If I had to start from scratch again tomorrow, I definitely wouldn't try to build a business in the first camp. I would try to build a business in the second camp, which is like find some arcane industry that's underserved or some very legacy piece of software out there.
And then, this is if you're starting a software company, if you're starting a non-software company, too. Like, it's just like there are business models out there that work. Copy them and improve them.
