And my concentration is economic inequality in a US period. My name is and my concentration is spiritual. >> Spiritual healing. >> Hi, my name is Ellie and I concentrated in black storytelling. >> Hey, my name is Gabby. My concentration is called exploring colonialism and sustainable. >> Oh my god, all these useless degrees. >> I'm Alexia and my concentration is creativity as communication. How the arts acts as a language outside of verbal communication. Period. >> Oh no, they majored in Starbucks. >> I am studying creative writing. >> Going to a private institution for a degree that typically does not have the best return on investment. >> But I have a passion for this kind of writing. So >> what is the degree required? >> You have a degree? >> Yeah, I have a degree >> in >> uh liberal. >> Hey, what can we get into? >> I don't know. What can you get into? Uh, what are you studying? >> Graphic communications. It's a super basic art degrees. >> Okay. So, unemployment. Got it. We built up $75,000 of student loan debt. Say the degree one more time. >> All right. Study Shakespeare. >> Okay. Shakespeare. Lovely guy. What are you going to do with that? >> Um, well, that's such a comp complicated question. Like, no. >> This is where I just have to say, we come from different worlds. You're not going to understand this. >> I don't care what anybody says. A college degree is useless. I said what I said. Like it's useless. You're telling me that I'm going to apply to all these jobs, pay a ton of money for this piece of paper, that's not even going to work. If I get one more email that says, "I'm sorry. We went with another candidate. We will keep you like for other job opportunities." No, it's good, dude. It's good. I am just going to go back in my bed and cry because I was lied to. >> Learn to weld. No. >> My name is Loose. Um I uh graduated from Cal Poly Humble in 2019 with a degree in critical race, gender, and sexuality studies. Today I'm earning my degree in solidarity with the people um at Encampment and Inal and u more importantly the people of Palestine. And here I thought that you couldn't put that degree to good use, but I guess you can. It's kindling. Seeing people who chose the stable career path, the safe degrees go through yet another round of layoffs by these tech companies, it makes me really glad that I got a useless degree. Useless because it wasn't in STEM and it wasn't in business. And what's the point of that? Because education is about employment and jobs. It's not about knowledge and scholarship, right? like that's the model that we've set up. Now, my liberal arts, my humanities, my fine arts people really are there for the love of the game. And when I think about my academic journey, which was far from perfect, I really do feel like my learning, my education was enriching and fulfilling. I met incredible thinkers who changed how I see the world and transformed my mind. She met so many great thinkers in college. It's amazing that after all of that thinking, nobody thought to ask her, "How are you going to pay the rent and I get to be in community with people like that to this day?" Like, it was so worth it to follow my passion. >> So essentially, she's implying that she went into six figures worth of debt to make friends. She could have done THAT FOR FREE. YEAH, IT SOUNDS LIKE SHE paid 120 grand for a group chat. >> And I understand why people feel like that's something that they can't do, that they can't just like study their dreams and literature and film and whatever else. Um, I totally get that because there's actually no reason why I felt so I guess brave to just go for it because I I don't have any kind of safety net whatsoever. No, no, no. Bravery is running into a burning building. Wasting your time and money getting a useless degree is like setting your own building on fire. >> There's no way that this is real. All right, let's see what these studying Latin American women in visual culture. Yeah, >> useless. >> I'm studying the unseen body and creative spaces erasian exposure of the >> What the hell does that even mean? >> Decolonial intimacies, indigenous politics of resistance. >> What was that? >> Living artfully are as ritual therapy and pathway to decoloniality. >> 10k a year, probably more in America. >> Phenomenological approaches to black womanhood specifically. >> They just cut her off. They don't want to hear the >> radical disruption for survival and development in Africa. >> You know what? I've had enough. If your degree is more than five words long, it's bull. You've just given universities, which are multi-billion dollar companies, tens of thousands of pounds or dollars, and then come out expecting a highpaying job. University is not for everyone. Personally, I think it's a bit useless as it is, let alone if you're trying to study these type of degrees. You will be paying off this degree for the rest of your life. I hope it was worth it. >> Yeah, I really hope that wasn't real, but I have no idea. You guys have to let me know in the comments section below. Do you think that was real or was that fake? It's 2026, so anything is possible. >> What would you say are the five most worthless college degrees? >> Certainly like psychology is a classic one. History, the arts thrive, and I went to school for music composition. I was making money off it cuz I had a business brain, but Gen Z with the rise of AI right now, they're entering one of the worst job markets we've had in a long time. I want to see people getting into those degrees that are more AI resistant. Nursing is incredible. We got to get dudes in nursing. I don't think people are going to want a nurse robot. Even if it is better, in the end, I think you still want that human touch in that field. Banking, finance, yeah, you're going to have AI integrated, but there's such a heavy regulatory environment that it might be more resistant to AI soon. And then women into the trades would be awesome as well. We need more of that and we need more men in social work. Whe has landed several of those inside locus. >> So you went to school in your late 20s. >> I'm not I finished in April. >> Oh, you're still going. >> I'm still going. I'M NOT PAY. >> WHY I ASKED YOU HOW LONG THE DEGREE? You should have told me you're still doing it. >> I'm almost done. It was a 4-year degree. I took a little breaky and here we are. >> And nowhere in your plan has it been in the plan. >> It's not in the plan. >> What are you doing? Then why are you spending this money then? >> Why are you okay with just getting more debt? >> I wanted to finish it. >> You're finishing it's $53,000 you owe now. I don't give a dit about a piece of paper that you're never going to use. >> I didn't want to owe and not have anything for it. >> Yeah, but you would have owed maybe 5 to 10 instead of 53 and you're still not going to use it. >> That's the dumbest your plans. You said you sat and thought about it. You sit and think a lot, but you lead to the dumbest conclusions ever. Well, I guess this is a whole different level of useless degrees. Under normal circumstances, his degree in it would be useful, but he's not going to use it. You can use my buy me a coffee link to buy Leroy a dog treat. Leroy Leroy stop. He's so cute. I love you.
