[Music] The bamboo and the rose. Once in a garden, there were some flowering roses. The roses would always emit a very pleasant fragrance. The roses had a way to charm everyone with their beauty. After all, who doesn't like a rose?

Meanwhile, on the other side, there was a bunch of bamboo trees that looked boring; no flowers or fragrance that many people love. People who passed by never praised the bamboo tree, and no one wanted to take pictures next to the bamboo, but they loved to go near the roses. This made the bamboo sad and jealous of the roses.

One day, the bamboo said to the roses in a sad tone, "Hi, roses, do you know I always wanted to be like you—flower beautifully, have a pleasant fragrance, always be praised for my beauty, and get the love of the humans?" A rose who heard this smiled and said, "Thank you for your praise and your honesty, bamboo."

The bamboo wondered if there was any part of him that was more beautiful than the roses and if the roses ever envied him. The rose, realizing what the bamboo might have been feeling, said to him, "Why are you envious of us roses? Look at yourself—you have a very strong stem. When a storm comes, you stay steady and do not wobble at all. As for me and my friends, we are very fragile; a slight wind is enough for our petals to come off. Our life is very short."

The bamboo realized that he had the power that he considered normal, and it was amazing in the eyes of the rose. "But roses, people love you; you always become a beautiful home decoration," said the bamboo. The rose smiled again and said, "It's true what you say, bamboo, but do you know we will wilt and die in a few days, unlike you?"

The bamboo, feeling confused, said, "I do not understand."

"Bamboo," said the rose while shaking his head, "humans often use you as a tool to drain the water. You are very useful for other plants, with the water flowing through your body; you water a lot of plants. I'm surprised that you're envious of me; you should be happy, not jealous of me."

The bamboo nodded and realized that he was very useful and became happy. "Instead of spending our energy being envious of others, it is better to be grateful for being ourselves. Do not compare yourselves to others; instead, count your blessings."
