The iPad: the worst invention to ever grace this world. This statement may seem kind of out of the blue. The iPad is used to save lives in medical situations, find information on the internet, help special needs individuals communicate with others, and to create and find entertainment. But I believe that all this good is overshadowed by the monstrous amount [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] of… we live in a technology-advanced world where screens are everywhere, including the palms of our children, in which they have full access to the internet and endless dopamine via their iPads.
Feeding them content that is nowhere near suitable for children, such as videos like this—videos that I actually have to censor because of how sexualized and violent in nature these are. Keep in mind your children could be watching this, and it’s not like these videos are hidden in any way. While researching for this video, it only took a single search for the name “Spunky,” a kids’ game that got very popular due to its fun-looking characters and creative music-making abilities, to find multiple instances of these PG characters in sexual poses, violent scenes, and fetishized scenarios. Again, I want to emphasize: your children with an iPad could be watching all of this, and you don’t even know. [Music]
The iPad is not something a child can just grow out of; it is literally an addiction. iPad went [Music] bye-bye. Countless videos are surfacing online from concerned parents wondering why their child is having behavioral issues. In all of the videos, one thing is the same: the children have an iPad in front of them most of the time, begging for their iPads to be brought back into their hands. This happens because the stimulation from the screen releases the hormone that produces happiness in those high moments. This constant amount of flashing colors and dopamine leads to a crave for more and more. When a child’s iPad is taken away, they no longer have anything to give them that joy, leading to severe behavioral problems.
While researching, an article popped up explaining that at the age of five, everything they learned from birth to that time is their core beliefs. Meaning, if a kid at a young age is taught to be sharing and caring, nice to everyone, and what discipline is, they take all of what they have learned into account. So what do you think happens when a child is raised on unlimited dopamine, no discipline, no life experiences, or memories? Well, they, for the rest of their lives, are just a husk of what a child is supposed to be: an addicted, sad, uneducated human being, and what the only thing that will make them happy is the iPad.
