How to Train Your Spirit to Dominate Your Senses | E.W. Kenyon Revelation

E.W. Kenyon Revelations29:38

Transcription

There is a sentence in E.W. Kenyon's book, The Hidden Man, that most believers have never stopped long enough to let land. He wrote this: "Before Adam fell, his spirit ruled him and his senses were subject to his spirit. But the instant he fell, his spirit lost dominion and his five senses took over."

Read that again slowly. Before the fall, your spirit was in charge. Your senses were servants. They were given to you to contact the physical world, not to govern your life, not to make your decisions, not to define your reality. They were tools, instruments under the authority of a spirit that was alive, connected to God, and fully in dominion over everything in the created world.

Then sin happened and the order reversed. The spirit went into prison and the senses took the throne. And from that moment forward, humanity has been living from the outside in, governed by what they can see, hear, taste, touch, and feel. Trusting only what the five senses confirm. Building entire lives, entire belief systems, entire relationships with God on the foundation of sense experience and calling it reality.

But here is the discovery that changes everything. When you were born again, that original order was legally restored. Your spirit was recreated. The nature and life of God were imparted to your inner man. The same dominion that Adam had before the fall was given back to you in Christ. Your spirit is no longer the prisoner of your five senses. It is the rightful ruler of your entire being. Spirit first, soul second, body third. That is God's original design. That is what redemption restored.

1 Thessalonians 5:23: "And the very God of peace sanctify you holy; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless." Spirit, soul, body in that order, not body first, not soul first, spirit first. Because that is the order God designed. That is the order redemption restored.

So why are most believers still living like Adam after the fall? Why are they still governed by their senses? Why does a medical report still have more authority over them than the word of God? Why does an empty bank account still produce more fear in them than the promise of Philippians 4:19? Why does the pain in their body still speak louder than 1 Peter 2:24?

Because having the dominion legally and walking in it practically are two completely different things. Your spirit has been recreated. But if it has never been developed, if it has never been trained, if it has never been deliberately, consistently built up until it is strong enough to assert its God-given dominion over the sense-ruled mind, then you will spend your entire Christian life with a recreated spirit and a sense-ruled existence. Born again on the inside, still living like the old man on the outside.

Everything we cover in this teaching is drawn directly from "The Hidden Man of the Heart and in His Presence" by E.W. Kenyon. And today we are going to walk through five specific habits that will take your spirit from undeveloped and easily overwhelmed to trained, sharp, and dominant over every report your five senses try to bring. This is not devotional content. This is spiritual warfare training.

But before the habits, we need to understand the root of the entire problem. Something called sense knowledge dominance. And it is the default condition of every human being on the planet until something intervenes and breaks it. Sense knowledge is the knowledge that comes through the five senses. It is real. It is immediate. For the unregenerate man, it is the only source of information about reality he has access to.

But sense knowledge is constantly at war with revelation knowledge. And that war is happening inside every believer every single day. Revelation knowledge does not depend on the senses to confirm it. It is true whether your body feels it or not. It stands independent of every circumstance, every diagnosis, every financial report, every emotional state. It is the knowledge that comes from the word of God. And it is categorically superior to anything the five senses can produce. But the senses are more practiced. And until your spirit is trained to lead, the senses win. That is what these five habits are designed to change.

Practice number one: Renew your mind with the word until revelation knowledge becomes louder than sense knowledge. Romans 12:2: "Be not conformed to this world, but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind." The transformation that most believers are waiting for externally is waiting on them internally. It is waiting on a mind that has been consistently, deliberately, daily renewed by the word of God until revelation knowledge has become the dominant voice.

The trouble with the majority of believers is not their spirits. Their spirits were recreated at the new birth. The trouble is their minds. The mind still carries every pattern, every habit, every response mechanism that was built by decades of sense-ruled living. And until the mind is renewed, it will continue to function as the mouthpiece of the senses. It will continue to tell you what the doctor said, what the bank account shows, what the circumstances suggest, loudly, persistently, confidently. And it will do this even after you are born again because the new birth recreates your spirit, not your mind.

The mind must be renewed deliberately through the word, through consistent daily intentional feeding of revelation knowledge until it becomes more concrete, more certain, more solid to your inner man than anything your senses are reporting. You are not trying to deny what the senses say. You are building a higher reality that has more authority than what the senses say. And you do this every day until the day comes when the sense report arrives and instead of dominating you, it is met by a spirit and a mind that already know the answer.

Here is the practical application. Every single day you take the word and you feed it to your mind with intention. Not reading to gather information, not checking off a devotional plan. You take specific revelation realities: "I am the righteousness of God in Christ." "By His stripes, I was healed." "My God shall supply all my need." And you read them, say them, meditate on them until they become more real to your inner man than anything your senses are reporting. That is practice number one.

Practice number two: Confess your redemption realities out loud every single day. New creation realities never become realities until we confess them. Never. That is an absolute. Not rarely, not slowly, never until you confess them. Most believers know their redemption realities intellectually. They know they are the righteousness of God. They know they have been delivered from the power of darkness. They know greater is He that is in them. They know by His stripes they were healed. They know it, they believe it, but it has never become a living reality in their daily experience. And the reason is confession, or the lack of it.

When you confess a redemption reality out loud, you are doing something far more significant than positive thinking. You are making contact between your recreated spirit and the word of God through the spoken word. When the heart and the lips join in joyful confession, faith rises to the flood tide, not a trickle, the flood tide. Because the spoken word energizes the spirit, it takes what is true legally and makes it real experientially. It takes revelation knowledge sitting in your mind as information and drops it into your spirit as living reality.

Proverbs 18:21: "Death and life are in the power of the tongue." Not just in times of crisis. Every day, every declaration, every confession, the tongue is constantly building or destroying the reality your spirit lives in.

Here is the practical application. Every single morning, before anything else, you open your mouth and you declare out loud what the word says about you. Not what your circumstances say, not what your feelings say, what the word says. "I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. I have been delivered from the power of darkness. Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world. By His stripes, I was healed. My God shall supply all my need." You say these things out loud deliberately daily, not as a ritual, as a declaration of the reality your spirit is standing on. And over time, what began as a declaration becomes a conviction. And a conviction in the spirit is stronger than any sense report the body can produce.

Practice number three: Walk by the spirit by acting on the word before the senses confirm it. Galatians 5:16: "Walk in the spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh." The combat described in that verse is a combat between the recreated spirit and the senses. Walk by the recreated spirit, and the promise attached to it is that the senses lose their dominion.

But notice what walking by the spirit requires. Action before the senses confirm the outcome. Moving on the word before the circumstances line up. Treating revelation knowledge as more reliable than sense knowledge, even when every physical indicator is pointing in the opposite direction. Most believers wait for the senses to confirm before they act. They wait until the pain stops before they confess healing. They wait until the money appears before they confess provision. They wait until the fear subsides before they confess courage. But that is sense-ruled living dressed in spiritual language.

Real spirit dominance acts on what the word says and lets the senses catch up because the senses were never designed to lead. They were designed to follow. 2 Corinthians 5:7: "For we walk by faith, not by sight." Faith is the language of the spirit. Sight is the language of the body. And the believer who has never learned to walk by faith is still governed entirely by what they can see, feel, and physically experience.

Romans 4:17: Abraham called those things which be not as though they were. He did not wait for his body to recover before he declared the promise. He spoke the promise while his body was still contradicting it. The declaration came before the manifestation. That is the order always. The spirit acts first, the senses follow.

Here is the practical application. Identify one area in your life right now where your senses are reporting one thing and the word of God is saying another. A health situation, a financial situation, a circumstance that looks impossible from every natural angle. And this week, in that specific area, you act on the word. Not after you feel better, not after the circumstances improve. Now you speak the word over it. You pray as though the answer is already settled. You make decisions consistent with what the word promises rather than what the circumstances suggest. You act as though the word is the most reliable information available because it is. And every single time you do this, every time you choose revelation knowledge over sense knowledge in a practical, concrete daily decision, your spirit gets stronger, its voice gets louder, its dominion over the senses increases. That is how the war is won. Not in one dramatic moment, in a thousand small daily decisions to trust the word over the sense report.

Practice number four: Develop your spirit through daily meditation until it dominates circumstances. Take 10 or 15 minutes daily for meditation. Learn to do it. Begin the development of your own spirit. You can develop spirit life until you dominate circumstances. Dominate circumstances, not manage them, not cope with them, not survive them. Dominate them. That is the level of spirit development available to every believer who is willing to do the daily work of meditation. Not someday, not for the spiritually elite, for every believer who would take 10 to 15 minutes daily and give their spirit the focused, intentional nourishment of the word.

You shut yourself in alone with your own spirit where the clamor of the world is shut out. You create conditions in which your spirit can be heard over the noise of the senses. And in that quiet, focused space, you feed your inner man the word until it becomes alive. Until it stops being information and starts being reality. Faith is developed in the human spirit by the word of God. It comes by acting on the word. Every time you act on the word, faith becomes stronger. There are no shortcuts. There is no substitute, but there is also no limit. Your spirit has practically no limitations. And the only thing standing between you and that limitless spirit life is the daily practice of developing it.

Here is the practical application. Every day, not just on Sundays, not just in crisis, every day. You take 15 minutes and shut the world out. You take one verse, you read it slowly, you close your eyes and let it soak into your inner man. You say it again, you stay with it until your spirit is feeding on it rather than your mind just processing it. A spirit that is fed daily grows daily. And a spirit that grows daily eventually dominates the circumstances that once dominated it.

Practice number five: Stand in righteousness consciousness instead of sin consciousness. This is the practice most believers never connect to spirit dominance. But it is absolutely foundational because a spirit gripped by sin consciousness cannot exercise dominion. Sin consciousness is the deep, quiet, persistent sense of unworthiness that keeps a believer approaching God as a guilty supplicant rather than a righteous son. It is the inner voice that says, "Who are you to stand on the word? Who are you to demand healing? Who are you to confess victory when you know what you did last week?" It undermines every other practice. It cuts the legs out from under every confession. It makes meditation feel like presumption. And it keeps the spirit weak, hesitant, and easily dominated by the senses. Because a spirit gripped by sin consciousness cannot pray with boldness. It cannot stand on the word with confidence. It cannot walk by revelation knowledge when it is constantly second-guessing its own right to do so.

Sin consciousness is the senses' greatest weapon against the recreated spirit. It uses guilt, shame, and unworthiness to keep the inner man silent. But the cure is not trying harder. The cure is not better performance. The cure is a revelation. 2 Corinthians 5:21: "For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him." You have been made the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. Not a sinner trying to become righteous, not a guilty man hoping God will overlook his failures. The righteousness of God right now, in this moment, as settled and irrevocable as your new birth.

When that reality becomes more real to your spirit than the accusations of the sense-ruled conscience, your spirit steps into its full dominion. It stops apologizing for taking its rightful place. It stops hesitating at the throne of grace. Hebrews 4:16: "Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need." Boldly, not timidly, not hesitantly, not with a long list of apologies. Boldly. And from that place of righteous boldness, the senses have no ground to stand on.

Here is the practical application. Every day, before you do anything else, you remind your spirit of its righteousness. Not your performance, not your consistency, not how well you prayed this week. Your righteousness in Christ. You say out loud, "I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. I have a right to stand in His presence. I have a right to stand on His word. I have a right to exercise dominion in Jesus' name." And you say it until you believe it. Until sin consciousness loses its grip, until your spirit stands up straight and takes the authority it has always been entitled to.

Now you have all five practices. Renew your mind with the word. Confess your redemption realities daily. Act on the word before the senses confirm it. Meditate daily until your spirit dominates circumstances. Stand in righteousness consciousness. None of these are complicated. All of them require consistency, and together they accomplish what no single dramatic spiritual encounter can produce: a spirit that is trained, developed, and strong enough to do what it was always designed to do: dominate the senses, not suppress them, not ignore them. Dominate them the way God designed from the beginning. The way redemption legally restored. The way a trained, developed, sense-dominating spirit walks, not someday, but every single day.

And the enemy knows this. He does not fight your prayer meetings nearly as hard as he fights your consistency in these five practices. Because a believer who practices these things daily is a believer whose spirit is no longer manageable, whose inner man is no longer easily overwhelmed, whose circumstances have started bowing to the word rather than the word bowing to circumstances. That is the believer God designed you to be. And it starts with one decision: to stop letting your senses lead and start training your spirit to dominate.

Now let me show you the picture of a believer who has practiced these five things consistently. Who has renewed their mind with the word until revelation knowledge dominates. Who confesses their redemption realities daily until they are more real than circumstances. Who acts on the word before the senses confirm it. Who meditates daily until the spirit dominates circumstances. Who stands in righteousness consciousness until sin consciousness loses its grip.

Your spirit can come to the point where the things in His word will become as real to you, and Jesus will become as real to you, as any person standing in the room with you. Not as an idea, not as a theological conviction, as real as someone standing right there, as certain as the floor beneath your feet. That is what a fully developed, fully trained, sense-dominating spirit produces: a daily lived experience of spiritual reality that is more concrete, more dependable, more unshakable than anything the physical world can produce.

The senses have limitations. Your spirit has practically no limitations. Think about what that means in your specific situation right now. The senses say, "This is impossible." The spirit that has been trained and developed says, "Greater is He that is in me." The senses say, "The report is bad." The spirit standing in righteousness consciousness says, "By His stripes, I was healed." The senses say, "There is not enough." The spirit walking in revelation knowledge says, "My God shall supply all my need according to His riches in glory."

Which voice is louder in your life right now? That is the question. And the answer is not fixed. It is not permanent. It is not determined by your past or your failures or the years you spent living sense-ruled. It is determined by what you do starting today, by which voice you feed, by which reality you consistently, deliberately, daily choose to stand on.

And the moment you begin these five practices, even imperfectly, even inconsistently at first, something begins to shift in your inner man. The spirit starts to speak a little louder. The senses start to have a little less authority. The word starts to feel a little more solid, not because anything changed externally, because something is being built internally. Ephesians 3:16: "That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his spirit in the inner man." Strengthened with might in the inner man. That is not a passive experience. That is the result of a spirit that has been consistently nourished, consistently developed, and consistently exercised through the daily practice of these five things.

And here is what changes when the inner man is strengthened. The outer pressures do not automatically disappear. The circumstances do not necessarily change overnight. But the believer who faces them is different because they are no longer facing them from a sense-ruled position where every report from the outside shakes them. They are facing them from an inside-out position where the spirit speaks first, speaks louder, and speaks with the authority of a man who has been trained in the word and knows exactly who he is in Christ. That is spirit dominance. That is what redemption restored. That is what these five practices develop. And it is available to you. Not after years of striving. Not after you reach some elite level of spirituality. Right now, starting with the first practice, starting with the first morning you choose to feed your spirit before you feed your senses. The senses have had the throne long enough. It is time for your spirit to take back its rightful place.

But I want to say something to the believer who has heard teachings like this before, who has started the practices and fallen off, who has renewed their mind for two weeks and then stopped, who has made declarations for a month and then gone quiet. The Father is not disappointed in you. He is not measuring your inconsistency and withholding development as a consequence. Romans 8:1: "There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus." None. The moment you return to the practice, the development resumes exactly where you left it. Because the recreated spirit does not lose what it has gained through temporary neglect. It simply waits for the moment you turn back inward and begin again. And the beginning is always available today, right now, with the next word you speak over your life.

So let me close with the picture Kenyon painted of the believer who has done this work. Not the believer who had a powerful encounter once. Not the believer who went to a conference and came back on fire for two weeks. The believer who has been quietly, consistently, daily developing their spirit through these five practices until the day comes when the circumstances that once shook them no longer shake them. Kenyon described it this way: "Your spirit can come into vital union with deity and become a partaker of the divine nature, not as a theological position, as a daily lived reality." The spirit so developed, so trained, so consistently fed on the word that it has come into a union with God that makes the physical world's reports almost secondary.

2 Peter 1:4: "Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature." Partakers of the divine nature. That is not language for the spiritually elite. That is the birthright of every born-again believer who will do the work of developing what redemption restored. And the work is simple. It is not glamorous. It does not make headlines. But it produces something that no amount of religious activity without it can produce: a spirit that dominates circumstances, that speaks louder than sense reports, that stands in righteousness without apology, that acts on the word before the senses confirm it, and that lives from the inside out the way God designed from the very beginning. That is who you were always meant to be. Not sense-ruled, spirit-led. Not governed by the report, governed by the word. Not living like Adam after the fall. Living like the new creation redemption made you.

Start today. Not with all five practices at once, with one. Choose the one that speaks most directly to your situation right now and begin there. Practice number one: Renew your mind. Practice number two: Confess your redemption realities. Practice number three: Act on the word before the senses confirm it. Practice number four: Meditate daily. Practice number five: Stand in righteousness consciousness. One practice, one morning, one decision to stop letting your senses lead and start training your spirit to dominate. And watch what begins to happen in your inner man as the weeks become months and the months become a life lived from the inside out, rooted in revelation knowledge, standing in righteousness, and walking in the dominion that has always been yours in Christ.

Type "My spirit dominates my senses" in the comments right now. Not as a wish, as a declaration, as a covenant statement of the reality you are stepping into from this day forward. Your spirit was built to lead. It is time to train it to do exactly that.

Because here is the truth the enemy has worked hardest to hide from you: the senses are loud, but they are not final. They report what exists in the physical realm, but they have no access to what God has already established in the spiritual realm. And the spiritual realm, where your spirit lives, where the word operates, where the promises of God are already fully formed and fully available. That realm is more real than anything your five senses can report. Your spirit knows this. It has always known this. It was recreated with that knowledge built into its very nature. The only thing that has kept you from walking in it is an undeveloped inner man that has never been trained to lead. These five practices change that. One day at a time, one declaration at a time, one meditation at a time, one act of faith before the senses confirm it at a time, until the spirit that was always meant to rule finally does.
