One, welcome and thank you for joining me today. I have a very special guest. You're watching the Marketplace Network, of course. This is Prophetic Spotlight, and I'm telling you, I've got the prophet for us today. He's coming all the way from the state of Washington. Who else am I talking about? The Prophet himself, Prophet Chad. Thank you so much for joining us today on this special program.
Yeah, thank you for having me, Dr. Ken. Can I say one thing real quick? I misspoke prophetically. I saw you writing books, and I know you're not a publisher yet, but I got that's right. I did a couple of zooms earlier, so I was in that zone. So please forgive me if I misled anybody or said anything out of line. You're not a published author yet, but we do do books, you know that. We'll help you with that. But sorry about all that. But I get so excited when I see the future on somebody that's a great teacher like you are. And I know you're going to be coming out to see us and do more programs, and we have some churches lined up for you. So, what have you got for our audience today? Help us, teach us.
Okay, well, I've got, you know, I'm all about the body this year. We know that there's been prophetic words, like we spoke last session about this move of God this year, this year of blessing, this year of restoration, this year of going next level. And so I felt like the Lord wanted us to go back to the basics. And before I do that, I just want to share my heart a little bit with everybody out there. I want them to know I am for them. I'm coming alongside of them. I want to be an encourager. I want to help in any way I can. And guess what? I've even got better news, Dr. Ken. There is somebody greater than me called the Paraclete in Greek, which is the Holy Spirit, that is the comforter that comes alongside of them, that does comfort them, that does lead them into all truth. He's there, and he wants to work with you, and he is cheering you on. He is cheering you on out there.
So, as we get into this teaching, I just, I really feel like the Lord wants us to go back to the basics. We're at the beginning of the new year. And so, just like a good sports team, what do they start out with? They make sure that the team has the basics down, and then they go on into a winning season. And God wants you out there winning for him, winning for him, bringing glory to Jesus. So, as you see on this slide that we have up, at the beginning of this year, I think the Lord wants us, just like good sports teams do before they start the season, is to get back to the basics. Make sure we've got that taken care of. And if we're going to use a basketball type of analogy, you know, he doesn't want us right now throwing the three-pointers. We can, we can toss up the three-pointers and swish into the hoop and make those three-pointers for him, but he wants us learning how to and make sure that we have covered layups, as an example.
Now, is that a prophetic word for the Lakers? They're gonna start making three-pointers? I'm not sure. I don't really follow sports. And especially, well, they're not really that good. The Lakers aren't doing this. And I love them. I live and die for the Lakers, been watching them for 40 years. Three-pointers were tough to hit. But for them, for whatever reason, I thought it was a prophetic word I was going to receive it for. I'm sorry.
All right, so let's dive into this, everyone. Let's dive into this basic stuff. Now, I want to throw out to you what I call the Nicodemus principle. If we go to John 3, you'll see that this is one of the leaders of the Sanhedrin, a teacher actually of Israel, coming to Jesus in the nighttime because he really doesn't want to be seen by the other leadership that he actually believes that Jesus has come from God. And they have this conversation. Jesus tells him, unless you're born again, you cannot enter the kingdom of God. And so Nicodemus is struggling with this teaching that that Jesus has just shared with him. You know, Jesus tells him, that which is born of the flesh is of the flesh, but that which is born of the spirit is the spirit. And he says, Aren't you a teacher of Israel, and you don't understand these things? How can I teach you deeper things if we don't know the basics? Right? So we're back to the basics here, people. And we're going to just make sure you have clarity in this area. Maybe some of this will be new for you. I'm going to pause and take comments from Dr. Ken as we work through some of these principles and some of these words from the original language that's been translated into our Bible. In fact, that's what this slide shows here. You know, our Bibles were written, the New Testament in Greek, our Old Testament was originally written in Hebrew, and there is a Greek version called the Septuagint. So that's where we're moving, everyone.
Now, I have an agenda, but I don't think we're going to get through it all today. I'm hoping that we can get through what I've proposed to get through, but I hope to get through that portion. So this will probably be a two-part teaching. So hang in there with us, guys. You're gonna love this. So let's start with words. Now, people don't recognize this, but words actually bring up images in our minds to help understand things. You know, I put a fork, a spoon, a knife up there. Um, we, without even consciously thinking about it, we associate a word picture in our mind when words are used. And so this is very important because sometimes words can mean different things to different people depending on their life experiences. And so you'll see that as we get into this teaching when I'm talking about.
So let's start off right here and let everybody know I'm not a language expert, okay? I'm not a language expert. I can work a little bit through the languages, but here's the good news for all of you out there. You don't have to be language experts either. With a little bit of knowledge, you can start diving into these words in the Bible because we have so many tools available to us in this modern age that you yourself, with a little bit of knowledge in the languages, can actually go and mine out gold for yourself. But the words that I'm going to be using, we even have an easier tool. You can Google with the words I'm going to show you. Google the words I'm going to show you, and you will see the meanings.
So here's the basics. I want to walk through the concept of justification, the concept of sanctification, definition of sin, definition of law that's used in our Bible. I think that's as far as we're going to get today. So we'll have to see how it goes. Now, as I start working through these concepts, I'm going to ask Dr. Ken to give in some of his insight and comments on this with us. So the concept of justification. Now, this whole thing about justification and sanctification, I even struggled with clarity on these topics, even when I was a teacher evangelist in the Assembly of God. I really didn't have a good grasp on it. So my goal is that you guys get a really good grasp on this so that you can really move forward in the Lord. That's what I want to see. I want to see everybody win. I'm right there beside you, but more importantly, the Holy Spirit is right there beside you. He's going to lead you into all truth and he's going to carry you forward for a winning season this year.
So justification, we need to understand this is basically salvation. It's a one-time act of salvation. It's not based on anything that we do, but it's a complete and finished work of God, and it's done through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Any comments, Ken?
Dr. Ken: Well, my two cents would be, I love where you're going with this. I'm so excited you're doing this and breaking it down. And I don't want to take up your time, but okay, salvation, when you look it up in Hebrew, it could be 30 different things. It's, you'll have to Google it. But I'm asking the audience, when you Google, just look at the words, but read the Bible. Now, watch this. Be careful what version you're looking at. I'm not saying one's better than another. There's 1,700 translations. My tip would be, and I look at 10, but I'll give you five. I would always look at the Easy-to-Read, why? Because it's easy to read, it's more updated, modern. The second one I would look at is the CEB, that's the Common English Bible. The third is God's Word. The fourth is the Amplified, and the fifth is The Message. Here, what I'm about to say, The Message is written for children. That doesn't mean that you're not mature enough to see that, but I love what you said, Prophet, with the Holy Spirit, it will interpret. And you have to meditate. Hear me. If you'll meditate on the word, God will reveal what it means to you, and it'll be part of you, and you can teach it. For an example, if you'll meditate hard enough on the healing scriptures, Proverbs 4:21 says, the words are for healing, so they will heal your bones. And some translations, they heal the flesh. And other translations. So these are really powerful principles. I take my hat off to you, sir, for doing this. Keep going.
Thank you. So again, this justification thing is a one-time event. Let's make sure we understand that. God gives us a new heart when we have this one-time experience, being born from above. God actually gives us a new heart, takes out a heart of stone, and he puts in a heart of flesh that he can work with. So what happens is, when this takes place, we can begin to see things from a heavenly perspective. I remember when I got saved, boy, they had these Bible studies the day prior, and I'm trying hard. I mean, I consider myself a decently smart person, and I'm trying to understand. I can't understand. I'm getting a headache because I'm trying so hard. I couldn't understand. But that night, when I received the Lord, boom, the scriptures started opening up for me. So we start seeing things from a heavenly perspective. And what does that do? It provides this pathway of a new journey, an exciting journey. Hold on, it's a new and exciting journey that we're gonna live out our lives, and which I like to call, we're going to start living out the kingdom culture. We're going to move away from the culture of this era, the culture of this world, and we're moving into kingdom culture. This is the New Covenant. So justification is the born-again experience. This is all about the New Covenant. This is where God puts his word, which is his law, within us and writes it on our hearts. The real difference between the Old Testament and the New Testament is the Old Testament is written on stone. The New Testament, or the New Covenant, he writes it on our hearts. His word is written on our hearts. So we're going to get into the definition of the Hebrew word that's translated law in a moment, but we're going to move forward here with this. This is the New Covenant. So we're just wrapping up here with justification. This is the New Covenant. It's a one-time event. We're being born again. We're being born of God's spirit, and it's a complete and finished work through Jesus. So let's grab a hold of that.
Now, we're going to move on to sanctification. So sanctification is a different work of the Holy Spirit once we become saved. So it's once we become saved, then boom, sanctification is enacted at that point. So sanctification is an interrelated, one-time, well, sanctification is interrelated to the one-time event of salvation, but they're different. The one-time event actually changes the nature that we have in us. And I'm going to get into this. We actually become a new creation in Christ. So I'm still a little bit on justification, but we are moving into sanctification here because what happens is, by nature, we were sinners. What do I mean by that? We were unable to please God. We can try in the flesh all we want to try to please God and try to walk in his ways. It can happen because we have this area in our heart that needs the spirit of God to fill. But once through the spiritual birth from above, and the spirit of God enters our spirit, and we are one with God's spirit, that's when we're given this new nature. And this is this thing that I've got highlighted in red is so important for people to understand. I don't hear it a lot in the churches, but grab hold of this, especially for new believers. We're no longer sinners once we've been born from above. We're no longer have that sin nature. We are now a new creation. We are saints. In the Greek, it's hagios. We're actually holy ones. That's who we are on the inside. It just has to come out. This is the work of sanctification. So again, people, if you have accepted Jesus, you're not a sinner. Hear what I'm saying. So when you fall or you trip up, because we're all coming out of deep holes, you know, and God is raising us up, you're not a sinner. You're actually doing something that's against the nature that you have in you because you're a saint, you're a holy one, and you're sinning against your new nature. Do you have anything to add to that, Dr. Ken?
Dr. Ken: I think you want to roll. Keep going.
Okay, I'll keep rolling. So sanctification is going to be this lifelong process of growing into a lifestyle and a mindset of Jesus with the help of the Holy Spirit that now indwells us in our spirit man. I'm giving you scriptures that are referencing this so you can go to it. You know, we're not to be conformed unto this world, but be transformed in the renewing of our mind. That's Romans 12:2. I didn't even put it up there, but what I want you to know, that's growing into the mindset of Christ. Such a powerful thing. We need to know to separate the two. Justification, one-time event. Sanctification is a process of growing in him, allowing who we are inside with the cooperation of the Holy Spirit to allow it to come out, that we start acting and operating like Jesus. And we're going to take it to the streets.
So when we're working with Paul in his writings, the Apostle Paul, he's always using the word righteousness. But because we don't find sanctification necessarily a lot in the Bible, in our New Testament, and we don't find justification, these are concepts. But Paul writes about righteousness. And the important thing to understand when you read Paul and you're looking at a word righteousness in our Bibles, we need to take a look at the context of where it's found. I want you to ask the question, are we talking about judicial righteousness, which is salvation, which is a one-time event? Is that what Paul is talking about? Or are we talking about sanctification, which is this process, which is in terms of practical righteousness? Because Paul, and even the rabbis when they write righteousness, they don't talk and say, they don't give us the formula for practical righteousness, or they don't give us the formula for judicial righteousness where we're found, you know, forgiven of all in him. They don't, they don't put that word in front of it. So we have to read the context of which the word is found to understand what's being talked about there.
So, you know, even Peter warns us when we're working with Paul's writings, they're difficult to understand at times. So be careful with Paul's writings and make sure we're reading things within its context. And as you do, and you ask that question, guess what? Remember what I told you at the beginning, you have a Paraclete, the Holy Spirit. He leads you into all truth. So he'll help you through this. Just ask the question, take a good look at where it's given in the context, and you will see new things. And we're going to grow, people. We're going to grow together. We're going to move forward in Jesus this year.
So I've got about five minutes here. I'm watching the timer. Definition of sin. Now, sin can be kind of an obscure thing, but I want to make it very tangible for us. So when we go to the original languages, things sometimes become very tangible for us, very something that we can grasp easily. Remember putting that image in our mind? And so in the Hebrew, the most common word used for sin is *chata*, and in the Greek, it's *hamartia*. So both of these words mean to miss the mark. So picture this, you're an archer, you're pulling back, you're shooting, you're trying to hit that bullseye, and guess what? We missed the mark. This is what the actual word means. And what is that mark? The mark is God's righteousness, his ways. And a lot of times we miss it, even as believers, we miss it. We're going to get into this a little bit, you know, because we're never without sin. And sin is defined in First John 1:4. And I think it's best to read it in the King James version, as the doctor mentioned, there's versions out there that help us see little things a little maybe a little easier. Sometimes the King James version is good for people, and I like it here. What it says, it says, "For whoever commits sin transgresses also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law." So I'm going to give you a word picture here. It's going to be beautiful. You'll love it. Check it out. Here we are, we're the archer, we're shooting at this bullseye, we're trying to hit that yellow in the bullseye. That's where God wants us. That's God's best. And we're shooting, and sin is just to miss that mark, to miss that bullseye.
We've got about three minutes. Prophet, would you mind, because of the time, would you, because we'll have you back in two weeks, could you pray? Pray for the people for time's sake, and we'll pick this up with the effects of sin, right?
Let me wrap this up with the effects of sin because I think people need to understand that sin is hurtful. Sin causes injury to ourselves. It causes injury to people around us. And depending on the type of sin, it can even damage society. It can damage a nation. It can damage the world. So God, God wants us on this pathway called sanctification to start bringing us out of this stuff and conforming us into His image. So I'm going to stop right here, as Dr. Ken has asked me, and I'm just going to pray now. I hope you guys will tune in for part two because I want to cover the law. You're going to be very surprised at what that meaning is, and then we're going to move into some really good things as believers. And so next time I'm on, please tune in.
Father, we just thank you for this teaching. I'm feeling your spirit upon me, Father. We just thank you for this teaching, God. We're so thankful, Jesus. We're so, so thankful that you sent the Paraclete, the Holy Spirit, to come alongside of us, to be there with us, to comfort us, to teach us, to encourage us, Lord. Father, we just thank you for this. Anybody out there that needs encouragement, Lord, we just ask and pray that you would encourage them now. Put faith into their heart. Put hope into their heart. This is going to be a year of winning, people. Winning. I want you to just take that to your spirit. Stay tuned to my teachings, and I guarantee you, you'll be winning this year with God. You'll be restored if you need restoring. If you're stuck and you need to be unstuck and move forward, you'll be moving forward, and you'll be moving to the next level in Jesus, and you'll be doing mighty things for God. God is going to take you to a place where it's even unexpected for you. You won't even believe where you'll be at the end of the year. Stick with me, people.
