I am sorry, but I do not want to be emperor. That is not my profession. I do not want to govern or conquer anyone, but rather to help everyone if possible, Jews and Gentiles, white or black. We must help each other. Human beings are like that. We want to make others happy, not unhappy. We do not want to hate or despise anyone. There is room for everyone in this world. The good earth is rich and can feed all beings. The path of life can be free and beautiful, but we have lost it. Greed has poisoned souls. It has raised barriers of hate. It has pushed us towards misery and slaughter. We have progressed very quickly, but we have imprisoned ourselves. The mechanization that creates abundance leaves us in need. Our knowledge has made us cynical. Our intelligence, hard and dry. We think too much and feel too little. More than machines, we need humanity. More than intelligence, we need kindness and sweetness. Without these qualities, life will be violent. Everything will be lost. Airplanes and radio make us feel closer. The true nature of these inventions is the human will that demands the universal brotherhood that unites us all. Right now, my voice reaches millions of beings all over the world, millions of desperate men, women, and children, victims of a system that tortures men and imprisons innocent people. To those who can hear me, I say: do not despair. The misfortune we suffer is nothing more than the passing greed and bitterness of men who must follow the path of human progress. The hate of men will pass, and the dictators will fall, and the power they took from the people will be returned to the people. And so, as long as man exists, freedom will not perish. Soldiers, do not surrender to these men who in reality despise you, enslave you, regulate your lives, and tell you what to do, what to think, and what to feel. With their parents in their brains, they fear us. They treat us like cattle and like cannon fodder. Do not surrender yourselves to these inhuman individuals, men-machines with brains and hearts of machines. You are not machines. You are not cattle. You are men. You carry the love of humanity in your hearts, not hate. Only those who love us hate. Those who do not love and the inhuman. Soldiers, do not fight for slavery, but for freedom. In chapter 17 of St. Luke, it is read: "The kingdom of God is within man." Not within one man, or a group of men, but within all men. Within you, we, the people, have the power. The power to create machines. The power to create happiness. We, the people, have the power to make this life free and beautiful, to turn it into a wonderful adventure. In the name of democracy, let us use that power by acting all united. Let us fight for a new world, worthy and noble, that guarantees men work, and youth a future, and old age security. With the promise of these things, the beasts launched power, but they have not fulfilled their promises, and they never will. Dictators are free only to themselves. But life is in the people. We fight now to make the promised reality ourselves. Everyone to fight to liberate the world, to tear down national barriers, to eliminate ambition, hate, and intolerance. Let us fight for the world of reason, a world where science, where progress leads us all to happiness. Soldiers, in the name of democracy, we have states. [Music]
