Disobedience is Eternal Death, Obedience is Eternal Life

Amen. And the title for today from the sermon, which we receive much grace today, is disobedience is eternal death, obedience is eternal life. Disobedience is eternal death, obedience is eternal life. And at this time, I really hope that you receive much grace from the video sermon of our founding pastor. Thank you.

From Numbers 13:25 to 14:3, and also Hebrews chapter 3:16-19. Disobedience leads to eternal death, isn't that for certain? For dust you are and to dust you shall return. Men are meant to meant to work and eat by the sweat of their brow. And for women, if they hadn't sinned, children would have just slipped out easily, exactly as desired. There would be no need for the pains of childbirth, agonizing labor, even calling for an OB/GYN. Delivery would have been easy. However, he said he would give the pains of childbirth. We have a name that we are alive. We stay physically healthy, take herbal tonics, and pick out good food to eat. But even so, we are aging without even realizing it, and the day of death is steadily drawing closer, is it not? And ever since God pronounced judgment upon Adam and Eve, the ancestors of humanity in Genesis 3:17-19, the wages of sin has been death. And also in Romans 6:23, it is written, the wages of sin is death. We cannot live.

And think how hard the Apostle Paul struggled to believe in God faithfully, to be filled with the Holy Spirit, and to live according to God's will. Look at Paul's confession, Romans 7. He says his heart desires the law of God. Yet things do not go as he desires, and instead the sin he does not want rules over his inner self. And so he's stuck between a rock and a hard place, and that even the great man of faith, the Apostle Paul, lamented no less than seven times in Romans chapter 7. Seven times he groaned. "Wretched man that I am. Who will set me free from the body of this death?" This is a man who through prayer visited the first, second, and third levels of the kingdom of heaven and met angels. Have you ever met an angel? Have you ever met an angel while believing in Jesus? Have you received God's answer? God's answer? Even Paul, who was so full of the word, stumbled and fell at times. And he was so distressed that he felt like dying more than once or twice.

And through the word given today, do not simply ask why the people of Israel could not believe. Rather, realize that the moment you stop praying is the moment you fall into temptation. If you do not pray, nothing will ever work out. It just won't. It is God's command to look at the Bible. First, hear the Bible. Second, read it. And third, act according to the word. And such a person is blessed, and that is recorded precisely in this way in Revelation 1:3. So can you really live your life like that? Depending on luck, going to shamans or animisticicians to have your name analyzed, or trying to pick quote unquote lucky days? That is not the mark of a person of faith. Faith is the assurance of things hoped for. It is a reality. The words of the Bible are not pictures of bread. It's the real bread to those who believe. It's not a mere image. And that is why he said to Thomas as well, "Thomas, do not be an unbelieving person, but be a believing one." And after the resurrection, while the other disciples all gathered because they heard the Lord had risen, Thomas was the one who doubted. Thomas was a latecomer by no less than 8 days. Even though Mary Magdalene had told him and the Lord's disciples had told him, he said, "I cannot believe it." And when asked what it would take for him to believe, he said he would only believe after seeing with his own eyes and personally touching the places where the Lord was nailed. So appearing for the third time, Jesus said, "Peace be with you." And then he repeated exactly what Thomas had said. "Thomas, didn't you say you wouldn't believe until you touch me? Come and touch me." And only then did he say, "Lord, I believe." This is exactly how humans are. And listen carefully. The moment you do not pray is the moment you fall into temptation. Look at the Lord's Prayer we recite. It says, "Lead us not into temptation." And yet people find themselves caught in temptation because they haven't been praying.

The people of Israel grew from 70 family members into millions over 400 years. For no less than 430 years in Egypt, they lived as hired hands and slaves. When the great leader Moses received God's instructions to go to Pharaoh and rescue the chosen people of Israel, he said he couldn't speak, that his mouth was stiff, and that he lacked eloquence. And he said, "My brother Aaron is good with words." And at that time, God said, "Hey, who made the mouth? Was it not I who made it? I will put my words in your mouth. And when you stand before Pharaoh, it won't be you speaking. I will speak through your mouth." And so even then, there was nothing else for him to lean on, was there? Nothing visible to the eye. So God gave a staff to Moses. He said, "Moses, this staff is not your staff." It was said in Exodus 4:20 that it was not a human staff, but the staff of God. And since it was the staff of God, he had no choice but to go while believing in God.

According to Exodus chapter 12:40-41, there were 603,550 men aged 20 and up who were fit for battle, including the wives, children, fathers, mothers, and siblings. With approximately 2 million people, they had escaped. And furthermore, they didn't flee like a disorganized rabble. They marched out in formation. Whether in ranks of four or five, they all marched in order. Is this not a miracle of God? He demonstrated three powers and 10 signs and wonders. It's truly amazing. It's very, it's amazing. And when he put his hand into his bosom, it became leprous. Satan has embraced humanity. And the entire human race is rotting away like lepers. Yet we humans live our lives without even realizing that we are dying. And when he put his hand into his bosom again, it was made clean. All we have to do is to be embraced in the bosom of God. He's showing us all of this in advance.

And once they left, the people of Egypt cried out to Pharaoh, "We are in trouble. All our laborers, workers, and housemaids have left. What shall we do?" And Pharaoh realized that they were right. He mobilized. Listen carefully. He mobilized every chariot, chariot in Egypt. Every chariot in Egypt. 600 of the latest select chariots, the world's finest weaponry, along with every other piece of military equipment available in Egypt. And then he summoned his ministers. "You ministers, don't just sit there giving orders and chatting. Assemble. Leaders and commanders, follow me. Let us go. Follow me. Let us go and capture them," he said.

Meanwhile, after 3 days, the Israelites pitched their tents by the shores of the Red Sea. And they thought they were finally safe, but the Red Sea was surging before them. And did they have any boats? Not one. And in the morning, they looked back and saw Pharaoh's army, hundreds of thousands of soldiers mobilized and charging toward them. Now, look at the people. Even after witnessing the three powers and the 10 signs and wonders, they challenged Moses, saying, "Are you truly a servant of God? Was it because there were no graves or burial grounds in Egypt that you brought us here to die?" And the people just grumbled and tormented Moses beyond description. And then God said, "Moses, what is the use of praying day and night? Stand up." And God stood by Moses and told him, "This battle does not belong to man. It belongs to me. You all just watch. Watch without even needing an admission ticket." In Exodus 14:4, he decided to destroy Pharaoh. And God told Moses, "Lift up your staff and stretch it out." And the moment he stretched it out, God prepared an east wind. He sent the wind sweeping across at 360 km/h. And as it blew 360 km an hour, the Red Sea split apart and the waters became a wall. It was an east wind. And because a warm wind blew, the ground dried up instantly. Listen carefully, the ground was dry. And so, they crossed.

And while the people of Israel were in the middle of the sea, those Egyptians came in after them. Pharaoh's ministers and all the commanders entered the sea. And once they were inside, and once they were inside, God sent angels to pull out the pins, like pulling the pins on a modern cannon or cart, from the chariot wheels. And so, they all began to wobble and break down. And this happened right at the break of dawn. At dawn, looking out from the pillar of fire, God saw that the Israelites were about at dawn. It was a spectacular sight. The angel in the pillar of fire, which had been leading the way, moved to the rear. And as a result, that side was pitch black, while this side remained bright all night long. So, they needed light, but what light is there by riverbank in the dark? It was total darkness for the Egyptians. And so, on this side, however, there was light. After the chosen people of Israel finished crossing on the dry land, the Egyptians were swallowed by the sea. And when you look in the Bible, it says that every single one of them died without a single survivor. And after this, the people believed in God and in Moses. And so, 'cause God had commanded Moses. And this is in the in Exodus. It's truly amazing.

The Israelites had their livestock, the goats and cattle they brought with them, and they fed them. But after they pitched camp at Etham, and a month had passed, all their food was gone. There was no food left. So, in the wilderness of Sin, God provided for them along with the dew at night, just as we have our Etham cafeteria here. And he prepared the pillar of fire and the pillar of cloud at Etham. Why? Because God knew the people of Israel. And to put it bluntly, they would have thrown a fit or started a riot. So, knowing this in advance, he prepared the He sent sent down the bread of heaven. And he told them, "Gather enough for your family. Do not be greedy. I will give you your daily bread every day." And the manna poured down like a heavy shower, covering the area for miles in every direction. And in the morning, after the sun rose, they just had to go out and scoop it up with a bowl, according to the number of people in their household. But are humans ever satisfied? Out of greed, they gathered too much and left the leftovers. And when they checked later, it's full of maggots and worms, and it gave off a foul stench, and God was absolutely furious. He said, "Why are you being so greedy?" Even when we pray the Lord's Prayer, we say, "Give us this day our daily bread." 'Cause they were greedy. It rotted with maggots and it stank. Yet, even though it was the same manna, he told them to gather double portion on Saturday, enough for the Sabbath as well. And if if they gathered a 2-day supply on a weekday, it would rot. But when they gathered a 2-day supply on Saturday, it didn't rot and stayed fresh. So, therefore, if you believe and live according to God's word, please believe that you truly live.

So, dear saints, when you look at the Bible, I mentioned in Exodus 14:29-31 earlier. It's written there that after seeing the miracle of the Red Sea, the people of Israel were amazed and believed the word of the Lord and in Moses. So, shouldn't we then remain faithful to the end? Yet, people start to grumble the moment they feel a little discomfort or when things don't go their way. God hears every bit of it. He hears everything. As I mentioned earlier, their food ran out in just 1 month. After crossing the Red Sea and passing through Elim, they arrived at the wilderness of Sin exactly 1 month later on the 15th day of of the 2nd month. The manna fell. And they And did they ask for it? God knew. And how wonderful that they sleep soundly at night, snore away, and step outside, there's food. And whether in the backyard, the front, or the side, all you do is take a bowl and gather it. You could grind it in a mortar, boil it, or bake it. And the Bible says it tasted like wafers made with honey. It was a com- complete multivitamin. So, there's no need to complain about being weak while eating manna. You didn't need leeks, garlic, onions, watermelons, melons, or plums. You didn't need those. The manna itself contained every nutrient found in the entire universe. And how grateful we should be to our God. And therefore, it's all by God's grace. When we believe in God and look at the scriptures, there is no lack. "The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want," says that in Psalms 23:1. Would King David tell a lie? It's absolutely true, isn't it? Please possess that kind of faith. Instead of coming to church only when you feel good and staying away when you don't.

Listen carefully. According to Numbers 33, they departed from Ramses on the 15th day of the 1st month. And by the 15th day of the 2nd month, their food had completely run out. And that's when the manna began to fall in the wilderness of Sin, as recorded as recorded in Exodus chapter 16:1 and verse 14. And that manna continued to fall until the 15th day of the 1st month of the 41st year. And so, according to the Bible, they ate manna for 39 years and 11 months. And even so, didn't the Israelites keep grumbling and talking nonsense in the In the wilderness. Caleb and Joshua were there along with their uncles and relatives. And people probably asked them, "Do you really believe this?" "Just believe it." And with so many friends and everyone else doubting, "What special reason do you have to keep believing?" they would ask. So through Moses, our descendants are going into that land, the land promised by oath to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. A land that even Abraham himself did not enter. Believe this. How great is that? And that is how you must believe. You must realize this. That those who cause someone whom another sin has who another person has evangelized to stumble will not receive forgiveness for that sin. That sin of causing someone to stumble and preventing them from coming to church is a sin that will never be forgiven. Even more so than murder, robbery, or adultery. And I will provide scripture references later. Without knowing this, people speak recklessly and cause faithful churchgoers to stumble, discouraging them from giving offering. The sin of not believing oneself and causing others to fall away and stop ascending attending church is sin, which one will never receive forgiveness. That's a terrifying sin. And why do you engage in actions that bring ruin upon generations to come? If you don't know, stay silent. And that is why it is said that those who love life and desire to see good days must guard their tongues and their mouths. And James chapter 3 says the mouth is a fire from hell. If you make a mistake with it, you're in big trouble. A physical fire can be extinguished if a fire truck arrives, but God says no one can stop the mouth. Therefore, if you love life and desire to see good days, you must refrain from using your tongue. Scary. Those who cause others to stumble are in a fearsome position. It leads to ruin of their descendants for generations to come.

They left on the 15th day of the first month, and by the 15th day of the second month, all their food was gone after feeding the livestock and their children. And when God sent the manna, he sent it along with the dew. And it was described as being like a coriander seed, felt bumpy to the touch, and similar to castor beans. And they were told to grind it in a mortar, turn to flour, and then boil or bake it. And so they boiled or would bake it. And that manna tasted like wafers made with honey, like a complete multivitamin. How great is that? It's like a multivitamin. And they ate that. For how long? 39 years and 11 months. Do not forget Joshua 5:10 and the subsequent verses. Do not forget it. They ate manna for 40 years. No, it was 39 years and 11 months. And the manna continued to fall until they could eat the produce of the land of Canaan. And the very moment they harvested the crops and prepared to eat the food they had made, the manna stopped instantly. Then to commemorate the manna forever, God commanded, "Put manna in a jar."

And later at Rephidim, the people grumbled again. And they cried, "My wife, my children, my livestock are all going to die. There's no water." They shouted, "Moses, did you bring us here to kill us? Were there no burial grounds or cemeteries in Egypt? There are no houses here in the wilderness. Nothing. Did you bring us out to die?" It was beyond description. There's no words. But there was a rock there larger than Mount Namson. It's bigger than Mount Namson. And I've been to Israel four times. And it was truly massive. But how could there be water in such a rock? How could there be water? Moses told the people, "Calm down." And had them all stand before the rock. And after having them stand there, God said to Moses, "Since they are grumbling like this, I will go and stand to stand upon the top of the rock. You come and look at me, and when you arrive, just listen to my command. You must face me." So the people lined up. God went first and stood on the top of the rock. Then Moses approached and stood before God. "Moses, lift up your staff." And God said, "Strike it." And the water gushed out so abundantly that was more than enough for 2 million people to do their laundry, wash, bathe, water their livestock, and wash their hair. Why? According to the Bible, it didn't just spray out like a fire truck. It was as if a dam had burst or a massive spring had opened, forming brooks and rivers. It was forming brooks and rivers. They witnessed this.

And once again, the Israelites believed in Moses. And that's just how human beings are. And while Moses was on Mount Sinai for 40 days, eating no bread, drinking no water, what did the Israelites say? Even though he had told them everything before leaving, they said he had lost confidence and run away. So they told Aaron, "Your brother has fled." And then they threatened him. They handed over the gold and silver treasures of Egypt to Aaron. He took them and fashioned a golden calf. And they shouted, "This is the god who led us out of Egypt." That is the kind of people the Israelites were. It was so bad that God said to the psalmist, "For 40 years, God said, 'For 40 years, I never had a day of peace. Never had a day of peace because of these chosen people of Israel. I was constantly in conflict. I spent my days in constant grief of heart.'" And that is written in Psalm 95:10. They were always causing him grief. They would call him the great leader Moses, but deep down they wondered, "Did he really receive the commands of God?" And every time they witnessed those signs and wonders, they would cry out, "Oh, he is truly a man of God." But just a little while later, they'd be hurling insults and even trying to kill him. It was so extreme that God finally sent fire to suppress them and burn them. And then they would beg Moses, "Save us. We won't do it again. We promise. Just save us." And was it not when Moses prayed that the fire finally went out?

Our Pyungkang Church is a place where we believe without doubt and experience the transformation of living without seeing death just before the Lord's second coming at the end of the days. And as the old saying goes, if you have a choice, pick the red skirt or pink, the better option. So since we believe in Jesus, we should go all the way to the end like unwavering faith like that Canaanite woman. And to her, Jesus said, "Daughter, be of good comfort. Your faith is great. Let it be done as you desire." And what was her desire? It was for her demon-possessed daughter to be healed. It was the mother who healed her daughter through her faith. Our Pyungkang Church must become like that. We must become like that.

It's truly amazing. The water from the rock formed brooks and rivers. And when the rock was struck, the water didn't just trickle out. It poured out like the opening of the gates at Chungpyung Dam or Euiwang Dam during heavy rain. And the people bathed, washed their hair, watered all their livestock. They did everything. How happy they were. But even that joy was only temporary, short-lived. So they said, "If God is really there, water will come out. If God isn't with us, how on earth is water going to appear, right? Let's just wait and see." This is how all the people were acting. And the people said, "Let's test Moses and see whether the Lord is among us or not." So they wanted to test Moses. And that is in Exodus chapter 17 verse 7. They were seeing whether the Lord is among us or not. And they were testing. Massa means they tested him. And Meribah Massa means to test. Meribah because they could not believe means to quarrel, to fight 'cause they could not believe. It's unfortunate. And it means that they tested, they quarreled and fought with God. Why would they want to fight with him? And Meribah means to quarrel or fight with God. And these unfortunate names were given as a result of their unbelief and grumbling. And isn't there it's all there in Exodus 17, isn't that? And our Pyungkang saints. It's so that there will be no Massa or Meribah. We must pray to make us that God will make us faithful and whole-hearted saints who believe in him to the very end. We must pray. It's a truly pitiful situation they were in.

And then in Exodus chapter 17 verse 8 through 11, that Amalekite army attacks. So whenever Moses held up his hands, Israel prevailed. And when he let his hands down due to fatigue, they began to lose. So Aaron and Hur supported his hands until the victory was won. It was Jehovah Nissi. God swore by his own eternal life. "Do not leave even a seed of the Amalekites. Wipe them out completely. Even the children yet to be born," he said. And he said, "Do not even leave a seed of the Amalekites." Why? Imagine how grieved God was when they tried to destroy the people of Israel who were marching according to his promise of redemption after leaving Egypt. And so how grieved with God was. And God granted the victory, Jehovah Nissi, the banner of the Lord. And that was the event that took place. And 2 months after their departure, it's recorded in Exodus 19:1, they arrived at Mount Sinai. And they stayed there for more than a year. It was there that they received the 10 Commandments and the divine pattern for building sanctuary. And they constructed the tabernacle, didn't they? It is recorded in Exodus 40 verse 17 that the tabernacle is finished on the first day of the first month of year two. And on the first day of the second month of the second year, the first census of the military was conducted, that's in Numbers chapter 1 verses 1 through 3. And men aged 20 or older who are fit for war numbered 603,550. And they only counted the able-bodied men over 20 years old. And that's in Numbers chapter 1 verse 46. I said it earlier. And the stay at Mount Sinai lasted about 1 year, Numbers chapter 33 verses 5 through 15. Exactly 1 year, 2 months and 20 days after their departure from Egypt, they set out for Kadesh. Numbers chapter 10 verse 11 to Deuteronomy chapter 1 verse 2. And yet they kept on grumbling. It would have been better to live as slaves in Egypt. What is this? We have to carry, we have to walk carrying all our bundles with the kids in tow, they would say. And when a husband would complain, the wife would agree, wouldn't she? And while pitching their tents, they would whisper back and forth and grumble. But God was listening to every single word of their complaining. In Deuteronomy 1:27, it's all there. And God's saying, "I'm listening to everything you and your spouse are whispering inside of your tents. Fine, I will do exactly as you have grumbled. I'll give exactly what you said." Even earthly parents prepare everything without their children knowing. But the child keeps jabbering this or that. The parent says, "Hey, I prepared it all for you. Just stay still." And then the child demands, "Show me." And keeps talking back. And eventually the parent snaps, "Fine, you brat. I'll do as you say. If you want to leave, then leave." And he's they're saying, "I'm telling you I'll provide so you can eat without worrying for the rest of your life. So why do you keep talking like that?" Isn't that how earthly parents are? And this didn't just happen once or twice. God never had a single day of peace in his heart.

And then in Numbers 11, there was an incident at Taberah. Taberah. They kept muttering and grumbling. "Is Moses really servant of God?" So God in his anger sent fire down into the camp. And everything began to burn. And they cried, "Oh Moses, save us. We won't do it again." And once more, Moses repented before God on their behalf, asking for forgiveness. And God listened and the fire died out. And this is recorded in Numbers chapter 11 verses 1 through 3. I'm not just telling you an old tale. This same applies to Pyungkang church today. The word grudge, the Chinese characters means to resent and it means to expect. So even with their own fault, people resent others and claim that person instigated it. And they say they did it. And in the end, they direct their resentment towards God. And look at the Bible. And that's why it's called Taberah. It means burning. Being consumed by fire. And that event really happened. Look at Proverbs chapter 19 verse 3 and Revelation 16:11. In Proverbs 19:3, common translation, "A person ruins things through their own foolishness, yet in their heart they resent God." They mess everything up themselves. They ruin their own business. But in the end, they say they resent God. They resent him. Even after witnessing God's grace, their hearts remain dull. They don't even offer prayers of gratitude. And they fail to give glory to God for the grace they received. And Romans 1:23 is the same way. Same thing. So in 1 Corinthians chapter 9, 9 through 11, 1 Corinthians chapter 10 verse 9 through 11, they say those who grumble perish. And Paul felt so strongly that he told the Corinthians, "Do not grumble." Didn't they all perish in the Old Testament because of grumbling? Do not grumble. It's truly appalling. Appalling. And even now, there are saints within the church and within their districts who do not truly believe. Just muttering and complaining.

Kibroth-hattaavah means the grave of greed. And God struck them down. He buried all those who grumbled and craved greedily all at once. That greedy multitude became a massive graveyard. And it was a shocking sight to behold. But they were forgetful and forgot yet again, and they sinned once more. This is recorded in Numbers chapter 11 verses 4 to 35.

And then in Hazeroth, God commanded Moses to take a dark-skinned Cushite woman as his wife. Did God discuss this with his older brother Aaron or his older sister Miriam? So when Aaron and Miriam saw that their younger brother Moses had taken this dark-skinned woman, they just lashed out at him. They scolded him for taking a black woman after leading the great exodus out of Egypt. "How could you do that?" they would say. And Aaron was like, "You've lost your mind, kid." And women too, can they have they can have a sharp tongue, can't they? And God said, "Aaron, Aaron, Miriam, Moses, the three of you come out to the tent of meeting." They told them, "Listen, with other prophets I speak through dreams and visions. But with Moses, I speak face to face. I have met him personally. I gave him the command directly. And why are you gossiping when you don't even know the truth?" And because God cursed him, Miriam was struck with leprosy. And consequently, the people who were supposed to be marching forward, they're at a total standstill for 7 days. Total standstill. And the people started whispering. It wasn't just Moses' choice to take that Cushite woman. God told him to do it. But Aaron and Miriam gossiped about it and God got angry and now she has leprosy. So we're stuck here for 7 days and can't march. And this is in Numbers chapter 12 verses 1 through 15.

For 40 years in the desert, it's easy to say, but each day felt like a millennium. Moses suffered immensely. He shed many tears. Was nearly beaten. Almost died because of his own relative Korah. And yet, because of one single mistake, one moment of unbelief, he could not enter the land of Canaan, the land flowing with milk and honey promised to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, which symbolizes heaven. And how many times have we been tested? Even when we pray the Lord's Prayer, we say, "Lead us not into temptation." We pray like that, right? We're so much worse than Moses. At least Moses maintained his faith until that final mistake. In Numbers 20, when he lost his temper. So in James chapter 1 verse 20, it says, "For the anger of man does not achieve the righteousness of God." According to James 1:20. So don't lose your temper. Even if you have to endure, you must hold it in completely. And if you say, "You go to church yourself, I'm not going. You go to heaven and I'll just go to hell, okay?" It will happen exactly as you said. Watch your words. You must be careful.

And God said to Miriam and Aaron, "Listen, Moses is a faithful man. To other prophets, I reveal myself through dreams and visions, but with Moses, I speak face to face. I have met him. I gave him the command myself. If you're to behold the glory of God, why are you acting this way?" And look at how she was struck with leprosy because of the curse. She was cast out of the camp. Expelled from the ranks of the Israelites. Her eyes turned white and leprosy broke out all over her body. And when Moses pleaded with God, "Please save her. She did it out of ignorance." And then she was healed of the leprosy. And after showing herself to the priest and confirming that the leprosy was gone, they said, "Okay, you're clean now, come back in." And when she returned, the command was given, "Move forward." And so they resumed their march.

Dear saints, have you read the Bible? Have you prayed? Truly, while living on this earth, we resemble the image of God. Regardless of what they say, you are the sons and daughters of God. Then shouldn't we be doing the work that God sent us to? Do you pray? Do you read the Bible? Do you evangelize? When it comes to participating in God's work, everyone feels like a waste or is reluctant. Please don't be like that. And among And you have to receive the blessing. And you just want to give money to your kids. No, you have to teach the word of God. And they have to learn. Your sons and daughters must learn, and so they will not come to ruin. And that is written in the Bible. And do that. And don't think I am raising them. You have to entrust them to God and pray and say, "For my dear children, it's in your grace, will you take care of them so that they will become mature in faith?"
