Glide Apps Tutorial for Beginners
Hi guys! In this video, I'm going to be telling you how to use Glide Apps. So, having said that, let's just jump into the video.
So over here, as you can see, I'm on their website, glideapps.com. To get started, we're just simply going to go ahead and click on "Start for Free." It is free, but there is a pricing plan, which we will get into later on in the video.
Once you've clicked, you can sign up with either your Google account or enter in your work email. It depends on you. I'm going to continue with Google, and once you've done that, you're good to go.
Then it's going to ask you some questions, like, "Welcome! How did you hear about Glide Apps?" I'll just say Instagram. I'm building an app for myself, and I'm a freelancer or a contractor. Click on continue.
What are you building? Here, you can describe your app, and they'll create the basic version of it. I want something like this: "No Track." As you can see, I believe the AI is working over here non-stop.
So here we go! This is how it looks. Over here, you have your notes, tasks, schedules, and reminders. Pretty simple application, nothing too crazy.
Then we'll just simply click on "Let's Glide." It's a weird name, but you know, it is what it is. Once that's done, you should be good to go. Here, you can go ahead and create your new app.
As you can see, it's loading up. Give it a couple of seconds, and here we go!
All right, so this is how it looks. This is the editor overall, and here you can see your application. This is the preview. On the left side, you can get all of your options like components and other options as well, like cards, lists, whatever you want to add.
On the right-hand side, you're going to have your cosmetic options. So you've got your style, fonts, description, colors, and all of that. At the top, you can see you have data. If you have a database-driven application, it's going to pull data from here. You're going to have to feed the data over here, and it's going to go ahead and create an application from that.
Then we have the workflow. But yeah, this is the overall look of the application. Over here on the left-hand side, you can see you've got reminders, schedules, tasks, and users, which is according to the options that we put right here.
So you can see right here, these are the databases. If we click on schedule, it'll open up. These are basically pages or navigation, if you will. If you click over here, you can create options like screen data, custom screen, form screen, project management, all of that.
Then down below, you've got your menu option. Here, you can go ahead and add components like simple image, profile, cover, right? So if you want, if you come over here, this is the user. Instead of a user, we can go with a list, table, grid, or a checklist, even a calendar.
If you click on custom, you can add your own custom option right here. So let's say we wanted to add the option right here called "Title." We'll just go ahead and remove it.
So you can see we have the title photo over here. If you want, you can remove it like this. That totally depends on you. For users, I think a list would look much better.
You can see the data sources are over here. These are the sources that it'll pull data from. If you want to add components again, click on the plus button, and you can add components from here. But depending upon the application, I think these are enough.
Go ahead and change some of the colors up, shall we? For the colors, you can see right here. I'll close this up. You can see it's more of a purplish type of color.
You see right here, allow users to add items, allow users to edit items. I'll go ahead and do that. Actually, if we click on this plus icon, we can go ahead and add title, body. I don't think we would need to do that. I think we can edit items, right?
That looks good. We can edit the items that we want. That's good. Allow users to delete? I think that's also good or not. We'll keep it over there.
Then we have the options right here. If you wanted to add an item, you can, of course, do that for each of these different navigation pages. I believe over here you can add these different items, right? Reminders and stuff like that. Each of them you can have individual options.
Then down below, we have our menu profile, which is good. Then we have our components, which is the container and all of that. For each of them, they have their own container options.
You can see right here, you click on the task. It has a collection task over here. Schedule is going to have that for schedule. I think it would be much better if we go with a calendar option.
Here, we can check it out. For tasks, I think a list is good, or maybe a checklist. A checklist is much better. For reminders, I think a simple card option or actually a list option is much better.
So for reminders, it's going to be a list. For schedule, it's going to be a calendar. For task, it's going to be a checklist right here. I think that looks good.
Once that's done, you can publish it. I don't see an application or an option to change the colors, which is weird. We should have an option right here.
But yeah, then we have the setting option right here. If we click on settings, we can see it right here. Sorry about that, I thought I couldn't see it, but it's right here.
Click on the settings, and you can see the name and icon of your application. Click on appearance, and you can see the colors right here. Purple is good. If you want, you can change the colors. It depends on you.
You can have the containment, small, and all of that. Privacy is going to be either you want it to be a private application or a public. Totally depends on you.
Integrations: you can integrate other applications as well, like Figma, GitHub, Gmail, whatever you have. Users and authentications: here you can go ahead and select the sign-in with Google option. It depends on you if you want pin emails with Google or whatever.
Totally depends on you whether you want that option or not. This is the sign-in screen. Here you can have emails and continue. If you want, you can upgrade it.
So you can see this is the branded sign-in screen. Right here, you can see "Made with Glide." If you pay extra money, you can just get rid of that option as well, same with custom users, agreement, and all of that.
Then we have the data. If you want, you can import the data, delete the data, or export the data as well. Down below, you have your building methods.
So overall, accent color: we can change it to whatever color we want, a gray color. But I think the purple one looks really good, so we'll leave it at that.
Once everything looks good, we can go ahead and publish the application. So then just simply click on publish. This is going to be the URL, the private URL. If you want, you can change it to whatever you want.
So "Not Track" is my application name. I think that looks good. Click on publish. Nottrack.glide.page, that is the application.
And there we go! Next, you can invite users to go ahead and use it. You've got the link app over here. If you click on privacy, you can set it to public and private.
Over here, you can allow specific emails or users. Publishing is over here, and the domain is over here. You can send the QR code or just invite them via email, and you should be good to go.
It's as simple as that! As you can see, it's really, really easy to create applications. If you click on those three dots, it'll take you back over here, and here you'll find the application.
This is the app that we created. This one was the earlier version where we were just still typing. But you know, Glide or the AI itself created an app for us, but it didn't have scheduling or tracking or time tracking type of things.
But yeah, it's very simple. Here you can see all the applications that you've created, and it's as simple as that.
So now you know how it works and how you can create applications. Let's go ahead and check out the pricing.
The pricing is as follows: you've got four plans, including the Enterprise. You've got the free, the maker, and the business.
The free plan is, of course, free. You can create one app, and you can have 10 personal users. No updates needed, up to 25k rows and data sources. You can add like a Glide table and big table and all of that. Key features are going to be 40 plus components, real-time data sync, and community support.
Then you've got the maker app. You can create apps for your ideas. It's going to be $69 per month, which is billed yearly. You can create three apps, unlimited personal users, 500 updates. I think it's going to cost 2 cents per update, up to 50,000 rows.
You can add data sources such as Google Sheets, and you can import data from Google Sheets and Excel or CSV files and everything. So keep that in mind.
The business price is going to cost you $199 per month, billed yearly. In it, you can see you get everything in the previous plans and more. So you get unlimited apps, 30 users, 5,000 updates, and up to 100K rows.
Data sources include Airtable, Excel, Google Sheets, and Glide tables, and you can have other options as well.
So these were all the information you needed to know about Glide and how to use it and how to create an app.
