DESPITE THESE CONSTRAINTS AND THE HARD DECISIONS WE HAVE ACROSS THE COUNTY, WE HAVE A BASIC LEVEL OF SUPPORT FOR THE GRANTS BECAUSE WE KNOW HOW IMPORTANT THE FUNDING FOR THE NONPROFIT PARTNERS WORKING EVERY DAY TO SERVE OUR RESIDENTS. NOW I WANT TO THANK EVERY ORGANIZATION THAT HAS FILED AN APPLICATION FOR THIS GRANT. THE WORK BEING DONE BY ALL THE APPLICANTS IS DEEPLY VALUED IN THE COMMUNITY. FOR THOSE THAT ARE NOT FUNDED OR WERE NOT SELECTED, THAT'S THE OUTCOME OF THE LOWER FUNDING AVAILABLE IN THIS CYCLE AND THE DIFFICULT BUDGET REALITIES WE FACE AND ABSOLUTELY NOT THE IMPORTANCE OF THE WORK BEING DONE. AT A TIME WHEN MANY NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS FACE FUNDING INSTABILITY, THESE GRANTS CAN PROVIDE MEANINGFUL SUPPORT TO HELP ORGANIZATIONS CONTINUE TO SERVE OUR COMMUNITIES. We are incredibly thankful for this investment in the cafe community, our neighbors recovering from addiction, homelessness, mental health issues, incarceration and other kinds of life trauma. Good afternoon. I am Destiny Peña, the Jobs to Grow Manager at Grow Family Services, serving families in the Mayfair community. Thank you for your continued support of the families we serve and for considering our budget item to support renovations and operations for a new childcare enrollment center on Allen Road. We are grateful to Supervisor Ellenberg and Betty Du'o'ng for representing 35,000 for this project and then Supervisor Betty Young for recommending 20,000 towards our Jobs to Grow program. Through this no-cost program, we provide training and state-required certifications for individuals pursuing licensure as family childcare home providers, creating pathways to economic mobility and expanding access. For 20 years I have -- I am here because we have had a lot of development work and this has allowed us to give training for developing children and also have state certification and different tools in order to have a home care for children without any cost. Those services are essential for taking care of children and it's also an essential need of the community. That's why I am here to request the financing of $20,000 through this through District Two in order to have continuity of the programs that we have for home care for children. Thank you very much.

That's why I would like to request this $20,000 for District Two. This is going to make a very -- a good differentiation for all the members -- all the members of the community and also this would allow me to open -- also it has allowed me to open the business in my own house and to deliver good, quality services for the community. Hello, good afternoon. My name is Viviani Vega. I am with Healthier Kids Foundation. Our mission is to remove health barriers that impact the learning and lives of children and youth across Santa Clara County. I would like to thank Supervisor Betty Du'o'ng and the District Two office for recognizing the importance of preventive health, child safety and action for children and families. For more than 20 years we have partnered with schools, community organizations to provide health screenings, health education and care navigation services to vulnerable families throughout our county. This funding will support the Safety From the Start campaign which helps keep children safe during Halloween activities through distribution of glow necklaces and safety resources. In addition, it will invest and support in our office for location and infrastructure needs, allowing to move closer to the community that we serve and improve accessibility through proximity to public transportation and community partnerships. Good afternoon. My name is Sammy Oliver and I am here on behalf of Bay Area Women Sports Initiative or BOSSY. At BOSSY we believe every child deserves the opportunity to play, move, build confidence and to belong. We are deeply grateful to Supervisor Du'o'ng to propose funding to support the BOSSY program at McCollum Elementary School and to the City of San Jose for your standing support of BOSSY. We provide adaptive sports and physical activity opportunities for children with disabilities, creating spaces where children are celebrated for what they can do. Through movement and joy, students learn leadership skills while experiencing the power of belonging to sport. It's about more than creating you. It's inclusion, confidence and community. Supervisor Du'o'ng's proposal would make sure that they have access to free school-based programming supporting both physical and social emotional well-being and creates opportunities that otherwise might not exist. Good afternoon. I am Kimberly and represent the Portuguese Organization for Social Services and Opportunities. Today I want to speak about digital literacy. For many seniors, technology is no longer optional. With each passing day, the digital divide continues to grow. And technology is its own language. For many low-income seniors with limited English proficiency, navigating it can feel overwhelming and inaccessible. We have first-hand seen the difference digital literacy classes make. With support from the county, we provided digital classes in fiscal year of 204 to 325 seniors in their primary languages. We watched seniors go from feeling intimidated by smartphones and computers to confidently sending emails, attending telehealth appointments and avoiding online scams and video calling family members across the world. For through their hard, difficult moments of their lives, cancer doesn't just affect your health, it impacts housing, finances, mental well-being and their ability to navigate a very complicated system. Really want to express our gratitude of supervisor's continued support to our business corridor last year. Your office championed more than 100K in funding to support activation, economic development initiatives, helping bring us the Story Moon Festival, block party as well as a series of 2026 FIFA World Cup watch parties that are coming up the pipeline that will attract a lot of -- thousands of visitors into our business corridors. Our program lifts up lives. We provide essential items to homeless and low-income families. What that means, every Saturday, May 16th, May 30th at Guadalupe Park area for an hour, hour and a half, we provide resources, like tour, etcetera for the homeless. They get paid a stipend of 25 bucks and get access to the resources. We help them to grow. I advise all supervisors to bring your clothes and follow Vibe and Smiles online. Good afternoon, County Supervisors. I am Dan Moser, Executive Director of the East Side Union High School District Education Foundation, speaking in support of inventory items 33 and 243. Thank you to Supervisor Lee and Supervisor Du'o'ng for championing the foundation's vision to expand college access and success for first-generation students in the East Side Union School District. The impact has been significant. I 81st increase in East Side students enrolling in San Jose State University. But access is only the first step. Our shared goal is student success through graduation. That's why the foundation also invests in scholarships, mentorships and student ambassador programs that help students persist and thrive. Which will allow Building Skills Partnership to create a year-round outdoor wellness and environmental engagement program for low-wage property service workers and their families. We are grateful to be able to send our workers and VSP will target the needs of approximately 600 janitors and their families in Santa Clara. This initiative will allow us to provide accessible wellness opportunities for working families, particularly those navigating demanding overnight or irregular work schedules. So a partnership between Santa Clara County, Building Skills Partnership will create accessible opportunities. We thank you for this opportunity.

With the current up and coming changes in Medi-Cal, there continues to be confusion and fear. Community Health Partnership is well-positioned to inform on health access issues. We have experience supporting community members to enroll in and maintain affordable health coverage through advocacy and community engagement. We are also part of several national and statewide coalitions and are able to provide up-to-the-minute information and advocacy opportunities to the community. Good afternoon, Supervisors. My name is Andrea and here approximate in support of the null offers of justice services and support the comment on item 12 A.I. So after 15 years and millions invested in the South County Youth Task Force, communities like Gilroy still continue to have the highest rates of youth arrests and racial disparity in the county. According to 2024 Juvenile Justice Data, work 2,281 youth arrests and citations in 2024 and referrals to juvenile court. If the model was working, we would see reductions in arrests and systems involvement and we are not seeing that. And when youth and families need real support, not us systems refer them to organizations like CARE as. We are the ones doing the prevention and intervention work on the ground every day, mentorship, crisis response, violence prevention, education and advocacy. They should, not house under the DA's office. We should be investing directly into prevention.

Good afternoon, everyone. I am Jeremiah Irrelevant, and I serve as Development and Analysis with the African American Community Service Agency in San Jose. I am here today in strong support of inventory items number 4, number 346, 213 and number 152. And I wanted to say thank you, Supervisor Lee, Auto Lee, Sylvia Reason, Betty Du'o'ng and Margaret Abe-Koga for investing in us and the communities we serve. These proposed items will support and continue our initiatives with our policy and education team, whether which I support and ensure have that you are all students of high school and color students get access to opportunities at our ASALT CS CARES program that serves over 15,000 individuals and 5,000 households annually. And supporting our annual MLK Luncheon which we have been putting on for over 46 years and providing a stipend for our youth internship. Thank you.

Hi, good afternoon, Supervisor Lee and members of the Board. I am Stephanie, a Nurse Practitioner and CEO of School Health Clinics San Clara County. We have five school-based community clinics that serve all ages in San Jose and Gilroy. Thank you for your consideration of item number 26. Hypertension is the leading driver of cardiovascular disease in Santa Clara County. Heart disease is the one of the top two causes of death. Nearly half of all adults have high blood pressure, yet fewer than 1 in 4 have it controlled. The blood pressure cuffs that we are requesting funding for will be distributed free of charge to patients at School Health Clinics and other community health centers. Home monitoring is a proven tool for improved control. And for our patients, cost is a real barrier. Along with the monitors, patients will receive health education on controlling blood pressure and working closely with the medical providers to track their blood pressure to control. We are deeply grateful for your consideration of this investment in community health. Thank you very much.

Our clinic six proud to support Community Health Partnership and the amazing Leadership Academy program that they offer to our community leaders. Thank you to Supervisor Margaret Abe-Koga for submitting budget item 159 to invest in Community Health Partnership's Leadership Academy Cohort 5. Peninsula Healthcare Connection has proudly participated in all the Community Health Partnership's Leadership Academies and alumnus of Cohort One, I have grown significantly as a leader within our North County community and have continued to strengthen and expand programs that directly impact the health and well-being of the individuals we serve. The academy helped build my confidence, leadership skills and ability to develop collaborative, community-driven programs that address the needs of medically vulnerable populations. As a student, graduate from a Leadership Academy Cohort Eight and intern with AACSA, I can specifically say these programs have had a meaningful impact on me. They have helped me build confidence, professional skills and understand civic engagement and see the importance of giving back to the community. Investing in AACSA's Leadership Academy, internship programs and MLK Luncheon means investing in young people, future leaders in spaces where we can be mentored, supported and represented. These programs are more than just opportunities, they help young people like me go extra stronger tuned professional and community leaders. BECAUSE REALLY DISTRACTED BY ALL OF THE THINGS GOING ON IN THIS WORLD. BUT THIS IS WHERE WE SEE COMMUNITY MAGIC HAPPENS WHERE OUR COMMUNITY-BASED ORGANIZATIONS, OUR LOCAL LEADERS KNOW HOW TO TURN A DOLLAR INTO FIVE WITH COMMUNITY VISION LEADING THE WAY TOWARDS WHAT LOCAL GRASSROOTS EFFORTS AND ORGANIZING AND SUPPORT LOOK LIKE. SO JUST THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR BEING IN HERE. BEING PART OF THIS WORK EVEN WHEN THE LANDSCAPE LOOKS SO TOUGH AND SO CHALLENGING, WE CONTINUE TO ENDURE, PERSEVERE AND CHARGE AHEAD. I WANT TO GIVE A SHOUT OUT TO CLERK OF THE BOARD. I KNOW AND YOUR TEAM, I KNOW THAT MANAGING THIS AGENDA IS NO SMALL FEAT. MANAGING OUR INVENTORY ITEMS IS NOT -- IT'S MUCH EASIER SAID THAN DONE.
