When you've got a small business and you're thinking like a small business owner, that business owner thinks of their role as king of everything. It's all on them and they've got their hand in everything that they're not doing it. They're conducting it. Nothing's happening unless they're making it work.
Whereas, when you're at the helm of a bigger business or on your way to building a bigger business, then really there's only three things that you have to focus on in your role. You have to take responsibility for clarity of vision. This is where we're going. This is what we're doing. This is who we're doing it for. This is what we're about. This is why the world's a better place with our business in it. That vision is really, really important.
Second role then is to build the team and the systems that actually can deliver that vision. And then the third role is simply taking care of the cash and making sure that it's flowing. It's vision, team, cash. Those are the three things them to focus on. And that's what their role is all about. We got the right vision. Got the right team.
