Final project map two tutorial video. Picking up from where we left off, make sure you have saved your work and that you have exported your map one layout. Close the map one layout. It will still be available. You're not deleting it and it will still be available when we get to our catalog. Your layout is still available in layouts. Any maps we create will be available in maps. Make sure you leave the map one work area open.
From the insert tab, create a new map. Turn off the topographic and hill shade layers. Click on the map one tab, right click over your precinct patrol sector layers and select copy. Click on the new map tab, right click over map in the contents and select paste. And your patrol sectors layer will be pasted into the new map work area. Click on the map one work area, right click over your precinct assault calls, and select copy. Click on the new map work area, right click over map, and select paste. The calls with the graphs are carried over. Right click over map in the contents of the new map area, and rename the map map two family assault calls. Once you have your new map renamed, you can close the map one area. You're not deleting it. It's still available in maps from within the catalog pane.
Next, we're going to use select by attribute to isolate the family assault calls within our data. From the map tab, I'm going to open up select by attributes. Make sure your input rows are set to 18th precinct assault calls. Type description contains the text family. This will isolate any calls that came through the 911 system that were marked as family / domestic related. Double check your settings, select apply and okay. And you will see your points for family related calls are highlighted. Right click over the 18th Precinct Assault Calls layer. Go to selection, make layer from selected features. Your graphs will automatically be updated, so you do not need to create new graphs. When you have your new layer, you can turn off the All Assaults layer and move it out of the way. Your new layer should be renamed to 18th Precinct or whatever your precinct happens to be family assault calls. And save your work. Open up the attribute table of your family assault calls and record the number. That number will be divided by your total assault calls and that will give you the percentage. So, it's a simple ratio. Whatever your family assault calls over the total assault calls and that gives you your percentage which you will need when you fill out your analysis report.
To create the layout, go to insert, new layout. Again, we're using landscape legal 8 and 1/2 by 14. Insert your map frame. So, this is the map frame for map number two. Insert your charts. Be careful that you are inserting the correct charts. You have charts for all the salt calls. You have charts for the family assault calls. We want those associated with the family assault calls. So, there is my months. There is my days. And my time of day. Turn on your topographic map. Zoom to layer to focus and center your precinct area and insert your map surrounds. >> And by now you should be able to do this relatively quickly without me having to go step by step. Once again, my legend fits very nicely in the upper left-hand corner. Yours may not fit in this exact location depending on what precinct you are analyzing. And of course, don't forget to add your border and background to the legend. Finally, rename the layout. And since this is our final project map two, that's what I would name it. Your last name map two final layout. You're keeping the naming conventions the same. It makes finding your layouts much easier. Double-check that your map and graphs are appropriately aligned and export your second map. Going to share export layout again as a PDF.
