Welcome back, everybody! Clen here. Today, I'm excited to bring you another review of a Bull Armory pistol. If you saw my review of the SAS2 Tac, this guy right here, then you know I'm a fan of Bull Armory. I'm a big fan of this gun, but when it comes to concealed carry, it might just be a little too big for me. At least, that's why I'm really happy that they pretty much threw this gun in the dryer and left it in there for too long, bringing us the Ultralight, which is pretty much the SS2 Tac mini.
Now, this little guy right here, I'm going to take to the range in just a moment, right outside, as long as the weather doesn't hinder us too much. It is snowing some right now, and I think I'm going to go when there's a lull, so we'll cut into that here in just a minute.
But I do want to go ahead and talk about the specs and features of this pistol because the Ultralight isn't anything new from Bull Armory. However, there is something new about the Ultralight for this year, at least for Q4 2024.
So, let's hop right into it. The Ultralight is Bull Armory's answer to concealed carry. Obviously, it's a double stack 9mm that comes with three 16-round magazines. That's awesome, if you ask me. New for 2024 is the Bull Armory optic mounting system, or the BAO system. Instead of having two sets of set screws, you just have one set of screws that go through the optic into the adapter and into the slide, which, if you ask me, is awesome. That adapter does have a stabilizing post built in, so it takes the tension off the screws, which is super nice.
Additionally, new for the Ultralight this year is the overmold and grip texture. It's going to be just like the SAS2 Tac, so you're going to have that wonderful grip texture that I think is a fabulous balance between too aggressive and just right. You don't want it to be so aggressive that you can't run drills all day long with it, but you want it to be aggressive enough so that if it's snowing outside or you're sweaty, it doesn't shift around in your hands while you're shooting, doing any types of reloads, or manipulating the controls.
So, yeah, you still want to have a little bit of an aggressive texture, at least for me personally, and I think this is pretty much ideal. Additionally, it has a full-length Picatinny rail, which I will probably throw a Streamlight TLR-7A on.
Also, it has a fantastic trigger. We can talk about that really quick because you're going to see that we've got just a little bit of take-up here before we hit that wall, and then the trigger drops. The reset has barely any travel whatsoever. Freaking awesome!
Alright, 3 to 3.5 lbs. Speaking of threes, we have a 3.75-inch barrel on this. You'll also notice we have front and rear slide serrations that match and look really good. I am a fan of front slide serrations because I do like the press check. Is it practical? Some can argue no, some can argue yes, just to make sure your extractor has a good grip on that chambered round.
But let's all be very honest here: I do it because it's kind of like a tactical fidget spinner. For some reason, it's really fun. I don't know what to tell you.
Now, another really cool thing that comes in the bag, besides a bunch of little swag stickers and things like that, is this: a concealed carry-oriented flared magwell. If you wanted something that gives you a little more guidance to throw that mag in, it comes in the box. Personally, I'm probably not going to throw that on there because it's right where, even though I know it's concealed carry-oriented, it's going to minimize how much it is actually flared compared to this guy down here.
So, I get it, but because I do like to carry inside the waistband, appendix carry, whatever, that's what's going to print. I want to try to minimize that as much as possible, so I most likely won't be throwing that magwell on. But as you can tell, as I've been manipulating it here, it's very easy to insert that magazine anyway.
So, it's not like I'm going to be struggling with that. We'll see how that turns out in a later video when I actually start running some serious drills with this pistol and doing more concealed carry type stuff.
Alright, cool. Now, like I said, I do want to throw an optic on here. The footprint for the optic for the BAO system is the Holosun or RMSc. And like I said, I will be throwing a light on here, and I'll most likely be rocking this holster with it. This is the Alpha Mega Kydex new Cryos Tuxedo model. Really pretty, really good looking, and something, like I said, I'll probably be wearing very soon in videos to come.

You know, I have to be honest with you guys. For an ultralight gun with a 3.5-inch barrel under 24 oz, it's nowhere near as snappy as I thought it was going to be. Yes, it's still a little snappy, but guys, this is a very easy gun to manage.
I mean, let's just finish off this mag really quick here into this target. There you have it. Let's just go ahead and make that reload. That feels good. That feels really good, actually.
So, I've got the gun stripped right now—this is no optic, no light. I just wanted to get a feel for the pistol and its ultimate felt recoil as is, and I'm telling you guys, it's pretty freaking nice.
Let's go one-handed with it.
Alright, the first thing I did there, I thought I was accustomed to putting my thumb on top of the safety while shooting. What I noticed was when I immediately went to shoot this one-handed, I dropped my thumb below the safety, thus incorporating a malfunction because my thumb pushed up just enough on the safety to keep it from operating like it should.
So, that's something I need to keep in mind when shooting: always rest my thumb on top of the safety.
With two hands, it's very easy because my non-dominant thumb allows my dominant thumb to rest on top. But here, if I just even do that a little bit, that's going to cause a malfunction. So, I need to make sure I'm doing that right there.
Yeah, that's a good feeling little pistol, guys. I am a fan of that. It shoots really well.
Now, expect me to do another review of this gun after I get some more rounds through it. This is only an initial review talking about the pistol and what Bull Armory has to offer, and like I said, it feels good. It feels really good.
Alright, let's go ahead and finish out this mag. I got one more somewhere on me here. Let's do that. Let's just finish this one out nice and fast because that's what's fun to do, right?

Alright, range time got cut a little short due to some snow, and I want to protect my camera for obvious reasons. But that's okay because I'm going to do a thousand-round review on the Ultralight, just like I did on the TAC.

Final thoughts after shooting it: nowhere near as snappy as I thought it was going to be. Is it snappier than other guns in its classification? Absolutely not. I found this gun to be very easy to manage, very easy to stay on target, and I really like how it performed.
So, that's that really.
Now, something I want to note really quick is the low-profile hammer. Bam! This guy right here.

If you wanted to carry it with the hammer forward, it's pretty much impossible because you would have to, well, cock it, have one in the chamber, deactivate the safety, and then pull back. For those of you that don't know what I'm talking about, yes, I keep this gun loaded because I trust it.
If you wanted to carry with the hammer forward, because some people consider that to be safer than utilizing the safety, okay. So, if you wanted to do that, you pull back on the hammer and let it ride forward after you pull the trigger. Easy enough, right?
I don't recommend that because, like I said, be a man or be a woman and chamber around and carry with the safety on. Done deal.
Okay, with this gun, because it has such a slim, low-profile hammer, if you wanted to actually send the hammer forward without getting the gun to go bang, that's going to be very difficult.
We are clear, so if I wanted to do that, I would have to depress the grip safety separately, not all together, and then ride it forward, which is going to pinch my thumb. Even still, I can't really do that.
So, that's half-cocked. No. Carry it like you're supposed to: one in the chamber, safety on. That's all I have to say about that.
