Civilization 7 has introduced a whole bunch of new mechanics and new techniques to learn and master. One of the most important ones is adjacency. Understanding how it works and how you can manipulate it is crucial.
In today's video, we look at one of the most broken combinations of leaders and civilizations that you'll find in Civilization 7, and that is Ashoka together with the Mississippians. This is affectionately known as Aoka Sippi. Let's talk a little bit about why this is broken.
So we're analyzing our start here, and what we're doing is trying to find good places to put our blacksmith and our library. The reason why is because for Ashoka, or rather for the Mississippians, every building is a blacksmith and a library. Every single building gets bonus adjacency to resources.
That means if you put a granary next to a food resource, it will get plus one food on top of what it already gives. That applies to quite literally every single building that they build. On top of that, Ashoka gets a bonus for happiness for improvements. So that means that if you happen to improve your resources, which you typically do, you're going to be getting double adjacency bonuses.
I'm looking towards the bottom here, and I'm thinking, you know what? This looks like a great spot for a garden and for a market. This looks like a great spot to actually expand our settlement. We want to cluster everything nice and tightly. If we can take... I think if we move here, it's going to probably be... yeah, this is a full turn, and we want to try and settle on the first turn. So this is probably going to be the best spot.
This also gives us access to a mine opening. We do see two mines here. We've got rough plains as well as the gypsum, which is a mining resource. So I think this is going to be our perfect candidate. Now, it is off fresh water, which you'll notice here on our lens, but as Ashoka, you really don't care.
That is because we're going to be so damn happy. You're not going to know what hit you. You're going to be celebrating after celebration after celebration. So we'll go ahead and put down our capital, and we'll get our first unit into queue. It's going to be a scout that we start off with.
We've unlocked agriculture, and with that, we've got our first option to put down a granary. Let's just take a look and see what it puts. It's a plus three. That's not too bad, a plus three granary. Now, we're not going to put it down just yet, but we will be looking to put it down shortly.
So let's go ahead. We'll start exploring. We'll head out over to the west and we'll start off with pottery, and that's because it's going to provide us a bonus to mines. We've got one mine here, a second mine here, and we've also got a third one up here. So we'll be able to link those ones up together.
We'll get a second scout out. I have been testing with moving into a warrior, but one of the things I've found is that you just feel like you're missing out quite a bit on the goody huts.
Hello! Okay, it looks like we've started off with an absolutely... this is going to be good. I don't know if you guys know what's going to go right here, but we've got three adjacent resources. Not only are we going to be getting a food bonus for our Mississippian bonus, not only are we going to be getting a happiness bonus, not only are we going to be getting a science bonus, we also get a gold bonus.
That's right, there's another adjacency bonus that goes in on top of this. It's absolutely crazy how much these adjacencies are going to start stacking up. I can't wait to show you. I look forward to it. It's going to be good.
So we could go into the granary right now, but you know the rules: we don't go for early granaries. How long have we got until we grow? We've got three until we grow. We've also got two turns until we do pottery.
So look, I know it's a bit controversial, but I'm still going to go ahead and do it just because it makes the most sense at this point in time. We're just going to hold our production for the moment, and this can really help in the early game accelerate your play style.
So it looks like this is our only rune that we've managed to find so far. We've got the second scout. Let's see if we can spot some more. Up there we go, there's another rune up towards that north side.
So it looks like we'll do one and then two, and then we'll do a search on this tile. So let's make our way over towards there so we can once again end the turn.
So we're waiting to build our brickyard because when we build our brickyard, that's going to allow us, or that's going to give us a whole bunch of production. So let's turn our yields on and get a bit of an idea.
When it comes to planning our city, we know a couple of things. We know that the garden and the market are going to come down here. We don't know how we're going to get them there. Probably something, probably a bath on here, and then realistically up in this position.
So I think you could go for a brickyard here because we want to go straight into our library, right? We want to open with a library and to get out here and put a library on this tile, which is 100% the play. We're going to need a brickyard, so it just makes sense.
Even though this is a mine, I think that we just go ahead and put that brickyard down. So I think we can open up with a two food, three production brickyard right here. Definitely happy to take that, and we'll reallocate our citizen.
There's no mines for us immediately able to take it, but by taking this tile right here, that's going to push us up. So you can already see that we've got seven food, and that is because of the two resources.
But we've only got five happiness, so when we take this tile right here, that's going to push us up to six happiness because we've now got an improvement. Not to mention there's a seventh happiness right there. Happy little guy!
So let's move down towards this position. We do want to take that, so we'll jump onto this tile and we'll use another explore. We'll come down onto here, and we've got an option between production or between wine.
Okay, this is... we now move on to our next point. Maybe, look, I'll explain it in a little bit. I'll explain it in a little bit. How about I give you that?
Okay, we're going to... normally I would take production, but we're going to do wine, and that's actually incredibly important. That's crazy how good that fortune is.
Let's keep on moving though. So we could look to use our search here, but I think we'll get out further. We'll get onto this tile and then we'll use our search.
Now we can put down our mine on this location, and one of the things that is starting to happen is this tile is getting completely surrounded by improvements.
So what's going to happen here is every single one of these improvements is going to provide an adjacency bonus for any buildings that go on this tile. So now that we've finished our brickyard, we'll be able to put another building in here.
So potentially we could go for the granary, and you can see that this is a 43 granary. You could also throw the granary down on here, which is an acceptable yield. We'll say that much.
Even though the granary yields are still that nice, we're still not going to bother getting them this early. And we've actually got a city-state nearby. Now we could potentially look to befriend them, but I do want to keep... because keep in mind this is on the difficulty, and I want to keep that influence in the back pocket just in case.
I think we probably want to head north here. There's a part of me that is thinking let's go south, but okay, you know what? Let's not go south. My intuition was correct in this case.
We are surrounded by barb camps at the moment. We've got one to the south, one to the north. So we're going to go into mysticism, which makes the most sense, and we'll look to put our plus two culture into our palace just so that we're going to be able to get that in as quickly as possible.
And it's time for a settler, so we'll move into oligarchy for that extra 20% food. That's going to be incredibly powerful. We're going to be looking to pair that with... oh, I almost forgot. Thank you for reminding me!
25% production towards training settlers. We'll slot that bad boy in, and let's take a look and see. So every five happiness that we've got, we're going to have an extra food in cities. Keep that in mind. That's in cities, that's not just in the capital, that's in all cities.
So the more happy you are, the more food in all cities. And then 10% food in all settlements during a celebration. So we are going to be absolutely fooding out of our mind in this game, and that's not even the beginning of it.
How did we take so much damage right there? That was a lot of damage that we just took. It looks like we have met somebody, but before we meet them, let's go ahead and we're just going to take that.
And we've got the option of culture and food or science, and even though science is lovely, we want culture just because any time, any turns that we can shave off... and you better believe we're going for this Kalin right here.
Any turns that we can shave off getting towards our pantheon is going to be incredibly important. So we'll give him a friendly greeting. Now keep in mind that Augustus is an expansionist leader, so that means that it's very likely that he's going to be looking to expand down towards this.
So immediately that says to me, okay, we need to get up here and we need to settle him. We need to forward settle him immediately. That's incredibly important, and we can manage the relationship after that.
Oh, that's not good. That is not good right there. We've got a Carthage scout to the south. I think that we might actually look to try and clear out Carthage.
Okay, so we're going to start by sending our settler over towards this tile right here. It's actually the perfect position away, and this is part of the technique that you actually use with this combo to get incredibly powerful openings.
So we'll talk a little bit more about it once we get a bit closer to this tile, but what we're looking for is we're looking for two tiles that are separated that have got resources on them.
What we're going to be doing is a very, I guess I'd say strange mechanic or technique basically. So as an example, these two tiles here are perfect because we can put a city on this tile, and then on this tile, we can put our buildings down, and they will get adjacency from the resources and the improvements on here.
They get plus two to this one and plus two to this one, and of course, there's two buildings on both of them, so it's plus four and plus four. This is another great spot that you can put it down, and we get a cotton as well.
So I think we might look to prioritize this spot. It's very, very close, so we'll have to see the lay of the land over here. We have taken this relic now, so we'll continue moving on, try and get an idea of exactly where we want to settle up here, and we'll continue moving down out over towards this position.
Now, one thing to note is if we move down towards this position, it's highly likely it's going to be attacked by Carthage, so we want to avoid this at all costs.
So this is another example of a position that we could settle, but you're not going to have that same bonus from it because even though the resources are together, there's no split in the tiles. Sometimes you can get resources together that are not split perfectly.
It's a bit strange. I don't know exactly how it works. I guess it's something to do with the hexes. But we could go ahead for another settler right here. I think it's probably the play, and then we'll look to go into our burning arrow, which is our unique unit.
So let's continue moving on, and there it is! That's exactly what we want right here. This is actually perfect because we've got a gold as well. In fact, these are two S-tier resources that we've got early on.
So with our settler, we'll cancel where we were going, and we're going to come up and sit here. This is actually fresh water expand as well. This is a perfect settle. It's quite far away for us to be out here, but I think this is 100% the right call.
And we've got... is this another barb camp? This is the corral. How many? There are so many! There are an absolutely crazy amount of hostile barbs. What have we got here? Hold on, are you the same?
Okay, it's Carthage. I thought we had another one coming in for a second right here. So I think, yeah, look, even the game is suggesting it. It's saying, you know, come up here, settle this spot. That's a good spot right there.
It's great settling next to Carn Kalin because it does provide that water around it. And we could go for another settler right here, but what we're going to do is we're going to just save this turn of production for our library because we know that the library is going to be coming up shortly.
Let's go ahead and pop that one, and we do see another rune out over here, so we'll go ahead and grab it. And we've got the Zang, the Jang. This is an incredible world wonder, or natural wonder rather.
Is there a good spot for us though? I'm starting... I think this is probably going to be the right tile. If we go here, it's way too far forward. This is quite a defensible position, but then we could always follow up with a secondary city back here.
But we do want to limit how many towns and cities that we've actually got this game. We don't want to go too crazy with it. So we're going to hold our production for one turn. Excuse me, where are you going? Did I not... I told you to come up here.
I guess at the end of the day, I guess it knows exactly where to go. So I think if anything, we want to go closer. We want to go on this side, and we want to try and look to back away.
So I think there's another city-state that's up here, so let's go ahead and we'll move over towards that position. So we're going to come out over and settle on this tile. We've got a narrative event, so we could look to take gold or culture.
Now we've already grabbed... we just got our pantheon, and the city patron goddess is available. Now there's another pantheon that we could look to take. So god of wisdom is also very good when doing this STP because we are going to be having, you know, two quarters here.
We'll have two quarters over here. We'll look to have two quarters on this position as well. So this could 100% be a viable option, but I think just going for the city patron goddess... what people don't realize, I think, with this, obviously it's incredibly good, but the best thing about it is this is a war pantheon.
Because if the enemy comes at you, you've got a huge amount of influence you can just dump into war support immediately. Now because we've taken our pantheon, we don't need culture anymore, so we're going to go ahead and we're going to take gold.
And then that gold we can use to move into something else. We've also got an option between training three warriors, founding a settlement, or just getting 12 science. Now we want to start a quest just because it's going to open up an entire quest path for us, and we're going to found a settlement just because training three warriors is probably not in the cards.
We do have a unique unit here as the Mississippians, which is going to be the burning arrow, and that is not a warrior. We want to be just really making those because they're incredibly good.
So look, founding a settlement, that's going to be an option for us. We'll be getting that next turn, and now we can have a look at our library offering for today: three food, five science, and four happiness.
Look, there have been some trade deals in time, and this is probably one of the better trade deals. We are definitely going to be taking this library. That is incredible!
All right, so now we can move into discipline or mysticism too, and I'm favoring towards discipline. We want to try and take out Carthage as quickly as possible, so I think what that's going to be is just building a couple of burning arrows and then making our way down here.
So we'll look to try and pair them up. Sometimes we get this weird bug where we're disappearing from our city. Now one of the things that we haven't talked about yet is our momentos, and that's going to be really important because we are very close to our celebration.
We've got six turns to go, and we're using some special momentos in today's game. So if we take a look down at our leader screen, all the way down to the bottom, we've got Gromma, which you'll be familiar with: one extra expansionist attribute point.
And our second one is Garuda statue, which provides plus one population to your smallest settlement every time you start a celebration. Now this is a pretty high-level momento. I think it comes at about level 39 on the leader tree.
I don't know if I'm saying that correctly, so you can see here I'm 42. So if you want to level up your leader, whether that's your Ashoka or whether that's Isabella or any other leader, check out the Discord because we've got a whole bunch of saves that you can actually use.
So the way that saves work is you can only use a save once, but you can share it with a friend, and they can get XP from that as well. Oh, this is not good.
So they can get XP from it as well, so we've got a whole bunch of friends on the Discord that are quite happy to share their saves, and that's how a lot of people are leveling up at the moment.
I know some people look upon that not that kindly, and they think it's a bit of a cheat, but the way I see it, I don't know if you're aware, but it takes a long time to actually get to level 10.
So I'm level 10 on Ashoka, and I've done a full-length playthrough, and it was about nine hours, and in the end, I got to level five, and I was like, okay, so you're telling me I got to do another two full-length playthroughs just to be able to get to level 10?
I don't know if I've got the time for that. Sorry, even though I've spent hundreds of hours at this point. Okay, where were we? Sorry.
So we've got all of our improvements here. Actually, no, we don't. Let's go. We're going to take this fishing tile right here because that's going to give us... can we even see? If I cancel that right now, it doesn't say.
I think it gives us an extra bit of happiness anyway. Let's continue moving on, and let's speed through some of these turns. We've met Confucius now. We'll have a look and see where he is, get a bit of an idea.
So it doesn't look like we've spotted him out just yet. We don't get to know where the cap is, and we've actually got barbarians that are standing on the relic, which is just so typical. Just so typical.
So we'll go ahead and we'll found this settlement. That's going to give us a nice little road in, and we'll begin now. So now that we've founded this settlement, this is where the first component of the bonus comes in.
So the first component is that we get a plus two food adjacency, and that is immediate because we've got one, two resources that are next to us when we put this improvement down.
Also going to give us another adjacency, but it's going to be for happiness. Now on top of that, this is per building that we're doing this. So if, as an example, I was to purchase a building like a brickyard, for example, and put that in here, that's going to get a two food and a one happiness adjacency on top of that.
And now I've got a seven food, four hammers, five happiness town that I literally just settled this turn, and it's already looking that good. Keep in mind this is going to grow incredibly quickly.
It is absolutely insane how fast these grow. So let's... we can definitely accept a little bit of culture early on. We've still got... we need those resources in the bank just in case they decide to denounce us, and we're going to continue moving up towards this area.
We are aware of the barbs. I don't know what they were doing. We could actually look to incite the raid. I think we're going to incite a raid on Augustus up here because we know that he's in that area, so that should hopefully keep him busy for a little bit.
I don't actually know how that works. I don't know whether it spawns new units or what happens. I don't think he really... I don't think he knows.
And we're going to take the 20 population quest, and we'll accept open borders for some free gold. And now we've got an option. So we finished our library, and we're moving into our next technology.
So already we've got five science, five happiness, and three food just coming from our library, which is very nice. This is an incredible amount of yield that you are receiving early on, and keep in mind there's no codexes in here.
There is absolutely zilch. That is all just 100%. That's raw yields, baby, that you're seeing right there. Let's see, we've got a little bit of vision, and indeed we do. We did have our suspicions about this.
There were warriors hovering in this area, so I'm trying to think what's the best way that we move forward here. Maybe we want to try and take this out because, look, I want to expand down towards here.
You know, maybe the best play is that we do take this out, but we just kind of hold them for the moment. I don't know. We'll have to see how we go. Where do we even go for a scout here?
Maybe we bring this one across, and this one can just kind of hold position for the moment. Do we continue looking for more settlers? We could go into a happiness altar. That could be reasonable, but I think going into more settlers is going to be the play.
We've got two out at the moment. We'll have our irrigation coming through shortly, so we'll go ahead and do that. And now we're going to take our camel on the other side because remember that this camel is going to provide the plus two to our food as well as a plus two to our happiness.
Actually, I don't think it will change our food. Sorry, it will only apply to our happiness because we're already picking up the resource from the beginning. Don't... I'm getting ahead of myself here, folks.
And now we've got an option for science, which we would definitely take. So that brings us down to 50. So we do have to be very aware of our influence in the early game and just make sure that we're keeping track on it.
We'll come back inside just to make sure that we are able to heal up nice and full, and our settler is in position. So I think this is definitely going to be the tile.
So we do manage to get here ahead of Augustus. It looks like he's actually already settled here, so he's going to be quite mad that we've done this.
So what we're going to do is before we actually go into it, I'm going to request a farmer market, which he accepts, and I'm thinking that we actually just hold the settler for the moment.
Even though we could technically settle this turn, if we hold it, what that's going to do is it's going to allow us to get enough influence. So let's double-check here. We don't have any requests down here, so we've now got enough influence to give him this one as well, which he will also accept.
And this is going to push up our relationship so that when we settle this, because he's going to get mad at us, he's going to get very disappointed that we settled too close. But now that we've done that, it's going to continue to push that relationship up despite what we've done because we've been naughty.
So now we get an option for a codex or for culture, and of course we're going to take a codex because that's a plus two science bonus. So now we're up to six science, and then of course we'll slot the codex in to the library. That's eight, and of course we're going to take the codex out of the palace and put it in the library.
Now we're up to 10 science on our lovely library. Things are looking up. So now when it comes to our expansion over on towns, our primary focus here is going to be about making sure that we've got improvements that are around our city center.
Now we will eventually put a second set of buildings that will be on this tile right here, but at the moment we can afford to just put that mine down. And keep in mind, we'll always keep in mind, keep in mind we'll always be able to replace that.
Now there's a part of me that thinks maybe we should try and snipe away this cotton, but then there's a part of me that just thinks, look, it's probably not worth it. You've got literally a natural wonder right here, and you should probably take it.
Now if we do that, we're getting five food here at the moment. So one of the things that we could look to do is we could take the Kalin, but I don't really prioritize kin that high anymore, just mainly because it's food for the cap.
And if we take a look at our capital right now, like our cap's got 20 food in it, right? So you're only going to 20, 22 food, and I'd much prefer getting out onto this natural wonder sooner rather than later.
So we'll go ahead and do that, and let's look to take animal husbandry. It's been a little bit late to get into it, but that'll allow us to purchase out here, and we want to try and get that purchase off soon.
And now we can take a look at our celebration. So we're at two population, five population, eight population. Sometimes it does bug, so hopefully it doesn't bug this time.
We'll go ahead and put two gold in all settlements, and we'll also put production in, and that puts us at two population, five, and eight. I don't... maybe it bugged this time. It's been a bit buggy, I've noticed. It looks like it just didn't work.
All right, well that's okay. Sometimes you get them, sometimes you get got. Maybe next time we'll be able to get it.
Okay, so next expansion. So I think this is definitely going to be the spot. The problem is if we expand here, we are going to expose ourselves to Carthage a lot. We're going to be spreading ourselves thin.
And keeping in mind that in the north, Augustus is an expansionist leader. There's a good chance that he just ignores this and just comes down and expands on this. So we could probably look to get something nice in here.
I don't think that's terrible, and I suspect he will almost certainly come in and take that. Now we could... oh, this could be bad. We're just going to go ahead and grab a warrior here.
Normally I would be against a warrior. I'd say let's not get the warrior, but we're just going to do it here just to be able to hold the ground. And we'll fortify him up. He should be fine, and we'll move into mysticism number two.
It looks like I'm hoping... weren't you meant to go after Augustus? Why are you coming after me for? I paid you guys off. And now we can look at our next option.
So irrigation is going to be coming up shortly through animal husbandry, so we're going to do one expansion over here, a second expansion here, and a third expansion here. That'll take us to six, and we should be able to find something down here as well, which might be along the water, but we'll take it.
And then that'll give us seven, and then we're happy with seven because if we look at our total expansion amount, we've got one irrigation, one settlement limit, and then over on the civic tree, we've got a second one that's up here, and then a third settlement limit that's over here.
And then finally for our Mississippian civics, we've got another one that is here. There we go. We found it eventually. So we've got four extras on top of that. So if we can get to seven, then that's going to be reasonable, and we want to try and fill in towards the top.
Now we don't know who's towards the south here. Confucius could be down somewhere in this region, so that's always something that we need to be aware of. But we really haven't scouted quite well in this area.
We should probably get someone down here. Any volunteers, Mr. Army Commander? I mean, there is a warrior right here, so it's probably not a good idea.
Let's move into... you know what? We're going to move into a warrior here just because of that. We've got imminent danger on this border, and we want to make sure that things are going to be okay.
So I think we're probably going to have to settle this city here just to make sure that it doesn't get taken from this northern position. It looks like the warriors did indeed leave, so we'll be okay.
And we'll fortify this warrior here. We'll make sure that he's building foundations, and we can actually just begin work here just because we're with the capital. We get a lot more healing.
And now we've got our next expansion point, so we want to go somewhere that's going to give us a happiness bonus, but we also want to go somewhere that's going to give us a decent yield.
So this one works, but this one also works, so I don't mind coming out here. And when it comes to our next expansion, realistically, we want to get down towards this.
So this actually isn't a terrible spot, so I think actually we've got one... yeah, we've got one building in both of these, so we'll go ahead in with this, and we'll look to put another building in here shortly.
I think that's probably the right call. Okay, we're trying our best not to overthink it. We want to try and play through as relatively quickly as we possibly can.
We'll look to grab this tile here, which is going to start pumping us up, and we'll want to come back here and grab some improvements. We'll also need to start building up that gold economy as well.
And now we can move into irrigation. That's going to give us that settlement limit, and we can look to grab a settler, or we can go in for a burning arrow. Burning arrow is the smart move here, so we'll go ahead and do that.
Our scout has fully healed up. We could send it... let's send it south. That's going to make the most sense. There are already two scouts, and we'll go ahead and just take the gold, which is actually going to be quite nice because that'll allow us to purchase.
We could even look to purchase up here, but I think we want to kind of purchase and prioritize down towards the south. Actually, you know what we could do? We could look to purchase a building instead. That's going to be wise.
We've already got gold. We want to try and funnel all that gold that we can into our existing settlements. So let's go ahead and do that. We could actually just grab this straight up.
I mean, all the food that we're going to be getting... you could go granary, but what's the point in going granary if you're just going to get an extra two hammers off the brickyard anyway?
So we'll go ahead, we'll drop that in, and that should give us... that pushes us up to seven food right now. So very happy to take that.
Austa is going to give us an amazing request right here. The only thing I'm a little bit worried about right now is I don't have a lot of influence, and if the enemy does try and denounce us, we're not going to have any response.
Or in this case, we don't have any response even to give a happy hello, so we do need to be cautious about that. So maybe getting our altar online sooner rather than later could be a good idea.
Now, burning arrows are a cool unique unit. We've got access to our first promotion. Let's go ahead and grab that promotion. A little bit of a mistake there not to use our attack, but we'll go ahead and use it here.
Hopefully, yeah, we should be fine from that. Okay, that worked out fine. And we could look to go altar here, but I'm thinking that there's probably... we want to try and get this expansion off down here.
I'm thinking out loud, but how do we get out there? We can't even really get out there. We're just going to have to go into another burning arrow at the moment.
All right, mysticism has come through, mysticism two, and so our burning arrows... so one of the things that the burning arrow does is it's got a cool little bonus.
So it applies the burning status to tiles for two turns, and if the enemy units stay in that tile, in fact, even if your units stay in that tile, it will damage... it will give them 15 damage every turn that they're in those tiles.
So you really want to avoid it where possible. So we're able to dish out some damage right here, and I think we're just going to go ahead. We'll just heal up this warrior here, and then hopefully this one's just going to hurt himself on the next turn.
And we want to make sure that we don't steal tiles from the cap, so that looks like it's going to be fine. And now we can move into bronze working, but masonry is probably the better call because we want to get culture.
We're only sitting on 13 culture at the moment. Gosh, our culture is terrible right now. We really need to get our culture working. Let's have a look and see what we can move into.
We definitely want to move down this way. I don't think there's anything we want up here, but culture is going to be a huge component of getting stuff to work.
So maybe we could even think about dropping in our altar right now. That could be an option. We could also go for a settler. I think that's probably going to be the play.
Let's go for a settler just to get a bit more production, and then from there we can look to potentially get that altar in.
Okay, so indeed the warrior did kill himself up against the city, and we can start moving out down towards the south side here. Everything looks fine and dandy up towards the north.
Can we... we can't incite you because we don't have the influence. You can see how important influence is. There are so many things that you want to do in the early game with influence that you just can't.
If... well, you want to, but you can't because you don't have enough influence for it. This tile looks amazing. I think we're going to have to take that.
Even though it's very tempting to take immediately adjacent tiles to the city center just to get that extra happiness boost, because we're already on plus 38 happiness right now, and we've got a celebration.
We're currently going into a celebration. Now one thing, one of the cool mechanics about celebrations is that your happiness that you're producing during the celebration will contribute to your next celebration.
Which means that you can chain celebrations back to back to back to back. And it means that in this example right here, when we look to take the celebration, we should hopefully... six, seven, and nine pop.
We should get hopefully a population somewhere six, seven, and nine pop. I don't know. I don't know where that population is. I don't know where he is. He's having a sleep.
Maybe it's giving it to me on the turn rollover or something like that, but in my mind, I'm really happy that I'm getting this extra population. I don't know if I'm actually getting it though.
All right, it looks like we've got an option for culture, but we're not going to be able to take it. We'll take the plus two. That's still decent. We're not that mad about it, and we'll settle in towards this position.
So already getting a nice little spot. I don't think we can afford anything just yet. No, we can't. So we always want to try and max out our city centers first.
And we've got an expansionist point that we can now throw in, and that is because we've completed four, or we put four settlements down.
So one of the bonuses that you get if you're an expansionist leader is when you put your fourth settlement down, you'll get an expansionist point. So of course, we're going to be putting our point into the food per age on warehouse buildings.
Because 10% growth rate in cities is great, but we've only got one city at the moment, so it's only going to be affecting one city. So we want to try and maximize that even further.
Where were we? We were over here. Let's hit that little button. So we're going to go ahead and grab plus one food per age on warehouse buildings.
That's going to mean that our granaries are slightly more viable. We're going to make sure that we bring those sheep back into the capital. Very important to do that just because this town is not going to be really making use of hammers at the moment.
Let's continue moving on though. We're starting to build up, and I'm starting to think it could be time for us to look at a city. So we've got two candidates at the moment for our city: Alabama and Appalachia.
Our primary candidates. I think Alabama is probably going to make the most sense just because it's got the natural wonder, and this is a huge amount of production.
And if we can turn this into science, into culture, it's going to make us very happy. Now in this position, once again, we want to try and fill out everything around our city center.
So we'll go ahead and purchase a brickyard into here, and that's going to pump that up even more. So looking good. We want to try and keep that influence in our back pocket just in case we do get any potential denouncements.
This is something that we need to be very, very aware of. So we'll go ahead, and I think we can probably think about throwing down our altar right here.
So even though it might be tempting to throw it down on this position, we still want to gather the adjacencies that are going to be associated with this for the blacksmith or the barracks later on in the game.
So this tile here is going to make the most sense just because if we put this here, we can put a bath here because it's a river, and then we can put our garden and our market down on this position here.
So that to me makes the most sense. And our scouts are starting to get caught, and we found Confucius finally. Looks like he's down on this side of the mountain range, which by the way, this mountain range is absolutely insane.
Look how long it goes for. This is the stuff you wish you had when you were playing as the Incas. Now I think this is a dead scout. Where can you even go? I mean, he can come down here, but that slinger is going to absolutely take him out.
At least we found where you live. And they're both happy with us. Look at that! They're both happy with us, so we're happy that they're happy.
And just remember, this is a component. One of the comments that I often see on videos is, how come the AI are never attacking you? And it's for little decisions like that.
The fact that we were able to delay our settlement just for one turn so that we could get enough influence to send him an agreement that we knew he wasn't going to accept, but now means that we are plus 27 because he has an endeavor with another leader.
And then we've got another 11 here, which is supported endeavor with another leader. So it is all because of that that we're able to push that up as high as we possibly can.
We want to look to expand away from the capital. We never want to steal tiles from the capital, so these rings of tiles right here are from the cap. So we want to expand up towards the north instead.
So we'll go ahead and do that. We could look to take this tile as well, but we probably don't want to take it away from Alabama. And I'm kind of tempted to accept this just because these guys are probably not going to be denouncing us because they're both happy with us, right?
If we look at Confucius, does he have any negative multipliers? He doesn't, so it's unlikely that they're going to be doing it. Hold on, I'm just going to hold on a little bit right here.
Oh, we do have an option. Okay, do you go three food from Confucius, or do we take the culture? I think we got to take the culture, man. Our culture is really quite sad at the moment.
So we'll go ahead and do that, and we'll just take the gold per turn from Confucius. Sorry, Confucius. And from here, we could look to move into bronze working. I think it's going to make the most sense.
We'll aim to get our barracks down on that tile, and we'll continue. Now one thing to note... okay, no one's befriending this city-state here. No one.
Oh, we do have a befriending up here. Okay, so that kind of means that's going to just become part of the furniture. How about you? You're not being befriended either, so we're going to try and clear Carthage out as quickly as we can.
We've got so many... I mean, these guys are hostile just because we've settled next to them. And anyway, let's keep on taking turns. We probably stepped a little bit too far here.
Arch is going to fire off, and that is our scout going down over here. So do not fret about that sound, and we'll go ahead and hit the vision button.
And boy, oh boy, we've got some space down here. There's nothing that we actually want to settle. Like, we could probably get a settlement in here. This would actually be perfect, but the trouble is this is a navigable river, so we can't settle on this.
We want to put the town, the city center here, and then we want the second right here, and we want to build off those. But because they're navigable river, we can't do that, and there's no option here.
I mean, technically what you could do is put the city center here and then another tile here, and then you kind of get a one plus a plus one bonus from both of them.
Actually, I mean, we could kill Carthage and then take that spot. I think that's reasonable. Let's go ahead and do that. All right, we're going to move up. Now that the ground is on fire, we got to be very careful not to stand on it.
And our expansion continues towards the north. I think probably still we want to end up taking this over. I mean, this is three hammers. This is kind of wild, and it's two food to the cap.
This is two culture, and we need culture right now. We're just going to take that. Excuse me. Oh, Lord. Okay, excuse me. Can we purchase? Where is he going to settle?
Oh man, these guys are crazy sometimes. Is he just going to come in here and ruin our day? If he actually... oh, he totally is, isn't he? We gave him open borders.
Oh, it's our own fault. Oh, we shouldn't have given him open borders. Oh, such a silly decision. If he... you know what? The AI is notorious for ruining your days.
Oh man, look at this. He's going to use the road that we made. Oh no, he's coming straight for it. Okay, can we move people up here to cover everybody? Quickly cover right now.
Where is he going for? Because, oh yeah, he's going to go right here. No, not like this! If he does it... no, we can't even war him. Look, he's playing Egypt.
Why is he on Egypt, dude? Look at all the medjays he's got ready on standby. He's like, go on, do it. I dare you. I dare you to not like this.
Oh man, that is frustrating. Okay, so we've got... we're on 24 production at the moment. I don't think we really need to invest any more hammers. We can start to look into resources.
I think these are fine, and we'll start taking our sheep as well. And let's take a look and see. So we've got a specialization option here for us, and this is what I was saying where it's like you can't even really stop and get like an altar because he's so expansionist focused.
He will just take absolutely everything, and he's going to 100% take that. Whoa, that is another dead scout right there. They are prepped. They are ready for war.
Where are you going with that, Carthage? Do you mind if I send you towards Confucius? He's over there. He'll be fine. Please don't do it. Don't do it. Where are you going?
Where? I don't mind. I don't mind if you settle over that way. Okay, this is good. Is he coming over here? I don't mind at all as long as we stand on the tiles because we do have a settler coming out.
We're going to be okay. We're going to be okay. Okay, so we can settle this in like in two turns. Probably next turn we can go one, two, settle here.
So as long as we just block that location for this turn, and then we convince him that there's no other way. Dude, look at how many units are down here, Carthage. What are you cooking?
That is insanity. And we've got an offer for science here, and we'll go ahead and take earthworks. That's going to give us plus one gold adjacency to resources and another... we've got another golden age that's coming through.
We're 12, 8, 7, and 6. And what does that give us? 12, 8, 7, and 6. It must be giving the settler like as it comes through or something like that.
So that's going to be our fifth settlement, so let's go ahead and get another settler out right now, and that's going to be us settled. Oh, they didn't even kill us. They just let us go.
Oh no! Oh no, that's not good. Oh, he's gone. He's genuinely gone. He's out of here. We 100% take those. Wow, I can't believe that we managed to make it through.
Okay, so with regard to this town... actually, no, I think with regard to Alabama, we can actually look to turn this into a city right now. It's about to grow, so I think we probably leave it.
We wait till it hits 8. Now we could look to put something down here, and that could reduce the cost. So at the moment, it's 175, so let's go ahead and put in... we'll put in a settler as well as an altar.
So we'll put the sword pit here, and then we'll put the altar here, and that's going to reduce the cost down. It should bring it down. Now it's down to 125.
So essentially, these two buildings were 25 gold cheaper because of that, so we've come down quite a decent amount here. We'll go ahead and take the dies, even though they're not around the city center.
And we've got an option here. I think in this situation, we're probably just going to pass on that one, and we'll move the dies into the capital. We can't actually fit it in, but we do have a city.
Actually, why are you in here? You should be over in Alabama because they get more value from being in another city. And then we'll move the cotton into the capital, and that should be absolutely fine.
Technically, we could also move the camels. I'm absolutely not adverse to that. We move the camels across here as well, and then we get this second city.
Now we've got some nice growth: plus one on the palace or 25 gold. 25 gold at the moment is not terrible, but plus one palace production on the palace is for the rest of the game.
We got another codex right here, so that's going to push us up to our next milestone. We've got three codex. We need to get that library up ASAP.
And speaking of library, we can now put it down. So this is a five science library, and that's going to be adjacency bonuses throughout the player game.
And of course, we get the bonus to happiness once these improvements come on through. Actually, this could steal away his cotton. I wonder why he didn't take it. Maybe it's just not within reach.
Why did we move our general? We did not want to do that, and we'll heal up, and things are slowly rolling over. I don't actually know how long this video is right now.
We're at 50 minutes in, and judging by the way that this is going, this could be a long video. So I'm probably not going to be splitting this up. So if this is like a seven-hour video, apologies, just because I want to get this out.
I want to get it in sort of like one video for you because at the end of the day, it's like, you know, I want you to be able to sit here and watch it and not have to wait.
So our option right now is barracks, and that's definitely the play. Plus five production when you're sitting on 28 just makes so much sense, especially when you look at that.
And keep in mind, we've still got specialists to go. And now we've got the option for barracks up here. We're on 28 production here, so we'll go ahead and we'll throw the barracks onto this tile.
We did secure the cotton, and things are starting to look very, very good at this point. Did... oh, we did... didn't kill it. He didn't kill the archer here. He left it.
Oh, I should have killed it. I should have... oh, I had the chance to as well. We got to make sure we don't step on fire. The floor is lava. Well, the floor is not lava; the floor is fire.
And our options for settlements down here, I think we're going to go for this one right here. We could also put another one down here, but we're already at six of five at the moment, and that's going to push us to seven out of five.
And keep in mind, we do get a happiness penalty for each of these subsequent settlements that we've got. Oh, that's painful. That was... oh, that's such bad timing.
That is incredibly bad timing right here. We got to move everybody back right now. So the flood came through and hit everyone right as we were crossing the water.
So we'll go ahead, repair the plantation, and we can look to get an altar in here. Maybe that could be decent. I think an altar would make the most sense here.
That's going to buff up our numbers a little bit more, make it a bit more respectable in here. And at this point, I think the most important thing is just taking woodcutter tiles because what we can do is look to pair this with the Mandoo Perito, and that's going to send them into an absolutely crazy amount of resources or science in particular.
So we're growing like madmen here. We've got our second wine tile, so wine is great for us as well because it's going to give us plus 10% culture in a celebration, and we are always celebrating.
So because of that, it means that we are... well, we're always getting that plus 10% culture. So wine is an incredibly good resource. So we do want to get down here though.
How are we going to get down here? Hold on. If that's one, two, three tiles, one, two, three, do we go... we settle here, and then we take the wine? I think that's the play.
Now how are we doing on currency? We've got another three turns to go. So before we can get out to this position, we actually need to get the bath.
We could put a granary on this tile. Actually, a granary on this tile wouldn't be terrible. That's a 3-11. We'll take that. I think that's probably what we just walk away with here.
And now that we've got code of laws, we move up into entertainment. We could come into San St. San St is actually not a terrible idea.
There's a part of me that thinks that it might not just be crazy. It could actually be a reasonable thing for us to do. So we'll go ahead, we'll put our cotton in our cotton, our cotton back rather, and we're just going to heal up our forces.
So here, as an example, Waset is going to be giving us 400 or four resources, so that's going to be 100 gold. So if we look at how much gold it actually costs to make a... or to buy a merchant, it's more than 120.
So it's a nice little bit of recovery that you're able to get, and we'll take the cotton. Yoink! We can just leave it in that town. We heard a sound. I don't know what that sound was, but it's always a scary sound.
That kind of sound. We can actually move into this tile right here. We could look to buy out to this, but just grabbing the camels are very nice. Six science at this point is good.
How about influence? To be honest, our influence is on the up right now because we're adding in our altars. It's really quite good. We could look for a fishing key or a garden.
Remember, our garden is going to be coming down over here. But the thing is, we need our bath, and the bath is going to allow us to connect across here.
I don't know what you're doing, mate. You're going for a bit of a walk, a bit of a w. So if we go in that position right there and settle, that puts us at 7 out of 5.
So how's our happiness on these towns? So we're actually doing pretty well on the towns. They've all got positive happiness, and you got to remember that there's diminishing returns on happiness, at least when you're not playing Moria.
If you're playing Moria in India, there's not diminishing returns on happiness. In fact, it's quite the opposite. But for any other civilization, now we do have an option to put the garden down, and you can see that, and it's like, it's very, very juicy.
But I know that there's going to be something juicier over here, so we're just going to have to wait. We could look for a fishing key. We could look for a Mandoo Perito. I think that's going to be the call.
We're just going to go straight into the Mandoo Perito. We could put the world wonder down on this position. It's... where's the ti? I think this is probably the tile right here that we want to take because this is flat tropical, but it's not vegetated, so we're not going to be working this tile.
So if we go ahead and we put that down, that's also going to give bonuses to the altar, and it'll give bonuses to the bath. So we'll take that. We've got a monument that wants to come down on that position.
So let's a garden here, and then we'll be able to connect it up. And I think we can probably just send that scout around. One, two... are we going to... I think we might lose this next turn though.
One thing that I have noticed is they... oh, we should have used focus fire. Yeah, one thing I've noticed is they just kind of... they just move. They just go off the tile.
There's no way for us to actually kill that right now. Never mind, there is. You just one-shot it. Okay, so at this stage of the game, we're able to really start pushing these up.
You can see we're at 13 happiness now. Now keep in mind we do have the second building in there, which is why that is pumping, but we could look to add in even more, which I think wouldn't be a terrible choice.
In fact, what I think might even be better is converting this over to a city. So we're going to go ahead and start saving to convert this to a city. We want to start moving all of these towns into cities.
They're going to become huge. Look at this one. This one's already up to 15 population, 16 in the cap. And we could look to take this. Have we got any other offerings on this turn? No, we don't.
So we'll go ahead. We'll just take that plus three food. Ain't terrible. And we could move into engineering, but I think going into the wheel is probably a smarter move.
We're doing engineering. We're going to take that production, and finally we get to put this monument down. So the game's recommending a for culture monument instead.
So I'm saying put it down over here, but the truth is this is the king right here, this bad boy. So we want as much culture, base culture as we can because there's not an easy way to get culture in Civ 7.
All right, are we finally able to come down here? What is it? We're at turn 37, and it feels like we're nowhere near turn 37. At this point, I feel like I'm much further into the game than turn 37.
I don't know. Maybe it's just because we're playing on online speed. We'll upgrade, we'll upgrade, and I don't... yeah, I don't think there's any fires on these tiles or on these tiles rather.
There's no fires on the tiles. There's no fires on the tiles either. And if we're going to put a fishing key here, which we can, so we would want to put this tile here as our adjacent tile.
So that's going to be our improvement, and we still... next turn is when we're going to be converting over to a city. So let's pull this out, the camel, and we'll put that in like that, and we'll heal up our scout.
And was that the Mandoo Perito being built? No, Mosum of Theodoric has been built by Catherine. And now we can choose science on the monument, influence on the monument, or food on the monument.
I think we probably want to take science on the monument. Or no, we'll do influence. Influence is probably much more important, much more significant.
Let's get through these. We'll take that. What have we got here? We got open borders once again. He's in love with us right now, so you better believe we're going to be saying no to that.
That is absolutely fine to say no to, and we'll go into entertainment, which is going to be giving us our Coliseum as well as plus two happiness in all settlements.
We'd be very happy to take that. We've also got an option for a market right now, but to be honest, there's nothing in here that really makes me think, okay, a market makes sense.
Because sure, it's a decent yield that you're going to be getting, but there's no craziness that a market's going to be providing you. So I think if we've got a world wonder that we can build in here, we do have the Hanging Gardens that's still available.
I think it's time to start throwing these bad boys out. We're at 35 production. We've got the world wonder, the natural wonder here. I think it's time to start Monx Mounds.
This is a unique... not unique, but this comes very early for the Mississippians. I don't rate this world wonder at all, and especially because it comes so early, it's like you just don't want to waste your time.
So I think Hanging Gardens makes the most sense. We're not going to get any bonus from the farms in the settlement, but we will get the 10% growth in all cities.
So if we can rush this, if we can get this going a bit more, that's going to work magic. And we could look to put it down over here. I'm trying to see whether we've got adjacencies anywhere.
We could get something out onto this tile. I mean, these are either much of a muchness, so I think this position is going to make the most sense. And we're at 319 gold, so let's go ahead and convert this over to a city.
And now that we've got a city here, it means that we can actually start to produce things like the library. Now keep in mind that this has been a single tile up until now.
It is only now just become a city, so we're going to have to do a lot of work to expand this out. It's only got 12 production, so one of the ways that we can increase its production, and we can hit it real hard, is by putting a camel in here.
So if we take a camel...
And throw it in like that. From there, what we can do is put some production resources so we can go ahead and put these through. We will probably want to take the camel out of our capital because we want Alabama to be producing.
If we take a look, Alabama is going to produce Hanging Gardens in three turns. I don't think we can get down from there; it's already quite a high production city. Here, we're going to be able to pump that up to 22. Now, we're not too worried about food; mainly, the thing that we want here primarily is going to be the production.
In fact, we'll throw in a second camel just so we can get the second cotton in there as well. Now we're absolutely pumping in this city; it's got 24 production. That means we can start getting our science online a lot sooner. It's only going to take us two turns now to get our library online.
We can throw on this tile right here; it'll have production. Why can we not? Oh, I see why, because that's the tile that we want to put it on right there. There's a very specific reason why we can't, so we're going to go ahead and grab ourselves a Burning Arrow. We could buy it; we can't afford it though; they're too expensive.
We will slowly progress our way forward here. We're slowly going to be able to take out Carthage; it's been a long time coming. Now, I think the next question, as the Mando Parodo comes through, is that the Mandoo is going to provide you that extra yield. So we get extra happiness and science.
Thank you, Teeth Glitter Jewels. Her intro for the Mando Parido is longer than Confucius's intro. So we get an extra science and an extra happiness on vegetated or, I think, just tropical terrain. All of these terrain tiles here are going to be terrain tiles that we look to take advantage of throughout this game.
So let's continue. I think we're putting Fishing Key on this tile right here. So we'll look to actually do that instead because that secured these. Now we can actually take the wine. Have we got any other offers? We don't have any other offers this turn.
Now we can think about our bath. The Mandoo Parido is finished; we've got no real crazy good options in here. Dur Shadow Kin is nice, but it's not really mandatory. So we'll go ahead and put the bath on this tile, and then we'll put Garden, followed by Market. That's going to be an absolutely crazy tile; that's probably going to be one of the best tiles you'll see in this game.
We haven't even talked about specialists yet. Burning Arrow, let's—we forgot to focus fire. Actually, did we forget to focus fire, or can we just not focus fire from there? I think there we go. This is where it gets tough. We want to clear this out, but we can't because it's got fire.
So let's see what happens. He's just going to stand in the fire; he's just going to take the burn. Okay, we're going to move forward here. Let's let him burn one more time. Actually, I think if we shoot him, he'll die. We'll hold for now; we'll take the culture.
We've got an offer of food in the towns. We'll take food in the towns; food in the town at this point is quite good. Now we've got once again 20% food, so that should look to push up these smaller towns. Though once again, I don't see it popping them off, so maybe we just have to be a bit more aware.
Okay, we've fixed that one up, and now our library is going to come in. So we're going to put our library down right here on this tile; a lovely little position there. Oh, we've got specialists now! So our first specialist is going to be providing us two food, two gold, two science, two culture, and four happiness.
You better believe we are going to be taking that. That is a beautiful city center if I've ever seen one. So what did we even put on there? I think it was the altar, wasn't it? No, it was just the brickyard. That's crazy; that's just the brickyard, and it's doing that.
That could have been so much more special, but that's all right; we allow it to move on. We finally made our way towards here. We've got another one that's got three, so when we do this, this will take our gold from 177, and we've now gone up to 225 because we're playing on the online speed.
So we don't get the full 25 gold; I guess that's going to be a standard speed thing. Now we can look to put our camels in Alabama city. Actually, we kind of want more production in Alabama city now. Now that I'm thinking about it, it's like, you know what? I actually take it back; it's fine.
We're just going to leave it as it is, and we'll put more resources into—I think we can grow this city right here. It's always about making sure that when a city's coming off the ground, it's got as much possible support as you can give it with regard to resources like that.
So making sure that you're flexible. Speaking of cities, I'm thinking that we could start looking towards maybe not quite a city territory just yet. Now, I think all of these tiles are for Alabama. So what we could start thinking about doing, we've got the perfect ring there, is add in our altar, and then we can also look to add in our SPIT.
That's going to start pumping up these, and you can just see how absolutely ridiculous this starts to get now. Now we can finally put—you can see it's recommending our Market. That's not the one that we want; that's the one that we want—eight food. That's what we want.
We'll also throw in our Market afterwards, which is going to give us seven gold, which we will absolutely take. Things are starting to really kick into gear now. We'll throw down our barracks on this tile. With regard to food, we've got 36 coming in at the moment.
We could look to put down a bath, which will be extra nice just because it's going to reduce that total cost. So we're going to go ahead and just pre-queue that. We'll also think about putting in—where have we got an option for the garden? Nowhere really.
Now the garden's more expensive than the granary, and it's saying to put the granary down because we already get—we've got warehouse bonuses. So the granary isn't terrible. We could also look to put down a monument. Now we can't put our monuments down here because there's no connecting tile through, but we could potentially put a monument here because that's our city center.
So one, two, three—that would be two tiles of adjacency, so we can do that. I think maybe putting the granary on this tile as well is just going to help us out. That'll give us another quarter, and that'll give us a nice little boost to happiness.
Okay, well, it looks like our unfortunate individual has abandoned ship, and we're finally able to take out Carthage. Now, one thing to note is that when we do take out Carthage, that's going to invite Confucius to come up here and settle this. This is a beautiful little spot, so we need to be really sure that we're ready to do that.
Now, one other thing to note is that it will allow us to focus on this front. It looks like this city-state got cleared out; we didn't actually see it get cleared out. But I think if we do that, I don't really want to go above seven settlements.
You know what? I think we could, so let's just camp this for now. If we do it, it's probably going to upset him. Is there anywhere that he could settle in here? I think maybe down here. Yeah, down here he could settle.
So if we were to take this tile, that forces him off that, but he could still settle there—one, two, three. I think, yeah, I think that could work. I think we can take one more settlement because we've got a base of three, and then we get plus four, so we'd go to eight.
I think that that's fine, and Hanging Gardens has been completed. So that's going to now allow us to have another expansionist point, which will be able to put 10% growth rate into cities. You might have heard my son upstairs; he's doing a bit of jumping at the moment.
So now we've got the Hanging Gardens, as well as that 10% growth. Plus, we've also got 10% food in all settlements during a celebration, and we've got 82 happiness coming in, which means that we're just going to be perpetually celebrating right now.
We've got another option here, so we could look to go into a specialist, and I think that that might be a good idea. Two, four, six, seven, and then we've got another five on top of that, so that's a 14 yield tile right there.
So we will 100% take that yield from that specialist. We could look to move into mathematics, but I think going into the wheel sooner is probably going to be the smarter choice because it's only going to take us a few turns to get there.
We've got our blacksmith option; we've got one adjacency out here, as well as the world wonder. So I think we almost always want to take that. Yeah, that's definitely looking the best. Now we'll focus down over on that position.
Do we want to purchase? I think we probably want to purchase rather than build the settler because it's going to take three turns, but to purchase it, it's also going to be quite expensive. So I think because we're not building a world wonder in here, it's just going to make the most sense to queue up another settler and allow them to continue.
I think we probably just want to hold that Burning Arrow in this town. Where did you come from? Did you see that, or was he just in there? Have these units just randomly spawned, or am I crazy? I swear I don't remember seeing those units there. Maybe I'm crazy.
All right, how are we doing on adjacencies? Let's—this is before specialists, by the way. This is before specialists. You're witnessing a library in a barracks with 10, 20, 32, 37 yield, and this is in the age of antiquity, turn 44.
Let's have a look and see what our specialist is offering us. We have got a total of three, six, eight, thirteen, and another five from that, so an 18 yield specialist. We will happily take that, and that is the power right there of adjacency.
We've got another one that's over here. I'm not going to bother counting them; you guys know exactly the way I'm feeling, the way I'm thinking about this. But yeah, this is the power of adjacency. Just remember the bonuses that we're getting here.
We're getting the library and the barracks; both get bonuses from the immediate resources. Then we're getting the food, and then the happiness, and then the gold as well. They're all coming through from that adjacency.
This is where, when you stack adjacencies, it can just be incredibly powerful because right now, if we were to do a comparison of where things are in the game, I suspect we're probably doing pretty well.
Let's take a look and see where the resources are. So this is the daily AI that we're up against, and we're currently beating them. We're beating everybody on science, and we're beating everybody on culture. We're also beating everybody on cities.
In fact, it looks like our boy, the most expansion-crazy guy, has got to be at war, right? There's no way that he's not. He's hostile with Catherine; they may have had a fight, and perhaps she's taken some towns off him. But even then, she's only at four out of five at the moment, so maybe she looked to nuke him to the ground, something like that.
But yeah, at this point in the game, it's not looking pretty right now for our boy in the north. So that's going to give us our next promotion here. So we're going to go ahead and take this, and there's a part of me that thinks maybe we just go ahead and do that, and that's going to give us more experience.
So we'll allow that to come through. A migrant or a warrior? We're going to take the migrant; that should be in the cap. The good news is we are at the very beginning of our food cycle, so it's 563, and it's right at the beginning here, which means we're going to be getting full food for this.
So I think we just expand up towards these tiles right here. These are lovely little tiles for us, and none are going to give us a specific bonus. So we'll take this one, and now continue to make our way towards victory. Plus one happiness per age in palace and city halls.
We're on 93; that's just going to kick us up slightly. When it loads, no, it's not; it's a very slight bonus, but hey, you know, we'll happily take it. So now the question is where do we settle? I think this is the tile that we go.
Do we even settle this? Maybe we just don't settle; maybe we just leave this because I kind of like having this front right here, and I don't want to really annoy him too much. Like, we don't even really know what he's got.
Okay, you've had this the whole time—the heada. It's pronounced something similar to that. Where do we go right now? I think our SPIT goes here, and we go here. I just changed the subject completely. I'm like, that was terrible; we're not going to talk about it; we're just going to move on.
We are going to have a look at those beautiful yields. So we're up to 140 happiness right now coming through every turn. Remember that at the moment, so we've got one turn left on our current celebration, but next turn we'll be going into a new celebration.
We'll take the three food per turn; absolutely, we're going down to mathematics. Now we can look at moving down on the bottom side of the tree, so coming up to organize military, and that's going to allow us to have that seventh point and just guarantee that we're not—I mean, to be honest, we probably don't even need it.
We're not even going to bother with it right now just because we really don't need it. We could look at going into something like the Coliseum, but it's—you know what? What's the point? Why do we need the Coliseum when we're this happy?
We really don't get that many benefits from stacking up this much happiness. As I said earlier, you know, if you're playing as the Moria, as Indian Moria, you will 100% get those bonuses, and those bonuses do come through from your unique tree.
But if you're not playing as the Moria, you don't really get those bonuses, so they're nowhere near as important. All right, we've now got the potential Fishing Key that we could throw down here. I don't mind it, but they're big numbers, aren't they?
I tell you what, they are some very big numbers—plus one, like plus eight food. We could technically send it to the cap, or we could just turn this into a city as well. We could just turn everything into a city.
Do you even need towns? Maybe that's it. I don't know what we're going to call this video, but perhaps that's it. Like, you don't actually need to. We did make the settler; I completely forgot we made the settler.
Okay, it looks like we do actually want it. Okay, there's our Golden Age that we talked about. So we'll go ahead; we'll dive into our Golden Age—plus two happiness in every settlement. That brings us up to 165; we are very happy at this point.
Remember that every little bit of happiness that we get is going to be added onto our food for cities. That's the key distinction—plus one food in cities, as well as plus ten food in all settlements during a celebration.
So it's plus one food in every single damn city. So K right now is at 75.6; Alabama is at 55.9; Alpache down here is at 49. It is a very nice amount of food. We'll take the science; we're not going to argue, and we continue moving onward and forward.
Blacksmith now coming through. We can't put on this tile, but I think we'd probably go here if we were going to do a blacksmith. I mean, where else do you do? Actually, we should be thinking about world wonders because we're going for all four victory types.
So if we want to hit the military one, that's going to require a little bit of war; that's an option. But we want to try and hit the cultural; the science should be easy; the economics shouldn't be hard either. So I think cultural is now more important to focus on.
So let's get some of these world wonders out of the way. Which ones is the AI going to be going for right now? I feel like Proba Coliseum could, and Coliseum's good as well. That's the other thing to note.
So we're going to just start off with the Coliseum throwdown right there. Now we've got another option for another specialist, and we'll happily take the 13 resource specialist. Thank you very much.
We'll look for our next villa. We could put the villa down on the mine; that is a two culture mine, though. I mean, we've got actually a whole bunch that are over here, and there we go; we're absolutely fine.
Where are we? Are we even going specialist at this point? We could actually—it probably makes more sense to take silk here just because with the silk, we can actually put that in the city. Actually, you know what? Silk is terrible; it was one culture.
That was a terrible trade deal; we shouldn't have taken that. I think we're just—oh, there's the settler. I knew we should have delayed; I knew we should have delayed. Where could he potentially go? Oh, he's going to go here, isn't he?
Oh yeah, he'd totally go here because it's got—there's one, two, three. Okay, so if he goes here, one, two, three, we could still technically go here, but we don't care about fresh water. So let's just go here, but we want to be near resources.
So let's go here and here, maybe here and here. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay, all right, we know what we're doing. We're ready. Ally with Confucius? Sorry, sorry, Confucius; I love you, but I don't love you that much.
If we do that, what's going to happen is if he ever gets into a fight with Catherine, it's going to drag us into it. Now, there is a way to get out of it, but it's a bit buggy for me; it doesn't always work.
All right, well, it looks like the food on this position here has finally worked itself out. So let's go ahead and take a look at our—oh, we could purchase an altar. Let's save it for a town.
We'll save it for a town, so we could get an amphitheater or a monument. So we'll get a monument here first, and then after the monument, we will get our amphitheater and we'll put that in the same position.
So that's going to start pushing up our culture now as well. Every single one of these—in fact, we should start thinking more about cities and more about where we're actually putting these down. We could go for a city here, but there's nowhere really good for a—like, where are we going to put hypothetically this tile right here?
Do we? Yeah, we control that tile with this city; we could do that. Now, one thing we haven't done is we haven't done a pot top yet, a pot cop. So let's just do that; let's get it out of the way; it's done.
There you go; we'll get a narrative choice for it now. We'll turn it into a—we'll share constructive methods. There we go; a nice little to improve our stuff right there.
Okay, let's see. I suspect he's probably going to look to come in here. I mean, it just makes sense, right? I don't know why he didn't settle. Oh, he couldn't settle it earlier because of the city-state.
And we've got another—at this point, I don't think plus three food for town really makes sense, so we're just going to accept it. It's not a huge deal, and we are going to continue adding in more world wonders. This city is absolutely crazy.
I mean, the Great Stelly is not that great here, so we'll go for Dushadin, and we've got bonuses on the library, so we'll take those. We do have the blacksmith out the back as well, so we could think about adding that one in.
We are slowly—no way, he hit it! Oh, he hit it! Can we hit it? Oh no, wait, we can actually do it in one tile or in one turn. We can do it! I believe! I believe right now! I can't believe it! I can't believe it's not butter!
There's no way Gate of All Nations is available right now! Can I get a Gate of All Nations check, please? Oh, we've still got heaps of—it’s still available! The Gate of All Nations is still available right now at this time of day!
There ain't no way we're going for San Ster. Actually, is the San Chi Ster still available? Let's double-check. It is still available. So this is going to give you plus one culture for every excess happiness in this settlement.
So we want to find the settlement that's got the highest cult or the highest happiness, and then we want to build it in that. Oh gosh, where am I? I'm over here. So in Kahok, our capital, we've got 40 happiness. In Appalachia, we've got 26, 25, 28, 24.
So we can put extra happiness resources in here as well, but we want to build an Inia by the looks of it. So that's going to align up; that'll be two turns that we need for that. So we'll go ahead; we'll take this.
We might duck down to a couple of other masteries, but we don't need it right now. We're up to 600 gold, so let's go ahead and we will turn this into a city. Let's think about where we're going to be putting down our monuments.
So, IDE for our monuments, we'd love them on this tile, but to get out here, we're going to need to cut through a nice little path. So we could instead—because we don't have a whole lot—we can purchase one. We don't have the resources to purchase a second one, but what we'll do is we'll go ahead.
Now that this has all been built up, we'll start to move those resources over from our previous town. Oh, it doesn't have a whole lot of production in there, though, so we don't want to go too crazy with it.
So I think that's probably reasonable. We can take the camel out and put it over here as long as there's no happiness. We want to move all of our happiness into Kokia, and now we can look to expand out for the rest of this.
Let's continue adding in; we want more production, and we want to add in our monuments, and we want them up against the wall. So this one right here is going to be perfect, and that'll kick us out again.
We could throw our specialist into here; I think it would make the most sense. The altar is going to go in, and can we get this set down? I think we're going to be able to get it down. This is actually a really nice settle right here from a strategic standpoint.
Maybe we just keep this as a—oh my God, that's so disgusting! Why are we unhappy? Excuse me, little town, why are you unhappy? Let me fix you up, buddy. There you go; no, don't say that.
Hold on; don't worry; we're going to fix him up. He's not going to look like that forever. We'll be able to fix him up. I think we probably want to go another specialist here. Is there anybody that's really that—oh, this is quite a special one.
Culture is actually starting to get kind of crazy now. I don't even know if we need to go that deep into culture. Maybe we don't even need to do that; maybe we just move more into production. Maybe I'm just overthinking it.
You know what? Culture's always a good thing. Let's add that tile. Now we're happy; now we're happy! All of a sudden, amphitheater was made for players, and we have unlocked our very important mathematics technology—one of the most important.
So from here, I think we probably want to just go straight up to iron working and look to make sure that we've got cavalry. You can always try and rush it, but it can be a bit dangerous. We'll go into the San Stup here, and let's just hold position for now.
I think this is probably our—if we had to choose a border, I mean, they're both H. Everyone's happy with us. This is incredible, dude. This is absolutely crazy. We could—let's have a happiness—let's all be happy together!
I don't even need to hold my borders at this point; everybody's just very happy. I think that's largely because we never forward settled Confucius, so he's just not had an excuse to be up with us.
Let's continue, though. Academy now going to be coming through. We're going to add on this tile. Thank you, thank you. We could technically go here, which is quite nice, but this one right here, we want to stack up those specialists.
There's already one in there, and we are going to take extra science. This is just—I mean, at this point in the game, we are just running away with the game, right? It's really not even that close from a macro perspective, like a Sim City perspective.
To be fair, Confucius's science is looking quite good, but once we come online with our—I suspect he's probably got his online, which is why he's so far ahead in science—then it could be a little bit different.
So we'll continue to expand; we're going to go right into his territory. Oh, we snagged away one of his world wonders! I totally forgot! Oh, I totally forgot we denied that settlement from him. He doesn't get that settle anymore; that is a tough spot.
How are we doing with regard to cities? Where else do we go? We could look to make this, but at this point, we've got—how many cities have we got? We're sitting on—this is a city, this is a city, this is a city, this is a city.
So that's four; we've got eight settlements, four of them are cities, but I'm confident by the end of this we won't even need towns. That's what I'm thinking. Let's continue adding in; we'll take Al Apache city; that is absolutely fine.
We'll go into economic, and now we can start really pushing it at this point. We can look for our next specialist, so there's nothing here that's really calling to me right now. Maybe like the city center, but even then, it's—oh, I don't—that's pretty good, actually.
Yeah, you got me; you convinced me. It's literally just the palace, but I'm like, yep, that'll do, that'll do, donkey. Let's take a look; there's nothing here that we really want to grab, so we'll just prioritize production and science wherever we can.
Ally with Confucius? We'll reject that. Sorry, Confucius; we love you, but just not that much. Now iron working, and now from here, it's smooth sailing from this point. The yields are starting to look good; we're at 101 on both of them.
We need three more world wonders, so we've got the Temple or the Pyramid of the Sun that's coming up over here, and we've got the San St that's coming here. So that's going to give us two more. We've got this lovely little commander that's still sitting here.
One day, don't worry, one day we'll give you a nice little place. Should we come back and finish him off? I think we should. Let's do it. We'll let these guys just chill for the moment; we'll throw them in the city.
We have completely eaten his entire—well, almost his entire world wonder or natural wonder right there. We'll move into philosophy; we've got a very important world wonder in there. We could think about doing the right thing.
There we go, granary. Let's put the granary down as well. We're just going to—and we'll put down ancient walls. We're just buying up everything, and that's because we've got 137 gold a minute, or gold a turn rather, which is just pumping.
We're entering our next celebration, and we're going to obviously take that. We've got an option right now. I mean, at this point, there's nothing here that we—oh, actually, I take it back. On top of that, we can also get rid of that and put it in the extra culture because we're actually using those.
We're building amphitheaters; we're building at this stage of the game. We are starting to look very, very healthy when it comes to our numbers here, and we're just going to accept these just because we've got so much influence.
We're at 40 influence a turn here, so it's not a huge deal if we do take them. Was that a war? No, that was someone taking out a wonder. No way! That was San St, Pyramid of the Sun! We got Pyramid of the Sun denied!
That is incredible, but a whole bunch of production has been rolled over, and that means that we can now take—we could go for Nanda, or we could go Gate of All Nations. Now, the likelihood that someone takes Gate of All Nations at this point is quite low.
It's still going to happen, but it's low. So we're going to just try and get Nanda instead, and then we'll get Gate of All Nations afterwards. What do you think about that? I think that's a fair deal; I think that's a fair shake of the sauce bottle.
Now we've got—I think we're still under construction here. Yeah, oh no, we did actually finish that. So let's take a look. So we've got a—that's decent extra science; we'll take that. I mean, at this point in the game, though, the thing is, like, realistically, what do we need the extra science for?
That's what you need it for. No, it's unlocked through the cultural tree. So I don't know if San Stupa tells you how much culture it contributes. There could be—actually, there might be a way to check. Give me a second here.
So if we go have a look in here and we scroll down to wonders, San St doesn't say here, but what about culture income yield from surplus happiness? We're getting nine culture at the moment from surplus happiness. There you go; that's not too bad—a nine culture wonder.
That's pretty good; I'll take that one. Okay, let's take a look at our blacksmith and where we're going to be putting down. This is going to be like the final piece of the puzzle. You could put it right here; I don't think that's terrible.
But how are you going to actually put it down? Oh, how are you going to put it down if there's this guy standing right on the damn tile? So that's not going to be possible. Have we got anywhere for our amphithe? Our amphithe can go right here.
So let's go ahead; we'll throw that in, barracks together with the blacksmith. Those all make sense, and the Lander comes through, so we managed to get that. At this point, we're at six out of seven; we've absolutely economied out of our mind here.
Things are looking very well for us; there's not much that could go wrong. Everybody's happy with us. We've also picked up an extra scientific point, so we'll throw that in the tech tree. We've got extra science that we'll take from this one.
Realistically, we can head into navigation, and we can look to pick up our final building. Other than that, I mean, there's nothing in here that's too—that we might really want to go after. Maybe Colossus isn't terrible either at this point in the game.
We're just kind of collecting or trading the world wonders like Pokémon, and we can pick up some more happiness right here in the villa. So we'll add that in, and what other options have we got? We've got another—let's throw down another villa down here.
Keep in mind that all of these buildings still pick up that extra little bit of gold. That's how we're sitting at 143 at the moment. We could take plus one science from specialists; we're at 134 at the moment, but that's going to push us up to 144.
So we are approaching a pretty decent amount of science here. Now we can finally clear out this guy and look to put something down. Our last slot here around the capital, I think everything else has been completely filled out.
But that's going to provide that adjacency bonus as well, which will be absolutely love. Oh wow, look at these tiles! In fact, this is probably a little bit more important. The silver's quite nice in the event that we ever get war declared on us.
Sorry, Catherine; I know that you—I know that the other guys aren't too much of a fan of you. And look at the amount of food that we're getting right here. Let's think about adding in another city here. We're at 500 gold, but we'll take it.
We can just buy an academy outright at this point. I think this is the tile that we want to put the academy on. So hear me out for a second. What if we purchased—okay, we probably want to leave that for a library.
Okay, what if we purchased a monument here? And then what if we purchased a granary here? And then what if we purchased a fishing key? No, that's not going to work. We'll need to build another connector in here.
What's a cheap connector? We could probably put a garden down. I think that's going to make the most sense. There's nothing else that's really that cheap. So if we go garden—I mean, there's a nice garden right there; that's the problem.
But we don't really care about food; we're just using it as a connector so that we can get to the most important component of the build, which is making sure that we've got all of our—are the most important component as we do actually head through into the exploration age.
Because we're going to be looking to pick up our golden age, and that's going to be instrumental. Anchor, what? It's time for you to come online. This is probably a really good spot for the anchor. We've got the bath; we've got the altar.
Actually, it's a terrible spot; there's no adjacencies there whatsoever. But there will be an adjacency right here, so let's go ahead and put that on flat plains. So we'll go ahead and take that. Next up, we've got the altar, and I suspect we can probably just put it on that tile.
It gets a little bit more difficult towards this stage of the game because you've got so many cities now that you're managing. How—I don't know exactly how many we're up to, but we are well and truly pulling ourselves away from the AIs.
So we can now start to look at collecting all of our codc here. So we might start off with military training; that's going to give us happiness on one plus happiness on happiness buildings, and we've got quite a few of them across the empire.
We can also look at what other civics we've got in here for our Mississippian bonuses. We've got one gold and happiness for every imported resource. There's nothing in here that's too crazy or stands out, but the extra two resources that we can hold will be quite nice.
We'll grab some more food; why not? We could actually go into production, but I think having that extra food is just going to be a little bit nicer. We're on 12, 29 gold; that'll push us to 136. So we're not really getting a whole lot of imported stuff at the moment.
We could look to go into a lighthouse, but I think just adding in a villa here is going to make the most sense just to build up that influence count even more. Keep in mind that that will carry over as we think more and more about moving into the next era.
Now we can add in that Gate of All Nations. The Gate of All Nations—it's such a good world wonder, and it just sits there, just, you know, not being taken. So we're quite happy to take it.
Have we really finished? Like, all of the buildings in here are just done? That is incredible! We could look for a garden-market combo somewhere, but we've got nothing. There's absolutely nowhere to put it.
You could go for a granary; we could go for an arena. Arena down here is a five. How is that a five? But I—I’ve got no idea. At this point, I don't even know what we're bothering to make. I think we just go for the garden and the market combo.
The thing that we need to remember is that we just don't put a specialist on it because it doesn't actually provide us any real bonus. All right, so we've cleared this out. Does that mean—so we can't actually build on it yet because I think the fire is on there.
So we'll have to allow the fire to subside. We'll move these guys back, and I'm just watching all the unit movements, and I'm thinking, okay, they're going to declare war. It's only on the lower difficulties that they actually just randomly declare war.
On the higher difficulties, they don't. On the higher difficulties, they will 100% play the way that they should depending on where you're at. Gate of All Nations is up; it's constructed in Alabama. I think that's all of us done.
Yeah, we managed to finish that one out. So that is all five, all seven world wonders done. The reason why I didn't put them all on the same turn here is just because, well, there's no guarantee that we're actually going to be able to do this military path.
I'm not thinking that we want to go to war. War is going to take a really long time if we actually do it. To be honest, I think at this point, we're already sitting at an hour and 34 minutes for this video, and it's probably better that we close it out sooner rather than later.
War? Look, we can definitely do a video about war, but it's going to be a video about war. I think whenever you're doing a macro video or a city-building video, it should probably remain that way. Don't get me wrong; I like to do war; it's just that we need to be careful about how we do it because this could very rapidly turn into like a 70—maybe not that long, but it gets pretty long.
Okay, now our next specialist, and the key thing that I'm thinking about here is like as we move closer and closer towards future tech, the one thing that's staying in my mind is it doesn't really matter with regard to our specialists and the fact that we're getting closer and closer to that position.
Oh, here we go; we're finally here—the moment of truth. We could purchase it, or we could just build it, which is the correct way. We could also build a library, so we can get ourselves something nice. What have we got?
Oh, we've got barb camps now. The good thing about the barb camps is that you can actually just block out all of the tiles, and then they can't do anything. So what we can do is we can take the fishing key.
Now that's not going to work; we need to go for something a little bit more—let's just go with the barracks, and we'll drop it down here. Have we got the resources? I think we do, so we'll drop the barracks there, and that's going to kick the citizen out.
Then we'll take that tile, and then from here, we'll grab the granary and put it on this tile, and that's going to kick that citizen out. Then we'll drop that in. Now they can't spawn in this position; they can spawn here; they can also spawn in between these little spots as well.
So what we're going to do is we'll just bring everybody up over here in preparation, and we'll take one more look. So we get minus six combat strength against independent or minus ten gold for each city-state that you're suzerain of. I think that sounds like a great deal.
We'll go ahead and take that. We've got absolutely no military at this point. We've got a handful of units here. Hey, guys, hey fellas, that's enough; that's enough. So the more likely spot—yeah, that they spawn is going to be this spot right here, and that's exactly where they did spawn.
So we'll still keep an eye on this spot here. I think we will just try and close this off sooner rather than later. So we'll go ahead and—did we never—oh, we never doubled this one up. Oh no, we never doubled this one up.
So we'll check the altar in there. Oh gosh, we didn't even give it an altar. Oh man, that's painful. All right, we'll put that down, and then we'll put the expansion. So I don't think we can expand that out any further because that's one, two, three.
Oh, we could take this tile right here. I think that tile is always going to remain open, though. There's a part of me that thinks I can settle on that tile. No, I can't. Okay, so if you can't settle on it, that means that you can take it.
We've got one, two, three from that direction as well. So what can we purchase here? Nothing, no buildings at least, but we can expand. You better believe we're expanding; that's our final tile, and that's all closed up now.
So now we don't have to worry about that. Now we can just send all of trips over towards managing this little problem over here. This should all be completely closed off as well. I think we're going to be fine.
So this is all of this is just going to be our main worry, and that's how you can easily manage crises in the late game because I know that a lot of people have difficulty with crises. To be honest, the one that I dislike the most is the plague.
I really dislike it because you literally just do nothing. It feels so terrible, man. It's like I'm trying to build a world wonder, and it's just like, sorry, I can't build a world wonder; I'm too busy just being mad. That's not fun; I don't like that.
Have we got any other world wonders that we can build in here? We might just complete all of our arenas, get as much happiness as we possibly can, and try and complete as many buildings as we possibly can as well.
Let's bring him around. Do we need any more of these towns? I think if there's going to be a candidate to move into a city, it's probably this one here. But to be honest, I think at this point, I mean, our towns are just growing, and they will be turned into cities at this point.
I guess another consideration to make is that when we move into the next age—okay, it looks like everything's under control here; we're not too fast about it. As we move into the next age, we're going to have to pay to have all of our cities returned back to cities.
Now going to be completed; that's going to allow us to have that next specialist in that city. This good work, so we'll go and put a specialist in. What have we got? We've got a villa, so we probably want it in the villa because those are getting some nice little bonuses.
And we'll take more, even more—one plus one gold and happiness for every imported resource. I don't think this is a lot—261 up to 268. Yeah, it's only seven, so we'll go ahead; we'll slot that out.
Even though it does sound good, it's a nice little tradition. We instead just take one culture from specialists, and then that pushes us up to 241 culture. We can now look to get that academy. Finally, we can get that academy down; it's been sitting here all game.
Actually, we could just chuck it in the center. Is there any reason why we shouldn't? Yeah, because we got a blacksmith, so we want to try and pair these guys up just because when we do put the specialist in, it's going to be a little bit more advantageous for us to do that.
I'm getting a little bit of lag. Even though it's like 140 frames, whenever I open that city command, it kind of lags. All right, we'll put the lighthouse down; that'll do. I think this has been completely worked out.
I don't think we need to worry too much about it. Thank you very much, Augustus; you've done a great job, Augustus of Egypt. Egypt of Egypt. I do know how to say Egypt; I will let you know right now I do.
We could definitely get a little bit, and we've got a codex as well, and we can now look to grow our city in the capital. Keep in mind, this is—oh my Lord, look at these numbers! These are kind of crazy.
Okay, this one in particular is looking very, very healthy, but I just want to leave it. How long have we got until we complete that? Okay, that's got one turn on it; that's got two. I'm just going to roll that turn over because I want to see the number that we're getting.
Actually, you know what? I think we're going to be fine. We've got 14; we'll be okay. And still more science. Now keep in mind that we are playing on the—I just realized we should have got that mastery so long ago.
Dude, I can't believe that! Oh, that's a huge mistake from us. It's okay; it's not a big deal. I mean, it is a huge deal. When you think about it, it's a plus one production on production buildings, and we've got how many production buildings across our empire?
Like 14, 15, 16, somewhere in that region. It is a lot that we've just been missing out on, so it's one of those things where it's like, well, you probably should have been paying attention. That was a bit silly, wasn't it?
But we'll sort it out, and we continue to expand towards this northern position. Armies come through; we could have just chucked it all in the great general. I know, I know there's going to be somebody that says that, and you're right; we could have.
I'll be honest; it's taken me a while to get used to commanders. I'm so used to just running my entire army across the entirety of the map. What did we pick up? Plus four combat strength when defending; that's not terrible.
Nothing else too crazy in here—plus one resource capacity in cities. We want to look to actually start trading, so let's go and buy our traders right now. We're going to move you down to—actually, we can move him into here, and then we'll purchase more back at this position.
That's 160; we won't be able to afford in this. We could go to an economic or an expansionist attribute point. Now we want to go expansionist, and the reason why is because of the specialist limit that we get down at the bottom.
So what we can do is we can look to go into that tree. So we'll go ahead and take the expansionist point instead of into the economic, and then that will allow us to get further down that ladder. Eventually, we'll get to plus one specialist limit, and we'll have even more specialists to put into our cities.
Because I think if I remember correctly, that's empire-wide, that bonus. Yeah, in all cities, which is crazy, right? Like San Stupa is one city. Like, that's actually—if you were to think about it, that's probably one of the best bonuses that you can get from the leader attribute tree.
Because I know some people will say, oh, it's not that good. Oh, it gets pretty good. All right, we've got access to the future civic right now, and we've got another three turns before that one comes in. Plus, what's this? This is our arena.
We probably want to put something good on the arena. We could—we'll just go ahead and put the garden on the arena just in case that eventually does get a specialist. We put the Amil belly down, and another specialist is now going to come through.
This is going to be our TI blacksmith and academy, and things are starting to shape up. Oh, that's right! Oh, I completely forgot about this town! Sorry, I completely forgot about this city! This is a city, guys! I completely forgot about you!
So can we kick out a rural villager or rural citizen just to see what these numbers are actually going to be looking like? So let's go ahead and kick out—who have we got? We've got this guy down here for a 1512 over here.
Let's—you'll be kicked out, and let's take a look and see. That's a decent amount of science—extra five science; we'll take that. So we managed to cross the 200 threshold, which is pretty good.
I'm kind of curious what numbers you guys are getting. Now keep in mind, if you want to play this save or any of the saves that you see on this channel, they'll be on the Discord, of course, where you'll be able to access them.
So make sure you check those out, but I'm kind of curious to see what kind of numbers you guys are pulling in the games that you're playing. Are we just—we're just going to leave this here, Augustus? You're just going to farm it?
All right, if he's just going to farm it, we'll just let him farm it, and we'll watch on standby just in case. Okay, so now we're going to look to get those traders. So we want to go and trade in here first, and we'll grab this trader here.
And Luong—oh, we're already down here—has got four. So how close are we to picking up? If we double-check our resource count, we probably want to have a look at here. We're probably pretty close.
Yeah, we're one, two, three resources away. So that's got one, two, three, four resources that we can slot. So that will actually give us the win condition on that position. And wow, that was not pretty; we bugged out for a second there.
We're okay, though, and now we can move towards our final technologies. We're really just looking to finish out every single one of these cities here and make them as big as we possibly can for exploration.
Now we've got this option here; we can come through to G, so we'll go do that and put you on standby. Even though Augustus isn't clearing you out, and the Amil bell comes through, this is the diplomatic point, which is quite powerful.
So the further down we get that, the better. So that's going to give us—so one of the cool ways to think about it is like, okay, so here, as an example, we've got 60 happiness, so that's going to be giving us a total of 12.
But now, because we've got that extra diplomatic point, and that's going to give us an extra point of happiness for every single resource that's in that city. So the more resources that we can put in the city, then the more that that's going to give us.
But we can't put our resources yet; it won't let us. We need to unlock resources first for it to actually work. So this is still our capital that we can build buildings in, by the way. We've got access to the arena, to the villa that we haven't built yet.
We could put the villa right in the middle; I'm absolutely not against that. We've got the bath out here as well; we've got a whole bunch of different things. But you know what? There's a part of me that says just put it in the middle.
Just put it in the middle! All right, we're going to put it in the middle, even though you shouldn't. We'll put it in the middle. We've got our production at this point; it's just off the chain. This is absolutely ludicrous.
But I think when it comes to playing Civ 7, because this is a huge component of this playthrough, it's about understanding what you want to do and what your goal is. I think that what we've set out to achieve here has 100% been the optimal way.
If you're going to play a Sim City game, this is the kind of setup that you'd want for it. These cities are of a decent size here—26, 25, 26 population. They're all quite big, and I think that because of that, it just makes sense to do this.
Now, of course, this strategy is probably going to be limited to Ashoka. I don't think you're going to be able to pull this off with every single leader, and that's part of what makes him so strong. We're sitting at 300 happiness right now.
We're sitting at an absolutely—so this should hopefully—oh, we got to check here. We're at 79%. How are we doing on our codex, by the way? Oh, have we already finished? We've already finished our science victory path.
So that's going to be our final victory path right here. So look, we did three out of four, which isn't terrible. We'll take those, and that's going to give us our third one. Now we can slot these in for a little bit of extra happiness, which pushes us up.
We're making 78 happiness here, and our crisis continues. At this point, we can take the extra gold and food reduction in towns with a specialization because we don't actually have any towns that are specializing because they're all growing, preparing to become cities.
Oh, what's going on here, Augustus? Augustus, what have you been doing? It's all right; we'll be able to sort him out. We want to switch these two, but that's going to mean that that one comes off cooldown, and we'll give the command to—let's go!
We'll hunker down for the moment. All right, we've got an offer that's come through. Now there's still a couple bonuses that we're missing. Did we just lose a unit? I swear I heard a unit; we lost a unit. Maybe we didn't.
Now we're all good—plus one culture on culture buildings, and then we're into the future tech. We're at 88% at the moment—15% towards constructing wonders. Now, are there actually any wonders that are left in this game?
Because I think all of them have been built. I don't think there's a single city that can build world wonders right now. Let's continue looking—nothing, nothing. I think every single world wonder has been built right now.
So by actually just accepting her offer, we get six culture, and we would get nothing if we paid to support it. So we'll just go ahead and accept it. We'll take the free culture; absolutely welcome!
And now—oh, thank you very much, mate! My son's just coming in. Thank you, mate; he's given me a letter. Thank you, buddy. You go out and see Mom. Just coming in and giving me a letter.
So he's just been out to the mailbox. Thanks, little guy! But let's finally level up our commander, and we'll of course take order, which is going to be the best one by far. That's going to give us a much-needed boost here on the front lines.
We'll look to take out each of these units here. We're doing quite a bit of damage. We could push into that, but the problem is we're absolutely going to destroy him. We've got a very high amount of base strength here, so we're going to avoid doing that.
We'll go into our future civic; we'll grab our last celebration for the game, or at least what I assume will be our last celebration for the game. I don't think we realistically need anything in here.
We are absolutely—we're cooking! We are absolutely cooking at this stage of the game. We'll throw in a lighthouse over here as well, and an arena. Is there anywhere—I mean, there's 17 buildings, so this is going to be—oh, a bath!
I can't actually believe—are we building every single—oh, the 17th building went into the city center, of course it did! Of course it did! Okay, blacksmith and academy—nice! But I like this.
This is—I mean, we get more production, though, and I think in the long run, production is just going to make a little bit more sense than not having production. So at this point, let's just roll everything into research initiatives just because that's going to allow us to end the turn slightly faster.
Got fortifications up; we're at 88% at the moment, and now we go for future tech, and that's probably going to be us ending the game in about two turns here. I want to have a look at that final stat line; that's going to be the thing that is most important to me.
Keep in mind this whole time we've had accumulated influence just sitting there ready to go in the event that somebody does actually get a bad idea. But of course, we're not going to allow them to just take an easy fight.
So from this position here, we'll go into a bath, and we'll add in an amphithe as well. We've got—is there anywhere decent that we can put it down? Black—oh, right! We did the whole moving things, and we'll do a fishing key as well on the bath just to really push up the yields.
Then we'll also throw in an arena out here, and we'll just put everybody back onto alert. We should probably just sleep them, though, to be honest, just in case any more rogue units come down here. I don't know what happened with Augustus; just not letting things go.
Things got a little bit too crazy, and our final specialist for this town, and we'll do a research initiative, and we'll do another research initiative. I could technically be making the Pock Top, which would give us a little bit of a boost, but we're just being lazy.
Improve our trade relations; let's get those last little bits of trades through. We'll take those; it's quite a nice amount of resources that we've got here. We do have more that we can put in from Chickasaw City, but we're just going to go ahead and end our turn.
We're at 90%, 95%, and next turn we will be finished with our last building—the arena about to come down. It was an absolutely picture-perfect playthrough. I don't think you could really ask for much better than that.
We had a little bit of trouble with barb camps in the early game, but look, by the time the mid-game rolled around, we were able to get away with it. Fortunately, Augustus didn't forward settle us as much as he should have.
In the end, he only had four settlements; we had eight. We had six on Confucius, and we had five on Catherine. When it comes to the yields, we were absolutely miles ahead of everybody except for Confucius on science.
We were just only a little bit ahead, but our culture is well and truly ahead. At this point, it is time for us to end the Age of Antiquity. So our last little bit of growth here, we'll go ahead and just grab our specialists.
What have we got? Granary and bath, a garden and an AR. We'll take that one, and we've got another specialist that we can go into. I think we probably just—we'll just take the SPIT in the brickyard.
I don't know why we're accepting those. Oh, they received 700 science! That's a decent amount of science! I wish I knew how much a tech cost and how much 700 science actually meant because I have got no idea how much that actually means.
Pock Top! Pock Top! Pock Top! Okay, those are some yields, that is for sure! Pock Top! More Pock Tops! Research initiative; let's get this finished. You know, we're being completionists here; we want to have all buildings and all Pock Tops.
Well, there's a good chance that we could pick something that synergizes with the Pock Top, so get it down while you can, and then that way you don't have to worry about it when it rolls over into the next era.
And we roll over, ladies and gentlemen! That's it! Turn 76 rolling over to turn 77. Let's take a look and see what we're going to run as we move into the Age of Exploration because I've got a couple of ideas about how we could play it and synergies that we could look for.
It's almost two hours through this video, and I hope that you've enjoyed it. The Mississippians and Ashoka are an incredible combination—the Ashokan Asokians. We managed to pick up 331 and three, which is not too bad.
We will absolutely take that. In the end, we had eight settlements; we had 14, 23, and then 10 world wonders, so we were absolutely killing it there. We don't pick up any XP because Ashoka is already level 10.
We leveled him up because of the Discord, which if you want to level up your leader, make sure you check out. We've got everything that you need in there to maximize your leader bonuses.
Let's take a look at what options we've got because I'm thinking that there's probably only one way that this is going to go, and I'm sure you can already suspect what it is. We did actually unlock pretty much every civilization here, but for me, there is only one that stands out in my heart, and that is, of course, the Troller.
I think this has got to be the Troller, right? I don't see any way that you do it differently here. The reason why is just because it's another one of those happiness-focused civilizations. But we will leave it here; we will leave the decision unknown for the moment.
Tell me what you think we should actually pick. What do you think is going to be the best for us here? Because I'll be honest, I don't actually know all of the synergies yet. In fact, I don't know very many of the exploration age synergies. My focus has been almost exclusively on antiquity.
So I'll leave that one for you, and of course, if you've enjoyed today's video, make sure you hit the like button. If you're looking forward to more Civilization 7 content, then make sure you hit the subscribe button because there is always going to be time for one more turn.
