STOP Doing This After You Upload – It Kills Your Views

If you're serious about growing on YouTube, what you do straight after uploading a video is just as important as a video itself. Now, most small YouTubers always make the same mistake after uploading a video. They don't do anything. They hit publish, maybe share the video once, and then hope for the best. But that's why so many videos fail.

Now, there's a reason these four videos got over 4 million views between them. And that's because I have a winning upload strategy. So, in this video, I'm breaking down the exact steps I take after I upload a YouTube video. Now, you might have seen similar videos to this from other gurus before, but here's the thing. Every successful YouTuber has their own upload strategy. Now, the key here is to learn from all of the different experts. Take the best insights from us and then build your own process. So, here's mine.

Now, the very first thing I would suggest you do is something that I've been seeing a lot of bigger creators doing lately. And this is where you reshare your video onto your community tab. Like this here, you can see the channel of Nisha. She's got nearly 2 million subscribers. And if we go into her community tab, you'll see that what she does is when she posts out a new video, she will always repost it onto her community tab, too. But she won't just be like, "Oh, watch my new video here." No. Instead, she'll always add a bit more like information and context surrounding it.

Now, she's not the only one doing this. Ali Abdal does it. Ed Lawrence does it. Katie Steckley, April Altera, the list goes on. But why are they doing this? Well, YouTube is actually making a big push on community tabs right now because this is where the most social interactions happen between viewers and creators. And it's why you might have noticed that I've been creating loads of polls lately and trying to engage with you guys. And YouTube is actively pushing channels that are utilizing their community tabs right now. So when you post out a new video from now on, always repost it on your community tab, too. But when you do, just add a bit more information about the video in the post as well because maybe someone saw your video on the homepage but decided not to click on it at first because they weren't that interested. But reposting it this way allows you to add some more like context on the actual post to draw your viewers in. So give it a go.

All right. So the second thing can only be done around 24 hours after it's been uploaded. And this is where you want to go in and add subtitles for different languages because having subtitles in different languages will help foreign viewers to watch and enjoy your content. which means you'll open up a brand new international market of viewers that will massively expand your reach and your potential audience base. And these international viewers will be much more likely to come back and watch more of your content over time if they can understand you through the subtitles.

So, all you need to do is this. When you've uploaded a video, go into it, click on subtitles down here, and then click on this one. These are basically the captions that YouTube has transcribed automatically from your video. It's all done for you by the algorithm. But this does mean it can often make mistakes. So just give it a quick read and make sure no words are misspelled or missed. And then once you're happy, you can select all these different languages that you can get YouTube to translate this video into. So I would always make sure you choose languages like Hindi for Indians, which is a huge market, Indonesian, another huge market, Filipino, and pretty much like whatever country you have that watches your channel. then you literally have brand new subtitles for a new language all for free and it will help massively in retaining those foreign viewers who want to watch your content but can't fully understand you yet.

All right, so method number three. Now, in a previous video, I spoke about the importance of replying to every single comment you get as a small YouTuber, and that still stands, but I want to upgrade that advice for you and show you how to do it in an even smarter way, because this will actually help your video get pushed out even further. Now, what most people do is they upload a video, then they instantly go down into the comments and reply to every single comment within the first hour. Then, they're done and they forget about it. So instead, here's what I want you to do. Let the first wave of comments come in naturally. And then once a couple of hours have passed, then go down into the comments section and start to reply to people. If you've got like 30 comments and you reply to all of them, you've just turned that 30 comments into 60 comments, like that's double the engagement from the exact same viewers, and it will be a massive engagement boost in the algorithm's eyes.

Now, what I need you to do is actually to try and spark even more conversation or at least try and spark a reply. So, if someone drops a comment, don't just reply, "Oh, thank you." or "Oh, glad you like the video." Reply to them, but in a way that builds even more conversation. And look, if you're a small YouTuber and you're only getting a handful of comments per video, you genuinely have no excuse to not reply to every single one of them. So, the more you can turn just one comment into a full thread of different replies, the better your engagement looks to the algorithm and the more likely YouTube is going to push your videos out to more and more people.

Then, that brings us naturally onto method number four. Pin a comment that actually gets replies. Now, on this video, I got 55,000 different comments. And this pinned comment here got so many replies, YouTube actually turned off the reply feature, so no one else could reply to it. Now, yes, this video did go viral, but that was partly down to how much engagement I got in the comment section. And this is something that most small YouTubers completely waste. So, my advice, yes, you should always be wanting to pin a comment under every single video. But what you pin is a difference between getting five comments and 5,000 comments.

Now, most people either pin a random comment or they'll pin a boring go and watch my other video here comment and wonder why no one cares and no one responds. You should only ever pin a comment that says, "Go and watch my other video here." on older videos that have already gone through the growth phase. But for every new video you post, I want you to start using your pinned comment as a conversation starter. So, here's what I mean. Your pinned comment should be something that's super easy to answer. It should be open-ended, so people can't just reply yes or no. And it should be directly related to the video itself. And the key is do not make people think too hard. If they have to sit there and come up with some clever answer, they won't bother. But if it's a simple personal question, they'll reply instantly. And once a few people start to reply, even more people will join in. It's like a snowball effect. And every reply under your pinned comment is an extra engagement signal to YouTube. So from now on, don't just pin any comment. Pin a question your viewers can't resist not replying to.

Then the next thing you need to do is connect your shorts to your brand new long form video, too. Now, we know that shorts are a cheat code for getting your content in front of thousands of new people. And YouTube obviously now lets you link your shorts directly to specific videos. So, here's what I would do. every single time you make a new video and post out, you then need to clip up that video into multiple different shorts and then upload these shorts and link every single one of those new shorts back to that long form video. Now, if you want to speed this process up, just drop your video into an AI tool like Nexus Clips. It will automatically cut five different virus shorts for you in seconds. And then all you need to do is upload these shorts to YouTube and link them to your new video. That way, from just one long form video, you've now posted like five extra pieces of content that drive viewers straight to your channel.

Okay, then. Now, this one is super basic and pretty self-explanatory. And I assume that most of you will probably already have heard of this before, but just in case you haven't, once you post a new video out, I want you to go into all of your old videos and link those old videos to your new one. And there are three main places you can do this. Number one, the description. Number two, the pinned comment. And number three, end screens. So what I would do on the older videos that have already gone through their growth period is write in the description something like if you enjoy this video give this new video watch on titles and thumbnails next and then include the link to that new video. Now your videos won't be about titles and thumbnails. So just include the topic of your new video in there and then also copy that and put it as a pinned comment of that video too. And then finally you can also go into the end screens of each video and update it so it shows your most recent upload at the end. Again, this is a great way of linking older videos that are still pulling in some views to your new video, and I promise you, it will help boost your views massively.

All right, now this one is a really quick and easy one, but again, because it's so quick and so easy, I still see so many people forget to do this. But when you post out a new video, you always need to make sure you link it to a relevant playlist. And if you haven't yet created a playlist, you're going to need to do it ASAP. Now, I've got four different playlists I use here. So, if I post out a new video, I go down here and always select the playlist it relates to. Now, this massively helps in getting the algorithm to suggest this new video to the right people first time, and it's going to help you too.

Now, for the final thing to do, and honestly, this is probably the most effective thing on this entire list is get brutally honest feedback. Now, this is something that barely any small YouTubers actually take seriously, even though it can genuinely fasttrack your growth more than anything else on this list because when you finished editing your video, you might rewatch it. But apart from being able to notice like any obvious mistakes, this exercise is pretty useless because you're biased. What you need is fresh eyes. So, after you upload a video, I want you to show people who will actually give you the truth. Not just, "Oh, yeah, that was pretty good." But honest, brutal, and constructive feedback that actually helps you improve. You need to ask people things like, "Would you click on this thumbnail? Did any part of this video feel slow or confusing? Is there anything you would cut or change? And did this video make you want to watch more?" The more brutally honest feedback you get, the faster your content will improve. And the faster your content improves, the faster your channel grows. It's as simple as that.

But look, I know that most of you guys don't actually have other creators around you. Most of you are creating alone, so there's no one to ask, no one to review your videos, and no one who truly understands YouTube. But that's exactly why I built the YouTube Love Academy in the first place. Inside of the academy, we have hundreds of creators, all different niches, all different skill levels, sharing their videos, giving each other feedback. They improve their titles, their thumbnails, their intros, the hooks, everything. is one of the most valuable parts of the entire program. You'll get real feedback from real creators, including me and my feedback. And all these guys are trying to grow just like you. There's no egos, there's no judgment, just people trying to help each other win. So, if you want a place where you can literally post any of your videos in our community tab and get honest, actionable feedback within minutes. And if you actually want a group of creators who actually care about your success, then join us inside of the YouTube Wealth Academy. And as a thank you for reaching it to the end of this video, use code 24 hours for $100 off. Link is in the description below. But if you're not yet ready to invest in yourself, that's fine. YouTube thinks that this video here is the perfect one for you to watch next. sick give it a try.
