A lot of entrepreneurs will tell me, "I have a hard time trusting people because they've been let down, because they've been lied to, or they've had people steal from them."
When it comes to trust, we've only been burned once, and then we kind of developed this system of literally asking, "How much should I trust you on a 1 to 10 scale?" And how much can I trust you? And you'll see people hesitate.
You'll ask a person, "How much can I trust you on one to 10?" That's an interesting question. What's the right answer? 10.
100%. I'm all in. I love the company. You can trust me 10 out of 10. They won't have any discomfort with saying that.
You'll see discomfort in people that lack that ability to trust. I think every entrepreneur in the world would benefit from understanding if someone suddenly comes into your life and it seems like they've got everything you're looking for. And it's kind of a almost a forceful way that they come into your life. And even if it all sounds good, say, "Let's talk next week." Let yourself cool off and feel that kind of dopamine come down. If it's quick and if it's semiforceful, we need to consider that as a humongous red.
