My dears, it is Father Dmitry with you, and today I ask you to set aside all your affairs. If you have a daughter, it doesn't matter if she is 5 years old or 55, what you are about to hear can change her destiny. I am not saying this for the sake of a beautiful phrase. I am saying this because I have seen with my own eyes how one prayer turned the lives of entire families upside down.
A few years ago, a woman came to my church. Her eyes were empty, her hands were trembling. She sat on a bench and said words to me that still give me goosebumps. She said: "Father, I have not prayed for my daughter for 20 years. I thought she would manage on her own, and now I am losing her." What happened in that family shocked our entire parish, and I will tell you about it a little later.
In the meantime, I ask you to watch until the end, because at the conclusion, I will read a special prayer for a daughter, which contains petitions for happiness, blessing, protection, and wisdom. Such words are rarely spoken in the open. Usually, they are passed on personally, from heart to heart. So, my dears, let's start with the most important thing. Why does a daughter need a special prayer? Why can't you just pray for children? In general, I will tell you what every experienced priest knows, but rarely speaks aloud.
In the Orthodox tradition, a daughter is not just a child. She is a special gift from God and a special responsibility. Holy Scripture tells us that woman was created as a helper, as a keeper, as the heart of the family. And that is precisely why the enemy of the human race strikes at her first. If a woman is destroyed, the family will be destroyed. If the family is destroyed, everything else will collapse. This is why your daughter is under special fire from spiritual dangers. And this is why she needs increased prayerful protection specifically from you, from her parents.
Look at what is happening around us. The world today bombards young women with such an amount of lies that their heads spin. They are told that happiness is a career at any cost, that freedom is permissiveness, that family is an outdated concept, that love is what is shown in movies. And a young soul, devoid of spiritual discernment, absorbs all this like a sponge. She begins to struggle, to search, to make mistakes, to fall, and often to fall so hard that she no longer has the strength to get up on her own.
Now I will return to the woman who came to me. Her daughter was 38 years old, beautiful, educated, intelligent. But her life was in ruins. Two broken marriages, children growing up without a father, a job that drained all her strength, and, most importantly, a complete loss of meaning. One night, the daughter called her mother and said: "Mom, I can't do this anymore. I don't see a single reason to continue." Can you imagine what this mother went through? And do you know what she told me through her tears? She said: "Father, I gave her everything: education, an apartment, I helped with the grandchildren, but I gave her one thing. I did not give her prayerful protection. I did not ask God for her. I thought it wasn't necessary."
My dears, this is a terrible mistake that thousands of parents make. They give their daughters all material things but forget about the most important. A parent's prayer for a child is not just words. It is a spiritual umbilical cord that connects your daughter to God's grace through your faith and your love. The Holy Fathers taught that a mother's prayer can retrieve something from the bottom of the sea. And this is not an exaggeration; it is a spiritual law. When a mother or father kneels and asks God for their daughter, something invisible but absolutely real happens. The daughter's guardian angel receives strength. God's grace envelops her like a cloak. Even if the daughter is far away, even if she doesn't believe, even if there is a wall of misunderstanding between you, your prayer breaks through any barrier. Remember this and do not let it leave your heart for a single day.
And now I will tell you something that may surprise you. According to modern research, over 70% of young women aged 20 to 35 admit that they feel deeply unhappy. 70%. At the same time, many of them have everything that previous generations could only dream of: education, freedom, opportunities, prosperity. But there is no happiness. Why? Because the world has offered them a counterfeit instead of the real thing.
My dears, when you pray for your daughter's happiness, you must understand what kind of happiness is being discussed. The worldly understanding of happiness is comfort, pleasure, absence of problems. But this is unhappiness, it is anesthesia. It wears off, and the pain returns with double force. True happiness, the very happiness that the Lord speaks of, is peace in the soul. It is a quiet joy that cannot be taken away by circumstances, people, illnesses, or losses. It is an inner light that burns even in the darkest night. And it is precisely this happiness that you should ask God for your daughter.
I will tell you a story that will forever remain in my memory. A woman came to me for confession, let's call her simply a parishioner of our church. She told me that her daughter lives in a big city, holds a high position, and travels abroad. The photos on social media are more beautiful than each other. All her friends envied this mother. "How successful your daughter is, what a good job she's doing." But the mother felt that something was wrong. She called her daughter, and there was emptiness in her voice. She visited, and her daughter sat in a dark room, staring into space. She only smiled in public, but inside there was a black hole. The mother asked: "Daughter, what happened?" And the daughter replied: "Nothing, Mom, everything is fine, I'm just tired." But the mother felt in her heart that her daughter was fading away. And then this woman came to me and asked: "Father, what should I do? I see that my child is unhappy, and I cannot help." And I told her: "You can do what no psychologist, no friend, no doctor can do. You can pray." I gave her a prayer for her daughter and said: "Read it every day, morning and evening. Do not miss a single day." And ask the Lord not for a career, not for money, not for marriage, but for peace in your daughter's soul, for the true joy that only God gives. She started reading. The first week nothing changed, the second week either. She called me and said: "Father, I don't see any results." And I replied: "Continue. The Lord is not on our schedule; He is on His." A month passed, and one day the daughter herself called her mother and said: "Mom, today I went into the church, I don't know why. My feet just carried me there. And I felt so good, like I haven't felt in many years." The mother cried into the phone, and then the daughter started calling more often. Her voice became lively. She began to change something in her life. Not immediately, not instantly, but steadily. After six months, she was a different person. Not because her circumstances changed. The circumstances were the same. She changed from within. The Lord touched her heart through her mother's prayer.
This is what it means to ask for true happiness for your daughter. Not external, but internal. Not temporary, but eternal. And when you read the prayer that I will give you at the end, remember, every word about happiness in it is a request for precisely this light, for this joy, which the world can neither give nor take away.
Tell me, do you know why in ancient times no girl got married without her parents' blessing? Do you think it was just a tradition, a beautiful custom, a sign of respect? No, my dears, behind this lies a profound spiritual reality that the modern world has forgotten, and to its detriment. And now I will reveal to you something that many do not understand, even among the churchgoing people.
A parent's blessing is not just a kind word; it is a spiritual act that has power before God. Holy Scripture is full of examples of the power of a parent's blessing. Remember how the patriarch Jacob received the blessing of his father Isaac, and it determined his entire life, the entire destiny of a whole people. The blessing, once spoken, was not revoked because God Himself acted through it. Saint John Chrysostom wrote that the blessing of parents establishes the homes of children. Pay attention to the word "establishes," not adorns, not supplements, but establishes, that is, makes strong, unshakable. Without this foundation, a daughter's home, her family, her life stands on sand.
And now listen carefully, because this story will change your understanding. In our parish, there was a family where the father and daughter had not spoken for many years. I will not name the reason for the quarrel, but I will say that the grievances were serious on both sides. The daughter moved away, created a family, had children, but her life went awry. Everything she undertook fell apart. Her first marriage ended, her second was on the verge of collapse. Problems with children, problems with health. She went to various people, seeking help, but nothing helped. Meanwhile, the father became seriously ill. When it became clear that his days were numbered, he asked to see his daughter. She came, stood at the door of the ward, and could not enter. So many years of resentment, so many years of silence. The father looked at her and said: "Daughter, forgive me, I was wrong. And I bless you. I bless you for a happy life, for a strong family, for healthy children. May the Lord keep you all your days." The daughter fell to her knees beside his bed, and they cried together. A few days later, the father departed to the Lord. But do you know what happened next? The daughter's life began to change. Not in a year, not in a month, but literally in a matter of weeks. Relationships in the family improved, her husband became different, the children calmed down. She herself told me later: "Father, it's as if someone lifted a heavy stone from me that I had been carrying all these years, and I can finally breathe." Such is the power of a parent's blessing. It works even after years, even across distances, even through resentment. And I appeal to each of you now. If you have not blessed your daughter, do it today. Do not postpone it. Call, write, say it when you meet. Place your hand on her head if she is nearby. Make the sign of the cross over her and say: "I bless you, my daughter, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit." May the Lord keep you, guide you, and lead you through life. If your daughter is far away, stand before an icon, imagine her before you, and say these words. The Lord will hear: "Your daughter's guardian angel will receive your blessing and carry it to her." And one more important point: bless your daughter not just once in life. Bless her regularly, before important decisions, before a journey, before starting a new endeavor, before sleep. Each of your blessings is a brick in the spiritual wall that protects your daughter. And the prayer that I will read to you at the end contains the power of precisely such a parental blessing, addressed to God. Do not miss it, my dears, do not miss what the Lord wants to give your daughter through you.
Once, a woman approached me after Sunday service, and the first thing she said was: "Father, I feel like some darkness is looming over my daughter. She has become a stranger, cold. I look into her eyes and do not recognize my child. Tell me, what is happening and what should I do?" Her voice trembled, and there was such fear in her eyes as only a mother has when she feels she is losing her child. And I understood that this woman had come not just for advice; she had come for salvation.
My dears, I must tell you something very serious. We live in a world that sets traps for our daughters at every step. And I am not only talking about visible dangers. I am talking about what is happening on a spiritual level. When a daughter falls into bad company, when she enters into destructive relationships with a person who drags her down, when she gets involved in things that poison her soul, when she loses faith and begins to live as if God does not exist, behind all this is not just a coincidence; behind it is a targeted spiritual attack. The enemy of the human race knows where to strike. He strikes at the most vulnerable, at the heart. And a woman's heart is especially open. It is created for love. And it is precisely through this openness that evil can penetrate it if there is no protection.
That woman told me the details. Her daughter was 26 years old. She grew up in a religious family, went to church, received communion, and then met a man. The mother immediately felt something was wrong, but the daughter wouldn't listen. She was as if blinded. Gradually, she stopped calling her mother, stopped going to church, took off her cross. Her friends drifted away one by one. The mother tried to talk, but she met a wall of aggression and coldness. The daughter literally became a different person, and the mother did not know what to do, because all human means had been exhausted. Conversations didn't help, persuasion didn't help, tears didn't help. And then I told this woman: "Listen to me carefully. Now only one thing is required of you, but this one thing: stronger than any words, stronger than any actions, stronger than any persuasion. You need to stand in prayer and not leave it." I gave her a prayer for her daughter for protection and said: "Read it for 40 days in a row, not a single day's break. Morning and evening, and if you can, read it in the afternoon as well. Light a candle before an icon of the Most Holy Theotokos, because the Mother of God, like no one else, understands a mother's heart. And ask her to cover your daughter with her omophorion."
And do you know what happened? For the first 2 weeks, nothing changed. The mother called me in despair. "Father, it's still the same. My daughter isn't answering the phone. I'm praying into the void." And I told her: "Not into the void." No prayer goes into the void. The Lord hears your every word. An angel records your every word. Continue. On the twenty-third day, the daughter suddenly called herself. Her voice was quiet, confused. She said: "Mom, I feel bad. I need to leave him, but I can't. Help me." The mother drove to her that very hour and took her home. The daughter cried for 3 days without stopping, as if all the darkness that had accumulated over these months was coming out of her. And then she asked to be taken to church. She asked herself. The mother did not persuade, did not pressure, did not lecture. The prayer did everything for her. This is what spiritual protection through prayer means. It is not a pretty metaphor; it is real power. When a mother or father prays for their daughter, an invisible but absolutely real shield arises around her. Dark forces cannot penetrate it. Bad people begin to withdraw. Situations that seemed hopeless suddenly find a resolution. This is not magic, God forbid. This is God's grace, which acts through parental faith and love. And I implore you, my dears, do not leave your daughters without this protection. Pray every day, especially if you feel anxious. A mother's heart does not deceive. If it aches, it means the daughter is in danger. And your prayer is the only weapon that reaches any distance and conquers any darkness.
And now I will reveal something to you that very few people think about. Tell me, when you pray for your daughter, what do you ask for? I have asked this question to hundreds of parishioners over many years of my ministry. And do you know what answers I have heard most often? For health, for marriage, for children, for well-being, for protection. All of this is important, undoubtedly. But almost no one, do you hear me, almost no one asks for wisdom for their daughter. And yet, this is the most valuable gift of all possible. And here's why.
Remember Holy Scripture. When the Lord appeared to King Solomon and said: "Ask what I shall give you," he could have asked for anything: for wealth, for long life, for victory over enemies. But he asked for wisdom, a reasonable heart, to discern good from evil. And what did the Lord do? He not only gave him wisdom but also everything else in addition: wealth, glory, long life. Because wisdom is the key that opens all other doors. A person with wisdom will find the right path themselves, will avoid traps themselves, will make correct decisions themselves. And a person without wisdom, even with everything, will lose it because they will not know how to manage the gifts.
And now I will tell you a story that confirms this better than any reasoning. In our parish, there was a family where two sisters grew up. The mother was a religious woman, she prayed for both daughters every day, but she prayed differently. For the elder, she asked for what everyone asks for: a good husband, a high salary, good health, a prosperous life. But for the younger, for reasons she herself didn't know, from childhood she asked for one thing: "Lord, give her wisdom. Teach her to distinguish good from evil. Guide her heart towards right decisions."
Years passed, both daughters grew up. The elder did indeed marry a wealthy man, got a good job, lived in prosperity. But she constantly made wrong decisions, trusted the wrong people, got involved in dubious affairs, quarreled with her husband over trifles until he left. She changed jobs one after another because everywhere she felt she was undervalued. By the age of fifty, she was alone, embittered, tired, disappointed. Everything that was given to her slipped through her fingers, while the younger sister went through life quite differently. Her external path seemed more modest. She did not chase wealth, did not seek prestige, but every step she took was measured. She sensed people. She saw where truth was and where falsehood was. She chose a husband not by his wallet, but by her heart. And her husband turned out to be a golden man. She found work that brought not millions, but joy and prosperity. She raised her children so that people marveled at their obedience and kindness. And when the mother told me about these two destinies, she herself was amazed by what she saw. She said: "Father, now I understand, wisdom is not just intellect. It is God's light in the soul that shows the way."
And she was absolutely right. Wisdom in the Orthodox understanding is not intellect, it is not education, it is not life experience; it is a gift of the Holy Spirit that allows one to see the essence of things, to distinguish the true from the false, to choose good and reject evil. And when you ask God for wisdom for your daughter, you are asking for the most important thing, for an inner compass that will not let her get lost, for spiritual vision that will reveal the truth to her. A wise daughter will choose the right husband herself, will raise wonderful children herself, will find her calling herself, will come to God herself. Because wisdom is the path to God.
My dears, I ask you, add this request to your daily prayers. Ask the Lord: "Give my daughter wisdom, give her a reasonable heart, teach her to distinguish good from evil." These words are also in the prayer that I will read to you very soon. And believe my experience, this gift will change your daughter's life more than any inheritance, any apartment, any bank account, because all material things can be lost, but wisdom given by God cannot be taken away by anyone.
My dears, we have come to the most important part. Now the words will be spoken for which, I believe, the Lord has led you to this video. I ask you to treat what you are about to hear with complete seriousness. This is not just a text; it is an appeal from your parental heart to God. Every word here has been endured by generations of mothers and fathers who knelt before icons and asked the Lord for their daughters. And the Lord heard and answered.
Before I read the prayer, allow me to explain how it works and how to read it correctly so that its power is fully revealed. You need to read this prayer daily. It is best to do it in the morning and in the evening. In the morning, you cover your daughter with protection for the coming day. In the evening, you thank God for the day lived and entrust your daughter to His care for the night. Read it for at least 40 consecutive days without interruption. 40 days is a number that in Holy Scripture signifies completeness. The flood lasted 40 days, the Lord fasted in the desert for 40 days. By tradition, prayers for the departed are read for 40 days. This is a number of spiritual fullness and completion. Read it before an icon. If you have an icon of the Most Holy Theotokos, stand before it, because the Mother of God is the first intercessor for all daughters. Light a candle or an oil lamp, make the sign of the cross, calm your heart, let go of vanity, anxiety, fear, and read with faith. Not with hope, but with faith. Hope says: "Maybe it will help." But faith says: "Lord, I know that You hear, and I know that You will answer." With such a heart, you must utter these words.
So, the prayer for a daughter for happiness, blessing, protection, and wisdom.
Lord, my God, all-merciful and almighty, I turn to You with trembling in my heart and tears in my eyes. You gave me a daughter, and I thank You for this priceless gift. I ask You, Lord, cover her with Your grace all the days of her life. Grant her true happiness, not worldly and fleeting, but that quiet, bright, eternal happiness that comes only from You. Fill her heart with joy, peace, and love. May her soul remain in peace, even when storms rage around. Bless her, Lord, with Your heavenly blessing. Bless her home, her family, her labors, and the works of her hands. Establish her life on the rock of faith, so that no winds or upheavals may shake its foundations. May my parental blessing, united with Your grace, accompany her at every step. Protect her, Lord, from all evil, visible and invisible. Guard her with Your holy angels. Set a watch around her, so that neither the cunning one, nor an evil person, nor a bad influence may approach her. Most Holy Theotokos, Mother of God, cover my daughter with Your honorable omophorion, be her intercessor and protector all her days. And grant her, Lord, wisdom. Give her a reasonable heart to distinguish good from evil, truth from falsehood, light from darkness. Teach her to make right decisions, to choose the right path, and to follow You. May Your wisdom be a lamp for her feet and a light on the path of life. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
My dears, this prayer can change your daughter's life. I have seen it dozens of times. Mothers who read it for 40 days came to me with tears of joy and told incredible stories. Daughters returned to their families, found loving husbands, found faith, emerged from despair, were healed of illnesses. Not because prayer is an incantation, but because through these words you open the door for God so that He can act in your daughter's life.
