Donald Trump is so terrified of these upcoming midterms that not only is he actively trying to cancel them right now, but he is trying to overturn the elections of the past, and I'm not just talking about the presidential election that he lost that has haunted him ever since.
But Donald Trump is trying to remove two sitting US senators. You heard me correctly. That is Donald Trump's plan and that is what he is going to announce Thursday night. This is a five alarm fire and anyone who is not meeting this moment with rightful outrage is failing and should not be in our politics. People who aren't calling out this corruption, this self-deing, this selfserving, how Donald Trump is clearly putting together his paramilitary army in ICE to intimidate and kill Americans across the country so they can serve him in the midterms. If you're not willing to call them out, you are failing.
But there is a reason that Donald Trump is going after these two senators. And it's not just because Georgia hurt him in 2020. But it's because OAF, Senator John Oaf is saying things like this. I want to hear what he had to say because it was what has Donald Trump so outraged. It has him shutting down the Senate. And reportedly, he's going to try to kick these two out. Oaf and Waro. But let's start with John.
>> Donald spent Saturday complaining on the internet. Listen to this. 6 hours, 52 posts. The president attacked the Pope. He posted his own face on Mount Rushmore and a madeup Trump Peace Prize. He announced three times America's back. And he assured an increasingly concerned public he's in excellent health. >>
And when not posting, he's been trying to rob us. Have you seen it? >> He sued the US government he commands for $10 billion. Then he settled the suit with himself to create a $1.8 billion slush fund so he can cut checks to cronies and Jan 6 foot soldiers. The same men who sacked the capital to seize the presidency for Donald Trump, who beat police officers with flag poles, built a gallows on the Capitol lawn, and hunted the vice president to lynch him. Donald Trump's brown shirts. He pardoned him, and now he wants you to pay him. He's trying to put his face on the money. Did you see that? >> He's building a monument to himself. >> But see, Atlanta, he's doing these things now because no one will honor him when he's gone. because he's a failed president and a national disgrace. >>
This is exactly how every single Democrat should sound. And if you don't, let's be honest, you should not be doing the job. You need to be talking about the corruption. You need to be talking about the self-deing within the Trump family. You need to be talking about the cognitive decline. You need to be talking about the fact that Donald Trump is so out of it that the 25th Amendment needs to be invoked. And it's the reason that Senator Oaf has been so successful. It's the reason that a lot of people are talking about him as a 2028 contender. And what does that mean? Besides the fact that there might be a couple of great Democrats running for president in 2028, it means we're talking about a presidential election in 2028. And that scares the [ __ ] out of Donald Trump because it means he's not going to be a part of it. if his Republican party is moving on, if Democrats are fielding young, dynamic candidates, Donald Trump is worried about losing the one thing that he believes is keeping him alive, and that is the White House. And so, he made a a big announcement today. I want to start with that and then get into the reporting about it. Donald Trump, he says, speaking in the third person for some reason, will be making a speech to the nation on Thursday evening at 900 p.m. Eastern. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Now, usually I would roll my eyes at an announcement like this, considering last time Donald Trump delivered a a speech to the nation. Um, it was him saying a whole bunch of nothing, sounding tired, out of it, slurring his words. But that was until I got to this reporting today that Senator John Oaf responded to news on this speech that Donald Trump is planning on giving. Donald Trump is planning to announce that Georgia's two senators, John Oaf and Raphael Waro, are illegitimate because of fraud. A well-placed source in Georgia tells us. Announcement could come as soon as tonight, but it is maybe what Donald Trump is teeing up for his Thursday speech as he continues to lie about election fraud.
Now, the reason that I am taking this reporting seriously is because Senator John Oaf responded and said, "Donald Trump's spiral continues." The failed president, pocketing billions as he drives up prices, is afraid to lose the midterms. So, he will reheat debunked election conspiracy theories and tell bizarre new lies to try to deny his 2020 defeat and attack voting rights. This is a disaster for Donald Trump's puppet, Mike Collins. Already mired in scandal, Mike will now have to double down on conspiracy theories toxic in the general election. From the start, Donald Trump's obsession with Georgia elections revealed his fury that black voters were instrumental to his defeat. I'm asking concerned citizens nationwide to join me and support our voter protection efforts in Georgia. This is how we should all be responding. Making it clear why Donald Trump is doing this right now. And it's what I've talked about consistently with the Save America Act. Maybe Donald Trump will actually go forward with trying to remove John Oaf and Raphael Waro from the United States Senate. But has Donald Trump seen much success in the Senate lately? He can't even get his Save America Act passed. And so why is Donald Trump talking about election conspiracies again? Why is he bringing up debunked claims? Why is he denying the results in of an election that was 6 years ago? It is because Donald Trump doesn't actually want to do anything. And this is an important point. Sure, he will send ICE to the polls. Donald Trump will do everything he can to lie about elections, to dissuade people from turning out, to physically intimidate people with violence. but he doesn't actually want to get any real voter suppression passed. Sure, Republicans have found as many ways as possible to target black voters, but Donald Trump knows that if he passed his quote on quote unquote Save America Act, it would actually hurt Republican voters more than Democrats. What Donald Trump wants to do is to point to something after his loss and say that is the reason that I didn't win. And he will come up with anything. He'll say it's because the Save America Act wasn't passed. He'll say because of voter fraud in Georgia in 2020. Remember after the shootings, the killings by ICE in Minneapolis that Pam Bondi said, "We will let these agents leave. We will make these agents leave if you hand over your voter roles." And then Cash Patel and Tulsi Gabbard went down to Georgia and demanded their voter roles. Same thing was happening out in California. Donald Trump just wants to get his hands on enough phony evidence and [ __ ] to say, "Hey, I don't trust these results, so maybe we just don't count them." And right now, we have Mike Johnson and we have John Thoon in charge. Maybe they push back. This was a trial run. All of this is a trial run to keep Donald Trump in power in 2028 because that is ultimately what matters most to him. He doesn't care about the House or the Senate. He doesn't care if some, you know, difficult district Republican or purple state Republican loses the House or the Senate and it doesn't matter to them. Donald Trump wants himself to stay in power. So, this is all a trial run. And if you're not paying attention or talking about it, you're failing at doing your job, which is why I was surprised to see Jake Tapper of all people say this on his show. Do a little monologue today.
In our politics lead, President Trump has made some big claims about rights given us in the first amendment to the US Constitution. The freedom of speech and yes, the freedom of the press. >> We want uh total freedom of the press. That's very important to me. It's more important to me than anybody would believe. If we don't have free speech, then we just don't have a free country. It's as simple as that. >>
Well, Mr. First Amendment has turned out to be anything but. We have seen the president target free speech. Jimmy Kimmel and Steven Colbear come to mind, but his disdain for freedom of the press is even more direct. Doesn't go through oligarchs. Friday, the Trump Justice Department took the outrageous step of subpoenaing four New York Times journalists after their report on safety concerns over the president's Qatar gifted Air Force One plane. Then today, President Trump's defense secretary announced a joint task force with the Justice Department to quote, "Identify and prosecute leakers." >> To leak sensitive national defense information and secrets betrays the men and women who wear our nation's uniform. Leaked information risks lives. >>
That's a good point. I know of one leak that put our brave pilots at risk. Secretary Hackseth, you might want to read this. P Pentagon Inspector General report from 2025. Quote, "Evaluation of the Secretary of Defense's reported use of a commercially available messaging applicate and quote, Secretary Hegsth's actions created a risk to operational security that could have resulted in failed US mission objectives and potential harm to US pilots," unquote. So, Mr. Trump, if you're concerned about leaks within your government, have at it. I got it. There's a guy right there named Haggath. But going after reporters, it's just downright unamerican. And it's just the latest in a string of deeply concerning escalations. The White House barred associated press reporters from Air Force One and Oval Office meetings because the AP did not change their style to call the Gulf of Mexico the Gulf of America. Remember, the AP is read all over the world, and we're the only ones that call it the Gulf of America. The Pentagon tried to impose broad restrictions on reporters, barring them from the building if they didn't agree to them. Both restrictions have been challenged in court. President Trump personally has filed civil lawsuits against many media organizations for reporting he says is false, including against ABC, CBS, CNN, the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, the BBC. He cut funding for public radio stations, NPR, and for public television PBS for being quote radical left monsters that so badly hurt our country unquote. This January, the FBI executed a search warrant of a Washington Post reporter's home over a leak investigation. And in May, the president called reporters treasonous for doing our jobs. >> We've had a total victory except by people like you that don't write the truth. You know, you should write I actually think it's sort of treasonous what you write, but you and the New York Times and CNN, I would say, are the worst. >> He said that just a few minutes ago, by the way, in the Oval Office.
Soon, senators are going to be voting on the attorney general nomination of Todd Blanch. Todd Blanch, the acting head of the Justice Department. Clearly, part of this assault on the press. This administration believes in pardoning January 6 extremists who beat up police officers while they subpoena journalists for doing our jobs. Is the Senate about to sanction this crackdown? We're watching. So is history. Jake Tapper, who refuses to talk about Donald Trump's cognitive decline, his health crisis. Jake Tapper who told the president, "Oh dear leader, sir, good sir, I want to be so normal for you, sir. Barry Weiss, don't fire me when the Ellison's take over CNN." Jake Tapper, that Jake Tapper, he said that we need to talk about the First Amendment. We need to defend journalists. Interesting. Because then maybe I'd like to see some of that from you, man. Maybe you could maybe you could show not tell. Little show not tell wouldn't hurt anyone. And we are certainly going to cover it all on this show where we actually do stand up for the First Amendment.
