Signs are universal needs, archtypes, organs of consciousness

There we go. How's everybody doing today? Great. Well, pretty good. We're all alive in this crazy year, so we're all doing relatively well, it looks like. All right.

Um, so while we are talking, let's try to keep our microphones muted unless we're asking a question or actually in conversation, because it can make it a little bit distracting otherwise. All right.

So, I think we'll probably have a few more people joining us as we go along here. My brother's helping to, uh, send the new link to the people who are still figuring out what the hell is going on, so we'll get it all figured out here. So, let me start my backup program.

So, this class is, uh, an introduction. It's the, the very basics when it comes to what astrology is and why it works. What, why does it have an effect? What is the, the reason for it? Why is it something that persists and persists throughout the ages? It seems to have always been with us. So, it is our primary, and I would say oldest, way of understanding our humanity. What it is that makes us tick, describing our unique human experience, and helps to give meaning to the world and to our experiences, and to understand ourselves, and to make sense of the biosphere that we have found ourselves within, our product of it.

So, astrology is an arrangement of archetypes, and archetypes are universal human experiences. It's what's common to all of us, what we would find to describe our own humanity, shared experiences, and they are the threads that run through all of reality, through all of us. And so, archetypes are what's common to being a human being. And how these archetypes are specifically arranged within us is described by our individual birth chart. Because the 12 main archetypes are like 12 main ingredients in a recipe, and you can add all kinds of different things to that recipe and come up with something that is unique. So, it's like if you start out with your basic sugar cookie dough, but you can add chocolate chips, you can add almonds, you can add all these different things, and it produces this very unique blend.

So, when we're looking at the signs, we're looking at common human universal needs, things that are not personal to us. They describe us as a species. And the signs represent a different organ of consciousness, because the signs represent a different part of the body. So, when we look at the, the, the chart, the astrology chart, the horoscope, we're looking at it, learning about it, especially in this lesson, in its typical archetypal fashion, which is Aries to Pisces. But your own birth chart could have very different signs. You could have a different rising sign and end with a different sign. But for the purposes of learning and for organizing the information, it's important to look at the signs as stages and as, uh, needs that build upon each other.

So, when we're talking about Aries, this is the sign of the ram, and it's ruled by Mars. Aries is the, um, the way that we all assert ourselves into the world. So, the way that a baby shows up in all of its wailing glory. Babies, newborns are not known for coming out quietly. So, there's this essential quality of assertion with Aries. So, there's this universal need to be, to assert ourselves into the physical environment, to get to take up space. So, Aries is a very impulsive sign because it is our impulse, our impulse to breathe, our impulse to live. So, all of the impulses, all of the natural processes that happen as soon as we emerge. And that could be different ways that we emerge. A couple of different ways that that can occur. So, how a child takes up space in the world, how we use our initiative, because we all have a need to initiate, we have a need to assert ourselves, we have a need to, to stake our claim. And that's very much descriptive of the way that humans also see themselves as a superior being, the human interpretation of being the, uh, the supreme upon the face of the earth. It's very much a human idea that that we have. We eventually get to Pisces, and and we have a very different idea in that sign, and we'll get there.

So, this, uh, this way that we sort of plant our flag and initiate our right to exist, it's always going to be an Aries thing. Aries, by nature, in that particular sign, this is not a thoughtful sign. This is not the need to, to evaluate or to consider the consequences. The need in Aries is direct, to directly assert our energy. And there isn't something mindful about how we do that. It's completely impulsive. So, um, the example of a newborn that comes out and greets the world in a very, uh, aggressive fashion. They're usually wailing, they're waving their arms, they're asserting their needs right away. It's very much that, that Aries need to make ourselves known.

So, Aries is also how we project ourselves physically into the world, and we'll talk about that more when we get to the next lesson, a lot more. So, the way that we, we assert our physical self, how we take up space, because we all have that need to have our physical being acknowledged.

So, um, the Ascendant, that is the, the meaning of Aries, the rising of us. And Aries is, you know, that originating impulse, the, um, sense of selfhood. So, that's why we associate it very much with selfishness or with self-centeredness, the sign of Aries, because it's very much about the essential structure of me, and all things point to me, that particular sign. So, the head and the face, this is the body part that we associate with Aries. What it is that faces the world, what it is that we see first, that we project to others, what they notice first. And also the deeper meaning of what we notice first, because the rising sign that we have in our own chart, that has that essential symbology of Aries. So, that is the main frame that we view reality through. It's like the main lens that will interpret most of what we encounter through. And planets on the Ascendant will color that as well. We'll be a part of that. So, some of us can have a more complex view than others. But Aries is the, um, that energy that we direct towards the initiation of personality, the initial way that we view ourselves and the world at large. So, we all have that need to be and to perceive and to be perceived.

Does anybody have any questions about that particular sign or any comments about the sign of Aries? Any observations? Anything I'd like to add at this point?

Um, just a quick question. When you, when you say Aries, would you also include, uh, Mars with that, or is it just exclusive?

That will be different. That will be more specific to the action of Aries, because Aries is the, uh, the primary symbol that, that we look to. The primary sign that we look to. The action of Aries would be Mars. That's the agent of that particular sign. So, the active agent of Aries is Mars. Mars is how we act on what Aries means. The planet that rules a sign is always how we act on the need of that sign. So, we may act on our need in Aries differently depending on what sign Mars is coming through, because Mars is the active agent of Aries. What sign Mars is coming through, how Mars is aspected, the context of that action, which would be the house. So, the nuances of personality, how we get these needs met, is described by our particular planetary placements and the signs and the aspects that we have there. So, the peculiarities of personality are shown by the, how the action that we will take, because action is the content for life. It's, it's what there is to do. So, the, uh, the planets are very specific to describing that. Does that make sense?

Travis, do you draw any like associations between, like the nature of the signs or like the personality of the signs and the season that they're in?

Oh, absolutely. We will talk about that extensively when we get to elements, more towards, I think that's the fourth lesson. We'll talk about that quite a bit because that has a lot to do with the, um, uh, the sort of the describing factor of that particular sign. So, we will definitely get into that. And these lessons are meant to build kind of upon each other. So, by the time we get to that, it'll make a lot of sense when, when we talk about that. That's a good question though. That is a big part of why the signs are the way that they are. So, in this particular lesson, we're just focusing on what the particular need is, what is the archetype. But yes, I already like you because you're going to challenge me.

So, there's a, a, a central factor when we talk about, um, Aries, and that leads us into Taurus. So, Taurus being the second sign, it is, it is how we build upon the things of Aries. How we build upon our birth, how we build upon our arrival, our ability to get to be us and to project ourselves into the world. So, Taurus is what we do with it. What do we do with our physical self? What do we do with, um, with, uh, with our birth? How we find ourselves in the world. So, Taurus is very much about, um, using Aries more in a tangible form. How are we, um, sorry, I've got all my notes just kind of spread around me. I'm very disorganized with notes. You'll learn that about me. I don't tend to put them in one place. So, there's a, let me put this one down too. I'm always surrounded by books and notes. So, there's a tangible, uh, quality to Taurus. How do we get things? How do we, um, use our physical self to, just to stake our claim, to to make ourselves distinct? Distinction is a big thing in Taurus. So, the need to use our resources. Taurus is the, uh, the way that we value ourselves as well. So, that universal human need for, for attention, for love, for caring, for, um, having eyes on us. Qualities are a big part of Taurus. The quality of things. Square, this this need to use and our natural resources are found in Taurus. What it is that we have to offer. So, this is why we associate Taurus with our, with our art, with our gifts, with our income, with our, uh, what we have to offer. So, a lot of the time, the money that we'll make, the, what we'll charge for our services, because a lot of, uh, what we charge very much depends on how valuable, how valuable we deem that service or offering to be. So, the value that we give to things, the value that we give to ourselves, that is a Taurus thing. Um, we have this universal way of valuing the things around us. We all do it. We all have a preference. So, Taurus is the way that we take in our, the information around us through our senses and determine what that means to us. We give value over one perception or sense or another. So, that, that universal human need to have physical security, it's a huge part of Taurus. How are we going to secure our physical being? So, oftentimes, when we talk about Taurus, we're talking about the way we want to keep things, as possessions. It's the material things around us that we want to have. And humans love their possessions. I only heard of, uh, one culture, and there may be others that I'm not aware of, but when I was young, very young, I saw a documentary about this, uh, very rare and very small culture, a group of people that lived in Africa, and they were just, uh, their culture was to just be a man and a wife and have one child, and they didn't have any possessions. They would just walk through the country and I foraged for what they had. And I remember very clearly that the narrator said, because it impressed me very clearly at that time, the narrator said, and these must be the happiest people on earth because they have no possessions. It's so interesting that, um, in the sign of Taurus, we have both a big part of our happiness, possessions, and what we can potentially be possessed by as well. We'll talk more about that when we talk about the polarity of the signs, the, uh, opposition of Scorpio to Taurus. That's a fascinating discussion.

So, the need for physical comfort and safety, huge, huge part of what it is to be human, and the sign of Taurus. The organs, the organs of consciousness that rule Taurus are the neck and the throat. And it's interesting that so often of the time, often we view the neck and the throat as something itself that is quite, uh, a sexy part of the body, very interesting. So, like the elbow, you know?

So, then, does anybody have any questions or comments or ideas about the sign of Taurus? Observations?

No question. Yes. So, if, yes, um, so if Aries is just the first idea of I and me, is Taurus where we start to create that I-U like relationship? Because now we're comparing ourselves to, this is where self-awareness starts to emerge.

Yes, yes. And, um, I don't think it's in this module, but in the module that we talked about houses, you talk very much about that. But also in the lesson that's upcoming about the process of human development, we'll talk about that a lot about how Taurus is that, that part of our development. It's, it's how we really start to to view ourselves as a result of how others view us. Because in that, that first stage of growth, when we're still young, we're just, um, learning, you know, what, how to use our senses, how to interpret the world through our senses. Things are just coming online for us in that first couple of years of life. And how our parents view us, the quality of the attention that we receive, that is a Taurus thing. Because the quality of that intention, the kind of face time we get, that is the first building block of self-esteem. How we view and see ourselves. It, because we see it in our parents' faces, we see it in their demeanor, we see it in how we're treated. How we feel about ourselves is very, very a huge early experience. And so, we don't know anything in that stage of development other than what is the quality of the attention that we're receiving. We don't have anything, we don't have anything for us to compare ourselves to other than what the feedback that we're getting from our parents, from our caregivers, from the people that are most responsible for our type, uh, or lack of, or abundance of self-esteem. So, yeah, valuation and the human need to value, the human penchant for valuing things, that is a major Taurus territory there.

So, then, is that kind of also, how would you say, where attachment style and how attachment theory is also starting to?

Yes, develop. We will talk about that extensively as well. That's a huge part of it. Because, yeah, that's the quality of the, the, the attention that we have. And, um, in the lesson about sign axes, the polarities of the signs, the, you know, Sagittarius versus Taurus, we'll really talk about the consequences of that. Because the, um, the way that we are loved very much as the basis for the way that we will love and the kind of love that we will continue to seek. So, that, that universal human need for love and, and for to to be physically taken care of, that is a big huge thing in Taurus. Humans need to be held. We need to be stroked. We need to have our senses stimulated. We need our parents to, um, to cuddle us and to play with our hair. And it, it is good for us. It makes us healthier. So, I remember, um, you know, my son was six weeks early himself, and I was dying of toxemia when I had him. So, he was only three pounds when he was born. But it was so, it was impressed upon me by the people working with him and with those infants, how important it was right from the beginning for him to have human touch and stimulation, not to be trapped in an incubator in an enclosed, you know, aquarium situation, to to be, um, cuddled and stroked and all the things that we do with babies. Because think about it, when you pick up a baby or a dog, as soon as you pick them up, you always kiss them. It's just natural. Every time you pick them up, you kiss them. We don't even think about it. So, the communication of, you know, how important am I? You know, our, our significance and our importance, that's a major, major part of what it is to be human. You know, we're not, we're not lizard children. We don't have a lizard experience where, you know, we come out of our leathery egg and we just wander off and, you know, we don't need that interaction. It, it's a part of our instinct to cling to each other, to, um, to see each other.

So, your view of like the signs, I think that's really interesting, honestly. I've never thought of it this way before. It's like essentially like a step-step-by-step evolution of human consciousness, outside of the elements, outside of modalities, outside of planets. It's like, you know, a sort of purposeful step towards, you know, some sort of transcendence, I guess. I don't know. But I think really interesting. Gets us to Pisces.

Yes, yes. Because when we talk about astrology, it's critically important to understand the holistic aspect of it. We can't know what it is or how it works unless we understand how we psychologically interpret it, how we're driven by it, what is behind it all. And it's these universal human instincts and needs, things that are common to all of us. And, uh, you find it everywhere. You find these symbols, you find these archetypal experiences, you find these needs in every culture and every experience through every age. It's always been with us. So, we don't know exactly when we, um, is starting to look around us and interpret things the way that we do. I suspect that astrology is a product of human evolution. And as we continue to evolve, we'll continue to apply new meanings to things, or different meanings to things, really, depending on how we grow and change and respond to the biosphere itself, because we're of the planet itself.

So, um, yeah, we have to understand. In order to be able to interpret charts really well, you have to understand the entire cycle. And because astrology is cycles within cycles within cycles. And so, we want to understand the relationships between those cycles, what it is, what part of the cycle we're looking at. Because when we're looking at Aries to Pisces, we're looking at a complete cycle. So, we're looking at what, uh, you know, it's a, you know, even describing the lunation cycle itself, the new moon to the square moon to the full moon to the square moon to the new moon. Astrology will make you understand the mechanics of life, how it all fits together, what it is to pull out and be able to see cycles within cycles within cycles. So, to understand what the broad cycle looks like, we have to look at that process of what it is to be human and what it is to, you know, what is common to all of us, the process of growth, the process of change. So, there's a universal human experience of, you know, of, uh, you know, birth and life and fear and death and commitment and transcendence. And that's what we're learning about, is what state, what stage of a cycle is somebody most struggling with or in, and, uh, what could we do about that? What could be the remedy for that? What could be the balance to that?

Does anybody else have any questions or comments about Taurus before we move on to Gemini?

Not particular to Taurus, but, um, more along the lines of, uh, comparing the signs to stages of human consciousness. One author that does that a lot is Linda Goodman, and her books on signs, she'll like compare all of them to different stages of human development.

Yep. It is a, certainly not a new concept. It's something that I think is, um, just a real basic way of just understanding what, what it all is and how it all fits together. Because signs themselves aren't found in, you know, without relationship to each other, just like our organs are not found apart from each other. They're in relationship to each other. Yeah, how it all fits together.

So, let's look at the sign of Gemini. Uh, so, the symbol, the twins. And Gemini is the need to, uh, to think and speak, to have a, uh, to have a thought process. It's, it's how we organize information and how we take in the information in our daily environment. So, the need to communicate. And this happens very early on in life. We start understanding language very, very early on. Before you would even think children are capable of it, they are already starting to comprehend language. And the babbling process, the process of naming things, of categorizing things, that is something that we build on in the sign of Taurus. Because in Taurus, we're determining what we like and dislike, our tastes, our preferences are developing in that particular sign. And then in Gemini, we're learning to give names to those, to to look at, what is the word? What is the symbol for that like or dislike or that thing, the preference? We're learning to communicate. So, we need to know. In the sign of Gemini, this is curiosity. Curiosity is a universal human thing. It's our curiosity that has, uh, been in part responsible for our ability to proliferate the way that we have. Our asking, our looking, our, you know, wanting to know more. So, we ask why in the sign of Gemini. That has consequences in the opposite side of Sagittarius. We'll talk about that later on. But there's a, uh, inventiveness. There's a, um, duality that we are talking strongly about in the sign of Gemini. The, um, way that we start to conceptualize is very much a Gemini process. And all humans have their mind functioning on a, a unique level, a subjective level. So, we have the need to think and know and to have the facts. We want the facts. And the sign of Gemini. But, uh, the facts could put a meaning through a meaning machine in the sign of Sagittarius. We'll talk about that later. But the collection of the facts. So, Gemini is what happens in the immediacy of our environment, our interaction with our siblings, our interaction with our closer neighbors, or the people within our hometown, or our more immediate environment is what's familiar to us. It's the, um, everyday communication that we engage in, the kind of news that we will take in. And, uh, the local news is more of a Gemini thing. So, the, um, the way that, uh, we learn to associate, how we communicate, the need to talk, that is a Gemini thing. And all humans talk. That's just a human thing. We have language. We, and we can talk in different ways. We don't always have to use our voice, because that need to communicate will find its way out one way or another. So, the need to, to share what is happening within our own mind and to be able to describe those things, it's a super, super unique thing. We don't, we seem to be the only animal that has complex language. And a lot of that has to do with our big brain. And Gemini is the arms, the hands, the lungs. So, the arms and the hands, things that do things, that are operational, busy parts of us. The arms and the hands, the tools that the basic tools that we work with, is also a Gemini thing. Humans use tools. It's something that we all seem to come up with in any age or culture. We have our unique tools, but we all use tools. So, the, uh, the tool of language in order to communicate what's going on in our heads, very, very much a Gemini thing. The lungs being a part of the body that drives the human being. The lungs are what take in the information that is actually the, the information, the air, the ether that is common to all of us. We all share the same air. We also all share the same water. Talk about that a lot more when we talk about the elements of the signs. But the way that we are, you know, breathing the same air, and oftentimes in our common place that we live, ingesting the same kind of information, or similar kind of information, news, interactions. So, that's why Gemini is like, you know, our town, or our vicinity. It's more what's common to our particular smaller societal group. So, humans are not, uh, solo, solo preachers. We are community creatures as well. We need other people. There's the odd Aquarian that can go off and live by themselves very happily for a long period of time, but most of us, not so much. We're more geared towards having some amount of human interaction that, uh, it's, it's a need. We can get very lonely, we can get very restless, we can be very unhappy if we don't have a way to fulfill that need of human interaction. So, in Gemini, we're developing a skill to speech and communication that makes it possible for us to have the ability to share our experiences and our individual experiences. The first languages that we learn.

Does anybody have any questions or comments, observations about Gemini?

I was just thinking when you said, you know, it's our kind of first need to ask why, and that concept of human development, thinking of when toddlers first start going, "Why is the sky blue? Why is it?" What that stage of life where that, that kind of interaction really starts to take shape.

Absolutely, absolutely. Um, my brother, who helps me put, put this meeting together, helps me with the website, um, he grew up to be a mechanical engineer, and he was the worst why-er of any child I've ever experienced. His curiosity was insatiable. And he's like, he was like 165, so it makes a lot of sense. He just could not get enough input. His, uh, Mercury too, are how we act on our input, but Gemini itself is the input, the data, the raw data that is here. We're leaving. Well, he has a lot of Sagittarius and Gemini as well. He's, he's something to be reckoned with. But I remember being in the kitchen, um, and he was asking my mom, you know, "Why, why, why?" And she looked at him and she said, "If you ask me why one more time, I'm going to go to jail." And his response, "Why?" She had to leave the room. It was too much. So, there is this quality of Gemini where we, it's this insatiable curiosity and the often the inability to stop consuming or asking information. So, the phrase "curiosity killed the cat" or "made their mother go to jail" is something they kind of plucked the Gemini.

So, so with this, would this be the stage where you get, um, I guess in psychology, what we call is theory of mind, where we sort of, uh, gain the ability to know that other people have different perspectives than our own and different values and stuff like that? Other people are different from us.

That is an early thing. Yes, that we're, we're learning that there's a, um, a difference between things in that stage of Taurus and Gemini as well. The, uh, way that we categorize things is a Gemini thing. So, categorize them through the senses, and more categorize them more mentally in Gemini. And so, it is the duality of things is beginning because we're looking at the separation of things, the categorization of things. We're not looking at the whole, uh, view of things, because our preferences are taking shape more and more and more. And our preferences are what make us unique, because it's what we like and we don't like. So, um, our mental energy, it's a big part of Gemini. We all, as human beings, have, uh, a very archetypal kind of mental energy where we really want to categorize and know and name the things around us. You know, you don't see cows going around giving names to things. It's very much a human experience.

So, oh, sorry, Kenya, is this where we start to maybe understand on a maybe very basic level that idea of shadow as well? Like that the dualism, that duality that Gemini has, like our kind of dark and light, or that starts early?

Because that's just simply a product of, uh, categorization. And that actually starts in Taurus with the breaking up of our experience through preference, through our senses. Because the consequence to Taurus is Scorpio. That makes sense. So, they're two sides of the same coin. One action is going to lead to a certain consequence. The type of actions that we take are described by the signs because they all have an active agent. We all have this need. We're going to act on these needs in certain ways. Some of us are going to act on these needs in healthier ways than others. And that's what sign, house placements, and especially aspects are going to show you how likely is somebody going to be or not be, or what is their way of getting a need met. Because if we say have, have, uh, the active agent of Taurus, Venus, say, coming through its home sign, coming through Taurus, Venus coming through Taurus, and it's only in good aspects to all planets, or at least personal planets, and to Pluto, it's not going to be very hard for that person to act on the needs of Taurus, the need to be loved and patted and petted and valued. And because we're not going to have a view that that need, we're not going to have a problem with that part of ourselves, with that need, with getting that need met. Now, if we have the active agent of Taurus in a difficult sign, or in difficult aspects, or in a difficult house, or there's layers of things going on, then it could be much more difficult to find the type of value, to find the kind of self-esteem we're looking for reflected back at us. Our own self-esteem can be greatly challenged. Relationships can be wild. It can be just more difficult. So, that's why the birth chart itself is showing how these archetypes are uniquely arranged in our own recipe.

Um, if we have time, so you were saying about Aries, like kind of something that it's missing is like self-reflection. And then with Taurus, there's a tendency to be possessed by the things that it's collecting. Is there like an equivalent within Gemini of something like, so you're talking about how Gemini is like mind and symbolism and stuff, what is the kind of blind spot that goes along with that step of growth?

Oh, we're going to talk about that a lot when we get to the two signs of the two sides of each sign, because they all have two sides. Yes. The short answer would be that we're a know-it-all rather than curious, because it has two sides. Do you see? Curiosity keeps us intelligent, but if we think we know everything, then we're just kind of a con man, which is another side to Gemini. So, we always have to be open. And we'll talk about that when we get to the duality, or the two sides of Gemini and Sagittarius, because we have the facts, the raw data in Gemini, but in Sagittarius, we have the extrapolation of those facts, because that's what we have abstract thinking in Sagittarius. Sagittarius is the meaning machine that we put the facts through, and then they come through in a certain way, depending on the meaning that we give to them, which has a lot to do with the kind of morality and cultural and religious exposure that we've had. This is a Sagittarius thing. So, it's like Gemini becomes blinded by knowledge. It certainly can. It certainly can. And we can become, uh, distracted, uh, because it is a very distractible sign. It's, uh, not a sign or a part of our being that's known for a great deal of focus. There's more consumption of the facts there. So, specialization is a hard thing. We're not specializing at that area, in that area of life, at that age that we're developing our Gemini process of speech. We're one, we're indiscriminate, which is why Gemini has a bisexual factor. There's an indiscrimination between, you know, what, what it all is. And then that process of, uh, early categorization. But we're generally very experimental in that, at that time of our life.

So, I guess that's why they say a little knowledge is a dangerous thing. It can't be, or that others say, "Just enough to be dangerous."

Yeah, yeah, that can happen.

So, uh, shall we move on to Cancer and see what is going on there? I don't know what I did with that particular note. All right.

So, the crab, the, the stomach, the chest, the breasts, the female parts of the body, the maternal parts of the body are what we associate with the sign of Cancer. So, being driven by these particular organs, the stomach is a really big part of our human experience. Our stomach often is what we receive a great deal of our messages from, and they often describe the, the stomach and the guts as our second brain. It's, uh, really the root of a lot of our intuitions and feelings. So, Cancer is feelings above everything else. Feelings that are unique to humans because we are an extreme emotional animal. Oh, my word, more so than any other animal I can think of. So, there's a, a way that we express ourselves through our feelings that we, um, you know, experience life as a result of our feelings. We all have a human universal need to feel. And Cancer is also belonging. All humans want to feel that they belong, that they have a personal meaning. We are needing that mother time or that primary caregiver time at that point in our life. We're also, uh, because we're a little bit older in that Cancer stage, there's more the wonder years, and where we kind of are less loud, we are more developing or concretizing our emotional life, our emotional center at that point in our development. And then the Leo stage, we get into the teenage years that we really focus on our ego center. So, in Cancer, it's really that establishment of a centered self, a central base that can provide the stage for the expression of these personal energies that we see going into Leo. So, Cancer is the need for home, for stability, for, uh, for for feeling that we are included, that we belong. So, um, humans need security. That's a huge part of Cancer. This universal human need for security and for often knowing what's next, because Cancer is memory as well. We'll talk more about this in the next lesson, but Cancer is what has happened. It's the past. So, it's where we start to establish our memories. That time of life before that, our memories are very few and far between and fleeting. Think about, can, can you guys even understand or remember much of kindergarten yourselves?

Yes, but I'm strange and remember most of my life.

Oh, I don't envy that. I like being able to forget my foibles frequently. Um, so, there's a, uh, a time of life when we just start to be able to remember and then to be able to reflect on those memories. And that's in that Cancer stage of growth there. Um, the foundation of our us, our the foundation of the kind of relationship we have with the world concerning security is found in the sign of Cancer. So, if we have a come from a past where there was a feeling we had those Cancer needs met, security, safety, continuity, belonging, we felt that we were part of that unit or that tribe, then that is a foundation for stable relationships with others, stable relationships with work, especially Capricorns is the consequence to Cancer, how we will go out and establish ourselves. That is originating and solidifying in that sign of Cancer. So, we all have that need for stability, safety, and security. And how we will get that need met, how we will act on that need, that will be described by the Moon, because the Moon rules Cancer.

Does anybody have any ideas or observations or questions about Cancer? Anything?

So, when you say, when you say security, do you, would you say like Taurus is more physical security and Cancer is more emotional security?

Absolutely. Yes. Wonderful distinction. Yes, wonderful, wonderful distinction there. So, yeah, we're establishing ourselves materially and physically because that's more our immediate need at that stage of life. We need to be fed, we need to be seen, we need to have our senses responded to, taken care of. The result of that is more of our emotional stability on the other end.

So, a good example of that would be, um, I remember the story, I, I think it was the, the 80s. Uh, it was, I'm not sure exactly what era. I believe it was the 80s, but and it may have been related to the collapse of the Soviet Union. I'm not exactly sure the context. But what was happening was there was a lot of Romanian babies that were up for adoption that did not have homes at that period of time. And there were so many that the system was overwhelmed. And the, the nurses came to understand and know and explain to each other that if you do not pick up the child, if you do not regard the child, if you don't give the child any physical attention, then they will stop crying, they will stop asking. But if you stimulate the child, if you give them attention, they will want more and they will become a bother. And so, there's a whole, you know, generation of children that, you know, probably have, you know, some severe emotional problems as a result of that, because the quality of the physical attention has a lot to do with our emotional stability that's built upon that.

So, makes sense. Makes sense. That is also part of our emotional stability. So, these things are adding up to what it is to be human, you see.

Kind of like those, uh, feral children too.

Oh, sure. Uh-huh. That's what they were exposed to. Uh-huh. And so, um, that, those, uh, types of children, because they developed in a way, they weren't being regarded as uniquely human, that's, um, very hard, if not impossible, to reverse that kind of, uh, exposure there.

So, anybody else have any questions or observations about Cancer right now?

All right. We talked about this being, actually, I think about this quite a bit. Um, you talked about this being where memory really, um, starts to form and take place. And because there's this emotional memory element of it, and it's also representing like our foundation, our home, our parents, especially our kind of matrilineal experience. I also like tend to associate Cancer with like ancestral memory.

Yes, absolutely. We'll talk about that more when we're talking about the stages of growth. Absolutely. Because Cancer is the tribe that we grow up within. Um, and we'll talk about this more too when we're talking about the consequence to Cancer, which is Capricorn, how we establish ourselves. So, the, uh, the way that we, in what we inherit, is a Cancer thing. It's the memories that we're born into. We're not born into a situation or to parents that are themselves a blank slate. So, the, uh, the emotional way that we are is very much carrying forward the emotional way, or the emotional effects of our parents, family, tribe, community, ancestors. So, Cancer is an unconscious, is where we find an unconscious element to what it is to be human. We also find that in Scorpio and Pisces. All the water houses have an unconscious element to them. All water is about the collective in some way. So, collective human, say, DNA memory, collective human memory, communal collective human memory. And the, um, yeah, the, the exposure that we've had to other people's problems, or other people's lack of ability to attach or to provide safety or security, that's a big part of Cancer as well. Because there's two sides to each sign, and we can have that loving and belonging and patting and pinching and, you know, being cuddled, but we can also have that need but not have it be met. And then that being our more unique human experience. So, then we would end up by, you know, more in a place of instability. But that need for belonging, stability, and for, uh, having a sense of a more closer community, we've all got that.

And would you say the, like the characteristics and the archetype of Cancer, um, would you say that it is amplified in the energy of, like, that it takes on so for, like, Cancer women versus Cancer men, would you say that those characteristics and the archetype of Cancer is amplified in Cancer women versus men?

No, I would say that it doesn't, it's not discriminating. That we can have it in either. Like my father, he's a really good example. I'll use my parents as an example. You'll learn here and there throughout these lessons because they're so easy to understand and they're entertaining. But my father is mostly Cancer. He has Leo Venus, everything else in Cancer, and it's in the fourth house. So, my mother is almost all Aries and it's in the 12th house. So, he has, I know, I get you, Kenya. She's my best friend, but she's, she's a fun one. Um, so, my dad has always had these very feminine characteristics about him, and, you know, loves to, you know, bake and take care of the kids. And he was a really good dad. It's really nice to have a maternal father because you kind of get the best of both worlds in one parent. So, my mom has always been the leader in the relationship, and, uh, he's always found a lot of safety in being with her. She's his safety net, you could say. So, in men, if they do have a lot of those Cancer characteristics, then you will, it doesn't mean that he will be gay. It doesn't mean that, you know, he will recreate or appear feminine, but he will have more of, um, emotional needs, be emotional, and then have some feminine characteristics that he's going to be more, um, acting out in his personality.

Travis, you talked about like the sort of dynamic between opposites. And I guess I bring this up because I have Sun in Aries, but my Ascendant isn't Cancer. So, I have a lot of trouble with like mistaken identity, being like, people think that I'm like a soft touch, and then I'm like, very quiet, but then I'm like expressive and, you know, I do something that they don't expect, and they're like, well, so there's like this kind of chafing action. And I was wondering like what the perspective of that would be from like an evolutionary point of view, you know, is there something complementary in there or something, you know, I'm saying?

I do. I do. So, is the Sun in the third or the fourth house? Sun is in the ninth house. Okay. Wait, so, so it's Aries, wait, Cancer rising, and then Sun comes into, okay, I get it. I was born at around noon, you know, okay. So, Sun comes into the ninth house. That's probably one of the reasons you're in this class. So, is it inconjunct to the Ascendant or square Ascendant?

So, we're square. Yeah. Okay. So, that does present us with an issue anytime we have a planet that is square to any angle, we're going to have a unique issue when it comes to the particular need that is represented by that particular angle in conflict with another part of our psyche. Because the birth chart is, it's like a symphony of 12 voices. The self is the whole birth chart. So, that's the symphony all together is the self. The self seeks to bring all of these archetypes, these different voices, into harmony. It seeks to integrate. So, if we have difficult aspects, we have different psychic factors, of different voices within us, with different needs there. They're discordant to each other. They are not in tune. They're not harmonizing. So, that's when we end up with hypocrisy, which we all have within us. Every single one of us has hypocrisy within us, because we're this, and we're also that, and we want this, but we also want that. None of us is devoid of hypocrisy. And so, that is voices within us that are different. They're divergent. I mean, how many of us have the urge to merge, but the need to be free? How many of us want to know it all, but, you know, we don't want to have to work for it? This is what it is to be human, these unique experiences. If I'm this way, but I'm also that way. So, when we have a Sun square to the Ascendant, we have the two different parts of the ego that are not in tune with each other. So, the first part of the ego is the first house, that is Aries. Aries is the id. We'll talk more about this in the next lesson, the id, the most basic part of what it is to assert ourselves. We're born as the id, as the baby. We're uncomfortable. Yes, we are just assertive. We are brash.

We are not considerate in that particular frame because we haven't learned anything. It's the raw, untamed, instinctual human being. It's the naked, screaming baby. So, the part of the self that is responsible for initiating things, that's what you show first, Travis. That's the Ascendant.

And the part of the self, the Sun, which is—we'll talk about this next, this is a segway into the next sign—the Sun, which is the, uh, more conscious part of our ego development. So, we've learned some things about ourselves by the time we get to the stage of Leo, because Leo is where we have our teenage years. This is where we start to decide who we are. We start to differentiate from our parents. Our ego is really developing at this time.

So, isn't Leo then, like, kind of the first step to true individuation? That's like achieved on the opposite end of the spectrum at Aquarius. That's going to be an awesome lesson, and you guys should make a lot of time for that one when we get to it. Because yes, when we get to the Leo-Aquarius axis, um, yes, that is how we differentiate ourselves in relationship to our society. So, it's, it's the, it's the individual individuation versus the collective versus the others versus the people that I have to live with. Because the one is a consequence of the other. The signs are all like that when you look at their axes.

So, the Sun is the part of the self that you're more aware of. It's what you want to be. It's how we all want to shine. Leo is that universal need to be recognized, to be validated. It's our unique personal expression, which we're developing in those teenage years. This is where we're doing our hair weird, and we're experimenting with different clothes, and we are, excuse me, acting out in ways that are often, you know, just descriptive of who we are.

So, that is there is a language to being in Chicago, for sure. Uh, you know, language is regional. We'll talk about that more in Sagittarius. That, yeah, it's, um, something that, you know, you go from place to place, or state to state, or just town to town, even, and people have their different expressions and ways of talking, which is a Gemini thing, isn't it? Here we have that local language, which we talked about already. Yeah, I'm in California, San Diego specifically, and I've been wondering recently whether, whether Californians have an accent to other people in other states because I feel like I don't have an accent, but I know that's not how people in other states might necessarily perceive it. Oh, what do you guys think? Is there a Californian accent? I don't think so. I think it depends on where you are. I think like some parts of California, there's a really thick, almost Valley-like accent. And oh, that can happen. That can happen. Yeah, I've always thought the California accent was very flat. I mean, it's very archetypally American. Yeah. So, maybe that's why most of us don't associate it with an accent. Yeah. Oh, I'm sorry. I'm obviously from Northern California, so I've only moved here, uh, in 2016. Celia, are you named after Celia Cruz? Yes, actually. Um, our family name was already Cruz, and my parents had an agreement that if I was a girl, my my mom would get to choose, and that was her favorite singer. Um, I'm named after a Spanish, uh, policewoman born in Spain, and my mom was looking through the police, the newspaper article about a Spanish policewoman named Jewel. So, she thought that was a very cool name. And my grandmother hated it. She, my mom really had to fight for that one. All right, so, oh, sorry, Celia. Sorry. The joke is that I can't sing or dance, though. And since I'm in San Diego, I'm, and I work in a very heavily Spanish-speaking population, so it's, it's happening more where people are like, "Send me a Cruz, are you sure that's your name?" And so, it's, it's always funny. That's my standard joke. Yes, but I can't sing or dance. Um, oh, well, my name's Jewel, but I can't write music. Can't sing either. I fancy that I can, but it's not actually the case.

So, Travis, to address your question, we had left off on that. The qualities of Leo are leading us into giving that a really solid answer or an answer we can all understand. So, Leo's that development of our dynamism, our creativity. So, we start to decide who we are. Our ego starts to very become more concrete in that stage of life because this is the teenage stage of life. So, it's our personal expression. Leo is that universal need to have our self validated through our own type of personal expression. So, the kind of applause we get, that's really the consequence of Leo, which is Aquarius. Because Aquarius is the audience. Aquarius is the people. It's the network. It's the, the results of the stage. So, Leo's the stage. The people out there receiving the creativity, or the audience, that's Aquarius.

So, our identity starts to, uh, become concrete in Leo. It is that personal identity. It's what I want to be applauded for and validated by, and has a lot to do with our self-esteem. Leo. And so, are you associated with the lion? Our pride? The type of pride that we have in our self? The type of pride that we have in our personal expression? So, when we have the Sun, which is the active agent of Leo, the Sun is how we're going to get the needs of Leo met. How are we going to get the universal need to show up and be recognized and be validated met? What's that going to look like for us?

So, when we have the Sun in a hard aspect to the Ascendant, how we assert ourselves, the initial impulse that we put out there, and how that's received, is very different from how we're seeking validation, how we want our identity to be recognized, how we see ourselves. We're much more, again, so forward than not terribly conscious at the Ascendant. It's like the automatic behavior because think of how, uh, how basic the ID is. It's the untamed part of our self that just asserts.

So, um, I have a practical example. I have a Virgo Ascendant and Mercury in Virgo right on the Ascendant, Mars in Virgo in the first house, and very nerdy, Virgo-heavy. So, when I show up, my initial impulse is to be more demure and quiet, not really a huge, showy, "here I am." I wear the glasses, and it's, it's more of a, you know, just a quieter brand of me. But yet, I have the Sun in Leo. There's another side to things. So, there's a, a part of myself that I consciously recognize as, you know, more showy and fun and, uh, very, very different than Virgo.

So, when we have the Sun in a hard, a direct hard aspect to the Ascendant, it's often very hard to build the kind of self-esteem that we're looking for because we're being received differently than we think of ourselves or know ourselves to be, or the kind of validation or input, the kind of perception that we want. We don't seem to get that. People don't seem to know who we are. So, there's that. There's, yeah, I mean, like, I feel like I've suffered from imposter syndrome my whole life. Like, not internally because I joined the party. We've all got that going on in some kind of aspect in our chart, even me. Oh, but yeah, that makes a lot of sense. Yeah, absolutely. It's, um, something where you, the lesson in it, you have to look at the, the, the angle in the planets and the actions that are there. The lesson in it is to act with these two things in tandem. So, think of it as the, the choir of 12 voices. You have two voices where one is singing loud, loud, loud, we can only hear, and the other one is singing more very softly and softly, more tentatively, and isn't really sure how it's going to be received. So, we have to tone down the volume of the naturalness of sort of the compensating nature of the Ascendant and bring in consciously. You have to exert some amount of energy. You're going to draw your attention to this issue and show up as you are, with your own unique brand of personal expression in the moment. Because what we find with people who have hard aspects from Sun to the Ascendant is, we meet them, and we have an experience of them, but then it's like a bait and switch. Like, "Wait a minute, I didn't know you had this other thing. Who was this that I'm dealing with?" So, that's our own unique brand of hypocrisy. You see, I'm one way because I'm also another.

Do you think that it's easier to experience the Sun, even when it's in hard aspect to the Ascendant, when it is above the horizon, like in a day chart, versus? I feel like it's even more complicated when it's a night chart, and so you can't even maybe even see the Sun well, because it's more personal. Uh, anything that happens from the first to the sixth house is the personal development of life. So, we're still in the personal development phase. When we are in Leo, we don't get to the social development because we're not an adult until we get to Libra. So, we're developing, um, yeah, we're developing. We aren't, as I would say, as aware when we have things in the bottom of the chart versus the top. In the top, we have more of a social aspect to things. We can get more feedback, you could say. We can have more social consequences. So, the Sun coming into the ninth house, the, the ninth house is the context. That's the area of life that this problem of, uh, being received differently than we want to be received, um, not showing up as we think we really are, needing to learn to assert consciously the authenticity of self-expression, that's showing up in the context of, um, where we find our meaning in life, philosophy, the search, the quest, gurus, so looking for, you know, people that have information, that have insight, teachers, systems of education, or travel. Something where we could learn. All places of learning and higher learning will be directly affected by this particular square. So, it, because it's a square, it could be more difficult for somebody to go as high or as far as they wanted to go in the context of the ninth house because we could be dealing with a confidence issue in that particular area of life. Even though we may be the smartest person on the block, what we think about ourselves is king. How we view ourselves is king. Doesn't matter what the facts are about ourselves. Personality is a product of how we think ourselves up. It's really what it comes down to. How do we image ourselves up? And, um, that starts to change as we work on our, our hard aspects. We start to understand ourselves more objectively, more, and I, we start to get ourselves. We're not a mystery anymore. So, that's a big part of, you know, what it is to to grow and to age and be exposed to life is we're going to learn things, and hopefully, we're going to have a lot of insight along the way. So, the more insight we have into what is your, Travis, your unique show, your creativity, and then showing up with that, yeah, showing up with that, the vivaciousness of the ninth house, right away. So, people just know, they just know what they're getting. I tend to find that the more authentic I am, the more people think that I'm faking or that I'm not being authentic. Like, I don't want to diverge too far from, you know, the topic at hand to talk about this specific aspect. I just, I wanted to know like, but in the square itself between Aries and Cancer, like you talked about how in opposition, there's like a complimentary aspect. I just wanted to know if there was anything complementary between the square. Because squares, no, it's not. Not in a square. Not a usually a semi-square, um, cis-quadrants sometimes if they're coming into trying signs. Um, squares are parts of our psyche that are in direct conflict with each other. They don't have anything, uh, really in to share or in common. In conjunctions, or worse, because we definitely don't have anything in common. Then in conjunctions, like the one part of the psyche doesn't know what the other side part of the psyche is doing. The left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. Oppositions bring us much easier awareness because we have a, it's more critical. It's, we see the crisis. But within conjunctions, it's like we are dissociating one part from the other, and then we have the compensatory problem that comes up as a consequence of that. So, with squares, there's not a compensating factor. So, it's like if we are, uh, let's use an analogy of, um, pressure. So, if we have two, let's look at a seesaw. Let's imagine two boulders on a seesaw on a teeter-totter. So, there's the two, the two planets. These are the two needs, parts of the psyche. So, when we have a conjunction of those two, the two boulders are sitting right next to each other, and they're weighing down one part of the seesaw. Only when the two boulders are opposite to each other, there's a balance to them. When they're square, they're at a standstill. They're moved so close into each other that there's this constant, frictionless, constant weight where neither one of them is winning, neither one is going down or up. We have an in conjunction, one is on the teeter-totter, the one is off the teeter-totter completely. So, the different interactions and the different kind of pressure that creates the motion are different. The square is like a constant battle within us, a constant tension that we are wrestling against, and it's where we have to exert a great deal of psychic effort. The hard aspects are where we have to assert ourselves. We have to do something. We have to direct some amount of energy to that problem, and then it becomes a strength. It's where we build, we build, we build muscle. So, what you're doing right now is, it's like you're lifting a weight, and you're still building that bicep, building that bicep. It's tiring, and you haven't gotten to where you can put it down. We can just enjoy the muscle that has been built. We'll still have to work on ourselves to some degree because I don't think it's, it's rare, you know, when we learn a lesson completely and forever after, and we never have to go back to it. We usually have to revisit things and maintain ourselves to some degree. So, um, yeah, I think it comes down to a crisis of confidence when we have the Sun in a difficult aspect to the Ascendant, is basically what it comes down to.

So, the Sun, uh, I'm sorry, Leo. The self-expression, the creativity, our pleasure. The Sun wants to shine for the sake of shining. Leo is our causeless happiness. It's where we dance like nobody's watching. It's hedonistic. Humans have this need to dance and express, and this is a romantic sign. We have a need for romance, the need to feel that, um, there's something exciting in our daily life. That need for excitement and to express that excitement that we can feel ourselves. So, our unique brand of entertainment is what we really find there. Does anybody, anybody else have any questions or observations or comments about Leo? This rules, this, um, body part-wise, is the heart. Yes. The heart and the back, right? The upper back, yeah. The part that we can have a lot of tension in if we aren't, uh, expressing ourselves authentically. Yeah. So, that's the part of the body that drives us. Who, I'm sorry, someone else said something. Sorry, it's me. Anya. I also would like to add something. Um, I guess Leo is also a feeling, or it's a sensation, and a sensation of feeling alive, you know? Yes. Really, if you feel alive with all your senses, the whole body feels alive, and then this joy comes up. So, I think it's really about feeling alive. That no other sign represents that much like the Leo sign. Yeah. Right. All the fire signs have a type of aliveness to them, but Leo is our vitality. Yes. It's the party. Yes. It's the parties. Yeah. So, our type of vitality, you know, say we have the active agent of Leo, the Sun, in a square or a very hard aspect to Saturn. Let's use that as an example. Our vitality can be restricted. We can have this idea that we have to work hard to express ourselves, or that outside forces, or, uh, disapproval, or our own judgments, or the judgments of people around us, that's really limiting our brand of of expression. And so, that can cut down greatly on our vitality, or maybe this, like, blanket has been thrown over our energy or our show. Celia, sorry. No problems. I'm sorry. So, this, or maybe Saturn in the fifth house, kind of an equivalent. That would be different in the, um, Saturn would be showing up in the context of the fifth house, and the way that we act on Saturn would be showing up in fifth house environments. But the, uh, and that would have impacts, you know, on our self-esteem and on our, our Sun area of the, of life. But the actual way that we act on the Sun itself, that we act on Leo itself, that would be more specific to the aspect that the Sun had to Saturn. So, the lesson there would be to really look at our expectations, our parents' judgments, the judgments of society, what it is that we feel is encapsulating us or binding us or constricting us, so we can really start to shine through that. Like a vase, a vase that has a light in it, and we would want it to crack and open and age in such a way that the Sun, that the light from that light bulb was able to just pierce through, and someday maybe even that vase would shatter, and all we would have would be that beautiful light bulb. So, yeah, the, uh, the need to have fun, the need to party, that's a huge part of things, and we'll talk about that more as a societal consequence when we talk about the two-sign axes in Aquarius, um, because partying is a community thing. It actually brings us together. It can create bonds. It can, um, we need other people in order to have a party. So, um, yeah, how we offer ourselves, our unique show, big part of Leo there. We've all got a show of some kind that we can, we can offer. So, really quick, so when we talk about the stages of human development through the signs, and you talk about the, like, the top half of the chart and the bottom half of the chart, would that then mean that certain, like, Sun signs are more like evolved than others? Or they maybe, maybe they understand certain things better than other Sun signs? Would that, would that mean that? I think that what you're getting at is that certain planets and certain signs can be more helpful to getting that need met. It can be more natural to getting that need met. So, the Sun in, in social signs, or in signs where it's easier to project ourselves, it's easier to do our dance, you could say. So, let's look at the Sun in Virgo. We could actually be very reticent about doing our dance because they're worried about how people are going to receive it. Is it good enough? Is it, was it perfect enough? And Leo, just in its own sign, we don't give a crap. We're just dancing because it's fun. It's our unique dance. So, the Sun in certain signs, yes, that can make it easier to express that need to be uniquely fun. It's, it's our, it's our court jester that we have there. And, um, yeah, often easier. Travis, sorry. I feel like Aquarius is often like, kind of typecast as like the weirdo sign or like the misunderstood sign. But I feel like that aspect of Leo, that just living to live, being happy to be happy, is so like widely misunderstood by people. My boss at work, she's got Sun and Mars and Leo. She's just a very vivacious, or my, might be on my boss at work, she's just very vivacious and it's, you know, happy and alive, and people don't know what to make of it a lot of the time. But it's part of her success, too. And it's, I like, I get it. Like, you know, she's just happy for happy's sake. That's such like a thing that people just don't seem to get on the world stage. No, no. And that brings us into, uh, issues surrounding creativity. When we are uniquely creative, we can stir up some trouble because it's like, have a target on your back. And so, that's why a lot of people, you know, will recede into the wallflower, or recede into obscurity. We can have that tendency in Aquarius, the opposite sign, because if we stand out, that's taking a huge risk. I mean, people could say whatever they want about us, and it, uh, it's like showing your, your unique flame, even though you know some people are gonna try to blow it out, and you do it anyway because it's what it is to be influential as well. So, um, we need more of us to be brave in showing who we really are because humans are interesting. And the people who are typically are filled with leadership qualities or the ability to stand out are often psychopaths. And that's what humans choose to follow by and large, is people that have narcissistic, sociopathic, psychopathic qualities to them. Different because they are often so self-unaware, they don't care what people really think of them. They're only thinking of themselves. So, oftentimes, we do end up following the platonic, the highly Uranian, and the, the people who do think they're all that. And it, we ended up, you're right, you said Uranian, and I had to say it. We do have Uranus quintile to the Ascendant. We may talk about that in a lesson one day. Yes. Um, I try to remain apolitical, but you guys are going to figure things out about me as we go along. And, um, another thing about this class is it's okay to disagree. It is okay to disagree. Sometimes we'll have to agree to disagree. And we're gonna have a variety of opinions. I tend to attract a very Uranian audience where we're going to have some people from all different varieties of life. Aren't you a Moon, sorry, aren't you a Moon-Uranus person? I hope. Moon conjunct Uranus? Yes, I do. So, very comfortable with a variety of people. I have my square Uranus. Oh, it's a little bit more friction there. Yeah, but it can bring more awareness. That's what they do. Um, so, yeah, I teach from my head. I, I only have my head and my experience and my own perceptions. So, there may be things that I teach in ways that you don't agree with, or that are, you know, triggering. That's something that hopefully is aside from that, what you're gonna actually get out of the, out of the lessons and out of the information. But we're gonna have differences among us because we're going to be a highly Uranian group, and that will be interesting to illustrate as we go along how Uranian groups work and function, how people flock or don't together. So, um, yeah, we'll often come across different personalities that we can point to to being an archetypal example of a certain combination, and that's a really good thing because that can teach us in real life how things actually practically work, what we actually see, and we may even have a variety of opinions about that too. That's okay too. Will we do chart analysis in the course? As we go along into the, uh, not in this course because we're only learning about the nuances and the basics and the different sides of the signs itself. In the next one, Level Two, Part Two, that's where we start interpreting planets through signs. And then in Part Three, we'll interpret planets through the signs and through the houses. And then in subsequent lessons, I'll offer, um, the aspect series. We'll start interpreting the specifics of aspects, and then we'll get heavier into chart interpretation there. But I'm very slow and I'm very wordy, so it takes me a while to get through certain subjects because I tend to want to include as much information as I can in that particular module. Um, so you're gonna, so after this course, this six-week course is done, you're going to just continue to, like, I'll offer more levels throughout the whole year. Yeah. And so things will get more complex as we go. Yeah. And I'll probably, you know, offer, you know, two different tiers, two different tracks there. Just to come back to Cancer. When you have this kind of, let's say, instability or something that was not, uh, to to serve the feeling of belonging and feeling good, you know, some of the stuff of Cancer. So, then normally after this rises Leo. So, if you just have some kind of stuck in these Cancer issues, then would you say that it might be possible to get too attached to that Cancerian idea to look for some needs in there that that stops you from going out to shine? So, that you're stuck in this Cancerian thing? Sure, sure. I can absolutely be a consequence of that stage of development because we can develop in two ways in Cancer. We can either have the, we can develop the, the stage that's the, the, uh, platform, the security, the stability. We have to have a stable stage in order for our ego to continue to develop in ways that it's going to archetypally shine. So, if we are, we don't have that stability, if we have a lot of insecurity, if we are so emotional, um, you know, about ourselves or about life, if our, if our emotional, uh, well-being isn't intact, then our self-esteem is going to suffer. The ability to project ourselves in a healthy way, to get the kind of validity, the kind of show that we want to be received, how we want that, will be compromised. So, yeah, um, on the other hand, we can have very, very compensating behavior. We can have, you know, a lack of shyness, but, you know, still to still have that core problem of instability, but be acting out in a way that is compensatory to that instability. So, we could have somebody who is, um, you know, very bombastic or brash, or just, uh, wants to take up all the oxygen in the room. So, that's their unique way of balancing out or compensating for that feeling of, uh, not being neglected, or not seen, or not cared for. So, we have different aspects, then, that's going to show us what, uh, their particular brand of compensating is going to look like. Do you think that's good? Sorry. Good. One second. Try just to, um, follow this up. So, in this sense, then, this would be not to shine for the sake to shine. It's more like to shine to attract other people's attention or whatsoever, just to shine to fulfill that is something ability? Okay. So, there, because there becomes something manipulative in it. There becomes something that is about, "How can I use my ego and my self-expression in order to fulfill this deeper need for belonging?" Yeah. So, it's not just an offering. It's not just dancing for the sake of dancing. It's dancing because we want some kind of special validation, deeper meaning out of it, right? Yeah. Travis, um, so there's like six, like a succession of development, like sign after sign, I guess, like within an element, you know, like you start with Aries, and then the next step in, like, the fire triple city, or whatever, is Leo. What is there, like, what is that step for, like, fire, you know? Well, it's the successive development of the ego center. So, we have the ID, we have the more concrete, mature ego, the identity of the identity, the ID, the identity. And then in Sagittarius, the other fire sign, we have the super ego. We have our morality. We have the deeper meaning that we give to things, and that is culturally derived. So, we're coming from a cultural progression here. Because from Leo, we come out of a water sign. From Sagittarius, we come out of a water sign. Or coming out of our unique brand of cultural mythology in Cancer. We will talk about more about what is cultural mythology and the consequences of it as we go along in these lessons. But this is where, uh, we're more enclosed by what we all know, just as a, as a particular culture, what we can see within our horizon. We don't know what's over the horizon, not in Cancer. We discover that in Sagittarius. So, we have, um, different sides of acting out on our ego, or our unique brand of self, in all the fire signs. Does that help to cover it, at least initially? Okay. We're going to exhaust that subject as we go along, don't worry. Um, anybody else have any comments? Do you, um, do you know the astrologer Rick Levine? I've heard of him, but I am almost wholly ignorant of almost all other astrologers. I have no idea what anybody else has got going on. I don't know what is going on there. I am, I take up, I take an apprenticeship with him, and he often just with the fire, just that progression of how it even functions, he'll, you know, kind of describe Aries as like that initial spark, and then Leo is the pure flame. Yes. And he describes Sagittarius as like this bright, distant star, like, you know, you, you, it, it is a blaze, but it's like it's far away, you can't quite touch it, type thing. And I, I always think that's really fascinating. The progress of modalities that you're talking about from, uh, a cardinal sign, yeah, to mutable sign, to the dispersion, because in Sagittarius, that's a social sign. That's, uh, where we spread our ideas. It's publishing. We spread the word. Um, yeah, so there is a disseminating factor. We are casting our light upon us. So, that's a very good analogy. Absolutely. I'd agree with that. Yeah, I like him. Um, anybody else have anything to add? Do you see how questions are so good in these lessons? At least we have seasons. Back home, there was nothing but heat and heat, and I like it here. It's nice. It can happen. Can happen. I know my mom, when we lived in Hawaii, she even had that complaint about Hawaii, that there was never any seasons. And you can complain about Hawaii. She found a way. Yeah. I, that's why I enjoy San Diego. Yeah, it's one long season. Yeah, yeah. Eternal spring. Okay, guys, so let's move on to Virgo. Super exciting Virgo, which we always associate with, uh, super excitement, right? Um, so this is the virgin, the sign of the, the maiden, the, um, the helper. So, in Virgo, there is a preparation. It's the universal need for organization, the universal need to take care, to address the little things in our lives, how we organize things and categorize things in an extreme way. So, we begin that process in Gemini, and we refine it. We refine things in Virgo. So, Virgo is extremely, um, persnickety. This is a sign where we want things just so. So, this is why, you know, me, who has a ton of Virgo, when you look into my cabinets in the kitchen, I'll have all my white dishes displayed just so, you know, and all the labels are turned outward, and it just looks very beautiful. I can see everything that I have. The organization is very satisfying in that particular sign. Like, um, my garden, the reason I love it so much, one of the reasons I love it so much, is because I get to maintain it. I get to take care of it. It's a human need to organize, maintain, and our health is found in the sign of Virgo. Our intestines, our digestive system, the abdomen, a lot of what we need to maintain in order to have a healthy body. If we can maintain those guts and our sewer system, then we have usually got a pretty healthy body. Otherwise, so, um, the need to discriminate is a big part of Virgo, to know one thing from another, to be able to tell the difference between this from that, because it's where we have a clarity of focus there. So, analysis in the sign of Virgo. All humans are prone to some kind of analysis. We like to break things down and look at the parts of them. So, the opposite sign to Virgo is Pisces, which is the whole is everything. It's the big blob, everything together. But we have the individual components in Virgo. So, this is where we can find obsessive compulsion. Compulsion is also a Scorpio thing, but the need, the obsessive need to organize, to have things just so, to separate this from that, that is a very Virgo thing. And I'll catch myself in in these instances. If there's like a mess on the table, if I can arrange the mess so it's more symmetrical, I can live with it, you know? It's a very, very Virgo thing. So, um, we need to have some kind of organization because organization, the ability to to orient ourselves in a way where we can be more effective, that is something that contributes to our health. Routine and health are tied together. Have you ever noticed that whenever your routine is off, your health tends to suffer? Whenever we are, uh, you know, feeling unhealthy, a lot of times we need to get a better routine about us. So, these two things are very much tied together in the sign of Virgo. And this is also where we have the need to help, to be of service. Virgo is where we want to lend a hand. So, I, the kind of participation that we are prone to is a Virgo thing. And that begins with our early training in Gemini because it's our sibling relationships that are a lot of our training when it comes to how are we going to function on the larger scope of society. We have our co-worker relationships in the sign of Virgo. A lot of how we deal with our co-workers is very reminiscent with how we dealt with our siblings. Mercury rules both areas of life. Mercury rules both signs. They have a lot in common. So, we have the acquiring of words and information and symbols in Gemini, and the organization of them. How good are we at using them in the sign of Virgo? Virgo is also the proper ability to know one thing from from another, because we have to know that in order to have good relationships in the next preceding sign of Libra. If our powers of discrimination are off, and I'm not talking about like discrimination like racist discrimination, I'm talking about a much broader usage of the word, to to see this from that, to to see it as as different or separate. So, if we can't know one thing from another, we can't make a very good decision when it comes to relationships. Because if, say, if we approach a relationship where we're all Pisces, we can't see the nuances, we can't see the details, we can't see the devil in the details. We're only seeing the potential in the big picture. Our forgiveness is just on crack. We need to bring it down to size. We're not going to choose a very good relationship. It's not going to be very healthy. It's probably going to be very depleting because we did not see one thing from another. It's discernment. Discernment is exactly the power of discernment. Yes. It can be a good thing. It's necessary to be able to discern right from wrong, this from that, I like this, I don't like that. We lack discernment when we have the blob in Pisces. It's everything holistically together. So, we have the parts of the blob in Virgo. The sag in Pisces, and me wants to say, but it's also intolerance. It can be because we have two sides to each sign. We can have discrimination and the ability to see one from that, one thing from that, in a way that is very damaging. Absolutely. And is selfish, and is ignorant, and all of those things. We can also have it be something that makes us very astutely be able to see what is right from wrong. So, it can be healthy, it can be unhealthy. Depends on what we do with it. All the signs are like that. They have a potential, and the different stages of growth, uh, tend to build on each other. You know, if we fail in one stage of growth, the chances of us failing in the next are going in that same divergent, devolving way, probably higher. But sometimes we can pivot, especially in the eighth house, especially in Scorpio, we can pivot. We can turn it all around. We can change. We can transform. Lifetime. It's a good one. Does anybody have any questions about Virgo or comments or observations? Oh, we have a, we have a question. Joe. Yeah. Um, so, uh, I, I don't want to jump ahead too much, uh, because I know we're gonna be talking about houses, but, uh, is there any similarities between someone who has a Virgo Sun and Sun in the sixth house? Good question. We'll talk about that extensively as we go on. Probably to. Are you tired of hearing me talking about it? So, the Sun in Virgo is how it is, is the style of of expression. So, it's how we do it, how we act on it. It's the active way. But that, if we just have, say, the Sun in a different sign, any sign, and then we have the Sun in the sixth house, the Sun will not, it's style is not the sixth house. Its context is sixth house. So, you, what you're talking about is like taking an actor. Say, we have, we're gonna take, uh, we're gonna take Johnny Depp. So, we're gonna take Pluto, and we are going to put Pluto in Virgo, and we're going to put it in the sixth house. So, this is Johnny Depp playing the role of an accountant, and that happens within the context of where accountants naturally are. But say we have the Sun, and it's, use a different example. We have the Sun, we have Madonna, and she is coming through her own sign, Leo, but that's in the context of the sixth house. So, she is still going to act in her uniquely fabulous way, but that's going to be in the context of organization, paying very close attention to the details of things. How is she coming off? Being very discriminating about her own self, high expectations, you can even see eating and weight problems, things related to, you know, even an obsessive idea of how I should physically be, because we want to be perfect in that context. So, she would find herself in more environments dealing with counselors, health professionals, coaches, dietitians, people that can help her unique brand of her emerge through more the context or the places, the experiences of sixth house environments. Can you see the difference? So, it's like, let's look at Madonna coming through Leo, her Sun coming through Leo, and say it's in the fifth house. This is just the stage that she's always on. But say we have Madonna, the Sun coming through Leo, in in this, did I say the fifth house before? I meant to. It's in the sixth house. She is more in the gym. She is more, uh, focused on perfection and on how to get herself in tune and how she is specifically received. You see how it's different? Yeah. I'll explain it more as we go along. It'll become more clear in subsequent lessons. So, the actor is the planet. His original personality is the sign. So, we have, let's use Madonna. Madonna is Leo. The way she acts that out will be the Sun, and the specific, the specifics of where she does that in the context of those actions will be the house. So, there are different layers of human experience that we're seeing. And often in astrology, and I consider it lazy astrology, and I'm guilty of this myself in the past, we'll lump together the planet and the house. We'll say, like, give an explanation for either Mars or the first house. They're different things. They're describing action or places of action. So, it's, it's important to make that distinction, which is a Virgo thing. Anybody else have any questions or anything to add about Virgo? No. Would you say that? So, you know, by the time we got to Leo, we've gone through enough of development where we have that kind of original expression of self. It's almost, it's kind of almost like right brain, which you then consider Virgo that needs a senses, that need to classify and organize and find, you know, construct and order. It's very left brain oriented. It's analytical. Yeah. Absolutely. Cerebral, analytical. Uh-huh. Okay. So, shall we move on to, uh, Libra? Talk about Libra? Okay. Yes. Oh, sorry. Do we have a question? No, I'm just happy because I'm a Libra. Oh, okay. I thought I missed somebody here. Um, all right, so Libra, the scales. This is the kidneys and the lower back. So, this is the organic part of the body that's driving the brain because the brain receives all of these organic messages. It receives all of this input from the body, and it's the brain's job to pilot all these needs around and to keep the body alive, to fulfill the needs of these organs. So, the kidneys in the lower back will send their signals to the brain. Um, this is the universal need for relationship, for interaction with others. We have me in Aquarius, I'm sorry, in Aries, and we have you in Libra. So, Libra is how very much how we will socially interact. Venus is a social planet. There's a social component in Taurus, an extremely social component being in an air sign, in the seventh house, and in Libra, representing all of those things. So, the quality of our life experience, the type of life experience, the contents of our life experience, emerge in the sign of Leo at the stage of human development in Leo where we are looking to partner. So, we see the results in the choices that we make, in the people who we attract, and the people that we are attracted to. This is the

Results of everything that has occurred. So, Venus rules Leo. I'm sorry, Libra. It also rules Taurus. They have a lot in common because they're very much Leo. I'm sorry, Libra is very much the consequence of the kinds of input and attention and self-esteem that we got from our parents and from our initial caregivers and the early stage of life. We tend to marry our parents, is what it comes down to.

So, we are looking for the shadow side, others, people who we think have something that we don't. We want something. Our desires are found with Venus. They're sound. They're found with Sagittarius, with Scorpio, two deep desires. So, we want others. We want social interaction. In the sign of Libra, we are bringing ourselves together with another. Pairing, tolerance, the need to extend ourselves, the capacity for tolerance of another. That's a very Libra thing because in order to have relationships, so we have to talk. There's a certain amount of tolerating that will happen in any relationship. Even the best relationship, they're going to tolerate, tolerate a certain amount of who they are or are not. Even our children can love our children to death, but there's certain things about them that we tolerate. So, how are we going to be able to extend ourselves and understand, understand other people? Be a guard of Libra. So, the quality of our relationships, the kinds of relationships are very much dependent upon the ability to know right from wrong, one thing from the other. In that previous stage of Virgo, because again, if we go into those relationships, it's just all acceptance, not seeing the nuances of things. Uh, we're gonna end up with something that we didn't plan to buy. So, it's like, um, we just don't see the, the edges of things if we haven't developed that Virgo capacity. So, we have to know, uh, we have to have some kind of social awareness, I would say romantic awareness that has hopefully been developed, at least for the most part, by the time we get to the stage of Libra.

So, it's cooperation. The opposite side of Aries is decidedly non-cooperative. It's just about what I want in the moment, how I'm going to impossibly assert myself in the moment. But the sign of Libra, there's always this consideration of other, of what do they want? So, it's where we can be selfless. Um, there's more objectivity. Aries is extremely subjective. It's all about me. But we're more looking at ourselves through the lens of others when we're talking about Libra, especially seventh house planets. We can have that flavor too. It could be having experiences of life that are, you know, more about trying to figure out who we are through the context of relationships.

So, um, this is where the day and the night forces are equal. The autumnal equinox. We have as much me as, as much you, as much light as, much dark, as much passive as, aggressive, as much daddy as, mommy, feminine and masculine. So, there's this equilibrium that we're coming to. And that's the scales. How will we achieve balance? How will we balance ourselves with others? Can we have balance? A kind of equilibrium, kind of equality? It's a huge part of Libra. Equality. Are we putting ourselves higher or lower than other? There's a strong comparison. All humans compare, especially these days in the age of the internet, compare, compare, compare. And oftentimes find ourselves coming up short. Um, if we have, you know, a lot of various characteristics or Sagittarius or Leo, sometimes we can feel ourselves coming up very much more. We can have more egotism. It just depends on how our own recipe is arranged.

So, um, it's what brings us together. We, we need to pair with other people. It's a uniquely, well, I wouldn't say uniquely human need, but as a universal human need to pair and to have that sense of, uh, of couplehood. And some of us can have a different definition of couplehood. You can maybe say a lot have a lot of Aquarius or Uranus and aspect to, to Venus, and that could be a little different from us. But the traditional need is that we need to be with somebody. Even if it's a Uranian need, we need to be with somebody. It needs to be some kind of feeling of interaction. Does anybody have any questions or anything to add about Libra observations? Travis, I like Libra a lot. I love having like Libra friends, just because there's always like something to learn. It's always like, I like that kind of like, uh, difference or whatever. But this past like Libra season, I just like was just thinking like philosophically about like what the difference between Aries and Libra is. And like, I think that Aries is the realization of life. Like, I am alive. I'm here. I'm present. I must face life. And then Libra is the realization of death. Like, I will die. I will cease. We're getting Scorpio. I would say that's a Scorpio thing. We're getting popular is death. But I feel like Libra is the realization of death. But you will die. Well, we have my opinion. That's a good opinion. There's a lot to that because though it's leading into what happens in Scorpio, we can't even realize we're gonna die if we don't have a concept of other. Because we see others die. We see others stop living and breathing and ceasing to move. And so we see that, hey, that's probably going to happen to me too. And that does create this death anxiety that we have. The universal need to deal with the sign of Scorpio.

So, Scorpio is that stage of life where we are, uh, we'll talk about this more next lesson, where we are dealing with midlife crisis. This is when we really, really realize our mortality. And it's, uh, serious because death anxiety, the awareness of our death is one of the things that is most unique to human beings. And I, it's Scorpio that gives rise to Sagittarius. It's the realization that I'm gonna die and I don't know what's gonna happen. There's unknowns. Human beings hate the unknown. We will repeat the known, even if it's horrible, just so we could avoid the unknown because it just might be worse. Better the devil you know than the devil you don't know. Absolutely. That's the human adage. So, we deal with the devil in the sign of Scorpio. And we have all of our anxieties, we have ups and downs of crisis contained in that sign. We also have sexuality because this is where we merge. This is where we do the mating dance after marriage, after partnership in the sign of Libra. So, Scorpio, the need to merge in a very physical, very consequential way. So, the merging of our assets as well.

One more point about Libra, really quick. Um, and that also, uh, because it's sort of the scales and that also kind of, it's associated with the law and, um, the devil's advocate. Mm-hmm. Right. Oh, absolutely. Because have you ever heard somebody at a heard of somebody who's strongly Libra at a party? Yeah, they could with one set of friends and they can be hearing what they're saying and they can be nodding in agreement. Yeah, yeah. You know, I can see that. I can see that that would be, I could see your point. And then you can hear them with another set of friends who have a completely different idea and they're saying, yeah, you know, I can see that. I could really see that point. Absolutely. Yeah, because of this ability. So, there's the ability to see the other side. And it's natural going to see the other side. It's not natural to do that if we have planets in Aries. It's only my side that I know. But if we have planets in Libra, they're in the seventh house, depending on the context, our first inclination is, what do they think? What is their opinion? So, if you ever met somebody who is a victim of the last opinion they heard, that's a highly liberal characteristic. And in their, um, personality. So, we want to see the other side. We want to extend ourselves in that particular sign because it's what there is to do. It's what they're, it's, it's polite human behavior, actually. But politeness in the sign of Libra. This is a very recent, refined sign. We like the finer things. I like to say that we have progressions of sugar. And we have Taurus, Libra, and Pisces. We have raw sugar, the big chunks that has molasses in it. It's very natural in the sign of Taurus. And then we have like the bigger chunks, the cane sugar, but it's becoming more refined in the sign of Libra. And then we have like corn syrup in the sign of Pisces. It's the sweetest of all and can even be the most unhealthy. It depends on how much you use it. So, sorry. Um, go ahead. No, you go ahead.

Libra is such a fascinating sign to be, um, as a sun sign. Obviously, the sun is considered to be in fall in Libra because you're trying to form an identity or have a self-expression through the sign of others. It's inherently through the style, looking at what do others think of me? It's also the only sign that's an object. It's not a living creature. Everything else is some kind of animal or person. And Libra, literally enough, it's objective. Objectivity in the sign of Libra. Yeah. I often feel like Libra, you know, because it starts at that descendant point, like in the progression, everything. It's, it's literally like, it's holding everything that has come prior, that is what is our own personal development. And then on the other side, holding everything that is external or othered. And it's such a, it's like the only sign, I guess maybe Pisces on the other end can do it as well because it's gone, it's actually completed that price, that process. And it's funny that Libra and Pisces, how they even face each other, um, on the wheel. Um, they, they kind of have an interesting similar thing. Relationship. Yeah. Right, right. Um, but yeah, it's just, it's like, maybe one of the most unique sun sign expressions because it's towing that line between like, you know, everything that has come before and everything that comes after in this highly, like fundamentally objective way because it is literally, you know, trying to think. Yeah. Wonderful observation. Absolutely. Absolutely. I feel like as a double fire person, I have Sun Aries and Moon in Sag. I feel like with air people, especially Libra and Aquarius around them, you, as an, as an other, are allowed to be yourself. Like they create space to allow others. They don't impose. You know, there's something very just naturally tolerant about people who have like strong air placements like that, especially Libra. You know, like they're just, they don't raise a stink, you know, like if you're different or like, whatever, they just roll with it. And that's something I really enjoy. Yeah. Yeah, that is a quality of Libra, tolerance. Yeah. The ability to allow other people to be as they are because we have, uh, a strong duality that we're dealing with in Aries and Libra. This is me versus you. And, um, when we have somebody who is naturally inclined to see the other side, that can be a real gift. Can also be challenging for them because they can have a harder time making up their own mind or knowing what their own mind is or coming to their own conclusions because we can constantly be referencing, you know, what are other people's opinions? And that's wonderful to know. It's wonderful to know to get input. It will help you make a better decision. But in the end, it has to be our decision. And often with Libra stuff, we want somebody else to make that decision or to tell us what to do. And then it's not our decision at all, is it? So, we have to learn, you know, what is my own mind and be able to act on that. And, um, that is very revealing. That's how we reveal ourselves by acting out what we want. And a lot of times we don't know what we want. It's dependent on others in that sign of Libra. That even worse in Pisces. Oh, yes. I have the moon, I have the moon in Pisces and Mercury in Libra. So, I got a good idea about what I'm talking about here. Yeah. We're all made up of something, aren't we?

Um, okay, so back to Scorpio. This is where we merge. This is where we consummate the relationship that we begin in Libra. So, this is the, the ushering into adulthood in Libra. We make an adult relationship, then we start experiencing adult consequences. So, in Scorpio, it's that universal urge to merge, for depth of relationship, for, uh, sensation, for, uh, often times, depending on how we're dealing with our death anxiety, living on through attachments or securing our place in the world through attachments to others, through attachments to other stuff, through debt. Scorpio is debt, cash, and our assets, and what we have to offer is the opposite of Taurus. But how we leverage our talents and what we have to offer, that is Scorpio. So, this is why Scorpio is also other people's possessions. It's what are we going to attach to in order to enrich ourselves? And that could be a person, that could be their stuff, that could be someone's attributes, it could be someone's beauty, their sexuality, their money. So, the Scorpio is how we deal, the universal need to deal with the fact that we are gonna die. And when that realization comes upon us, most of us don't, unless we have very heavy Pluto or Saturn stuff to personal planets, especially the sun. We don't usually realize that we're gonna die. It's a concept. Aging is also a concept. I find that it's becoming a reality for me. It's no longer a concept. But death is a concept. When we're young, we know we're going to die, but it's not really real to us. This was really bad with me. I really did not realize my own mortality till I was about 25, 26, 27 years old. I really didn't get it. I felt like life was so long and I was going to live forever. And I've got Mars opposite to Jupiter. That's where it's coming from. It was going to go on forever and I was going to survive everything. And then, you know, mid-20s hit and I was like, oh my god, you know, I have a gray hair. I have that open. I had a baby with the moon in Aries. So, I necessarily had a gray hair after that point. Um, yeah, he's a fun one. Moon in Aries children, just an aside. Children are their moon signs before they go into the Leo stage of life. They act out their moon signs. But then when we go into the Leo stage of life, which is more teenage hood, getting out of the wonder years, we start to act like our sun sign because that's when our identity starts to take over. But previous to that, we're more just an extension of our family, our emotional environment. So, when you're looking at kids' charts, always keep that in mind. That, uh, before the tween years, they're gonna be more heavily their moon. So, yeah, my son is much more his Aquarius sun these days, self-employed, only one or two friends, but very, very different as a toddler.

So, uh, Scorpio, where we realized that we're gonna die. This is when early humans looked around and they saw that a human next to them had died. And they didn't have any way to explain it. They didn't understand it. But they pretty much realized that this is probably going to happen to me too. And so we invented rituals, Sagittarius, ways of comforting ourselves, ways of believing, ways of giving meaning to things. And that's very much a consequence of what occurs in Scorpio, which is, I don't know, I don't know what's going to happen. There's mysteries. And I can't allow that. And so I have to fill in the gaps. And so our cultural mythology, our religion, our stories that begin in Cancer, they really solidify to become our moral belief system, how we will comfort ourselves and explain what happens after death. So, our confidence is a Sagittarius thing. It's a universal need to make sense of things, to create a story to things. We have the narrative in Scorpio. So, we have writing in the sign, I'm sorry, in Sagittarius. We have sharing of our information, our story in Sagittarius. And the opposite side of Gemini, we have the writing of that story, the collection of the facts, or that story, the extrapolation of the facts in Sagittarius, where this becomes our narrative. So, like say, in one culture, somebody dies and they have a very unique set of ideas, beliefs, traditions, ideas about what happens to that person. It is how we culturally weave our stories to bring confidence to each other because these are stories that inspire confidence. They make it so we can deal with not knowing, with the process of loss that we find in Scorpio. So, our belief system is very much in service to our fears. When we look at the evolution from Scorpio to Sagittarius, and how we comfort ourselves, what we believe in has a lot to do with needing to fill in the gaps. The less we need to explain it, and we can accept that something's happening, that there are unknowns, the less stories that we will put in service to that end. So, we see things more as they are, starkly. If we aren't filling in with a comforting story.

So, um, the rest of our evolution throughout life is very much dependent on how we deal with our death anxiety because our death anxiety is going to determine the meaning that we give to things in the sign of Sagittarius. If we have to know, we'll find a way to fill in the gaps. Doesn't mean we do know, but it means that we can believe things that can make it so we can quell that anxiety. So, uh, belief is very much tied to fear because fear is the seed of belief when we look from Scorpio to Sagittarius. Does it have, anybody have any questions about that, or comments, or arguments? This is where I usually get pushed back. Are we still, I'm just trying to, uh, pinpoint where we are. We haven't really delved into what Scorpio is fully yet, right? Yeah. It's the need for dealing with our death anxiety. It's the need to deal with mystery. How do we, it's, it's the need to merge. And it's usually a result of feeling a certain amount of anxiety. And would you, I'm sorry, would you say that Scorpios deal with death or like they experience it more frequently than like other signs as far as like loved ones? Because I remember dating a Scorpio and I know it's like this is an isolated event, it doesn't apply to everyone, but I just remember constantly going to like funeral after funeral with her for like people that she has known to pass away. So, I just wondered if there was a correlation between Scorpios and death. Obviously, it's, it's so. Well, there is because a lot of the, it's a good question, a lot of the personality and the identity and identity will be shaped by things related to death, fear, anxiety, loss. So, loss can be a big part of how we form our identity and what we believe about ourselves. So, I wouldn't say that Scorpio has experienced statistically more death, or astrology would have been statistically proved as a scientific fact a long time ago. You know, if all Scorpios, you know, had 20, 25 more dead people around them, you know, prove it. I think maybe symbolically, it's transformation. That's a big part of it. It's a big part of it. It's how are you gonna deal with these losses? Are you gonna transform out of the grief and the anxiety and come to a different view? Or are you gonna go down with the ship? So, it's how we deal with our problems. It's our addictions as well. What hap, what's the monkey on our back? Because it's the seeking force, sensation. All humans have a seeking force, sensation. We have this need for intensity. And that's what we get in Scorpio. So, it's interesting that we seek what Scorpio is intensely, but it's also what scares us the most and what we say we don't want. I feel like Scorpio, hold on, Travis, elimination. Like it doesn't want to be found out. There's something about Scorpio that wants to remain hidden. And that's, it's like it's covert. It's like a penetrability to it. Like a double fire here. When my best friend growing up was, like, almost all Scorpio, and it's like, as I was learning astrology, I'm like, dude, you have so much in Scorpio. Like, you're really intense and like, you have all these like drives, blah, blah, blah. It was like, freaked him out, you know, like it bothered him quite a bit. I'm like, as a fire person, like, I want to reveal myself. I want to be known. I want to be seen. Yeah, there. Yeah, that's something I've had to learn as a fire person as like, you Scorpio, their space. Don't dig. Don't let, don't pull them out of their desks. That's where they want to be. That's where they want to be comfortable, you know? So, I like it though. Very much like bringing a cat home, and it will freak out and want to hide somewhere. Do not try to help the cat by pulling it out of its hiding place. It will create more anxiety and you'll probably get injured in the process. So, they have to be, Scorpio is what's in our vault. You have to look at the birth chart as a building. There's different levels. Scorpio is the basement. Is that maybe why that sign has like the worst reputation? Because it represents what people are scared of? Oh, absolutely. And most magnetized towards. Absolutely. Any video I put out on YouTube that has even a keyword or something to do with Pluto or Scorpio will get so many more views than any other video I put out there because there's just something fascinating, serious, worthy. Absolutely. It's the taboo. It's the taboo. It's all the unwritten desires and rules and human activity that creates the laws, the need for the laws that we create in Sagittarius. And Pluto rules the genitals, right? It does. That's where we do it. Yes. Scorpio, because that's where we, we consummate the marriage, the partnership that we come to in Libra. That is our deepest way of penetrating another person. That human need to be penetrated on the deepest level, to be known, to merge. That process of having sex with somebody to mean that you are completely physically merged. And if you like that, I have Sun and Venus and Scorpio saying like, I cannot get close enough. No matter how hard I try, like physically, you just, you cannot reach the depth that you want to ever. It's so frustrating. And I knew for a Scorpio the second you came up on the screen, so did I. Yeah, yeah. They usually do have a look about them. All the, the archetypes have a look about them. Absolutely. Because they have substance. There's like grit. You know, you can really like sink your teeth into the Scorpio. There's just business. I love the complexity. Think about the basement. The basement is the deepest part of the building. And this is potentially where we gather up all of our stuff that we don't want. We don't want to see it, but we don't necessarily want to get rid of it, or we can't get rid of it. This is the where we deposit all the stuff that we just probably have, but don't think we want, or maybe think that's not mine, and I'll just leave it down there until the owner comes along and I'll give it to them. It's ours anyway. So, we put all of this in the basement. We lock the door. And there's only one light in there. It's one of those hanging scary lights they use in police movies. So, you go in there once in a while. When you have Nick's son in the eighth house, so every once in a while, we have to go down there because we're triggered or to find something out or we have a problem and we have to find the source. And we stay down there all the time, just like waiting for others to come in. Some people can't, because some people are okay with their basement stuff. They know it's their treasure. Because think about when something gets buried. Things are underground with Scorpio. We bury things underground. And then when we dig it up, it's worth something. So, the things that we are running from, that we're judging, that we're putting in our basement, that we're trying to forget, that we're repressing, we're keeping them down in there because it takes a certain amount of psychic energy to keep things down under the ground. We have to assert a certain amount of our vitality in order to keep things under wraps. When we become okay with those things, when we aren't afraid of those things anymore, it's just easy. We don't have to assert any more energy. So, we don't know, like, once we know our flaws, no one can use them against us. Absolutely. Absolutely. Absolutely. I had a real-life experience with this a few months ago. I had, um, uh, you know, somebody who was threatening to expose me, they're to expose all of the things about me that was going to make me, you know, there's going to ruin my reputation. And what they were threatening to expose was my humanity, you know, my, my, these are natural things about me, my imperfections. And I was like, yeah, go ahead. It's what it is to be known. I don't have anything to be afraid of here. I don't have to be perfect. And so that takes away all the power if you just accept it and you're okay with it and you're not afraid of the consequences. Just as what it is. We are what we are. Jewel, uh, it's a Kenya. Oh, okay. I see. Um, I've, I've wondered this about you for a while because, um, a lot of your content is very heavily Plutonian. And, you know, I'm a very Plutonian person myself. And so I, I wondered, are you highly Plutonian? What is it? Because I don't get that vibe from you at all. I'm like, why, like, why is so much of your content and so much of what you explore astrologically, at least in the public sphere, dealing with that? It's always fascinated me. Um, I think because I'm fascinated by things that are fascinating myself. And I don't have a lot of Pluto. The only thing I, I don't have anything in the eighth house except I don't have anything in Scorpio. All I have included, textile to Venus, it's a very minor thing. But what I do have is the eighth house ruler, Mars in the first house. That's when you're Ascendant, right? That's right. I have the contents of the eighth house coming through the personality, first house. Yeah, that's where it picks up. And in Virgo. So, you're dissimilar and Virgo. So, it's the analysis of that. Do you see? Is the picking of the parts of it? How to tell one thing from the other and organize that information? That's very good. I have Sun and Pluto, a very close conjunction in Scorpio. Oh, boy. So, you know all about the death anxiety. I have, uh, Mars and Saturn in the eighth house. I'm sorry. That's the worst. I'll help you with that as we go along. Little gems to offer you. Pluto aspects like everything in my chart. Oh, my goodness. Everything. Okay. Conjunct Venus, Mercury. It's just, it's everything. It's everywhere. Only only have Mercury square Pluto and Pluto. Yes. Oh, I mean, I know, I know, I know. It's still big. But not, I guess it's not too many Pluto aspects. I don't have a lot of Pluto hard questions. My dear. Yeah, that's a good one. Um, I'll do a video about that one pretty soon, actually. So, I have, um, Scorpio's Sun, Leo Ascendant, Aquarius Moon. So, it's really like a battle inside my mind. Well, hodgepodge all the time. Yeah. But I have very few aspects to Pluto. Nothing in the eighth house. But I'm upset with death, everything to do with it. But that makes sense though. The Leo Ascendant because the chart ruler is coming through Scorpio. Actually, you could, you, you appear very Scorpionic as well. I have Mars in the first house. [Music] What about that one? Yeah. We all have our unique combos. I think it's so much fun to discuss them because it, it makes it, you know, practically understandable how this stuff shows up in people's personalities. It's really real. What's going on here? Yeah. I have all water. Sun Scorpio, Moon Pisces, Cancer Rising. Cancer Rising, Pisces Midheaven. And I'm like all fire. And I'm just drowning all the time. Oh, so that's steam. Yeah. Fire and water makes steam. Ah, it's hard. That's an interesting combo. All right. So, moving on to, um, do you think we've exhausted, uh, Scorpio and Sagittarius?

Sagittarius is the sign of the archer, the the archer, the centaur, as well as wild horse man. Because Sagittarius is where we want to see over the horizon. We want to know what's next. We're curious. Our curiosity is huge. It starts in Gemini. We're curious, you know, about things that are local. And then we want to see what is more. And it, um, physically rules the hips and thighs. It's where we, we, we're able to pivot in order to see around us. The hips. We can get a broader view. You mean when you're standing on a mountain, you don't just turn your head and turn your whole body to get a whole panoramic view? So, yeah, the, the hips, the upper thighs. Um, what it is that powers us up a mountain? The thighs, right? Or but to some degree, but that's Scorpio. That's what makes us want to go up the mountain in the first place, is to see what might be on the other side. So, those are our most muscular muscles, is the butt and the upper thighs. That creates a lot of movement within our lives. Yeah. And Sad ruling Jupiter, does that make a person like bigger, more on a bigger like larger side archetypally? It has that association, yes. Appetite for life, appetite for food, bigger itself, especially if Jupiter is in a fire sign or in Sagittarius in relation to the Ascendant or on the Ascendant. Um, yeah, we're, we're going to show up more as larger than life in that respect. Um, also Jupiter on the, uh, Ascendant can make it, you know, just a word warmer, lots of humor, people want to be around us when we have Jupiter on the Ascendant. Where the Midheaven, we can be known for those things. Yes, very marketable. When we have Jupiter on the Midheaven, absolutely. Everybody wants to hire us and pay us lots of money. Yeah. Good things. Good reputation. Um, okay, I'm sorry. My partner has, uh, Jupiter on the Ascendant. And one of the things that really drew me to him is he had this laugh, this kind of like hearty belly laugh. I'm just like, that's the one. That I love. I know it well. I love people at Jupiter on the Ascendant because it's just like, you're in the presence of a warm hug. And they're hedonistic and fun. And they'll cook for you. So, good things there. Yes. Travis knows.

Okay, looking at Capricorn. This is the universal need to establish ourselves, to be something, to show up in our community as a viable influence. So, it's what we grow up to become is in Capricorn. The Midheaven is contained within the tenth house and naturally within Capricorn rules the Midheaven archetypally. You may have a different ruler in your chart, but the Midheaven has the meaning of Capricorn, which is our ascent to the top. This is the goat. If you're seeing that, uh, YouTube video about the ibex who was cr, climbing the dam, it's like almost a vertical surface and this goat type of goat is getting to this, the top is incredible. You should watch it. It scares the crap out of me. But it's the sure-footedness of that rise, of knowing where I'm going. And that could be frustrated if we have, you know, difficult aspects in our chart. We may not know where we're going or be able to get to the top because we could feel that judgment, circumstances, uh, things that are external to us because that's Capricorn, very much how we deal with the circumstances in the external environment on our way to become something. So, the universal need to be a viable adult, to gain respect, to achieve our social security. Social security is a Capricorn thing. Because if we've made ourselves valuable, if we have become an important member of the group, with the community, we can rely on that structure. It creates the sense of stability. So, the, uh, the capacity to express ourselves in more broad, worldly, or cultural terms. Do we just grow up to be what we think we should be? That's one potential in Capricorn. Or do we grow up to allow our solar power to shine through that unique need to be ourselves that we developed in Leo? Are we going to be able to allow that to be what we grow up to be? So, we become responsible. This universal need for taking responsibility for our lives, for becoming a responsible adult. And, uh, to structure our own life, to create a plan. Now, we'll talk more extensively about the two sides of Capricorn because sometimes they may not be living out our own plan. And that's when we need to really shatter that self-image that we have of ourselves or that we're living up to that may not be an image of our own creation. Because at seven years old, Saturn squares its natal position. Every seven years, Saturn will square itself. So, at about seven years old, we looked up and we said, I will be that. I will become that one day. Saturn is the Capricorn is the ideal image that we hold of ourselves, the bar, what we say we want to be. And then the bar that we will judge ourselves against if we aren't that. And that bar is very much based on outside, external, parental judgments and influences, what was in our lives before seven years old.

So, um, when I was growing up, I wanted to be a Las Vegas showgirl. That was my most incredible dream. Someday I was gonna make it to Vegas. I was gonna be a showgirl. And I've been able to, you know, not hold myself to that standard over time. I've been able to grow out of that and to realize that it could be any number of things. I wanted to be a veterinarian. I wanted to be Wonder Woman. There was all kinds of different things that I went through. And then as a teenager, um, you develop more of that sense of self. So, if we are holding ourselves in relationship or in, uh, comparison to that idea we have of ourselves, oftentimes we're going to come up short. Which would be the hard aspects between Saturn and the Midheaven. There's Saturn in personal planets and the ruler of the Midheaven to personal planets. So, we want to grow up to be something, but we want it to be of our own choosing and our own making. And Capricorn is that need to, socially, uh, belong. And so if that's where we're going to get our security through social belonging, we may have to give up a lot for that. So, we have to find a way to be ourselves and still be able to be included or a member of the group because we're social animals. We need each other. So, um, securing our place in the world, that's the universal need that we all have in Capricorn. And it rules the structure of the body, the bones. Capricorn is the framing in a building, like the steel framing or the wooden framing that everything else goes on and in between and into. Isn't it the skin as well? It is. There's some debate about that in astrology. I myself classify it as ruling the skin. Some astrologers classify Aquarius as ruling the skin, but I see it as Capricorn because Capricorn is the boundary. It's the frame. It's the pot for the bonsai. It's, it's what is contained within. So, when you draw a picture, we always, you know, put it in, not always, but we put it in a frame. We put in some kind of definition. So, it's the definition that we, it's the distinction that we ultimately achieve. It's how we are distinguished. Think about the sign of Capricorn. It's like, uh, CEOs and distinguished people and the ruling class and the powers that be and the authority figures, those who have grown up to make themselves distinct. So, there's, I, I say, what is the word? There's a, um, a collective social acceptance that is a part of Capricorn. And that leads us into the next stage of Aquarius, where we can have that, um, you know, what we become, either completely hinder our ability to really know ourselves or to grow or be free, or we can shatter that with that, uh, Aquarian stage of realization. Does anybody have any questions about, comments about Capricorn observations? My brother is a Capricorn. My brother's a Capricorn and I have a best friend who's a Capricorn. And my brother is a quintessential Capricorn because he's first deacon Capricorn, so he's kind of Capricorn. Um, but he deals with, he has carpal tunnel from, um, like in his wrist. And I'm one, I'm, I'm wondering if that has a correlation. Meaning, you know, stiffness of designs? Yes, absolutely. Stiffness of all kinds. Capricorn is a stiff character. Saturn, especially if we have Saturn ruling the sixth. There's Saturn in aspect to personal planets. That's where we will become stiff. We, we can become, um, concrete. Saturn is the concrete that we use. It, it represents that bones, hard things, concrete, the structure of things. So, yes, we can see arthritis, we can see immobilizing conditions, particularly if we have Mars or the Ascendant ruler in aspect to Saturn or the ruler of the 10th house in your particular chart. So, yes. Is a problem. Sometimes, like, it has a reputation of like, maybe a boring sign. But I've also heard that Capricorns in some ways are repressed Scorpios. Hmm. That's interesting. They have, uh, something in common because they have a lineage. There's two, there's two gods, uh, I think how we deal or don't deal with our anxiety and the unknowns. And Scorpio has a lot to do with who we become, who we concretize into. And Capricorn, absolutely. So, if we haven't, uh, you know, dealt with those anxieties, then we tend to go in the direction of finding something outside of ourselves to provide structure and safety in our lives. So, looking at external environments, looking to, to people, authority figures, jobs, roles to provide that safety and security for us. So, we are living a series of roles rather than living at our true fiery nature, if we've aired on the difficult side of Scorpio and then consequently on the difficult side of Sagittarius. And, uh, will probably be outsourcing most of what we believe about the world if we get when we get to that stage of Capricorn because we'll see ourselves as being ruled by something or being, you know, paying for something. We find incredible guilt in Sagittarius. We find a lot of guilt in Capricorn. We find a lot of guilt in Pisces as well. Different types of guilt. So, we want to toe the line in Capricorn until we take total responsibility for our lives and for ourselves. We'll talk more about that in the next lesson about the human stages of evolution, how that really helps us shatter that shell, the realizations that we have in Aquarius, how we free ourselves, how we, uh, shatter the mold, um, because Aquarius is that universal need for enlightenment, for freedom, for liberation. We all have this need to be free and to experience progress. Capricorn hates progress. We want things to be the status quo, the way they are, traditional, everything in its place. Aquarius is all about progress. So, in my life, who have a lot of Capricorn placements, if I had to describe them, they would be unapologetically conventional. That's, that's a good combination of words, my dear. That, that can be a big part of things. Yeah. And we can have parts of that in people's personality, and then other parts, they can be very unconventional. We can have surprising combinations. Um, but yeah, it, it, the, the traditional side of it, uh, often, the non-evolved side of Capricorn is to remain the same, to always refer back to the past. And we see that, um, in this, this, uh, the current state of life, if humanity right now, we can understand very socially, um, beginning in the 60s, we had the conjunction of Pluto and Uranus, which started off the civil rights movement. It's actually the year that we had civil rights actually come into law. It started all this tension between the past and the future, between tradition and inevitable progress. And so, and in the mid-60s, it opposed Saturn, appropriately. That conjunct meant to help it. Yes, but the beginning of the, the cycle itself, it was Uranus and Pluto. But yeah, there were things going on that were very explosive that particular decade. In addition to that, but Uranus and Pluto, I'm sorry, Uranus and, yeah, Uranus and Pluto. Sorry, it wasn't Saturn. I apologize. I'm getting tired, guys. Get a little worn out here. You'll figure that out about me after about the third hour. I start to wear out a little. Um, we started off the cycle of Pluto, which is keeping everything in its place. And the emphasis of fear and discrimination, the taboo, that all of our laws are actually in consequence to the real desires a human has in Pluto and Scorpio at that meeting with Uranus, which let loose this whole, um, idea of what can be newness, freedom. Now, a few years ago, we had the square between Pluto and Uranus, where we had this tension. We had the Arab Spring. We had a lot of countries pushing for more freedom. The Occupy movement. Yes, that was at that time as well. Yes. So, there's a lot of explosion of political, um, power at that point. Um, because we always have that tension between Saturn and Uranus, between Pluto and Uranus, between the past and the future. The thing is, Uranus will always win when it comes to, and Pluto will all win. Between like, I was just thinking about that in, in terms of what Travis said about being, you know, unapologetically conventional. So, like, I have a Capricorn Ascendant, but I have Saturn in Aquarius. And, okay, I also, I'm the generation with the Uranus, Neptune conjunction in Capricorn, which happens to be right on my Ascendant. So, I'm constantly dealing with how I'm trying to set up security and stability, especially in terms of longevity, but like challenging it. It's like, it's a loop. Well, because you have that transpersonal combination right on a traditional Ascendant. I mean, what do you do with that? That's like oil and water. So, yeah, you, I'm giving a webinar, um, next month on that conjunction of Uranus and Neptune together. Is that what you said you had? Yeah, you're in Neptune. Yeah. But we'll be talking about that in detail, how that brings this transpersonalization and this social justice vibe to people's personality. Yeah. So, yeah, that makes for a pretty interesting cocktail. I think that your, your video on the great conjunction that just happened in Capricorn, you hit the ball out of the park. Like, it was prophetic because you're talking about, I'm not even joking, like, you, I need to check that out. I haven't seen it. Oh, good. Because you basically said what was gonna happen, like with a pandemic, and like, if you're gonna ignore the problem, there's gonna be consequences, and things like that. It's like, that's exactly what happened. You know, I just feel like Capricorn is this karmic sign. Like, there's just this kind of like ruthlessness. It's this like stick, and if you pull it, it's gonna whack you. And I feel like that definitely pattern is absolutely karmic planet, lots of times too. Yes. We always associate it with karma because it's what we deserve. Saturn is what we grow up to, what we feel we deserve. Ultimately, deserving is a part of all the earth signs and eventually come to Capricorn. It's like, I will only accept what I deserve, or I will, you know, take what I think I deserve, or however it is that we approach that. It also makes sense as a response of, you know, that opposing access. What I was getting at earlier with the moon having that kind of ancestral memory. There's an inherited karmic element, your family karma that comes along with Cancerian energy. And then, you know, Saturnian energy, it's, yeah, yeah, absolutely. Uh, how it shows up socially and, yeah, absolutely.

Um, so, uh, the, uh, sign of Aquarius, where we have revolution, the need for revolution, the need for, uh, for progress, for change. Change is usually pretty upsetting. Humans don't like change. We want things to be the same because we know what's there, what's happening. And you see that in this current area of life where we had the Pluto, Uranus square. And we have right now this very definitive war between tradition and progress. And we have a lot of people that do want to return to like the 1950s, where that was the era of life, where looking back, that was our golden age, that was our Saturn age. That

was our Capricorn age, our yes, golden age where things were, everything was in its place. We had segregation, so we didn't have the scary mixing. Nobody was allowed to be gay. Things were the way they should be. They're categorized in a way that everything was known. We can see it, and it wasn't uranium.

Uranus is so scary to humans because it does mean we're going into unknown territory here. Once we break a law, break a boundary, anything can happen. So Capricorn is what is precedented. Aquarius is what is not precedented. It's unprecedented. We haven't seen it before. So that's why it's science, it's breakthroughs, it's invention. It is the universal need to invent. Necessity is the mother of invention. Necessity is Capricorn.

I think it's so interesting how, like, they were both, uh, at one time ruled by Saturn, and they seemed so different. Because the, how I see that, how I understand that myself, is that humans have evolved. And when we evolve enough, a new symbol is found. We recognize a new symbol, and we're due for another one too, by the way. I do think that we're going to find another planet, and it's not going to be that far off because we are in need of a new symbol going into the new Age of Aquarius.

So, which we're already on. We're in the seed period of the Age of Aquarius. We're transitioning out of Pisces and going into Aquarius. So when we came into, you know, the Iranian stage of thinking, we discovered Uranus. And we came into the Neptunian concepts of thinking of life, we discovered Neptune. Pluto, that was the atomic age. That we discovered that right when we were discovering atomic energy and the consequences of it. And, uh, coming to that place where most, in my opinion, this is in the, this is in the realm of opinion, so take it with a grain of salt. All civilizations throughout the universe, which is likely that there are other beings of some kind, just given how large the universe is, that, um, what was my larger point? Hold on. I was gonna find a way to why Saturn is no longer the ruler of Aquarius, of Aquarius, right?

So, just an aside, you'll learn this about me. Once in a while, when I'm talking, I just completely forget what I'm talking about mid-word, and it is so embarrassing. And sometimes I'll try to cover for it, but usually I just admit it and I'm like, I just don't know what I was talking about, and somebody will have to remind me. So, mark your way with Mars, your thoughts move too fast. And we have, um, yes, the old symbols, and then the need for the new symbol comes in. And that new symbol rules the new, you know, evolution stage of life. So they are different, but, just like, uh, Scorpio and Mars, Mars originally ruled Scorpio. They also have something weirdly in common, just as Capricorn and Uranus do. So there's that.

Uh, yeah, that need to take absolute responsibility for our lives through being a free person in Aquarius, through living as, as a free human being where we realize that we're part of society and we need society. And our individuality is a product of our society, but we learn to work with it. We learn to work with others as cooperative. So we have the opposite side of Leo, which is about me, the individual. And we have Aquarius, which is, how am I a product of the society and the collective? And how does my individuality affect that society and that collective? It's very interesting that Uranus is on the descendant of the United States birth chart, isn't it? Yeah, it's our shadow side. That's what everybody wants. Everybody loves our individuality. We've kind of gone off the rails about it because we haven't balanced it with the need for healthy collective society. It's been all about the individual, but that happens within a society. It's a balance. So the one is always a consequence of the other. Um, so our social expression, our individual expression is Leo. Our social expression is Aquarius.

Does anybody have any observations or, uh, ideas about Aquarius? Questions? I feel like Aquarius is like, I know you're saying it's our social expression, but I always think about Aquarius has that individuality within the context of a collective. Exactly. Yes. And so, like, there is still an individualistic impulse, but it, the ramifications of it are more obvious because we're, we can't avoid the larger societal impact context, right? Exactly. But we, we're not thinking like that with Leo. That's why I think of Leo as that first stage of individuation. We can actually have it at Aquarius because we understand enough about the larger scope of the world. Yeah, exactly. Exactly. It's actually, sorry, Travis, go ahead. I feel like Leo is saying, like, this is who I am. And Aquarius is saying, I'm not that. This is who I'm not. Like, there's a contrarian thing to Aquarius. It's about totally. Oh, contrarian. God, yes. Um, because you can't put any, uh, pr, put any pressure on that sign, or they'll go the opposite way. Yeah. Um, we have to use a lot of reverse psychology with that, with signs that are necessarily rebellious. So, yeah, there's this need to really, to be, to be applauded in, in Leo, but this identification of, um, I'm the outsider. The kind of applause I receive is, uh, related to me not being accepted. That could be a lot of the Aquarian thing. Is, you know, I identify with not meeting others, or I identify as, um, you know, something that's above or aloof or separate. So there could be a specialness there that we can err on. Or we can come to realize that is a trick of the ego. To be the most special one is a trick of the ego. And to be able to meld into the crowd and to have that sense of equality, that's actually the more, the evolved side of Aquarius. But at the same time, that we are able to merge with others and to cooperate with others, we do not lose our individuality. And just don't identify as only that. Do you see? It's a part of us. And like the highest form of that Aquarian energy is to want the same freedom of individual expression for everyone. Yeah, it's where we share. Where we can ultimately share. This is our humanitarianism in Aquarius. Our ability to build a network, to cooperate. So this is why we talk about going into the Age of Aquarius is our, our new golden age where we have peace, we have equality, we have sharing. It's not a hierarchical, hierarchical society.

I feel like I have to disagree with, like, the humanitarian aspect of Aquarius. Like, my experience of Aquarius is that there's a kind of inhumaneness to it. Like, there can be a psychopathic, there's a ruthlessness that's carried over from Capricorn. Like, I think that that's that Saturn connection of like, "can justify the means?" Yeah, kind of like, whatever you need to do to survive. Like, absolutely. There's two people, you know, we can be so convinced of our rightness and be so self-righteous that we are unreachable. That's the Aquarian. And you can see this a lot in political movements who really do believe in their kindness and their bestness and their, their most, their most woke-ish concepts, but they are not tolerant of people who don't share those same concepts. That's how that intolerant side of Aquarius works. That's the ego masquerading as, "I am the most humanitarian." You see? But the ability to allow other people's opinions to exist is what it is to be truly humanitarian. So if you don't believe in freedom of speech for the people that you despise, you don't believe in freedom of speech. That's why I said that, like, higher, the, the highest, most evolved point of Aquarian realization is when that individual expression is extended, the want for it is extended to, uh, to everybody. It's no longer selfish. I just think that people, they give Aquarius too much empathy. They give it too much, like, you know, Aquarius doesn't care. Like, there's space and like room to breathe and like tolerance, but it's not out of like a touchy-feely Piscean kind of like. That's true. That's true. It's like the guru that you go to, and you are crying and manipulating with your feelings and wanting all kinds of things out of this guru, and he just doesn't give it to you. And then you end up not liking him. Just because something isn't emotional in the watery sense of being emotional, though, doesn't mean there's not concern or care. Sure. Sure. Well, yeah, because, well, Aquarius is very cerebral. It's being pulled out. It is not subjective. It is not emotional. It's like seeing everything from the outside. So it's very much a map. Let's use the example of an astrology chart. It's looking at things completely objectively as a system of symbols. Now, I agree with it. I agree with you, Kenya, and in a way, like, taking that emotionality out of it almost makes it more authentic because it's, you know, you're looking at people's needs for space and like freedom from a more objective point of view and realizing like what needs to happen. I just, I just feel like Aquarius, just as a sign in general, is just misunderstood. Not in the fact that people, you know, everybody knows it's like the rebel or whatever, but I just think that people attribute, in general, like, just in pop astrology, a lot of things to it that I've not seen in my own experience of people who have stronger Aquarius placements. So I'm just, well, they could be airing on the non-involved side, which is common. Very common. I mean, to come to a place where we're not teachable, that's like, that's like the contrarian, just disagreeing to disagree. Yeah, because that's right. Uranian energy in general, as a higher octave of Mercury, can become unteachable. Yes, especially when we have hard aspects between Mercury and Uranus, we can be brilliant, or we can be not, uh, not porous enough in order to receive new information. Yes, that's the, the side of Aquarius. We come to or not, is where we are impenetrable. We've decided that we have evolved to the point of all involvement and we're not teachable. Or we are completely teachable. And you'll see that in, in the personalities of like people who are highly ingenious, that have, that are innovating. They walk into the room and they want to know what others think. They do not suffer from a Dunning-Kruger effect of thinking they're the smartest person in the room. The dumbest person in the room is the one who comes in the room and doesn't want to hear what anybody else thinks because they already know they are not teachable. We have to be open to more. And that means we can't be looking at everything through the lens of being right. We're always right. If we are on the default side, the devolved side of Aquarius, we know best. We're the most moral. But we're not really humanitarian because it's all about what we think. So a lot of people fall on the devolved side of Capricorn. Oh, all the social signs, a lot of them. And then there's others that are truly, truly interested in liberating others and having other people have the same rights and opportunities as they do. It really is something that they hold for.

There's an interesting kind of, um, dilemma with, and kind of like what you were talking about with free speech, um, and and the questions of where to limit it. Because yes, to some extent, everybody should have free speech because, you know, if one person's free speech is limited, then everybody is. But then you get to the extreme, uh, side of that where, um, for example, letting, uh, groups express their views where it becomes the potential of shouting fire in a crowded room, and some people end up being hurt. Which is where we come into the nuances of what it is to behave socially with each other. These are hard questions. And often times, in order to gain on one side, we're going to have to give something up on the other. So, yeah, I don't know the answer exactly to how we balance that. I think it comes in having a society that is so dealing with their death anxiety and the unknowns and their own humanitarian failings in such a way that they aren't using the law, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Uranus, in order to legislate against those fears. When we have a society that is taking responsibility for their own life, an Aquarian society, then the people, the crazies, the people who could potentially have the influence to have us all jump off a cliff, we'll listen to them. When we have a sick society, those are the people who end up as our politicians and our leaders. So I think that we need to really work on the individual. We need to really work on why, because societies are made up of individuals. We need to look at how can society serve the individuals so they can find a way to feel connected and secure and like they want to be a part, they want to be part of this group because this is a good group. And I think that that's where it starts. Is because legislating against, God, that's a can of worms. It's more like you have to start, it's going to take time. Start the foundation of why do we have a society that even allows these psychopaths to have as much influence as they do. Yeah, I think that's the only way that we can address it.

Okay guys, can we move on to Pisces? Do you feel like we're ready, or do we have another question? Okay, sorry, can I, can I, uh, give one example of, uh, I guess, a highly evolved Aquarius? Yes, I'd love it. So I got to work with Nolan Bushnell, who, um, basically invented the game industry. He made Atari, he made Chuck E. Cheese. So he's been working in the game industry longer than anyone in the world. Um, I was in a meeting with him to design the game, and the first thing he asked me is like, "What would you do? What would you want to do? And what would you do with this company?" And so he gave me like full reign to do whatever I wanted. And he doesn't have to do that. Like, he knows more than anyone, and he has more money than anyone. But he was like, just so open with his influence. And I was just blown away by that. So that's a true innovator. That is somebody who's truly interested in what it takes to be innovative. They're always open. And in fact, you know, you deal with people with very innovative, exciting, um, those types of entrepreneurial, um, aspects of their personality, oftentimes they don't even share their opinion until the end. Somebody who's highly Sagittarian, Capricornian, Mercurial, Scorpionic, they tend to share their opinion right up front. But when we hold back, it allows for everybody else to feel like they really can share and express themselves in a way that's not conforming to what we ourselves think. So it allows for a variety of opinions. When we do let people have free reign, it allows creativity. And that's what you see in, in companies like Microsoft, in, in Tesla, and SpaceX. People that have that innovative way of running their companies, of thinking, of doing, is there is a great deal of group effort. They want people's input, and they aren't trying to keep that out of the loop because it might create change. They are looking to create change. So we have to allow other people to be themselves. And it sounds like you've hooked up with somebody whose vibe has attracted their tribe, attracted their tribe, because you have a lot in common with that person. I think. Yeah. All right.

So, should we move on to Pisces and talk about Pisces here? So Pisces, the universal need for, uh, connection, for, um, belonging to the greater group. This is where we house the collective unconscious. This is where everything comes out of. In the sign of Aries, it's where it emanates from. So it's where everything is one. Where we've come to, you know, experience that element of, or that side of Aquarius, where we've broken through, we've achieved insights, we've, uh, shattered our fears, our ways that we've not taken responsibility for our lives. And that creates this clarity that we can come to in Pisces. We can come to know things as they actually are, not things just through the lens of who we are or who we think we are. So we can have incredible confusion in the sign of Pisces. We can have incredible clarity in the sign of Pisces. So it's that universal need to, um, for universal oneness, for oneness, or for, uh, spirituality. Humans have a spiritual component. The religious component is Sagittarius, but what is most common to all of us, in fact, is compassion. The feeling of compassion makes us so human. And how we look at our compassion, how we distribute our compassion. Do we have compassion for ourselves? Is it only for others? Our type of compassion is found with aspects to Neptune, planets in Pisces, as well. So how we will, um, how we will come to understand ourselves as a universal being, how we fit in to the whole cycle of things. Our need for, our need for spirit, for spirituality, for knowing the big picture, seeing the big picture, solving mystery. Our need, we're being drawn to the things of Pisces because we don't know. We want to know. We have that experience in Scorpio as well. We don't know, but often we fill in the gaps with what we're afraid of. In Pisces, there's an openness to all kinds of influences. So there's an emerging with something larger than ourselves. This is why we find death. We find death in Scorpio, the fear of it. We find death, but the understanding of it. We have a deeper relationship with death and endings in Pisces. So there's a, um, I have a quote here about that. Let me see if I can pull that up. Can I find that? Uh, Carl Jung. I found this quote earlier today. I thought this was very appropriate for Pisces. So he's putting it like, Pisces is the medium through which religious experiences seem to flow. As to what further cause of such experiences may be, this answer lies beyond the range of human knowledge. Knowledge of God is a transcendental problem. And that's what we see in Pisces. We want to transcend things that are transcendental. They're transpersonal. They are totally common to all of us. So that experience of compassion, of, of not knowing anything outside of our humanity, that is common to all of us. And, um, we want to, you know, have visions of, of being saved, or of a savior, or of ourselves as a savior. In, in Pisces, we're looking for some kind of saving grace. But if we've really taken responsibility for our life in the sign of Capricorn, and we aren't telling ourselves stories because we're afraid, the sign of Sagittarius, we really made some breakthroughs and found out some disturbing truths about ourselves, and the sign of Aquarius, then we may just know the truth. We may just be able to live with uncertainty. We may be able to acknowledge that we can't know it all, but yet we can probably have a pretty meaningful life.

So I've heard it said, sorry, I've heard it said that Pisces is, in a way, so compassionate because they've lived through all the incarnations of all the other signs. It is the mix of all the signs. Yes, it is the, what all the signs add up to. And we can either have, again, that experience of ultimate clarity, and we can see what's behind the fog, or what's behind the mirror. Or we can just be mesmerized by the fog, or by our projections onto that fog, or into that mirror. And that's what we think really all there is. So there's this, this truth, this ultimate truth that we can't know any more than we can know. We just can't know. And if we say we do, then we're really, we're living in the realm of illusion. Because knowing is a way to provide security for ourselves. And we're living by the seat of our pants in Aquarius. And in Pisces, we come to see that life isn't about giving comforting meanings to things. It's not about the definitions we give to things so we can avoid anxiety. Life's about living by the seat of our pants and discovering things as they actually are. And that isn't going to be through the subjective lens of our identity or the self. So it's the ability to see things devoid of egoic agenda.

Anybody have any thoughts or pushback on that? No, I think that that's really profound. Um, Pisces is just a can of worms of a sign for me. Venus in Pisces, and I totally get that kind of dichotomy between, like, clarity and understanding and like illusion, you know, especially in love. Um, so easy to fool myself and just kind of fall head over heels for something like transcendent or whatever, whether it's an idea or a person or something like that. And it's, I think that you're right that it comes down to just seeing things as they actually are, you know? And that takes a certain amount of honesty, you know? Like, it's so, so insightful. There. Absolutely. Yeah, we have to be willing to see things as they are. And, um, a lot of times that's upsetting because it isn't upholding our idea of ourself. It doesn't fit into our paradigm. It isn't what we want to know or see or believe. It's just is what it is. And we can't adjust the facts to ourselves as we so often want to do. We want to reconcile life to us. And we have to reconcile ourselves to life. Is how it happens. We have to reconcile ourselves with reality. If we expect reality to conform to who we are and what we want, we will be [Music] miserable. We will be angry. We will not understand why life is doing this to us. Life is neutral. The universe is neutral. It doesn't care about your sadness or your happiness. We give meanings to things. It's not the universe. We decide what things mean for us. And that provides the content for our life. So Pisces is the ultimate seeing through the stories, the tangled web that we weave, to see things as they actually are. And if we can really accept that, then that's indicative of compassion for ourselves and and knowing who we really are. Because we see them as a consequence of ourselves. So does that make sense? Yeah. We'll talk a lot more about Pisces as we go along because it's such a heavy subject and and all-encompassing. Well, it is Pisces. It is all-encompassing.

So anybody have any observations or questions about Pisces? Hands down the worst season of the year. It can be. Opinion. It can be. Yeah. Do you ever notice that, uh, when the sun is going through Scorpio in October, that's always when we have our worst financial month? Notorious in October. Yeah, always. The, the sun in the different signs, it does have a definite characteristic to it throughout the year. We'll talk about that when we get into elements exhaustively. Okay.
