One of the ways that I can identify a person who has a familiar, actually, is a gossip. Information is power. Wherever you find someone wanting information about others all the time, trying to glean information, usually it's a familiar that wants power so it can actually have the key so people will engage with it for the supply of information. This is why gossip is so bad, actually, because what it's about is a familiar receiving your sacrifice of your words to give it the ability to frame itself into another's life or into your life.
[Music] I want to talk about familiar spirits today. There. You know, I don't like focusing on the demonic world, but so many of us have these internal conversations that go on, and we think that it's us. And actually, it's something else that is engaging with us in our, in our soul arena, where it, it actually can also speak in first, first person. And so I want to be able to identify some of these things for you today. I want to make a statement here. For me personally, I found that most believers have between seven and nine familiars in some way connected to their personal life, to their inner life, to their thought life, to all of these things. And I don't like the way that we are told that, you know, you can't have a conversation with a demon. Well, I, I'm sorry, but actually, you can quite clearly inside your head, particularly when there is anything to do with doubt and fear and immorality and all of these things, you have these conversations that go on. Things like, "It's going to be okay." "No one really knows." Well, who's saying that? And so for me, some of these arenas that we have to walk our way through are just important that we get to grips with the way these things function in our lives and around us. It's not necessarily only in us, but sometimes it's around us because of our family lineage and the things that have happened to us or the things that's gone on in the family line that have been passed on to us. And so I thought it would be really good to just do a teaching on it. Really, not so much a, just a teaching on it, but I'll use some of the notes to, to help bring, um, revelation to some of this for you.
So the word "familiar," if you go and actually look into the, um, into a concordance or into a dictionary about the word "familiar," the word "familiar" has four major meanings associated with it. One means to be deeply acquainted with. Another one means to be very well known or intimate with, or excessively informal. So everything to do with the word "familiar" is to do with relationship. Um, and so I, I found that that most familiars have become very relationally connected into the broken arenas of our lives that have created the capacity for, um, for those things to have their own way within our thought life, our desire life, within our heart, in the conversations, and in conversations sometimes, you know. Anyway, anyway, I'll get into some of the stuff in a minute. I just want to lay a foundation first.
The word Hebrew, in the Hebrew for familiar, is called an "Obe," which is just an O, O, and a B. It's called an "Obe." The "Obe" is what is described as a leather or a supple leather bottle. Um, I want to talk about these things because they, they, in the, in the old days when they used to carry water around, they'd have a leather bottle, and the leather was very, very supple and could be hidden in little crevices and stuck away somewhere and, and then pulled out when necessary. And, and because it was supple, it was, it fitted in everywhere. It just kind of, you could put a water bottle anywhere and it would just mold to the shape of whatever was there. And because it's leather, it wouldn't actually penetrate. Sorry, nothing could penetrate it because it was quite tough. The word "ob" means, means a leather bottle that is very supple that could be hidden in places and very, actually, at times very difficult to find because the first thing that an enemy would do in the desert is take away your water. So the, the thing that happens with many of us is that when we're in the desert places of our lives, we drink from a different fountain rather than the fountain of Yahweh that is in the middle of us. We drink, often times, from, in our brokenness, we drink out of the fountains of other things that have engaged with us where we have made them part of our life where they're hidden in our life and kind of sit there doing their thing. Um, often they would be able to be, the leather bottle itself would be able to be conformed to, to be hidden so, so no one could, could find it. Um, they also fit in very, he, secret, hidden places. Now, this is just like us. The familiar spirits are very supple, very familiar, can be hidden and often not seen because they hide in the crevices of our lives so that they can remain there. And there are times in our brokenness and our responses to our sin, to our sinning, our responses to the local environment. Often times we go and you engage with the supply from their water bottle which is connected to a familiar instead of engaging with the life of God. And you can see this, by the way, people get triggered when you're around them. You know, sometimes you have a normal conversation and someone, someone's throwing a, a wobbly. I don't know what you would describe it in your country, but a fit, having a fit of hysteria over something. Usually that's connected directly to conversations internally with familiar spirits that they're now drinking from the source of that life.
And so, some kind of background, a familiar spirit is familiar because of its particular type. It's so named because of its chief characteristics and, and within its, f, familiarity with a person, with their behavior, with their thoughts, with their life patterns. Now, um, often, I, I find, you know, there are, there are times when we will see those that have gone before us, particularly those that are, um, in our family lineage. But often times, it's not so much here, but when we, in that realm. However, there are times when, you know, Auntie Jane who is halfway around the world dies, and then you're in your bed, or you may be in your bed, and you see Auntie Jane standing at the end of your bed, and not engaging, but they look like her in their, in their dead form. Now, I say to people, that's not Auntie Jane. That's a familiar that was connected to her pattern and her lifestyle and her characteristics. So familiar with her that has a capacity to take on the image that, that looks like her, but actually has nothing to do with her at all. It's a spirit force that's now wants to engage with you in your generational line stuff. Any, any person I've ever seen that has gone before us always wears a white shining cloaked tunic, which is the garment of righteousness sitting over them. And so the difference, I know, between a familiar appearance and a white men, white lined appearance is actually the garment that sits over them because remember, these things are from a realm that has no light in it. And so, whereas those that are in our Father, those that have gone before us, the men of white learn that surround us have a garment that sits over them.
So let's, let's talk about how these, these, these things get familiar with us with regards to building the relation. Everything's about relational connection. And so these things build a relational connection with your behavioral patterns. So they can live in you and produce after their own kind within you, through you, constantly feeding them. They, I think the worst thing I realized when, when I was working my way through some of this stuff was that every time I engaged with them, actually, I was bringing them an offering and I was trading with them by empowering them to have a v inside of me. Um, often in relationships, the sharing of intimate areas through communion or connection with one another and the bonds growing between two people is the very, very way that familiars get into us where they, they grow with us in our pain and they become familiar with the patterns or the processes of your engagement with the record of corruption that they become very, very familiar with the way you function. And so any changes to the way you function creates massive constonnation for them. Is one of the ways that I've recognized where, where the behavior is just me or familiar, is that when I start to change my pattern of behavior, what happens to the voice that goes on inside of me? That's one of the reasons why I just don't like hearing the, the voice of God other than hearing him face to face speaking, watching his mouth move, is because sometimes these familiars will speak just like the voice of God. So you can m, so they can maintain their stronghold and the connection to you on the inside.
Um, a familiar spirit bonds itself to the nature of your soul. So, as you walk through your struggles, your repetitive sin, your hidden thought patterns. Um, they go, the familiars go into the hidden intimate areas of our lives, find a resting place. And because they're very subtle and, and supple, they just sit there. And then every time you engage with it, you feed them and you give them the water of your life, which is your sweat of your brow, your life, your sacrifice. You engage them and actually until you build an altar for them. And then what happens is they administrate that altar by your repetitive cycles. It's not very nice, I know, but this is just life. We just have to hear it. And then there's ways to deal with it, and we'll get into that shortly.
Um, because the chief characteristic of a familiar is the medium of communication. Often our thought life, our imagination is the residing places for these things that engage with us. One of the ways that I can identify a person who has a familiar, actually, is a gossip. You, information is power. Wherever you find someone wanting information about others all the time, trying to glean information, usually it's a familiar that wants power to so it can actually have the key so people will engage with it for the supply of information. And every time we do that, this is why gossip is so bad, actually, because what it's about is a familiar receiving sacrifice of your words to give it the ability to frame itself into another's life or into your life. And so I, I recognize very, very quickly when I, when I, when somebody is wanting information all the time about stuff, it's usually because there's familiars locked into their soul.
Um, familiars are connected with the little whispers we often hear inside our mind. I can remember when I first started engaging with some of these things. I would be praying and there'd be a, a lovely presence of God, and then this little voice would start in the back of my brain, and it, it would just kind of very slowly intrude, like, "You're a failure. You're useless." You know, there's some of the things that they talk about are things like rejection, bitterness, self-pity, you don't like yourself, or the fears, like fears of all kinds are generally connected to, to sp, to familiar spirits. The craving need for the affirmation of people is also another thing connected to it. Um, so, so what I find is that anywhere where someone gossips, anywhere where there's informational exchange, often is directly linked to familiar spirit powers. And so I, I just, you know, when I'm around people, I just zip my lip and listen. One of the key things is a man, a wise man is a man who keeps his mouth shut and listens.
And so let's talk about what familiars are. Um, the familiar spirit chief characteristic and role is to provide information. They're called familiars because their chief characteristic is the closeness in relationship with those that they're connected to. Their familiars are controllers. They encourage ongoing forming of the internal bondages to strongholds to establish certain sin patterns or bents within us in a certain type. They are also intimate activators. They actively tempt us or, as, as an individual or as a group, to fall into sin. Every time we yield to sinning with some of these things, we are literally offering a sacrifice of that area of our life and putting it on the altar for that spirit to engage with that law. That's, that source of life from the sacrifice I've now given it. I, when I first discovered this, I was really kind of quite disgusted with myself because I realized that I had set up altars within my heart. And so I, I did a good teaching on tearing down altars. And I think that might be somewhere in the website. I'm not sure. But I just want to talk about that here, that the altars we establish in our lives are from patterns that have been established in us where, where we've been intimately activated in the temptation process with internal thoughts in first person and communicating with those thoughts. I don't know about you, have you ever find yourself arguing with your own thoughts? Have you ever, you know, "I want to do this." "No, I don't." "Yes, you do." "No, I don't." "Yes, I do." "I really need that." "No, I don't." "I want it." "Yes, I do." "No, I don't." "I really want it." "No, I don't." "I don't need it." Those, those little arguments you have inside you, not you having two thoughts. It's you and a familiar fighting for preeminence of the way that it wants you to function and what it wants you to do. Now, I, I've learned, I again, I've learned some of these things. And so, it's just a way of dealing with them.
So, let me just work through my notes and then I'll talk to you about how to deal with them and the way that I've gone about dealing with some of these things because, um, I, you know, I, I love payback. One of the things that I, I, I love about the spirit world is that the demonic world and all that stuff is only there for exercise, but we can get payback. And, and in my early Christian life, I used to love payback.
Um, a familiar is a, a demon spirit that expresses itself through and in the life of a person. They, they are very common where witchcraft has been involved. Witchcraft is not just the demonic stuff. Witchcraft actually is about a controller and, and about control. Anywhere where there's control, manipulation, and domination, it's all woven into the fabric of witchcraft where they dominate your thoughts. They control your thoughts. They control your behavior. They, they manipulate you to do things that you don't want to do, even though you know you don't want to do them. Um, sorry, even, sorry, they manipulate to manipulate you to do things that you do, even though you know you don't want to do them. It's another way to recognize their behavior. Witchcraft does not only mean the through using mediums of direct occult influence, but also involves those three things: control, domination, and manipulation. Often these familiars are around harassing circumstances, and they come to do three things: they come to rob your faith, steal your hope, and destroy our belief in our, in our destiny and in, in the, in the issues that we walk through in our daily lives.
Um, I find it really interesting. A person called a medium in fortunetelling or such, have a familiar that used to speak, that, that uses them to speak through to others. You can find these in Leviticus 19:31, Deuteronomy 18:11. Um, you can find them there. Leviticus 20:27. It's really interesting. I find it's, it says in Leviticus 20:27 that anyone who operates with a familiar is to be put to death. I, it's just weird how, how much Yeshua hates and how Yahweh hates familiars and the operations within humanity. A familiar spirit forms a link between the natural world and the spirit world for the person that is outside of God. So often the familiar spirit will form a spiritual link, um, with a person for the spirit world and empower them to tap into the spirit world. And the spirit, the familiar spirit becomes the interconnected, the interface for that person to have spiritual information, where you and I as believers, we don't need that. We have our interface with Yeshua, where we engage and have that median of engaging with the presence of the Holy Spirit that is already dwelling within us. They, they're basically around deception and defilement. You can find this in Leviticus 19:31. Many are defiled by them. This is their main way for being able to stay and operate through and around a person's life is in the arena of defilement. Usually the acceptance of them. "Oh, that's just me." Have you ever just said that? You know, where you've been doing something and you know it's not necessarily right, or you have a behavioral pattern and someone goes, "Oh, that's just me. I, I just do that." You know, I'm sorry about that, but that's just me. Actually, I don't accept that anymore. I've recognized that as a familiar that creates an embodiment of its desire in the heart of a person to engage with them to make them frame that up so they completely accept their behavior as normal. For me, I don't accept behavior. I have the nine strings I hang in all my behavior. So, I'll give you those nine strings so you can understand them. And I think I've taught on it, but they go like this: Righteousness, joy, and peace. Justice, judgment, holiness. The way, the truth, and the life. Anything that doesn't carry those nine strings in conversation, I engage with as a familiar. Just makes it safe.
The Holy Spirit himself, um, is our comforter. A familiar spirit is a direct counterfeit for the Holy Spirit, where the Holy Spirit will, will confront your issues, bring direction, reveal the love of God to you, empower you to be led out into salvation through the cross, and who presents Yahweh as the loving God. A familiar wants to comfort your issues, brings directions so that it, so that it can't be revealed, and wants to take you away from your life with God. So you can see the complete difference between both of them. A familiar spirit will also hide us from the truth. It will defile us by reminding us what we are, not who we are. That's one of the things I, I find about some of these voices is that so often they come and they, they'll have this conversation where it's about what you are. "You're a failure. You're a sinner. You've done this." D, won't tell you that you're a son of God. That Yahweh loves you. That there's a, internal conversation of glory and, and a continual heart turn towards God. You find a familiar will, will make you bow down to the lowest common denominator, which is the sinful nature of your flesh. And so I, I recognize the difference between the Holy Spirit and these things because of that.
Um, so the Holy Spirit is the one that leads us to repentance and walk, and walking in the light and communion with, with Yahweh, where a familiar will accuse you to bring condemnation and to hide us from God. Like you can see the difference between these two things. So, so often the familiars are engaged with our behavioral patterns, and we, because of condemnation. That's all the witches. There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ, who are the called according to his purposes. The reason is, it's because you're in Christ. So if you're not in Christ, then you are open to these other things engaging with you that take you away from the lifestyle of holiness, that take you away from the, the kingdom world of Yahweh that we are supposed to be engaged with.
So, how do I identify that these things are in my life? The first one is your behavior in secret when no one is around. How do you behave? You know what you do. No one else does. Espec, well, actually, they do, but they have no reference for it. Um, I'm talking about the cloud of witnesses and the angels that are around you all the time, not just when you're in church, including when you're by yourself, where no one sees, where no one knows, where no one can be hurt by whatever you want to do. Da, da, da, da, da. All of this stuff sits inside of us. So you identify them by your behavior in secret.
The second one is the hidden thought patterns that, that permeate our life. I can remember praying one day and engaging with the presence of God and, and there was an awesome atmosphere of the presence of the Lord. And suddenly it was like this thought came in my brain, and it was just like this little internal conversation that went d, in the back of my brain, and that whole realm began to close down. And I was like, it was like, I was like, "What has just happened?" I then recognized actually that it was a familiar that was engaging with me to take me out of the realm of Yahweh to engage with it so that it became the source of my life, which was rejection.
Um, I also find it, it can be seen in the behavior around others. It's amazing how a person can have a nice face when others are around and a bitter face when they're not around. How sometimes, you know, I always, I always say this, that it always takes two to tango, or there's always two in a conversation. You know, the word says, "He that comes first in his own cause seems right." I always find that you got to find the other side of the conversation because sometimes it's actually familiars that are presenting themselves to hide the truth. And it's the same in relationships. Sometimes people don't want to engage in relationship because actually there's a familiar that's been talking to them. And most of this stuff is all about rejection.
Um, the beh, your behavior when others aren't there to see is another way, sort of hidden fantasies, things that are engaging with us that, that, that confront our life with God where we give way to its desire instead of the life towards the Father. Uh, I find them often in the little whispers that come through that permeate, that fold through our thought life into our imagination, where a familiar begins to work in our imagination to evolve the seed of desire. The word says that, um, "All have sinned and fallen short of God." But through Christ, we've been redeemed out of this body of sin. However, what I find is that familiars make you want to dwell on a seed of sin so that you can water that seed by dwelling on it. And when you water it, you give it the empowerment to have the fruit from the tree of the seed you've now just been watering, which is really again, it's another ugly thing, but it's just a fact.
Um, often these whispers can come at us in first person. Things like, "I really need that," or "I wonder what they are thinking." You know, there's a classic one when you, when you get around people and people have a familiar, they will always be wondering what another person is saying about them, when actually they're probably not saying anything, but it's a familiar wanting to pull you out to make you rejected so you don't communicate and connect in relationship. Um, another thing is, "I wonder what they're talking about," not not thinking, but "I wonder what they're talking about." So you have all these little key things that I found very helpful for unlocking some of those things.
Um, when you and I deal with a familiar spirit, it becomes easier to engage with the Holy Spirit. Um, I, I've learned that there is a sacrifice, sorry, that there is a cycle to the way that familiars engage with us so that we end up in our sacrifice. Have you ever gone through the cycle of where you mess up and then you go, "I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry." And then you go through hearts and flowers, "Lord, I'll never do this again." And then you kind of go through the pattern of the burn of sin engages with you again till the thing comes so strong, you, you engage with it again. And then you go through the same cycle over and over and over. Most of us do that. If you haven't, praise God, you're holy. You should be glistening white by now. But I, I have found that these, these cycles are important. Every time we repeat these cycles of, of engaging with the identity that a familiar is trying to take us into, we obey the hidden thought patterns that are within us. We offer a sacrifice to that thing. Where the word says to present our bodies as a living sacrifice. The reason we do is because the Holy Spirit lives in every cell of our body. Which means that our bodies become a living entity of God in the face of the earth. A familiar wants you to ignore your body so you don't like it so you throw it away so it can stay locked within your body. It's kind of way I'm hoping that I'm showing you the difference between the way the Holy Spirit operates and the way these things operate.
Um, the holy, the, sorry, the familiars are direct enemies of the cross. They, they, they are, for me personally, they are our number one personal adversaries. Um, they do have the habit of silencing Yahweh's voice around us and his engagement in relationship. They will always remind you of what you are in the normal natural life so that you can be hindered from walking a spirit supernatural life, which is what we really are called to.
So identifying these triggers, I, I can remember starting to work on these familiars to identify my thought patterns, to identify the way these thought processes operate in my life. And when I was finished on a, on seven different pieces of paper, I had seven of these things working in my life when I first started this process. And so I wasn't ashamed to get it out. The word says to walk in the light. So I made a choice to bring everything into the light. And I, and I wrote this stuff down and pinned it on my, on my wall in my room so I could actually identify where these cycles were. Now, the great thing I love about cycles is that if you recognize you're on a cycle, you have the option to jump off the cycle anywhere on that cycle. And it doesn't matter whether you've just started or whether you're at the end, you have the opportunity to jump off that cycle to engage with Yahweh to give you a way of escape out of what you've been doing. At any time we can break these things because of what Yeshua has done.
So let's just go classic cycle. It's where we, we end up sinning. What happens then is we withdraw. Usually it's from people or from faith because we now are condemned and feeling condemned by what we've done. That condemnation actually comes from a familiar who wants you to walk through condemnation and stay there so that it can actually have the water of your life and live off the supply of your life for that period of time. You then, they found another one. So it went from condemnation to self-hatred, then to shame, then to sorrow, but then I was sorry that I'd done it. Actually, repentance is really interesting. Repentance isn't saying "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry." That's the way the Greek have presented this stuff to me. It's repentance now from a Hebrew perspective is turning back towards the perfect state of awe. So it's this realm of awe that we've been given the ability to unlock and walk into some of these things. Um, then we go into this arena of remorse, where "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry. I won't do it again. Please help me, Jesus." Then you go into hearts and flowers. "Lord, I just love you so much." And then, "I will make it up to you. Lord, I'll make it up to you." Then, actually, the whole cycle starts again because really, what you haven't done is deal with the thing that sits in the middle of it.
Um, anytime we can break the cycle by engaging and confessing our sin to Yahweh and engaging to jump off. The way we jump off is going through the veil. Remember on some of the other teachings we've talked about going through the veil. The important issue is about us going through the veil. So that when it separates, we become instantaneous, in instantaneously holy and righteous by our presentation. Not this side, but that side. The thing I love about going that side is none of this, this side can go that side. Um, and if it does, it gets judged under the same fire you're now walking into.
Um, I, I decided in my own spirit life to wage a personal war against these seven functioning things that I had inside of my life. Um, in some others, there may be less, in some there may be more, but it was just specifically for me. Um, I, I made a choice to see them as my personal adversaries in this life to godliness and to manifesting the ways of God around me. Now, once I started down this pathway of engaging actively to deal with them, I'll talk about how to do that in a minute. Actively deal with them, um, I found that the battle be got more and more and more intense where I thought it would decrease, got more and more intense because I was rooting out the very root of the fiber of the thing that for years I'd given the right to live in me by my sacrifice and engaging with it, that in my choices I'd made. Now it was like, "I'm done with this thing."
Um, I, I had, I had what I did was, I, I love working with patterns, working with images. And so one day when I was praying, this is one of the things I love about payback. I can remember one day when I was praying, the Lord said to me, "Go and take an old carpet and hang it over the washing line." Now, what a weird thing for God to say to me. So I went and hung an old carpet over the washing line. Then he said to me, "Take a steel pole and start to beat the carpet." So I started, I took a steel pole and I started to pulverize this carpet until I realized what I was doing, that every time I hit the carpet, a dust smoke came out of the carpet. And I was like, "That's a really good image to work with when I'm dealing with these familiars." So that it's called dusting. That's actually what the word dusting comes from is that. And so I thought, "That's a really good image for me to work with." So that every time these things start the, the conversation within me, I would lay hold of it. I would take it inner heaven and I would lay it before Yahweh and I begin to beat this thing using the image of my steel pole hitting the carpet and the dust coming out of this carpet. And so I did that for, that's all I did for weeks. I didn't pray for anything else. I take these things and I would engage with them and smack them and smack them and smack them. Now let me tell you something. I found that the issues in my life started to get quieter and quieter and quieter because they knew that every time they would engage, they're going to get a dusting.
Now, I, I really enjoyed this till where for me, I wouldn't just take one of them because I'd identify them all. I would, if one engaged with me, I'd take them as a corporate group and I'd smack the living duts out of them before the presence of Yahweh, engaging violently with the pre, with the presence of God to deal with the corruption that sits inside of me. And so you then had this thing called positive peer pressure because what happened is one would begin to fight with another not to reveal its connection in me because they all knew they were all going to get beat up all at the same time. So it doesn't matter which one did it, they would engage in there. And so very slowly these things got quieter and quieter and quieter in my life. And I found out at that stage that actually about, about the courtroom process. And so for me now, my process is: take them in, dust them, and get some payback. Like, you got to get, like they're there for exercise. Get some exercise. Get some payback. Don't do it here. Do it there. Then when you've had enough, you then ask Yahweh to judge you. Go in before the presence of Yahweh in the court, mobile court, and ask them to judge you in these areas where these things have had a voice after you smack them around a bit, like get some payback. Listen, they have smacked your life around for long enough. You need now need to get some payback and engage with them in the right way to deal with this stuff. So, what I found was that I would take them in there. I would engage with them, smack them around a bit so that I felt better from what they'd been doing with me. And then I would ask Yahweh to judge me. And as he judges me with fire and glory and the sword, I would ask him to fall on those things in the same measure I was allowing him to root out the stuff in my life. And I found that after about three months, all of those voices, all the little whispers, the things that sat in the back of my mind, in the back of my heart that would pull me into inordinate patterns of sin or whatever, very slowly, I found all these things got quieter and quieter and quieter until they literally faded out of my life. And I found, I mean, I've been free from some of these things for 15 to 20 years now.
Also, I found keeping short accounts very, very important with some of the stuff because you'll find that, that if you are free from them, those things will try, not necessarily engage you in the same way, but try and engage with other things to find a place back inside of you again. And the moment I recognize the cycles, I would then go back and begin to engage with them in exactly the same way. Now, you can deal with these things. Like this didn't happen by somebody, like I was in a church that operated in deliverance. I, I, at that stage, you know, when the whole deliverance thing was operating, which was awesome at its, at its time, it had its place. Um, I found that, um, I, it wasn't, I didn't deal with them through someone laying hands on me, going, "Shandi Bundy, you're now blessed." Sunday. I, I, I dealt with them by going to the cross, by smashing them around, by going into court and allowing Yahweh to judge me internally.
Um, there's some, some key things to dealing with these things. You must see them as somebody, not just an empty piece of air. They're not just some mythical cloud that hangs around you. They're a being, and you got to see them as a being. Um, the next thing is to identify their root hold and the cycles that you have in your life. Um, key things like, "Do I need to be loved by others?" and "Do I need to be accepted by others?" "Do I needed, need to be needed by others?" Often the name of a familiar is the feeling it generates when it engages with you. And sometimes naming them gives me right of access to engage to deal with them.
Um, identifying the triggers. What I did was, I, when I drew, when I drew these seven, um, patterns in my life, I drew a, like a, the outside layer of a, of a human being in the middle of the picture. And I would look at that picture and go, "You and I are going to have an argument today because this is now happening, and you're responsible for that. I'm responsible for my choices, but you're responsible for quickening that thing in me. The Holy Spirit is my quickening spirit, not you." And I would take hold of them, go into court, smash them around, hit them with that, that steel bar, and then let them go and ask Yahweh to judge me. And then receive divorce papers from that voice. The word says this, that "The voice of a stranger I will not hearken to." And so familiars are a voice of a stranger that have sat in you to try and conform you to their behavioral pattern. Let me just turn this over here. Nearly done.
Once, once I've identified the patterns and identified their names, usually their names are connected to an emotion that goes with them. Um, I find by praying strongly in tongues, sometimes actively engaging helps to, to trigger these things out into the open. Um, I find also mixing it with scriptural, um, conversation where I take the word, you know, "The word is sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the dividing of the thoughts and intents of my heart," where these things have had the thoughts and intents. Engage them. "Lord, let your word pierce." I mean, I would just take scripture and I would begin to positively and affirmatively engage with the word. Instead of engaging with the demon, I'd engage with the word of Yahweh to deal with the record that was inside my life.
Um, repent. Repentance was the key for me, which is not saying "I'm sorry," but actually a turning towards the flawless, perfect state of awe, where you can behold Yahweh in the full measure of his presence, where we can engage with him to find the truth of who we really are.
Um, sometimes another way I found of breaking these things is I would go and do exact, exactly the opposite to what it's saying to me. Now, I'm going to give you guys a bit of a secret about my life. I find it very hard to talk to strangers. Now, some people find it easy. I don't. I would rather not say boo to anyone. But you'll find that when I'm at conferences, I will go up to people and they say, "Hi, how you going?" I begin to engage them in conversation. I've had to learn that behavior. The behavior of the, of the familiar's voice was, "Keep yourself away from people. Ian, no one's really interested in what you have to say. It doesn't really matter anyway. No one's really interested. You can just sit and then you might as well just get full of rejection and then you can sit in the corner moping yourself and start to get a little bit depressed just because you're all by yourself. Now you're all by your own. No one really loves you. No one really is interested in you because they're not coming to talk to you. No one, everyone hates you and you might as well go and kill yourself." So, I don't know about you, but I kind of had some of these things. And so, for me, finding I found it very hard to talk with new people. So, what I've learned to do is to do exactly the opposite of what those things are trying to tell me to do. I just get in their face, do the exact opposite. And then when I have in my three happy clabbies, I'll be taking that thing into the courtroom of the princes of Yahweh and smacking it with that steel rod and dealing with a record of that thing's engagement with my life, than asking Yahweh to judge me and as he judges me, ask him to judge that thing to destroy its yoke on my life.
Um, I, I've also found it helpful to identify which gates of my body, soul, and spirit are are personally accessible to those beings and then stand in those gates and deny them entrance. It's amazing standing in a gate when a familiar is used to walking through it. Especially if it's in your gateway of your body or your soul. I would stand those gates and begin to engage strongly in the spirit by praying in tongues and engaging with scriptural word stuff and resisting those things, which is we will resist the devil and he will flee. Well, I was just engaging to resist the conditioning of the pattern of their voice in my head so that they would be broken from my life. And I found, I found this easy. I found it familiar to deal with. Um, yeah. So to deal with those gates and shut them out having from having personal access through your thoughts and intents of your heart, through your behavioral patterns, and through familiar ways of thinking. Another way that they hide themselves inside of us is through familiar ways of thinking. It's amazing how we can think down a certain path for so long and then realize it's something else and then takes us up to 63 days to change the pattern of thinking, to change the, the thoughts of the way we go about doing stuff.
Um, let's have a look at these things. We're just kind of coming to the end here now. Um, finally, the word says, "My brethren, walk in the light as he is in the light, and we'll have fellowship one with another." And the blood of Jesus Christ will cleanse us from all our sin. So, the key to getting cleansed from all your sin is to walk in the light as he is in the light. So, I say to people, when you are dealing with these things, get in the face of Yahweh and just bring them out into the light. "Lord, this is my behavior. Stop trying to fight." I, one of the things I love about court is you don't have to defend yourself. You don't have to fight. The word says, "Agree with your adversary quickly in the place of repentance." Just agree. "I agree." The reason we do that is because Yeshua can engage with us to deal with the record in us because then he instantaneously, he becomes the high priest of our confessions so that we can engage with God to deal with the record facing Yahweh, allowing the fire to burn us to change this which is inside of us.
Um, I, I would really encourage you to start off by identifying one of these areas. Just identify one. Look at it. Look at the emotion. Look at your behavior. Just start with one. Start to smack it around. Start to go into court and allow Yahweh to judge it. Engage actively to deal with the record of the voices inside of you. Um, I've also found praying strongly in tongues is a helpful way because just your spirit, your body is making intercession for itself and the intercellular connections where the Holy Spirit lives in your body. The thing I love about the word, it says this, that "Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit," not your spirit man. So it means that every single cell in your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. That means when I'm praying in the spirit, my body is coming into agreement with what my spirit man is already saying and perceiving and is praying the mysteries of Yahweh, which is to reveal the glory of God within my being. And so I find by praying in tongues like that and engaging with scripture quite, quite helpful.
Um, another thing that I've, I've done as well is I've asked Yahweh to guard my mouth, to guard my eyes, to guard my thought life, to put fire in there so that I will only behold that which is holy and acceptable in the sight of God. You know, teaching about something is only 5% of the issue. The rest really is you standing, framing new habit patterns, forming new thought patterns, and then establishing those thought patterns as the way of normal thinking. That this stuff doesn't happen by Sunday bundy, someone laying hands on you on Sunday and it's all fine on Monday. I found that most people laid hands on have had to walk through the pattern of some of the stuff anyway. So walk through the pattern, denied access, denied water, and the seed can't grow anymore. Guys, I'd really encourage you to just to start the process. Don't, don't get so freaked out that we've got all this work to do. Just start somewhere. But man, I payback. I just, I can't tell you enough how much I enjoy payback. Payback's a blessing from God given to you and I to take back what the devil stole from us. Amen.
