Before his death, Jeffrey Epstein had a partner and it wasn't Keane Maxwell. Meet Karina Shulak, the Barucian woman he was reportedly planning to marry and according to records was Epstein's last phone call before his death in August 2019. Her name appears 45,000 times in the 3 million documents released by the US Department of Justice on January 30th. Yet, she remains far less known than Maxwell.
2 days before his death, Epstein signed the 1953 trust, leaving Shuliac $100 million, including $50 million upfront. The will also granted her a 33 karat diamond ring, 48 more diamonds, as well as various properties, including his New Mexico ranch, his Paris apartment on Avenue Fush, and the famous Little St. James Island. Maxwell, well, she was named too, but for only $10 million.
However, Shulak is unlikely to see that fortune. The US government has frozen the Epstein estate to compensate victims who have already received over $121 million. Documents also show Epstein funded her Columbia University dental studies, helped her family move to the US, and supported her path to citizenship.
But here's the big question. What did she know? Well, a whole lot, it seems. Documents describe Shuliaak as a central figure in Epstein's inner circle, managing his schedule, handling high-profile contacts, having earned her the nickname the inspector. While she has not been charged with any crime, her proximity to Epstein is now raising fresh scrutiny.
Today, little is known about her exact whereabouts. She's believed to be living in New York City and so far prosecutors do not appear to be actively pursuing her even as major questions about her role continue to linger.
