Glyphosate Toxicity (Where is it coming from?)

Homesteading Family17:28

Transcription

so why is there so much glyphosate in my

body and

Caroline's and where is it coming

[Music]

from I released a video several weeks

ago talking about how Carolyn and I had

extraordinarily high levels of

glyphosate in our system and what we

hoped wouldn't be true is true I also

have a high level of iate you can go

check out that video to kind of recap

the beginning of this story but we're

picking it up here today because we're

on the path to trying to find out where

the glyphosate is coming from we are in

the top 5% as far as levels Caroline is

actually like off the charts in the

levels and I am am very very high and

that's extremely odd for the type of

lifestyle that we live we've set out on

a path of both Discovery and

detoxification so today's video we're

going to actually do some samples on

some water some soil and some of our

food items to start to find out or at

least see if we can get an idea where

this is coming from but I want to back

up a little bit because there was a

little bit of context I left out of the

last video and you guys had some

important comments and questions that I

want to address first things first we

are in a detoxing protocol and a lot of

you were commenting on that and we're

going to get to that in the story right

now we're just following the doctor's

prescriptions uh through supplementation

there's a few different ways to detox

we're just kind of doing what we're told

right now which is great we'll probably

explore uh toxicity and

detoxification in the future but we want

to get through that process I just

wanted you guys to know that yes we are

addressing it we are actually working

through a detox protocol it's going to

take us six months to a year to see how

this all kind of shapes up and plays out

on that level but we're doing doing

something we're taking care of our

bodies we're working on it the other

thing we can do is what we're doing here

today which is to uh start testing the

things that are coming into our food

system to see if we can identify a

potential Source but before we get to

that testing I wanted to address some

comments you guys had on my report

because several of you astutely noticed

that there were actually several other

things for me personally that were much

higher toxicity level than the gly iate

and so why am I focusing just on the

glyphosate so let's go through that for

just a minute and if you watch the other

video you saw this a bunch of you

commented on it um you saw that afot

toxins were very very high the thing is

is that these other things we have a

pretty good idea where we're coming from

the alot toxins come from multiple

things but very high in coffee we're

heavy coffee drinkers we enjoy our

coffee even organic coffee can be very

very high in afot toxin so we're

addressing that we're changing where

we're we're getting our coffee from uh

because it's presenting these molds the

apoxin is a mold another one is this CED

globos a if I'm saying that right I

don't know I'm not a scientist but it

comes from building molds and

construction my background is in

construction and I have done a lot of

work on moldy properties both through

construction and Property Maintenance

and management so we feel pretty

confident we know where that came from

it can stay in your system but it's also

something that can be dealt with both of

these are things that we can deal with

we can get out of our system one of them

I'm not exposed to anymore or rarely uh

coffee we working on reducing that

exposure another one was and this is a

big word uh hydroxy

isoteric acid essentially it's something

in gasoline okay it ties to the next one

I'll tell you about both of these which

this one I was through the roof in and

that is non phenol it is another thing

that is an additive in gasoline now

between my construction experience I

grew up working on cars homesteading

here working with Machinery I've had a

lot of exposure to fuel and so those are

both likely caused from getting fuel you

know on my hands on my body and that's

kind of a tough one because it's not

something that's going to go away I'm

going to have a regular risk but it's

something I control I can wear gloves

better I can be careful about ingesting

it and so it's identifiable we're pretty

sure we know where that's coming from

those ones while they're alarming um we

can identify them we know what to do

about them and and we can also work to

detoxify them glyphosate is alarming

because where is it coming why are we in

the top 5% when we live a life like I

stated previously we kind of live by the

8020 rule meaning the vast majority of

we take in is what we raise we're not

purists so we don't worry about the the

minor amount however that doesn't add up

to the level of glyphosat-prozess

plants okay and most of the research

you're going to find out there including

the FDA which I'm not saying we should

trust the FDA most of it's going to say

it's been tested in low levels it's not

a problem there's an acceptable level I

don't know that I buy that some of the

stuff I read even from some of the

government sites like the National

Laboratory of medicine the ncbi site.gov

which is a great site for certain

research states that uh its intensive

and large scale use can constitute a

major environmental and health problem

uh it goes on to discuss in this article

that I read how um they're finding that

low long-term exposure they believe is

probably much worse than kind of an

acute shortterm larger exposure okay

these are things they're still figuring

out I don't trust it I don't trust any

of it it's a it's a toxin it's there's a

lot of people that believe it's

carcinogenic there's scientific research

for that even though that's not the

science scientific community's consensus

we don't want these things in our system

but here's the reality they're in our

system glyphosate is the most widely

used herbicide in the world and it's in

80 to 90% of people's body so it's not

shocking to me that it's in my body it's

not shocking to me that it might be in

your body it's not shocking to me that

they might say Hey you know in low

levels over time this is okay or at

least it's not going to cause any harm I

get that our bodies are fearfully and

wonder F made and they're made to take

on some problem some toxicity and deal

with it problem is we live in a toxic

world how many of these toxins are

building up and how much do we just go

oh no big deal versus what can we do to

eliminate some of this and so that's the

journey we're on I don't think it's good

for any of us this level of toxicity

that we're exposed to on the other side

we can't get rid of it either so we've

got to find a balanced path I hope in

our journey and our discovery that that

not only will it help us solve our

problem it will help you guys at least

know how to test know how to identify

some things and take action that is

appropriate for you next steps is to

start testing we're going to start by

testing some soil in water and then

we're going to go on to testing some of

the animal feeds we're using and even a

few of the bulk foods that we ingest you

know at a at a high regular level okay

so we're going to test water

first and I'm using some test kits by

detox project.org no affiliation with

them but they were who was recommended

to me um by a friend of mine who's done

some of this and a little bit of

research so first thing we're doing is

water this is just regular water out of

the tap we're going to test it first if

it was to come up

positive we would go to the source

that's water we just got to follow the

directions

here

[Music]

okay

Shake 30 seconds

[Music]

[Music]

you know I I feel blessed that they have

tools like this that we can do this at

home I'm sure there is some margins of

error in something like this but this is

supposed to be a quality test and at

least give

us uh a direction good little arrows

tell them to go down insert test strip

with arrows pointing

down and we're going to leave it like

that for another 10 minutes so we're

going to test our soil next and we have

some soil collected from our main crop

Garden that is where the vast majority

of our food comes from it's also where

the previous

owners uh who I would have a little

suspect because of their gardening

practic it's also where they Garden so

this is some nice look at that beautiful

soil um hopefully it's not contaminated

so this came from our

[Music]

[Music]

[Music]

garden this has been in here for 10

minutes says to now take it out and let

it sit for another 10

minutes and wait for the lines to appear

I'm going to go ahead and do it right

here just as to lay it

flat 10 more minutes okay and we'll see

okay so it looks like our water test is

finished drum

roll this is water right out of our tap

and it's it's not as bright and bold as

I would like it to be but those

instructions don't say it has to be

bright and bold it just says you have to

see the control line and then measure

the control line against the test line I

can see the control line the test line

is actually slightly darker than the

control line which tells us according to

this test that there is no glyphosate in

the water so that's good news

[Music]

we wanted to test our animal feeds and

our animal feeds

are uh a lot of layer feed for the egg

layers uh we raise a lot of chicken so

we call those broilers a lot of Broiler

feed so both of those are heavy grains

all right the pigs we actually feed

whole grains it's been wheat this last

season so whole wheat that we uh ferment

and soak and then alala pellets for the

dairy cow and she is uh lactating she

gets a little bit of teeny grain but

it's not much and it's from the same

company as these other ones so we didn't

test that bulk of it's Alfalfa and then

hey we're we're on Hay a lot during the

year so that was a concern to me so

those are all the major feeds going into

our animals we eat a pretty heavy meat

diet so we wanted to do that and then we

wanted to test some of the grains

because that's something we don't raise

so we've tested oats which uh are

organic so we're buying those certified

organic um we flour which is also

certified organic and then we also grind

a lot of whole wheat we buy the wheat

whole and we grind it and that is not

certified organic so that's what we've

got tested and that's a that's a big

part of our food supply chain most of

the vegetables and everything we're

growing out in the garden right so we're

we're kind of trust in the soil test for

right now and we'll we'll see where this

all gets to so what do we have going on

what did we find out water and soil came

up negative that's a huge huge plus very

very excited about that alala pellets

which the dairy cow gets has come up uh

negative it's it's a little borderline

by their measurements um you know this

is an imperfect test but it's looking

negative or what would be extremely

minimal pig feed which is the whole

wheat non-organic I figured that was

highly likely to be positive and it is

is also showing negative very strong

negative so excited about that um the

hay is what I wondered about because we

raise a lot of ruminants they eat hay

five to six months out of the year you

know there's a lot of different things

you can use I didn't really know but it

is also showing a negative really really

happy about that the organic oats is

showing negative as it should thankfully

we can trust that Organic certification

in this case very thankful for that the

organic flour is also showing negative

and then the wheat that we've been

buying I expected this would have a high

likelihood of showing some glyphosate

and it is showing negative as well so

that's a positive sign we're probably

still going to go ahead and go we've

organic week we've been in and out it's

a little hard to source so we've kind of

taken it when we could get it easily I

think with all this happening we're just

going to go ahead and go to organic

wheat but this is not an organic wheat

and again it did not test positive so

excited about that now I've left out to

the layer feed and the broiler feed and

they are

showing positive strongly positive this

doesn't give you measurements I mean it

gives us some some

idea um in parts per million but it's

it's a little hard it's High by by what

we're reading here basically in our test

we're getting no test line which would

be at the higher level and so it's

showing that our our uh layers their

feed has a high level of glyphosate and

broilers our meat chickens have a high

level of glyphosate so what do we do the

obvious solution is to start buying

organic right um we've proved out here

in this little test it's a small test

it's not perfect but we've we've

certainly proved out that a couple

things that we know are certified

organic are testing clean and that's a

great thing so what we can do is start

buying organic chicken feed now that's a

little bit of a challenge we got to buy

in bulk and it's going to be almost

double the price it's going to be worth

it it's probably what we're going to do

but it still leaves some questions for

us between the eggs from the layers and

the meat chickens one we're not testing

the actual food that might be something

we need to look at doing but we couldn't

find a home test that would do that so

how much of it is coming through the

food even that said that's still H 15%

of our diet maybe um might go up a

little at times of the year down a

little bit in times of the year it still

doesn't explain to me why Carolyn and I

have such a high level of glyphosate

while this is cool there's some things

that are not showing up there's some

things that are are so we can take a few

positive steps um there's still a story

here there's still something going on

that I can't answer right now as to why

the levels are so high and it's

something we're going to have to

continue to pursue while we go ahead and

solve the things that are solvable we

don't really have great answers I

thought by the testing that we would

really get some real conclusive answers

we have a couple we can take action on

it um but we're going to have to

continue to explore this concept and

continue the conversation to try to

understand why a family that raises uh

3ars of its food or better buys mostly

organic

um is testing in the highest levels of a

substance uh that people of any

lifestyle tests people that are eating a

regular commercial diet um where you'd

expect them maybe to test that level and

we're higher so I don't know I don't

know where it goes from here um but this

has been an interesting Journey thanks

for hanging out and we will definitely

update you soon check up here for that

updated video or another video in the

meantime
