Do you have anything to say?
Jamesburg was once the highest-ranking uniformed officer in the Suffolk County Police Department. Today, the former police chief pled not guilty to charges of public lewdness and indecent exposure after getting caught in an undercover sting at the Suffolk Vietnam Veterans Memorial Park in Farmingville in August.
Mr. Burke, do you have anything to say, sir?
Nothing. Thank you.
Can you explain what happened? These court documents describe what allegedly happened in explicit detail. Basically, Burke is accused of pulling down his pants and offering a sex act while making a lewd comment to a witness who turned out to be an undercover ranger.
Anything to say about your arrest? When he was arrested, he was originally facing two other charges, but those were dropped. Park rangers were investigating complaints about sex solicitation.
Nothing to say. Thank you.
Burke spent nearly 46 months behind bars after he was convicted in a federal prosecution of beating a handcuffed suspect and covering it up. He was released in 2018. After this arraignment, Burke was released and is due back in court in October.
