Hello YouTube! Welcome back. I am so happy you're here. You are going to love today's video where we're actually going to talk about the self-concept that is needed in order for you to release weight and never gain it back again. So, stay tuned and let's get into it.
All right, so I am Melissa Katherine. If you're new to me, I'm a holistic nutritionist. I have a background in the psychology of food, self-sabotage, and women and our emotions. I also am a trauma-informed coach, and I've been doing this for almost 20 years, helping thousands of women around the world to release weight without dieting, come into wholeness, and truly become limitless so they thrive in life in a body that they love. And who doesn't want that?
All right, guys, so here's the primary thing that I really want to share that's so important because I'm going to be really honest here. Um, and I would be remiss if I didn't say this. I really don't care about weight loss. Um, and I know I teach it, and I know I have a ton of programs. We have our award-winning Love Your Body, Lose the Weight program, linked below, that is 83% off just for you ladies, um, for up until the end of this month, um, or this month, this week, um, and other courses. And I love it because I do find weight to be a portal into getting women to be more connected intuitively to their bodies, to find their confidence, and to find that inner power within themselves. And I find that weight is often the barrier that gets in the way. And they then, and there's a lot of beauty that comes from that.
So, you might be going, "Okay, well, then why are you here?" And I really want to share this with you. So, you might not know this, but, um, I actually won the International Natural Body Federation. I won second place in the Best Body, um, division, and it was, like I said, the INBF. It was in New York City, and, um, it was my first fitness competition. It was incredible. I transformed my body, I won, I loved the process, um, and and and it was also, um, a very, uh, mentally and emotionally, um, challenging process that I can go more into in a separate video if you want that, let me know. I share this with you though because I gained the weight back very, very quickly after, and it did a number to my psyche. It did a number to my ego. Um, and I already did not have a good self-concept.
Now, why I gained the weight back was because I actually didn't change my identity. I, and and I want to tell you this: if you have lost weight and gained it back, and lost weight and gained it back again, it is not because there's something wrong with you. It is not because you need a better diet or you need more discipline. It is because you have not changed your self-concept. And that's what we're going to do in today's video. I'm going to share with you what self-concept is. I'm going to share with you what it looks like and how it shows up in your world. How we can change your self-concept so that it can work for you and not against you, and how you can truly use your self-concept to manage, manifest your ideal body and keep the weight off for good.
All right, so the mindset is one of the biggest pieces and keys and your relationship to yourself that I found in all of this. It doesn't, I mean, why this is why with Biggest Loser, they gained the weight back, right? Because nobody had changed their identity. We can all do, everybody here can eat grilled chicken and broccoli, and you can do any of those videos where it shows you a crazy transformation in a short period of time. And if you will eat less and move more, that will happen for you. But if you don't change who you are, and if you don't believe you're deserving of that weight loss, which is what I have found with women time and time again, and that's why I created my Love Your Body, Lose the Weight program to actually create a holistic program that worked on your mind, body, soul, spirit to align you to believe that you're deserving and worthy of not only effortless weight loss, but loving your body, being connected to your body, trusting your body, and most of all, loving what you saw reflected back to you in the mirror.
So, self-concept is not self-love. Self-love is the, is your relationship to yourself. It's, do you like yourself? Right? We want to start there. Self-concept though, I find so much more powerful than Law of Attraction. Self-concept really goes back to Neville Goddard, who, um, I love all of his teachings, and, um, and he's just incredible. And he really speaks into everything that you experience in your life is a direct reflection of your relationship to yourself. What you believe you're deserving of having is what you have. Who you believe you are is what you are getting back in this world. And what you believe about, let's just take weight loss, what you believe about you losing weight is what you will experience. If you believe that it's hard, it's going to be hard for you. If you believe it's filled with restriction and deprivation, it's going to be filled with restriction and deprivation. If you believe that it gets to be fun, it's going to be fun. If you believe it's easy for you, it's going to be easy for you.
If you tell yourself that you're in menopause and it's all downhill from here, if you tell yourself after having a baby, your body's shot, if you tell yourself that after the age of 30, like there's so many stories that the society will scare you with to get you to buy things via marketing, please. And I'm telling you, if it doesn't feel good for you, it's not meant for you. And if it doesn't feel good for you, stop saying it to yourself because it's not true. Right? What feels good for us? What resides true for us? Our soul is like, "Hell yes!" and it feels good in our bodies. So, always, always, always remember that.
Now, the next piece here with self-concept is, what do you, who do you believe yourself, yourself to be? What do you believe people say and think about you? What do you say and think about yourself? What are your inner conversations? Do you not look at yourself in the mirror? Do you get dressed and go, "Oh, I look so fat today," or "Oh my God, look at my belly or my thighs, I can't show those," or "I, I mean, there's nothing in here fits me. I don't look good in anything. I should only wear black." Um, "I'm too old to be wearing that. I'm too young to wear this." I, I don't look good in patterns. Like, these are all just stories. These are all stories.
And often, I find, and like I said, I have had thousands of women go through our programs. We've been doing this for almost 20 years. Um, I, I don't say that lightly. I have, I have, I not only went through my own journey that I can speak to that gives me insight, and that's why everyone that goes through my programs is like, "Every time you teach a new module, it's like you're reading my mind and the questions that I have and everything." I'm like, "Because I've been you. I know exactly what you're thinking. I know exactly how it feels to have crazy food thoughts, to have guilt and shame around food, to overeat and beat yourself up, to want nothing more than to release the weight and feel like it's so far away from you, to want nothing more than that, but at the same time, you still overeat, to feel your emotions override you, to feel like you're eating on autopilot, to care more about food than these other things in your life, and to sit there and feel like you're crazy and you don't want to tell anybody." It's not, it, you feel like you're insane. And I'm telling you, you're normal. It's okay. Let's normalize it. And normalize it in a way where we start to take the shame and the guilt away, and we just start to go, "It's just okay. Food was like, it's got a lot of emotion wrapped to it. There's a lot of psychology wrapped to it. There's a lot in, in the way that we learn to soothe and for our survival and our emotional soothing that we teach ourselves as young children." There's so much that I can go into here on the link with our inner child and the way that we learn to cope and soothe.
But right now, I want you to know that you have the power to change your self-concept and your relationship to your body. You have, right now, you have the power to change and to tell yourself that it's easy for you to lose weight. Do you know that your body hears everything you say to it? Every thought that you think on a cellular level, your cells have these little receptors, and they are going, "Wait, she said it's easy for us to lose weight? Wait, she's saying it's hard for us? Wait, she's saying that if we eat a brownie, it's going to make us fat? Wait, she's saying that we need to eat more greens even though they're disgusting?" Like, everything you say. I don't think they're disgusting. I'm just mimicking what I hear from people. I'm saying to you though, watch your words. Your words have power, and your body is responding to everything you are saying, thinking, and feeling, and it's making it true for you.
Remember, the mind does not know a difference between a dream or reality. So, I want you to feed it the narrative that you want to have. What do you want your weight loss journey to look like? Do you want it to take years, or do you want it to be done quickly? Do you want it to be a weight loss journey that it took me three years to get this body, right? Or do you want it to be, "I decided and it happened quickly. I decided and it was so fun for me. I decided and it's been effortless and easy." Create mantras and create a new self-identity.
I want to invite you to create a new identity here today with me. You can simply just say, "I'm releasing this old identity. I'm releasing this old story. It no longer serves me as of today, date, and time. I claim this to be my new reality. I claim this to be my new identity. I, Melissa Katherine, I name, declare that as of today, I release weight effortlessly. It came off so easy. It was so fun and continues to be so fun to be healthy and to create healthy habits and to live in this body. I love to discover new ways and recipes, new ways of being healthy, new ways of moving my body. My body loves to move each day. My body wakes me up excited to get out of bed and to move each day. I make myself proud each day. I go to bed feeling proud. I make my family proud. I make my partner proud. I make myself proud. I'm doing it for me. I love this version of me. I love how confident I get to be. I love how good it feels to be me. I love being in this body. I'm so grateful for this body. I love this body and I love being me. And I commit to me. I commit, and it's fun, and it's easy, and I'm excited for the becoming of me. I claim her now. I am her now. I appreciate her and I accept you. I accept you right now exactly as you are, and I'm excited for where we're going."
See, I have so many women that say to me, "But Melissa, I don't accept my body. I don't like this body. I don't feel like me. I don't feel like this version of me. I, I, I like the version of me that was this. I don't, this doesn't feel like me." And I go, "Okay, but it is you. And can you appreciate that this is you now? Can you appreciate the body that's been there for you? The body that was there for you when you overate? The body that was there for you maybe when you were injured? The body that was there for you after you had the baby? The body that, that, that produced a human? The body that's heading into menopause? The body, can we, can you love this body and appreciate this body and also have full faith in where it's going and be excited for that next chapter? For that chapter that begins right now, here today?" That's my invitation for you.
See, if you're repeating losing and gaining and losing and gaining, then you haven't created a new identity and you're operating off of who you've been, not who you want to be, and not who you currently are. And what that means is you're bringing your past into your present, which is dictating your future. And you can never, never create a new future from past consciousness, as Dr. Joe Dispenza would say. Great book, Becoming Superhuman, right? And I say that, I think it's, yes, um, but I say that to you because it's so true. And often, I find that whenever we've had an experience with something, whether we had our heart broken and we put a wall up, you know, or we did a diet and we gained the weight back, then we have an experience of it. And unfortunately, that experience then dictates what we believe to be true for our next experience. So then when we go into release that weight, we're like, "It's going to be hard. I'm going to have to sacrifice. And is it even going to work? It didn't work the last time." Because who wants to do and work hard for something that doesn't work, right? It's like, who wants to put you, like, it's the same thing when we look at love or like, right? It's like, we want the guarantee. But the thing is, we're human beings. So it's the journey that we get, we get the experience we get, we get the becoming.
And I want to invite you to trust and state and claim today that your story is, "This was the last time that I released weight. I, this, it doesn't mean that I'm not going to keep getting better with age and and healthier and more fit, right? I'll keep getting better and better. But this one worked for me, and it felt so good, and this was the best experience I've ever had, and it was fun, and it was easy, and it happened for me, and it happened quickly, and I love it, and I'm so proud of me, and I'm proud of who I've become, right?" Claim today that this is the last time that you ever, ever have to have "lose 10 pounds" as a goal, because from here on out, you released the weight and you just kept getting better and stronger and leaner and more toned, right? That's what we do here. We thrive in life in a body that we love. We just keep getting better and better and better. The best has yet to come, and it's only just begun.
