What if I told you I rebuilt my entire life in the middle of COVID, after the tragic death of my brother, and in the middle of a separation which ultimately led to a divorce, and I'm still standing? I'm flourishing. I'm thriving, and I'm surviving. Queens and kings, welcome. I am Nikia Nikki Day, for those that know me, and for those that are going to get to know me. I am an investor. I am a licensed realtor, both in Maryland and DC, a serial entrepreneur, a true definition of a renaissance woman. But I am deeply passionate about financial literacy and building wealth intentionally.

But before we do that, let's journey a little bit into my background. So, when I started in real estate, I actually started as a private money lender before I knew really what that was. I was working with a developer on the West Coast until she didn't need investors. And then I was kind of left to figure out what to do from there. That event actually sparked me to obtain my own real estate license because I wanted to broker my own deals and create my own opportunities. But we'll talk a little bit more about that a little later.
Then I ventured into the multifamily investment space where I actually co-founded a small multifamily investment firm called Paragon Investment Partners with my partner Pam Dorsy back in 2018. And so we were collectively invested in 300 doors, totaling about 11.7 million across three different properties. Now, we currently sit with a portfolio at 148 doors collectively, and mine at 149 because my family and I actually purchased our own family rental about 3 years ago. And that experience is where I actually was introduced to underwriting, the banking system, off-market deals, what the LOL was, private lending, creative finance. I mean, it was a real deep dive into the real estate space, but it was also an awakening into a world of how wealth is built, like through ownerships, partnerships, strategic investing, and the money game. It blew my mind away.
So, as the market shifted and the prices increased, we were kind of squeezed out of the market. Institutional investors came in and kind of priced us out. So, our business model evolved, and so we pivoted into the short-term and midterm corporate rental where we played with that quite a bit. Now, we're kind of focused more on the educational realm. We did quite a bit. We had our own meetup. We've hosted live webinars.
While all of this was going on, I started building my career as a realtor with an investor perspective now to help your everyday buyers and sellers and investors navigate the market with the same methodologies and strategies that we use in the investment space so that everybody could win and use real estate as a wealth-building tool. Something that surprises a lot of people is I feel much of this while I was still maintaining a full-time career, and yes, I'm still a non-tover. I have a couple of businesses, as well as my most important gig is being a mom. Yes, I'm raising my young king Amir, who I affectionately call Sunshine. He is my heart in human form, and you'll hear more about him soon. And I'll also tell you how I built his school to 800 by the time he was 18. Yes, it's a little flat, but that'll be in a later video. But the main point, I am a dual career realtor, which means I've been intentionally building my investments and my businesses and my knowledge all at the same time.
So, on this channel, I'm going to be sharing lessons that I've learned about financial literacy, real estate investing, rebuilding my life after that chewed me up and spit me out, and creating long-term wealth both domestically and internationally. Because the truth is, many of us, we were never taught these things, but once you learn them, they can change the trajectory of your entire life. All right?
