Therefore they said to him, "What should we do so that we may work the works of God?" What should we do to do these works? Jesus answered and said to them, "This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom He has sent." So if you're gonna interpret Paul to mean believing is not a work, that means he's an antichrist, 'cause Jesus said believing is a work, the necessary work you must do to be saved. Yeah. If that's, yeah. And I've seen how Ryan explained it because then he, on that verse, he says that it's not the work that we do, it's the work of God. But can I try this again? Let's try this again. Yes, because in the chapter 4, he's talking about circumcision, and that Abraham was justified apart from circumcision, and that's a carry from chapter 3. 'Cause he's trying to refute the Jews who say the only type of faith that God will accept and reward with immortal life, the only kind of faith is being faithful to the Torah. And Paul says, no, you don't have to be faithful to the Torah to be rewarded with immortal life. You just have to be faithful to do what God tells you to do when he tells you to do it. So when there was no law of Moses, how was Abraham faithful to God? There was no law of Moses. So how is he faithful to God? I'm not sure. Think about it. The opponents of Paul, they're debating with Paul saying, look, you need to believe in Jesus, but then you have to have faith in God, and that faith is being faithful to do what God tells you to do. And faithfulness means you need to be Torah observant. There's no other way to be faithful to God except observing the Torah. That's the entire debate in Romans 4. The law of Moses. So then his argument with Abraham is simple. All right, did Abraham have the law of Moses? No. What's your answer? But was Abraham faithful? Yes. How? There was no law. Yeah, exactly. Okay, that's the argument of Romans and Galatians. So in that context, is Paul referring to Genesis 12 or 15? What context? Uh, where Abraham's faith was counted for righteousness? Genesis 15. He quotes it right in Romans 4:3. But what does that got to do with the point of what Paul points? Explain it to me. Because isn't it in like, in their context, I'm not that knowledgeable, but isn't it in their context like it has to be, if sola fide were true, then Paul must have had, must have had reference Genesis 12 to prove their doctrine. But he's actually referencing whose doctrine? The sola fide doctrine. No, they'll tell you Genesis 15 says what God credited was Abraham's faith. So you see, it's all you need is faith. That's why they run to Genesis 15 'cause Paul used it. But that tells you that they're not too bright. Why do you think Paul used Genesis 15? I'm not sure. That's like where I'm kind of like, I, what other passage could Paul quote to show that Abraham's faith was credited as righteousness without needing the law of Moses? I'm not sure. So do you understand why he would appeal to Genesis 15? 'Cause Genesis 15 came before the law of Moses, right? Yeah, exactly. So how would Paul set about to prove his point? You Judaizers are wrong. You don't need to be faithful to the law to be righteous and justified before God. You need to trust God and do what he tells you whenever he tells you, whether he tells you get circumcised, right? Leave your country, live in a strange land, or get baptized in Christ. Paul's point is the only constant throughout salvation history is being faithful to God. What that faithfulness looks like will change depending on the circumstance. What do I mean? When there was no law of Moses, were those people still faithful to God? Yes. But you just made Paul's point. Faithfulness doesn't come about the law of Moses. Because if that's the case, then none of them were faithful because they didn't have the law of Moses. But they were faithful. And what is Paul's point? Faithfulness does not depend on keeping the law. Yes. When the law was revealed, the only way to be faithful at that time was to keep the law. But now that Christ has come, faithfulness requires you being faithful to Christ and His covenant. This is the argument he's making. Let me explain to you why Paul quotes Genesis 15 and nothing else. Okay, here, common sense. If you're not a Bible pervert and demonized, it's common sense. What Paul is saying, here's the passage that Paul quotes in Romans 4:3, right? And he quotes it also in Galatians 3:6. "Then he believed in Yahweh and He counted him as righteousness." Right? That's what he quoted. Romans 4:3, correct? Yeah. Okay. Now follow me. The same language is used of Phinehas in Psalm 106:30 and 31. "Then Phinehas stood up and interceded, and so the plague was checked." I'm gonna show you what the context is. Phinehas is the time of Moses when the Israelites committed sexual sin offenses by sleeping with Midianite Moabite women and worshipping Baal. God was angry and disgusted and brought a plague. So what did Phinehas do? There was an Israelite man who brought in a Moabite woman to fornicate with her as they're worshipping Baal. He speared them through and killed them dead. He speared them through and killed them dead. And here it says, what he did when God saw it, He stopped the plague. Now, that act he did, you see the language, "and was counted to him for righteousness." Same language used of Abraham. Yeah, exactly. "From generation to generation." You see it? Yeah. Same language. Abraham believed God and was counted as righteous. Same language in Hebrew and Greek if you look at it. But notice, Phinehas was counted righteous for showing his zeal and faithfulness to God by justly killing the Israelite and the Moabite, right? Well, now, why do you think Paul didn't quote this? I'm not sure. Why do you think Paul? Because this comes after the law, and it would make the Jews' point because they'll say, see, Paul, he was zealous for the law of God, and that's why he was righteous. So this would not have made his point. Okay. So, and, um, just like a little question, uh, how was, how was Abraham's faith counted for righteousness? Did he do works leading up to his faith getting? Brother, don't make me angry with my shoestrings. When God told him to do something, did he do it? Like, leave his country? Yeah. Live in tents as a stranger? Yes. Get circumcised? Okay. Yeah. Or no? He did this first step was when God told him, leave your land, and he did it. That is an action, an act of obedience, doing what God told him. That's why Hebrews 11:8-10 says Abraham was already justified before Genesis 15. Let's read it. This is what happens when you put the Bible in the hands of a son of Satan like Ryan. Here it is. Hebrews 11, the entire chapter is about the faith that saves, the faith that pleases God, the faith that makes you righteous, and the faith that God rewards. So I'm starting at 6 so you can see it. "Without faith, it is impossible to please Him, for he who draws near to God must believe that He is, and He is a rewarder of those who seek Him." So what kind of faith is Hebrews talking about? His righteousness, right? Yes. When did Abraham have it? Here you go. Hebrews 11:8-10: "By faith Abraham, when he was called, obeyed by going out." There is an action he did, a deed he performed, which he was to receive for inheritance, and he went out not knowing where he was going. "By faith he sojourned." Look, it's action. The faith that pleases God is an active faith that is obeying God and acting upon what He tells you to do. "He sojourned in the land of promise as in a foreign land, dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, fellow heirs of the same promise, for he was looking for the city which has foundations, whose architect and builder is God." So did Abraham already have the faith that pleased God that God rewarded and in which God saw and made him righteous before Genesis 15? Yes. Yeah. How do we know? Before Genesis 15. How do we know? Yeah, because he left up the land he was told that. Oh, because this happened before Genesis 15, right? He had already left. Genesis 11, Genesis. Okay. So Ed, you got it here? Yes. You have no certainty 'cause you're preaching a false gospel. My assurance is based on what Christ tells me that if I remain in Him, and remaining in Him doesn't mean I'll be perfectly obedient. Remaining in Him means acknowledging my sin, sin and confession. Why do you think there's confession? Why do you think there's confession? He will be faithful to forgive me and pardon me. That's not me, that's what Jesus says in John 15, all the way from verses 1 to 10. He says, "Abide in me and I in you, because if you don't abide in Him, He'll cut you off." So if He tells you He has assurance, say, "No, you're a deceiver and deceived 'cause you have a false gospel. You have a false assurance based on a false gospel, and you'll be one of those whom Jesus says, 'I never knew you.'" So how sure are you that you have an assurance of salvation when you don't know the gospel and pervert and mislead people? 'Cause here's what Jesus says. John 15:1-10: "I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away, and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, so that it may bear more fruit. You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit from itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me." Clear as day. "I am the vine; you are the branches. He who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing. If anyone does not abide in Me, he is thrown away as a branch and dries up, and they gather them and cast them into the fire; they are burned." So how do I remain in Him and abide in Him? Notice it's abiding, it's continual. He tells you, "If you abide in Me and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, it will be done for you. My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be My disciples. Just as the Father loved Me, I also have loved you. Abide in My love." How do I abide in His love? How do I know that I will be forgiven? "If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love." So is He saying Jesus is lying? Why is it when I quote Jesus' words, "Well, how much assurance do you have if it's on works?" Jesus' words, I'm quoting Jesus. Are you disagreeing with Jesus? So I quote Jesus saying, "Abide in My love, because if you don't abide in Me, you'll be cut off and burned." But if you abide in Me, and how do you abide in Me? "By obeying My commands," then you won't be cut off. And you're now still telling me, "Oh, so it's works salvation." You have no assurance, buddy. I'm telling you what Jesus said. Exactly. Why do you have a problem with Jesus' gospel? 'Cause he's a false teacher, son of Satan. He teaches what we call antinomianism, right? Against the law. And Jesus condemns those who are against the law. I'll show it to you. "So if you keep My commandments, if you keep My, you will abide in My love." If you keep My commandments, that's how you remain in Me. Well, what if I don't keep His commandments? You'll be cut off. Do I need to show it again? Cast them to the fire. I mean, I quote Jesus on me. Well, do you have assurance? As much assurance that Jesus gives me right here. I'm quoting Jesus, and you're giving me your opinion. No, that's faith and work. No, that's true faith. "Just as I have kept My Father's commandments and abide in His love. These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete." If that's still not good enough, here's what Jesus says to those who teach antinomianism, right? Against the law, lawless salvation. So they can say, "Faith and works." No, I'm saying it's faithfulness is defined by Jesus. Jesus, how am I saved? You abide in Me. Continue abiding in Me. How? Obey My commands. Yeah, but I'll break Your commands. That's where confession and repentance comes in, and I'll forgive you. Matthew 7:21-23: "Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' like Ryan, will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who hears and believes, he who does the will of My Father." How is it these Bible perverts or can only give you one verse out of context? But when you give them verse after verse, chapter after chapter, context, "Do the will of My Father, abide in My love." If anyone does not abide in Me, he is thrown away as a branch and dries up, they gather them and cast them into the fire; they are burned." That same John? That same John says, "If you abide in Me by having My words abide in you, and how do you abide in Me in My love? By keeping My commandments." That's how you remain in My love and abide in Me. 'Cause if you don't do His commandments, that means you don't love Him. And if you don't love Him, you're not abiding in Him. And if you're not abiding in Him, you'll be burned up and destroyed. Because 99.5% of all the extant copies of Mark in Greek that have Mark 16 with the longer ending have verses 9 to 20. And secondly, Irenaeus in the second century cites the longer ending of Mark 16 as part of what Mark wrote. But he doesn't care about evidence. Because you see what I did? All right, we'll ignore Mark 16:16. But then you go here and says, "Oh, but no, that doesn't mean it saves you." Even though it says, "Baptism now saves you." 'Cause here he can't say, here he cannot say it's not an original Peter. So what does he do now? Well, it doesn't mean that, but it just says, "Baptism now saves you, not by washing you from dirt, because we don't believe when you get dipped in the water, you're just taking a good bath. It washes your conscience, cleanses your heart and soul, because of your pledge to Christ, who by the resurrection makes these graces effective and guarantees they do what God promised will be done in these sacraments." Yeah, 'cause I, I'm not gonna lie, when I first left my, uh, the one-ness church, I did go to a Baptist church 'cause their sola fide sounded beautiful at the time. But once I realized it sounded way too good to be true, let me actually, um, verify I'm actually in the right. And then I started seeing your videos and I'm like, nope, I gotta go. It's an E, it's a license for easy beliefism. Believe me, brother. All of us here, every one of us would love Ryan's false gospel. You know why? That means I can live like a pig as long as I say I truly believe Jesus is Lord, Son of God, and forgive me, I'm okay. Who doesn't want easy beliefism? Yeah. So if we're all honest, if we're all honest, we all struggle with sin. I'm daily struggling with lust, daily struggling with the flesh, daily struggling with laziness, daily struggling with slothfulness, daily struggling with body dysmorphia that hinders me from getting. I'm under destruction. God gives me what I deserve. Don't you think I want to believe in easy beliefism? Yeah. Wow. Dude, yeah. Nothing.
