This statement was made as a result of several statements, very strong statements made by the president of the United States of America, Donald Trump. For example, today he also made a lot of statements. Furthermore, he had a call with Zelensky, or with something like this. Trump said, stated that he would urge China to help close the gap between Russia and Ukraine, which comes shortly after a joint statement issued by Russia and China earlier today in which they emphasize the need to address the root causes of the Ukraine conflict in order to resolve it. We're talking about the joining of NATO by Ukraine.
Another important statement: US has now access to huge amounts of very high-quality rare earth elements from Ukraine. I will talk to Zelensky later. He stated, when talking about European countries, of course, they're also involved in all these celebrations, in the process. And today, according to information we have, their foreign ministers announced 1 billion euro in arms production for Ukraine during the visit to Kyiv on May 9th. So, we see that there is no settlement of conflict in Ukraine. We see just another round of escalation.
Now, let's go to the line of combat contact. We discussed the situation yesterday that at some direction we can see ceasefire, but at some direction we see no ceasefire at all. For example, the Kherson direction, the southern direction, is the direction where we see no ceasefire. Ukrainian armored forces, ignoring the ceasefire, are rolling across the Dnieper in the area of Antonivsky bridge. Extremely difficult terrain for both sides, many channels and islands and also greenery in full force. Uh, a new element of the situation is the artillery preparation and drone strikes on the Kinburn spit. So the Russians are saying that Ukrainians landed the infantry in the vicinity of Antonivsky bridge. So in this area, and currently there are very heavy clashes for this residential part. The Ukrainians are trying to save their positions in this area, and most likely the Russians are trying to restore control over this territory as a part of preparation before a possible landing operation in the city of Kherson itself.
At the same time, the Russians reported that Ukrainians began bombing and attacking the Kinburn spit. We discussed the situation several days ago that the Russians concentrated a huge number of forces in this area, probably with a purpose to cross the Dnieper eastward or probably to repel a possible upcoming Ukrainian attack. So very interesting situation in this region.
Now let's move further, and as for the south direction, we see that most likely during the brief right before the beginning of ceasefire and May holidays, a turning point occurred on the territory of Velyka Lepetykha because today a lot of very reliable pro-Russian resources reported that the Russians, as a result of offensive operation, managed to break through Ukrainian defense in the southern part of the settlement. According to different sources, currently, but more precisely by the beginning of the 9th of May of 2025, the Russians established complete control over everything inside of this red line. And obviously this is already a turning point in the battle for the settlement, and most likely the Ukrainians will be forced to fall back in the very near future. Very likely that they will do this even before the end of the ceasefire. Furthermore, several pro-Russian resources reported that as a result of a breakthrough operation, the Russians managed to enter the eastern part of Aleksandrivka. So we see that this is already a complete disaster for the Ukrainians. It's very difficult even to understand what is going to happen on the 11th of May of 2025. The Russians will increase their pressure obviously.
Now let's move further. Let's talk about the city of Bakhmut. Today we got very important video from the settlement by the name of Zoria. We will not watch this video fully because we have a lot of violence. But in this video, we can see Russian soldiers that were moving through the village and taking positions. This episode was dedicated exactly to this point. The Ukrainians later attacked this building and destroyed this. So Russians were moving here. Uh, they were attacked by Ukrainians exactly here. So obviously the Russians wouldn't move so freely in this area if Ukrainian positions were in front of them. So most likely the Russians established almost complete control over the settlement of Zoria. We expect that the line of combat contact goes somewhere along this red line. Anyway, we haven't adjusted like this. We have adjusted the map based on the edge geolocation we found from this area. But if this information is correct, if the Russians indeed control this territory and control this part of Zoria, this is already the beginning of the battle for the city of Bakhmut itself. I'll remind you that several days ago, we got reports that the Russians entered the southern block from this area. So, uh, summarizing both updates and both adjustments on the map, we expect that maybe, maybe, and probably very likely the Russians already control something like this. The Russians are already on the territory of the city of Bakhmut, but neither the Russians nor Ukrainians are now this. They decided to use this probably piece of news after the end of ceasefire.
Now let's move further. Let's discuss the situation in the Klishchiivka pocket where the Russians continue offensive actions. The father reminded that during the previous days we got a lot of reports that the Russians secured and took under complete control the settlement of Andriivka, but without any proofs, just several mappers updated. But we have today video, and this is the video where we can see how Russian soldiers were attacking and storming Ukrainian trenches in this area. These trenches, this dense network of fortifications was discovered by several centiners and marked on the map. So based on this video, we have adjusted the map. This is exactly the stronghold that was taken by the Russians in that video. So we see that the Russians either captured the settlement Andriivka completely or about to do this. Maybe today the minister of defense of the Russian Federation will report about this.
As for the other directions, according to information we have, both the Russians and the Ukrainians follow the ceasefire. Maybe there is some activity, but activity, but not so huge to call it like a full-scale offensive or defense operations. Let's talk about the south selection. We have some updates from here as well. Today the Ukrainian sources published this video to the west of Makarivka where we can see how Ukrainians were attacking edge positions of the armored force of the Russian Federation with FPV drones. For example, this is the situation by the end of the 6th of May. And this is approximately the period of time when the Russians began their offensive for in the direction of Hryhorivka. Now, let's take a look at how the map was changing. So, this is the situation by the end of the 7th of May. This is the situation by the end of the 8th of May. And this is the situation by the beginning of the 9th of May. So as you can see, the Russians are getting closer and closer to the settlement of Hryhorivka, at least using two roads of attacks. Very interesting. Most likely this is the area, and this is the next task and target for the Russians right after the end of the ceasefire to maintain the lines and to shorten them.
As for the northern directions, during the previous 24 hours, we continue receiving different updates and videos how Ukrainians were trying to breach Russian defense. Ukrainians continued using different, a lot of vehicles, engineering equipment, infantry, but the Russians control the border completely. A lot of artillery strikes, FPV drone attacks. The only thing that Ukrainians are doing right now, they're suffering losses. And that's it. As for the settlement of Tokmak, now yesterday we adjusted the map based on the video published by the Ukrainian site, but once again today the Russians reported that they managed to secure the settlement completely. As for now, we are not going to change the map based on the statements. We are waiting for additional videos, for official videos, or something like this. Furthermore, we continue receiving videos where we can see Ukrainian troopers moving in the southwestern part of Tokmak. So despite Russian statements, we see that Ukrainians continue very slowly, but advancing, advancing, and advancing. So this is the situation in this area.
