Now, let's follow the path of a user request. It starts in the browser. After DNS resolution, the request heads to our application servers. But before it gets there, it hits two critical components: load balancers and reverse proxies. Think of them as traffic directors. Tools like NGINX and HAProxy distribute requests across multiple application servers, balancing their load and preventing any one server from getting overwhelmed.
Next up, content delivery networks, or CDNs. These are distributed globally, serving static content like images and JavaScript closer to users. The result? Faster load times and less strain on your core infrastructure.
Now the request reaches your web application servers. These handle all your core business logic but often need to talk to other systems. That's where APIs come in, connecting the app to backend services that process complex logic, communicate with third-party systems, or handle data transformations. This API-driven approach keeps the system modular and scalable.

For heavier tasks, we use job workers. Not everything can be done in real time, so for resource-intensive or long-running tasks, job queues come in handy. These tasks are offloaded to worker nodes, keeping the main app fast and responsive.
If the app needs search functionality, services like Elasticsearch are invaluable. They provide fast, flexible access to large data sets, helping users find what they need quickly.
With all these moving parts, solid monitoring is critical. Tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and Datadog help track everything: logs, performance metrics, and resource usage. This catches issues before they impact users.
Finally, when something does go wrong, we need reliable alerting platforms. Tools like PagerDuty send real-time alerts to the team to ensure issues are resolved quickly. No one likes surprises in production, so fast alerts are essential.
