Five things that happen when you truly put God first. Your life will never be the same. Listen to me carefully. This message is not for people who simply believe in God. It is for those who are ready to put him first. Not in words, not in songs, not in public prayers, but in real life where decisions cost something. Many people say, "God is first in my life." Yet their time, their thoughts, their money, their fear, and their priorities tell a different story. And the truth is this. God does not compete for first place. [music] He does not accept second, third, or when things calm down. He is either Lord of all or not Lord at all.
If you truly put God first, your life will not improve slightly. It will be undone and rebuilt. Some of you listening right now feel tired, not physically, but spiritually. You've prayed. You've attended church. You've tried to be good. Yet something still feels off. There is pressure in your soul, confusion in your decisions. A quiet frustration that says, "There must be more than this." And you're right, there is more. But it does not come from adding God into your schedule. It comes from surrendering the schedule to him. Putting God first is not a motivational phrase. It is a collision. It confronts your control. It exposes your idols. It challenges the life you carefully built without fully trusting him. And that is why many avoid it. Things you once centered your life around, status, money, relationships, validation, comfort, image, begin to lose their authority over you. What once ruled you no longer controls you. This reordering can feel like loss before it feels like freedom. Some of you listening are holding on to things God has already been asking you to release. Putting God first means he gets the first voice in your decisions, not the last approval. It means you stop asking God will you bless this and start asking God is this what you want. It means your calendar changes, your spending changes, your boundaries change, your yes becomes more intentional, and your no becomes more powerful. And here's the truth many don't expect. When God reorders your life, peace enters before prosperity. Pressure begins to lift. Not because life gets easier, but because your soul is no longer carrying what it was never designed to carry. You stop striving to hold everything together because you finally trust the one who already is. This is why people who put God first walk differently. They are not rushed by fear. They are not controlled by comparison. They are not crushed by outcomes. Their life has weight but not chaos, direction, but not panic. Because when God is first, everything else finds its proper place.

But God is not interested in improving the old version of you. He is committed to crucifying it. Scripture says, "If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old [music] has passed away. Behold, the new has come." That is not poetic language. It is spiritual reality. Putting God first always leads to death before resurrection. Not physical death, but the death of pride, self-rule, image, and the version of you that survived by control instead of trust. At first, this feels like loss. Not overnight, not magically, but steadily. And let's be honest, some of these desires were deeply personal. Some were emotional comforts. Some were secret escapes. Some were patterns you used to cope, to numb pain, to feel in control. God does not rip these away cruy. He exposes what they cost you. He shows you what they were slowly stealing. A desire to please God rather than gratify self. You begin to love what God loves. You begin to grieve what grieves him.
