Now, the 2025 Miss Universe Contest has come to a close. This year's event was held in Bangkok in Thailand. It's the fourth time that the Thai Capital has played host to the event, now in its 74th year. 130 women took part, including, for the first time, a Miss Palestine. Well, this is her, Nadine Aub. She's a 27-year-old health and nutrition coach. She was crowned Miss Palestine in 2022 and now divides her time between Dubai and Ramla.
Meanwhile, this year's winner of the show was announced as Miss Mexico, Fatima Bosch. This was her earlier in the contest, during the costume display, and as well as the sequins and glamour. This year's competition has, however, been surrounded by controversy. Contestants, including this year's winner, walked out over what they claimed was mistreatment, and judges have resigned over claims of rigging.
Well, let's speak to our reporter, Panisa Mocha, who is in Bangkok for us. Hello there, Panisa. So, just, just tell us what sort of reaction there has been to the result.
Yeah. So, basically, congratulations to Fatima Bosch, Miss Mexico, who recently, under an hour ago, just crowned the new Miss Universe. And for the fourth time, this is the first time that Miss Universe comes from Mexico, and a lot of people have been pouring in common congratulations. A lot of the fans are also sad that their delegate didn't really win. Um, one of the things that I've seen is actually for the top five in the final round Q&A sessions. Miss Codivore. Miss Codivore is actually a fan favorite for her answers on the question of, if you are to win the Miss Universe, how will you empower young girls?
And there has been, however, controversy in this year's contest. Tell us more about that.
Yeah, so just days before this final day, we have judges resigned. One of the judges cited the reason that he decided to pull out of the jury because of the rigging system. The Miss Universe organization though denied later that there was no wrongdoing. And also with Miss Fatima herself, there were times during the event, the preliminary event, when there was a talking between Noah and also with her. So she was called out, and while she was trying to defend herself, she would be cut off. Missent and Miss Universe organizations um condemn the act of NAT. Now, what the latest is, they apologized to her, and fortunately, uh, she continued to compete, and now she recently just won. So there's a lot of controversies among the competition itself. And might I add that the Miss Universe organization itself also faces a lot of uncertainty with 50% share owned by a Thai company, but this company, JKN, is still undergoing rehabilitation plan for it.
