In a world where everyone is searching for identity, we find ours in the gospel of Jesus Christ. It is found in the truth. And this is where we find our peace.
Now we can go back to John 14:27 because we find our peace and our identity. Christ says, "Peace I leave with you. My peace I give unto you, not as the world giveth give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." And so if we find our identity in Christ, in which we can and do in the presence of God, we find peace because we begin to stop worrying about things. We understand that certain things are settled and that we don't have to work and strive to do all of this stuff that is already done. Come on, y'all. That is the good news. That is the good news of Jesus Christ.
All right. Point number two, y'all like good gracious. Point number two. Point number two. All right. So the fruit of the spirit, the fruit of the spirit, as we know in Galatians 5:22 through 23, a fruit of the spirit is peace, right? Being in the presence of the Lord, just coming into his presence, embracing the Holy Spirit. There's peace. There's peace. The person embracing the person of the Holy Spirit. A fruit of the spirit that dwells in us, of the presence of God that dwells in us, is peace. Let's talk about it. Galatians 5:22 through 23: "But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness. Verse 23: gentleness and self-control. Against such there is no law." And so while all these amazing things are the fruit of his presence, the fruit of his spirit, I think we really need to lock in in this place because what we need, the love, the joy, the peace, the forbearance, the kindness, right? Our society is lacking kindness, the goodness, the faithfulness. And I just want to go back to the love. The love that we need to receive from God, the love that we need to show ourselves, the love that we need to show others. All of that is the fruit, is the evidence of his presence. Man, that's a beautiful thing. And you may be saying, "Okay, Darn, how do I get this peace?" Give your life to Christ. All right. Give your life to Christ. Come into the presence of the Lord and just surrender your life. Just completely surrender yourself. And seek him daily. Seek him daily. Renew your mind with the truth. Renew your mind daily with the truth. Check out Romans 12:1-2. Stand on those scriptures and renew your mind in the word. What does renew your mind daily mean? Get into the word and see what it says about you. And then when obstacles arise, stand on the word because that's your reality.
All right. All right. So, we're almost done, y'all. We're almost done. Point number three. And we're going to land the plane. Point number three: In the presence of God, Jesus is revealed, right? When we really come into the presence of God, parts of Jesus that we didn't even know about before, his love, his mercy, his kindness, his patience, he's just revealed in a way that can really bring you to your knees in tears because it's so beautiful and we don't deserve it. But he died so that we could have a savior. So that we could be in right relation with God. So that we could have peace between us and the Father. And so this peace isn't just between us and the Father. It is now peace that we can have within ourselves, knowing that everything that's going on in our lives right now, God has made provision for it in Christ Jesus. The scripture tells us in Ephesians, I believe it's like 1 and 4, I could be wrong, that he has given us everything that we need for life and godliness. And so we have every single thing that we need in Christ Jesus to live this life in Christ, to live this life and still be godly people, right? And so we don't have to lie and steal and do all these other things, but that we have all that we need in Christ Jesus.
Listen, and if we can be honest, there are some things that we need to repent of that just wasn't like him. And so repent, right? And shoot, I repent because everything that we need is in Christ Jesus. And so we don't have to do things that's not like Christ because everything that we need is in him. And so we have to literally come to him. And I'm repenting because I'm acknowledging that I didn't depend on him in some areas. And because he's my source, y'all getting this in real time. I should have depended on him. And so I'm acknowledging that and I'm choosing in this moment, really, to depend on him and to do things differently. All right. Now, I ain't saying that I went out here and stole some stuff and did all that. That's not what I'm saying. But it's in the little things. And maybe that's you right there. There is no judgment. But you know, in the little things where we could try to do things in our own strength and in our own might. But the beautiful thing about being in the presence of the Lord is that when we get in his presence, we see the spirit of Christ. The Holy Spirit shows us that there's provision, right? He'll begin to give us ideas and excuse me, will begin to lay on people's hearts the things that we need. He'll begin to open up doors for us that were probably previously shut, right? Previously shut. Because everything that we need is in him.
I do want to make this point as well. I know we're getting short on time. Scholars have an understanding of Jesus, but without the spirit of Christ, we don't know him. All right? And so that's why you see in a lot of Bible schools, in a lot of seminary schools, they have a lot of book knowledge, but they don't know Jesus, right? They have a lot of word, but they don't have no power of his presence, right? Thank you, Jesus. They have a lot of theology and Greek and Hebrew and Aramaic, and they've got all of the historical context of the Bible, but they don't know the one who came and saved them from their sins. All right? And it's the Holy Ghost, the person of the Holy Ghost, that we come to really embrace Jesus, right? That we can really embrace all that God has done. I read the scripture John 15:26: "But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, he will testify of me." And so the Holy Spirit comes and he testifies of Jesus. He brings you to a place of knowing that you're complete, that you aren't broken, that, yeah, that relationship might not have worked out, but you're still whole. Right? Wholeness is your identity, right? Things may not have worked out with your child's mother, or I don't know who I'm talking to, or things like that. But you're still whole. You're still complete. This situation, this circumstance doesn't define you. You are still who God says that you are, with nothing missing in you, nothing lacking in you in the spirit. You are just who he says that you are. And when you get into the word, now you can get into the truth of what he says that you are. And then the Holy Spirit, because he testifies of Jesus, he'll begin to bring the word to life in a way that it is life to you. And as you begin to read the word, your mind begins to change, and your reality begins to change, your perspective begins to change. And everything about you begins to change while in prayer and in worship.
The purpose of the Holy Spirit, I'm going to say this again, is to reveal Jesus. In the presence of God, when you really embrace the beauty of his presence, Jesus is revealed. The person who says, "I give you my peace." Peace is revealed in the presence of God. There's a scripture, I can't think of it now, but he's called the Lord of peace. Let's go over here really quickly, and we'll get ready to land the plane. Ephesians 1:17-18. I don't have this one in here, but we can pull it up really quickly. Ephesians 1:17-18 is a beautiful scripture. It says, "I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation so that you may know him better." And this is Paul as he was writing to the church in Ephesus. Verse 18 says, "I pray that the eyes of your heart be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people." This is a beautiful scripture, and if we really had time, we could really dive into it even more. But Paul is praying to God that they may have the spirit of wisdom and revelation to know him better. So he's praying that the Holy Spirit would give the people wisdom and revelation of who he is, of who Jesus is, right? That their heart would be enlightened. And you may be saying, "Well, what does enlightened mean?" I had to look up the Greek word for that. Understanding the Greek word, it's *fotizo*. And that's actually where we get our word for photograph or for photo from. We get it from this word called *fotizo*, and that means to make to see, to give understanding, or to instruct. And so Paul is literally here saying, "Lord, open up their hearts so that they can see you. So that they will have wisdom and revelation to know you better. So that they would know their inheritance as your holy people. So that they would know who they are in you, right? So that they wouldn't walk as people who are bankrupt, but they would walk as the lenders and not the borrowers, right? So that they would walk above and not beneath."
And I pray even in this moment that the Holy Spirit would just open up your eyes to the love of Christ, man, to his forgiveness. Thank you, Jesus. That even in the midst of heartache and heaviness, he gives you the garments of praise. Scripture says for the spirit of heaviness. That his love is that you aren't too far that his love cannot reach you. Even to the one who says, "Look, I was walking with Christ for a while, but you know, now I'm just kind of doing my thing, but I'm here. I'm back." Bible says this: "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life." Listen, his love is still there. He still loves you. He wants to enlighten you. He wants to reveal himself to you in a way that you can see him clearly. Thank you, Jesus. Thank you, Jesus. And even in the midst of what you're going through, the more Jesus is revealed, the more of his peace is revealed. And I'm crazy enough to say this. I'm crazy enough to believe this: that if the fruit of the spirit is peace, that means that you can't bear fruit if you aren't first that yourselves, right? And so an apple tree can't bear an orange if it's an apple tree, right? And so the spirit can't bear fruit in us if it's not first peace, right? Because scripture says that God is the Lord of peace. The Holy Spirit is the Lord. And so we know that as Jesus is revealed, I'll say it like this, that as Jesus is revealed, the person of peace is also revealed. However you need it, however you want it. The person of peace is also revealed.
And we'll end right here. To know that I have peace. Say this out loud. We'll make this a declaration: "I have peace with God. I have peace with myself as I have received the peace of Christ. And I choose to have peace with others." In Jesus' name.
Listen, y'all, this was an amazing night. An amazing night of peace. I'm super excited for you and how you'll really walk out and walk in. Embrace the peace of God, man. The peace that you can have. So much peace that it'll just blow your mind. It won't make no sense how much peace you got. May we all experience that and continue to experience a peace that blows our mind, a peace that says, "In the midst of everything, God, I depend on you." And so I just want to encourage you that if you don't have peace, we've prayed to receive the peace of Christ by faith. But to also walk in everything that God has done for you, to really get into the word, know who you are in Christ, and allow him to really be your peace in the midst of a storm, in the midst of you confronting your trauma, in the midst of you not even acknowledging your trauma, he can still be your peace. Why? Because he'll begin to expose the lies of your trauma, right? His love will snatch down every lie and every accusing spirit and all the pain and the hurt. His love will just come in and just heal and deliver you, and he'll embrace you in such a way that you can't deny it. Man, Jesus loves you. The beauty of his presence. The beauty of his presence.
