Wouldn't it be amazing to travel to Egypt and to have private, one-on-one time at the sights and sanctuaries which were the Earthly abodes of the gods and goddesses of the ancient world? Wouldn't it be incredible to walk the processional staircase to the upper tier of the Temple of Hathor at Dendera and ceremonially commune with the Rising Sun from a rooftop Chapel which contained the earliest depiction of the zodiac? Or to descend into the Temple of Osiris and partake in a repast of the elements of the ancient resurrected lord of the underworld? A ritualized meditation on the Triumph of the Soul over death, astronomically aligned to the Orionid meteor showers, named after the constellation Orion which the ancient Egyptians associated with Osiris.
Or to study the history, theory, and practical techniques of the ancient priestcraft and theoris of the Hellenistic era? These are just a small sample of the robust and carefully curated itinerary for a 9-day field immersive Excursion we're calling Techniques of Greco-Egyptian Theurgy. A curated experience for students of magic and theurgy.
I'm Mike Baker, your teacher and guide. Not only have I studied and practiced ceremonial magic for over 20 years, I've also spent a good part of my life traveling to the sacred sites and sanctuaries of the ancient world: Delos, Eleusis, the original grounds of the Academy of Plato; Stonehenge, Glastonbury Temple Church, and the Mithraeum of London; the museums and basilicas of Florence; the Palatine Hills and catacombs of Rome and Vatican City; even the black sand beaches and Icelandic portals into the underworld. Egypt is a land of once foreign and familiar, from the edges of the Sahara Desert at Giza to the Subterranean cities of Hermopolis Magna to the stunning and startling Temple complexes straddling the Nile at Luxor. Egypt is the spiritual pilgrimage site of the world. Because of this, millions of tourists flock to Egypt every year. But wouldn't it be incredible to visit these sites in the comfort of privacy and in the context of an onsite field practicum of ancient Greco-Egyptian ceremonial Magic, performing and participating in ritual in these ancient sits of divine power? Techniques of Greco-Egyptian Theurgy is a field immersive, arguably one of the best ways to learn anything—educational, experiential pilgrimage, opening the space for participants to have their own inner experience of sacred Egypt.
This excursion will feature one-on-one and private group tutorial and participation in techniques of divine magic reconstructed from volumes of primary sources. I am going to teach you transformative magic inside Temple sites, targeted to align with the program thematic, from a curated interface with ancient magical objects in the Cairo Museum to a ceremonial and mythologized descent into the Saqqara necropolis to a private 3-day stay on a 150-acre Retreat site on King's Island in the middle of the Nile River. We'll be engaged together in private explorations of the Giza Pyramid complex, examining the mythologies of the afterlife in the Subterranean tombs of the Valley of the Kings and Queens. Participants will also be receiving a custom-made Lotus wand made by me for ceremonial consecration.
We'll be studying and practicing techniques of theoric magic such as: theosis, the instillation or mosis of objects with Divine powers and intelligences such as amulets, talismans, or AAL (animated Divine statuary); epiclesis, the invocation of deities which is the foundation of all magical work; theoria, the transformation into the deity as an act of Union; theophagia, the consumption of the synema or signatures of the deity in order to divinize the physical and ethereal bodies and experience Union with the gods; Mantia, techniques of cultivating Altered States of knowledge and experience; the tonal vibration of divine words, names, onomata, and mantras. We will engage with the magical components of the Aoi Som and Okimatic, the Luminous body and spiritual Chariot. We also will practice theoria, several techniques of focusing one's awareness and utilizing what was anciently referred to as the Fantasia, The imaginal Faculty to achieve theophania, the revelation of deities and to catalyze transformative and unitive experiences of and with the divine, all while immersed in the breathtaking Landscapes, Rich history, and vivifying energies of the land of Egypt.
This is going to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience crafted so that each participant will have their own initiatic experience. The Excursion will take place at the perfect time of year to travel in Egypt: October 18th to the 26th of 2025.
