Very often from my clients, in my school community, and just working in this industry of YouTube growth, I so often hear, "Alexa, I need this to work. I need money. I need to leave my job. I need to leave my relationship. And I need YouTube to be successful so that I can do all of those things."
And this is where I want to encourage you to let go of that "needing this to work" type attitude and adopt a new perspective. Because that perspective, that that that sense of desperation, that sense of like, "this is the only thing that I have left in my life to make my life successful," will absolutely 100% slow your growth on YouTube and also attract the wrong people to you. So, let me explain.
Let's say you're in a relationship, and you're in a relationship with someone who is absolutely 100% obsessed with you. Let's even go as far to say that they love you more than you love them. How does that relationship feel? If that person has the energy, "I need you. I need you to make me happy. If you don't make me happy, my life is going to fall apart. I'm going to commit suicide. Life is going to be horrible." That person is putting so much pressure on you that it makes it uncomfortable. It repels you. It disgusts you. It feels icky. It feels like, "I need to get away from this energy. It's too much. It's too much pressure. It's not fun to be in a relationship like that where that person is so desperate for you to make them happy."
So, let's relate that to YouTube. If you're watching someone on YouTube and they might might not be saying, "I need you to subscribe to my channel," but the the energy that they're presenting through their work, the underlying energy is that of desperation of, "I I'm doing this so that it works. I'm doing this so I get something from you, so that you make me happy. So that you, as the viewer, can help me be successful." That energy is is 100% repelling your audience. When someone clicks on that video, they're going to be like, "Something's off here. This person feels strange, and here's why."
So, I'll share the second part of this dating story. The person that is obsessed with the other person. How do you think they are showing up to that relationship? Do you think they're showing up to that relationship confident in who they are, knowing that "I can be myself and if I'm myself, you will love me?" Heck no. They're coming to that relationship as if, "I will do anything to make this relationship work. I will bend over backwards. I will I will praise you. I will tell you what you want to hear. I will lie to you. Basically, I will be someone I'm not so that you like me."
Now, that is why the videos do not resonate. That is why you don't get views on your videos if you're coming with the attitude, "I need this to work," because you are showing up, not yourself. You don't care about yourself. You just care about being the person that someone needs to see so that you can be successful on YouTube.
So, what do you do? You go on other channels and you watch what they're doing and you're like, "Okay, they did that video. It did really well for them. Oh, another channel did that video. It did well for them. I'm going to do that video on my channel and it flops." Why does it flop? Because it's not you. Because you're trying to be someone else. And that's the wrong attitude.
You want to come to a relationship, and YouTube is a relationship. It's a relation. I want you to look at YouTube as dating. You are being a potential date for your viewer, right? So you want to come to it with this attitude of like, confident. "I have something to offer. I am worthy. I have value. And I know I can help you get from point A to point B in this particular arena of life or this area of life because I have lived through it. And if you resonate with me, you will be able to do the same, right?" And so when you come with that energy, it's a completely different energy.
So let me give you a different scenario. You go to a date and you've met this person online. Maybe you check their profile and you're like, "Oh, we have a lot of things in common. This could be good." You show up to the date as yourself and you know that if you show up as yourself, then you're going to they're going to see your true self and you're going to figure out if you guys relate. Because if you're being someone you're not and they're being someone they're not, then those people that fall in love are two people that don't even aren't even the people that they are, right? They're they're masks of their identity and it's not a true love. And so eventually it's going to fall apart. And the same thing will happen on your YouTube channel. If you show up as someone that you're not, if you show up as someone you think you need to be or doing a niche you think you need to do in order for people to follow you or to like you or to get you to your goal, it's not going to last because it's built on lies. It that's I'm saying it like it is. It's built on lies.
If you are showing up to your channel with a masked version of you, with trying to be someone else, not your own voice, someone else's voice, you're going to attract people that are attracted to that voice, and that voice is not your voice. Eventually, your voice comes out. Just like in that relationship where you're obsessed with someone, and you try to bend over backwards to be something you're not, to make that person love you. Eventually, it's going to fall apart because you when they do finally acknowledge you, you can't hold you can't maintain that because that's not you. And and it it takes so much work to keep up with something that's not yourself. It keep takes work to keep up with lies. It takes work to remember all the things you said that you didn't actually feel uh to keep that relationship going, right? So, it's all going to come crumbling down.
It's the same thing with YouTube. We don't need to pretend anything. The thing is when you show up as yourself, your light shines the brightest. Your light will be magnetic. You will be magnetic because people love real people. In a world of fake, in a world of AI, in a world of, you know, loudness and noise and constant advertisements and and airbrushed people and all that stuff, we want real. We want to see someone that looks like us. Not necessarily looks like us, but someone that is doing something we could do.
I'll give you two examples. I was just on a client call last night with one of my clients, Tyrone. Tyrone had a budgeting channel, how to um get out of debt, because he had lived that life for the past year. He worked really hard for a year to get out of debt. And so he was he was like, "I want to help people get out of debt because I just got out of debt and it feels really great." But once he was out of debt, he wasn't so obsessed with that topic anymore. That wasn't like his passion. It wasn't his true passion, right? And so when he hired me, he was we we made this game plan for what videos he should do next, how we should show up, all this stuff, right? And and he messaged me and he's like, "I just don't have energy to get out of bed for YouTube. I have no energy to make these videos." And it was a huge red flag for me. Not red flag like he's not going to succeed. It was a red flag. He was not living his purpose. He was not He was not aligned with what he was doing. I said to him, "What do you really want to do? What do you really want to do on your channel? What are you called to do? What would excite you? What would you jump out of bed for?" It wasn't that hard for him to say it. He discovered that he wants to help men become the best man they can, to become the leaders, become um because he recognized in his work, his favorite thing to do in his work was to help other people rise higher, to help people go up the ladder, to help people see their potential, to see where they could go. Because in his life, some man saw his potential and told him, you know, "You're you're not showing up as you could be. You could be so much more." And it totally changed the trajectory of his life. That man had such an impact on him and now he wants to be that man for other people. And so he stepped into that role, completely changed his niche and is now is motivating men to live their best life. And can I tell you his magnetism, his his strength, his power, his his wisdom is so it's so powerful in his videos. He he is lit up and and his channel is growing and he's he's he's already got, you know, content booked booked out for weeks in advance where he was struggling just mere weeks before to get out of bed to do one video for his channel before.
So when it's heavy, it's not the right direction most likely. There's a lot of other reasons why YouTube could be heavy, but the main reason is you're not aligned with your true purpose. you're not aligned and you're not showing up in the way you really want to show up. You're you're you're being some level of hiding yourself or being fake. But I don't want to say being fake because it's not you might not be intentionally being fake. You're just not allowing your true self to shine.
So, we want to remove those layers of limiting beliefs and all of those things saying you can't do something or that you need this to work and and come at it from a place of, "I can't wait to meet the people I'm going to help. I can't wait to create this content because it's really what I feel. It's what I'm passionate about."
And I want to say one more thing about this. I was just on a call today with another client and he has he has struggled with starting and stopping and worrying about people judging him and worrying about friends judging him and he really wants to do this but he just he he comes from that place of, "I need to do this. I know I'm meant to do this." But he he's he's feeling resistance. He's feeling scared. he's feeling um like all these people are going to judge him and he was also telling me he wants to do a fitness channel uh like a health channel and all of that and he feels, "I'm not ripped enough. I'm not you know I know my niche fitness is all about you know aesthetically looking fit and strong." And I told him, "Why did you come to me? Why did you hire me as your coach as opposed to Sean Kel of Think Media or um Ali Abdal of I don't know what his company and name is, sorry, of you know, why did why did you come to me, a small YouTuber, versus a massive YouTuber?" He said to me, "Because I felt like you were obtainable. I felt like what you had achieved was obtainable for me." And I said, "Exactly. Someone will see you in your body, in your body shape, feeling energized, feeling vital, feeling happy, and and feel inspired because that Arnold Schwarzenegger version is is too far removed from them. They can't imagine themselves being at that place yet, right?" And so, you don't need to be something you're not. You as you are right now, someone needs that. Someone needs your voice. Someone needs your inspiration. Someone will see in themselves in you. They will see, "Wow, they did that. I can do that." And people that are aligned with you will love what you have to say, will resonate with what you have to say because you're speaking in a language they understand because you lived through where they are right now and you're over here.
And and here's one thing. Oh, this is this is brilliant way to think about it. YouTube is the one place you are fully rewarded for being yourself. Everywhere else in life, you feel like you have to put on a different hat. I have to put on the parenting hat. I have to put on the designer hat, the architect's hat, the the postal man hat, whatever your job is. You have different roles in life. You feel like you have to put on and present yourself in certain ways. But what if you didn't have to? What if you could be yourself and get paid for it, wildly paid for it, and you could enjoy what you do, and you could have fun doing it? That's what I'm living right now. I come to YouTube as myself. It's the one place in life I am 100% myself and I'm attracting people to me because of that because my light is shining bright and it's giving you hope that you can achieve what I've achieved if you're trying to achieve this. Right? And it's it's showing you that an everyday person can get there.
And I had a another point. I had a bigger point with this. This is the problem of not working with a script. What was my point? Yes. Okay. My point was this: that you YouTube is the one place where you are rewarded for your courage. You are rewarded for your bravery. You are rewarded for showing up as you. There is nowhere else in life where you are so rewarded for showing up as you. Right? We're scared to be ourselves half the time. But YouTube is the place where you can show up as yourself and attract people to you that are like you, that are wanting the same results that you have, that are wanting to learn from you because you are where they want to be. So, embrace that. Jump into that.
And you know what else will happen? Your whole life will change. Your whole life will change because of YouTube. YouTube will amplify to you your insecurities, the places where you feel like you have impostor syndrome. It will amplify your limiting beliefs and when you see those, then you will start to notice those in your personal life and you will want to change those in your personal life because you know that the way you show up in life has to be the same as the person you show up on YouTube so that it's congruent and so that you are walking your talk. No one wants to follow someone on YouTube that only talks their talk but doesn't walk their talk. Right? If you were following someone and you found out maybe you you followed them for a year and then you went to one of their events or you you got their coaching and and behind the scenes they're completely different person. They're completely different and you're just like devastated almost because you're like, "Wow, I was buying into this that I could have this life, but you don't even have this life that you're projecting on YouTube or you're presenting on YouTube."
So my point is that you want to walk your talk and knowing that you're rewarded on YouTube for walking your talk, it will make you walk your talk so much stronger. It will make you it'll make you bust through limiting beliefs so much faster. I YouTube is amazing. It's amazing for personal development. It's amazing for realizing and finding your voice. It's amazing for noticing what's important to you because you will have people comment on your videos and those comments will trigger you or those comments will lift you up. And when that happens, I would encourage you to pay attention. Pay attention to those triggers because that is life pulling you in a new direction, wanting you to let go of that so that you can stand in your full power.
So, embrace YouTube. It's an amazing opportunity. You can live your life. Be yourself. get paid for it if you want to build a business with YouTube and live your dream life. You can live your dream life. I want you to hear that because that's another thing. I was talking with um one of my clients today and he's like, "I'm just not in that world." He was saying, "You're the only person I know that is making money from YouTube, that's actually making money from YouTube and is successful." And it's the same for me. I don't know anyone in my near vicinity doing what I'm doing. I don't know anyone anyone in person where I live that is doing what I do.
To get yourself in that position of believing that you can achieve this, believing that it's worth your time to come to YouTube. It's so important to be in an environment. Surround yourself with people achieving what you want to achieve. Listen to podcasts where people are talking about achieving success, where they're interviewing people that are achieving success in the way you want to achieve success. Read books instead of spending time doing things that only drain your energy. Spend time doing things that lift you up, that bring you into that world. Because the sooner you can get into that world, like the sooner you can mentally get into that world, right? And be in that energy and and feel all those feelings, the sooner it will come into your own life.
Because if you listen to the people around you, the everyday people around you that say you can't do YouTube, that YouTube is only like 1% of the population actually succeeds on YouTube. If you listen to those people, you will be those people. Don't listen to those people. YouTube rewards you if you are brave enough and courageous enough to show up as yourself and and help people. That's all you have to know. It can happen. It will happen. There's no doubt in my mind that it can happen for you if you just show up, do the work, keep going, and and and push through all those limiting beliefs because you will be faced with a lot of limiting beliefs, impostor syndrome, self-doubt, all of that. Push through. Push through. Say, "This is here for me to go higher. In order to go higher, I have to I have to get over this self-doubt. I have to push through it. If I don't push through it, I will stay where I am. I will I'll hit that ceiling and I won't go above it. But if I if I face that fear, if I face that self-doubt and say, you know what Alexa said, if I'm myself, if I am courageous enough to be myself and I go all in, I can make this work. I'm going to do that." And you do that. And you and you say, "I'm not going to doubt myself anymore. I'm going to take action." The more action you take, the faster you go, the further you go, and being yourself will get you there gazillion times faster because you'll be aligned and because of all the stuff I've already talked about in this video.
So, that feels a little heavy, but I I want you to know it's possible. That anything is possible. And that's the other thing I was just saying this morning. Money, freedom, time, freedom, financial freedom, the ability to do something you love, it's at your fingertips with YouTube. It is absolutely at your fingertips with YouTube. Do you need to learn skills to be better at presenting? Do you need to learn how to upload videos? Do you need to learn? Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. You can learn all those things. And you can learn those things faster if you remove self-doubt. Because if self-doubt is there, if limiting beliefs are there and you let them win, you will not win on YouTube. If you let your small egoistic mind win, you will not fly. Do not listen to that. Listen to your heart. Your heart knows, your soul knows that you are here for something bigger and that you are able to achieve that because you were given that desire. You can do this. You're going to do this. stick with me. I am going to make sure you do this. [laughter]
So, um, oh, and yes, if you want to do this actually with me, I just want to mention that I have a three-month program that is starting on Monday, this next week, and it's still open. There still doors are still open. It's going to be awesome. Amazing people in there. And we are going to go deep on these things, these things of getting aligned, of living your truth, of showing up as yourself, because that is the hardest thing to do on YouTube. But that is the thing that is most rewarded on YouTube. That is what will grow your business. That is what will grow your brand. That is what will evolve you so rapidly. So if you want to join us, it is a small group of people and it's going to be absolutely fantastic. I would love to have you in there. I'll place a link down below to join that program if you're interested. But anyway, wishing you the best and I know you can do this. Put your mind and your heart in the same spot in the same direction and go go. Thanks for watching. Bye for now.
