Impact of structured exercise on fatigue in patients with advanced prostate

I think it's particularly important, uh, in the present day because patients are living much, much longer with metastatic prostate cancer, which means they're living with the toxicities of hormone therapy for a much more protracted time than they have ever before. And when you talk to patients, by far the most significant issues that they describe from ADT, anyway, are fatigue and effectively frailty. They don't come up to you and say, "I'm feeling frail," um, but they tell you, "I I can't do this activity anymore," or "I can't bike like I used to," or "I can't go on walks with my partner anymore."

Um, so the the sarcopenia they're feeling and describing in in functional ways. So that's what we were trying to address with this clinical trial is how to mitigate or or hopefully reverse or improve those effects of fatigue and sarcopenia with exercise.

So what we've seen in previous research and publication on this topic is that exercise can indeed improve sarcopenia despite having castrate levels of testosterone. What we were particularly keen to study with this trial is not only that endpoint, but the primary endpoint of fatigue. Does this improve the patient's perceived, uh, you know, self-perceived quality of life despite being on ADT?
