So yesterday, y'all, I did a video about what me and my son was going through. Read the comments, the feedback. You know, some was negative. Of course, that come with the territory. But a lot was good. I appreciate y'all feedback.
But let's get deeper into this, right? A lot of people said, "Why did you put it on YouTube?" You know, because first of all, I put it on YouTube because my son will see it. I can't call him. Why you just call to talk to your son? You act like he's home. He's in the penitentiary. Can't call him. He doesn't call me, right? M just called me two times a day before. Hooked him up with the the jail podcast has said they was going to do something type of thing. I hope they still do it. I mean, M did it without me being the middleman. Give him the number, hooked up. You get paid for this every month, right? So just stop calling me like out of nowhere, right?
So I call this girl like, yo, I'm outside of prison about to visit him. Well, ask him this, this, that, and the third. Come, you get out the prison. Don't never call me nothing. Month and a half go by, whatever. Then she just text me like, "Yo, uh, what you say? You got, you got the money for this, that, and the third." Like, well, why you texting me that when he could just call me? So, it's almost like, all right, bro, I ain't calling you. Just get that money out. So, I'm like, damn. Do I got to? Why do I feel like I got to chase somebody that's in prison that's my son to get them some money that that they need? If anything, he supposed to be reaching out to me, calling me. I'm saying that's just.
But the thing was that with that, I was cool even with that, right? But when the boys start disrespecting me online, yeah, Muji, my man, you did six years with him. You a PSSY. You this, you that, and the third. Like, oh, your friends feel comfortable disrespecting me. What are you saying about me in there? Are they, do they not respect you that much? Do they disrespect your parents? I don't know a kid I ever had in my life that one of their friends disrespected me, ever. Ever. I, I just never saw it before. So, oh. Oh. So, so that was like my last straw. Like, okay. Oh, this boy, he on some other stuff like ah.
So, so I don't get a chance to talk to him in prison. He know my phone number. He can call me every day. He could have called me every day. He's, I'm pretty sure you know about this video I did yesterday. Not going to call me because he got a lot of pride and he got like a lot of, uh, he think he's, uh, up here. I mean, mind you, I still love you. My sons and fathers been going through it since the beginning of time. Know what I'm saying? The father's job is to say tough love and the son's job is to start respecting his father. Every, every religious book tell you respect your mother and father. Every religious book. You know what I'm saying?
So, but my thing is this. Did you see the the the 15-year-old boy that killed his dad? His dad was home in jail 5 years. Gave him a surprise party. They had an argument. He went to sleep. He offed him. Yesterday, 11-year-old boy offed his father over a Nintendo Switch. These kids these days are different from the kids when I was growing up. I grew up in an era where you had to go figure it out. Had to go get this money. Ain't no, "Please give me this," and "Please give me this." "You owe me this." "I don't get this." I mean, you, like these kids these days got 10 pair of Jordans. They got PlayStation 5. They got, they don't mean nothing to them. They got iPhones. They, nothing means nothing to them. Nothing means nothing to them. They get everything they want. My era is different. We had to hustle for it. We had to work for it. You know what I'm saying? So they never understand our mind frame.
Mind you, I came home 2015, didn't have a dime. Had to figure it out. I'm talking about, you imagine being famous without no money. I mean, I'm going to YouTube school. Learn how to do YouTube. Just try to make an extra thousand dollars so I could be able to pay something a month to living with some girl. And I mean, it's a lot. But my era was like, I'm not going to complain. I'mma figure it out. I figured it out, man. I went to truck driving school, barber school, sold CDs, booked all type of stuff. Like, you know what I'm saying? Cuz I'm a hustler. So you got a hustler mentality. Your, your mind will automatically go to, "Please give me, give me, give me, give me." It don't. It go to, "How can I do? How can I do? How can I do? How can we come together?" You know what I'm saying?
You know, when it come to your kids, of course you love them. You want them to be great. You know what I'm saying? But sometimes they just don't listen. They don't listen. So you tell them to do this and do this and do this and they just won't do it. They do what, whatever they want to do. You know what I'm saying? And then they turn around, look at you like, "Well, bum me out of the situation." And of course, you will try to bail them out many situations as you can. But once you got friends disrespecting your dad, you got to be like, "I'm, I drew. I took it too far." I would never talk about my dad to nobody. My dad died a friend of my face when I was 12 years old, right? But I can't imagine me ever saying something in prison to somebody about my dad. That'll be the last thing I think about. Especially when your dad got a name and an image and whatever he got going on, you trying to tarnish his name. Yeah, he ain't do this and do this and do that. What did you do? When I was your age, I was making $35,000 a week. When I was 21, the same age you fighting your case for homicide, I was fighting my drawing. I paid for my own lawyer. Not trying to flex. I'm just saying I had, I was on my business first. How many rappers you know from Philly got a record during 19 in the '90s? Me. It wasn't for free. Hard work and dedication.
So instead of trying to be in competition with your dad or don't you, you should have just took all the good you saw your dad do, right, and say, "I could do better than him." Don't you go to prison and just become a, a, a burden on people and act like everybody owe you, right? Because people on the, on the free world got a lot on their plate. We deal with a lot. We deal with having to pay bills and bills is crazy. They come every month fast. You know what I'm saying? I figured it out. And I'm not sitting here like I'm on a pedestal like I'm better than nobody. None of that. All I'm saying is this. I don't have a mom or a dad I can go ask for money from. Whatever's in my bank account because I worked hard to put it in there. I'm saying when you give somebody money out your bank account, especially if it's thousands and thousands and thousands of dollars, the least they could do is respect you. The least they could do is respect you. That's it.
My son made that video that he did on on the internet, nobody said, "Why you on the internet with that?" Nobody said that. When it come, "Oh, why you on the internet?" Cuz I want to. I want to be on the internet. That's why. Whoever don't like it, don't watch it. I'm saying don't watch it. My two kids right there. My youngest kids is right there where they sleep now. But saying I still got to take care of your brothers and sisters. You ever think about that? So every time you, I got to take care of your little brother and sister that's not adults. You know what I'm saying? Your mom got a lot of kids. You got, you don't care about nothing. All about is, "Let me do this. Let me do, let me get the." Is me, me. Never thought about that. I shouldn't have did what I did. I, I hate putting burdens on my parents. No, if I don't, if they don't give it to me, I don't mess with my dad. If I don't give you something, you don't mess with me no more. So that mean you mess with me on, on conditions. Conditions of me giving you bread. That's the only. So that's the only reason why you mess with me. It's about bread. It ain't about you messing with me, bro. You know what I'm saying? Even in mind, I didn't even say I was going to give you the bread yet. I'm supposed to get a bread on the 21st. So I ain't say no yet. You ain't still ain't call me to fix it or do nothing yet. You know what I'm saying? So what am I going to do? I'm not begging to give nobody no thousands of dollars. I'm not begging them. Not begging to be in somebody life and have a friendship with somebody that that don't care about me enough to call my phone. I'm just not.
Do I love you forever? Kids, parents love for their kids is unconditional whether we agree with you or not. But we will fall back when you, when you once you reach adulthood, we fall back. Can't be out here, don't play grown man games. Then when the grown man consequences come, you blame everybody else and say, "Well, you ain't do this and you ain't do that." That ain't how life work, bro. You talk about a dad that been in the same situation you are in. Homicide that when I was 20, you mean? 21 fighting it. No dad to call, no mom to call, none of that. You know what I'm saying? God willing, I had a regular deal. I had money to pay for a lawyer. And instead of being like, see, like I'm talking down, you respect the hustle. Got to respect the grind. Respect the grind. I mean, I had to write reps every night. Every night. So, when I did finally get my opportunity, me, Jay-Z, a rep good enough to get signed on the spot. That wasn't easy. It wasn't me sitting around here just playing around, playing games. I was focused. So, whatever, whatever people got to say about me here, I don't care cuz I know one thing I did that they would never would do. I was focused. I know how to go get to these goals. I know how to go take care of my business.
Perfect father, I don't, I don't think a perfect father exists. Do I think my mothers do more? Yes, mothers get the accolades, too. Kids love their mother no matter what. You know what I'm saying? Dads, we, whatever. We just, we just along for the ride. Nobody really care about us. I'm saying nobody care about us. A child to cut his dad off like this, man. I don't care about my dad. We ain't nobody. So, for dads out there in the world, we have to take care of ourselves. We have, cuz if we don't take care of ourselves, who going to take care of us? And, and it's something that sad to say. I didn't really want to mention this, but when I lost my son, I really didn't want to be close to nobody no more anyway. So, when somebody said, "F me or I want to mess with me," I was like, man, I'm cool with that. I don't want to be out here loving somebody crazy and they, they end up passing away or anything with me anyway. So, I, I live in a zone where I'm cool with somebody not messing with me. Know what I'm saying?
And the, the, the most beautiful part about being independent, that money, you know, no matter even if I was in, even if I went to prison tomorrow for life, right? I got money where I don't have to ask nobody for nothing. I don't have to be a burden to nobody. Being a burden for a real man. When you're a real man, being a burden is is embarrassing. You're a real man, being a burden is embarrassing. And I ain't even talking about my son right now. Just talking about in general. Being a burden for a real man is embarrassing, man. So I love y'all even if you don't love me back. Please.
