HOW TO QUOTE FOR WINDOW CLEANING

Going to quote this job for cleaning the windows. Now, the old rule of thumb for doing a quotation would be pound per window. Okay, talking 20 years ago when I first started, it used to be around that.

Might want to take into account how difficult they will be to clean. So if they're leaded or Georgian little squares, um they're difficult to get to, if there's a roof in the way. So this job here, um because this is a bigger window above here, we charge two pound for that one. And this one here, so that's four, five, six, seven, eight. So I'd actually probably make the front of this eight.

Um, now if we come around this far side, there's a window here. We're going to charge a pound for that window. Don't forget that. Should we go around the back? It's fairly straightforward. There's nothing really in the way. Um, so we already had £8 for the front. Then I charged £2 probably for this one. £1 each for those. £1 for that one, one pound for that one, two pound for that one. Okay, so that gives us a basic price.

Um, I will also take into account a number of other factors. Okay, so think about whether um I've got any other work nearby. Um, how much are those jobs? Um, if it's in a village, I might be inclined to charge a bit more. If it's further out of town, um that's also a reason to charge a bit more.

Um, whether I'm busy or not, if I'm very busy, I'll be inclined to put in a higher price on the off chance that I wouldn't mind whether I got it or not. If I didn't get it, there's no skin of my nose. If I did get it, it would be another good job to have at a higher price. Um, if it's every other month, so if it's less often, I might be inclined to charge a bit more as well. Areas in the country may vary and price-wise as well. So, uh, there are other things to take into account.

Also, how thorough you're going to be. So, whether you're going to be doing it the traditional way or waterfed pole, um, maybe that would make a difference to you. Um, I tend to sell it to the customer by saying that I'm going to be doing the job particularly thoroughly and being meticulous about the detailing. Um, that often justifies a slightly higher price and the customer usually likes that looking after their domestic property. Um, and taking care looking after the windows.

What did we get? Eight for the front, eight for the back, 16. There's one window on the side there which we nearly forgot about. 17. I'll be inclined to charge a higher price because I'm really busy. Um, and don't forget the rule of thumb, £1 per window is an ancient rule that probably um, prices have gone up a lot since then. So, I'd be inclined to charge 18, 19, even 20, 20 maybe if I was feeling like I wanted to really push my luck. So that's what people go for.

Okay, one last thing. Okay, when I write a quote, I write the quotation out for the customer on um I use the invoices just the same. I cross out invoice and I'll put a quotation um for what I'm going to be doing. Then I put it through the customer's door. Don't forget to also keep a record of it yourself um so you've got it to refer back to and you're not floundering asking the customer um how much you quoted because that would be unprofessional. So keep a record of it yourself and leave the quote for the customer.
