What's up, fellas? Today's video is going to be a little bit different. We're going to be filming a vlog for this weekend, which I literally never do. The only reason why I'm making this is because my girlfriend will be celebrating her 24th birthday this weekend, so we'll be going to Austin to spend time with her family. I wanted to document everything, but one thing that she doesn't know is I will also be proposing to her this weekend. So, we've got everything planned out. Hopefully, the good Lord is on our side and everything goes according to plan, but it should be really fun. I wanted to document all of it so we have this for the rest of our lives, but if you enjoy this video and you want to see more vlogs on the channel, make sure to comment down below. But, yeah. Should be fun. I'm about to go pick her up, and then we're going to hit the road. So, let's get it.
Who do I have here? Who is this?
>> Um, Paige Christie.
>> Paige, who are you?
>> AKA Braeden's girlfriend.
>> Paige, what are we doing this weekend?
>> Um, we're going back to Austin, where my family is at, to celebrate my birthday.
>> [snorts]
>> And how old are you turning?
>> 24.
>> 24? That's pretty old, huh?
>> Yeah.
>> Paige, what do you think you're going to get in that present back there? You want to guess?
>> I don't have any guesses.
>> Give one guess. One guess.
>> I don't, I literally don't have any. I have no idea what on earth could be that big. What are you doing?
We're going to do a Q&A. I posted a story on Instagram, and we are going to respond to your questions about dating and relationships. If you're not already following me on Instagram, follow your boy at braeden.steckler, I think is my username, but we're going to be responding to some of these questions right now. So, the first question is, where and/or how did you guys meet?
So, I've already told this story on the YouTube channel multiple times, but I just happened to be at a wedding with my twin brother and his wife, and I was the only single guy out of all of my friends that were there, and your boy was feeling lonely AF. Hayley is her name, ended up posting me on TikTok to try and find me a girlfriend. She posted this video, it's like taking girlfriend applications for my brother-in-law, and I thought it was a joke. I thought it was not going to work at all, and it was going to get like five views, but the video ended up blowing up on TikTok, and within a couple of days, it got like 300,000 views. Not that that matters, but this lovely lady right here ended up seeing the video one time and scrolling past it, and not applying or saying anything because she had a fear that nobody was going to get back to her. Then God intervened, and it showed up on her page a second time. And Paige, take it away. What did you do at that point?
>> So, then I saw this handsome man on my TikTok a second time, and I was like, you know what? If he's my husband, this all will somehow work out, and I'll hear back from them, and we'll meet. And if not, then the worst thing that will happen is I won't hear back from them. So, I reached out to Hayley, and she and I talked for a little bit, and she learned some about me, and then gave Brett my phone number. We had a phone call. I think it went pretty well.
>> Tell me how you really feel that phone call, Paige.
>> I walked out of the phone call and I really didn't know how it was going to go. I was like, "Oh, this is probably going to be kind of awkward, you know, who knows?" 'Cuz him and I like had talked at all before the phone call, like at all. And it was so good. Like one of the best phone calls I've ever had ever and just like first interactions with anyone I've ever had. We just shared our testimonies and we just talked about our stories and Jesus and it was just really cool. And we talked for about an hour and we hung up and I just remember being like, "What just happened?" Because it was so much better than I ever thought it was going to be. And then we went on three dates and the rest is history.
All right, the second question is, "How do you balance nursing with a relationship?" This is from a girl who's going to be a future nurse.
>> Okay, so I am a nurse currently. I'm a night shift nurse. And truthfully, it can be really challenging. Um, but that's also why it's so important to date or marry the right person. Um, because it will not work if you were the only person trying to make it work. Um, and I think it has, especially the night shift part of it, really pushed Braden and I in growing in our communication with one another. Um, and so I would say that's how you get through it is you have to just overly communicate as best as you can, which is something I am not always great at. Um,
>> Paige will not respond to her friends for multiple days.
>> Yes.
>> I'm like, "Paige, respond to me. It's been hours." She's like, "You're lucky I'm responding to you at all. My friends literally don't get a text back for multiple days." I'm like, "Well, you're not dating any of your friends. Please respond to me."
>> This is true. I've never been a good texter, like ever. Um, but yes, so communication is really important. And I think also, like, a turning point in Braden and I in understanding one another more in this role, like him understanding how hard the job is for me, was really just sitting down and explaining like to him what I really do on my shift, because that was something I didn't really, 'cuz I just thought everyone knew what a nurse does. And so, I'm really tired all the time or my bad shift, like a bad day for my job is different than a bad day for his job. And so, just explaining that and explaining what all I'm doing and seeing and how it affects me physically and emotionally and spiritually allowed him to empathize with me more, um, and just ask more questions, so that I feel cared for more. And then he's able to just really like meet some of my needs and take care of me better. Um, which is really important for his job as the man, but then as the woman, when I see him attending to my needs more, it just makes me feel more loved and makes me be able to show up better as a woman in the relationship, even if I am tired.
Yeah. One other thing is if you're a girl watching this, which you're probably not, but if you are and you're a nurse or you're in a similar role where your schedule's all over the place and you also struggle with people pleasing at all, you're going to have to learn very quickly that you need to set boundaries with your time, and especially with other people, and even your boyfriend. Like Paige would have times where, because she cared about me and she wanted to make me happy, she would sleep for like 4 hours. And then I would be like texting her whenever she woke up at 3:00 p.m., and she can barely even keep her eyes open. And she's like running over to come hang out with me or spend time with me, even though she was killing herself with her own schedule. So, she had to learn to set better boundaries and communicate better about how tired she was so that we were both on the same page and she didn't get burned out.
>> This is true.
>> Look at you, you're becoming an expert.
>> Yeah, I got it. Don't you worry.
All right, next question is, I want to ask a girl out. How do I know if I'm ready? So, the truth is you're never going to be 100% ready to date somebody, but I will say that there need to be a few things in place in order to pursue somebody and it actually work out. First thing is you need to be grounded in your faith. You need to be taking your walk with God seriously. You need to be in God's word. You need to know relatively like what the Bible actually says, but how to lead yourself, being led by the Holy Spirit. You need to know scripture. You need to be a disciplined man. You need to be hard working. And you should be in a church. You should be plugged into that church. You should be serving. You should have mentors in your life. You should have godly community around yourself. Because a big part of being in a relationship is you're going to need to lead her spiritually. I know you guys are not married yet, but you're going to have to be able to showcase those traits and characteristics in order for her to be able to trust that you are a good candidate for the future husband position. So, God must be number one in your life to the best of your ability.
You also need to have a job. You need to be making some money for yourself. I think that you need to be relatively independent as well. Like you should not be living with your mom and dad unless you're like 16 years old watching this and you met the most amazing godly woman in high school and you guys become high school sweethearts and y'all get married. That's not the case for most people. It's rare. If that happens to you, great. But for the vast majority of you who are not in that position, you need to have God number one. You need to have a job. You need to be independent. You need to have your own place, have your own set of wheels, because at the end of the day, like, you're not going to get your mommy and daddy to come drop you off at your girlfriend's place or come pick you guys up and chaperone you around and bring you to McDonald's and pay for everything. Like, that just doesn't make any logical sense. That's not going to be attractive to any woman at all. So, you need to be self-sufficient. You need to be a leader. You should not be the guy who is chronically addicted to pornography or addicted to lust or any addictions. You should have a lot of that stuff in your past. If you slip up and you make some mistakes, like, it is what it is. We all fall short of the glory of God, but relatively, you need to be on the straight and narrow. You need to be a man before you try and bring somebody else into your life, 'cuz if you're not ready at all, you're just going to dump all your own trash and baggage onto somebody, and that's not fair to them.
I am currently driving. Stop shaking it.
>> Why?
Paige is going to open the letter or the card that I got her, but she's not allowed to open the present until midnight.
>> I don't know if I can get the card without me sticking my finger in the tape. Oh, it's going to rip. I'll just wait.
>> This girl is so persistent. She just keeps trying to get the card off of there without tearing it.
>> Okay, okay, okay, okay, okay. We got this.
>> About to get in a wreck.
>> [clears throat]
>> We got it.
>> I, I, you to speak up whenever you get it.
>> I got it.
>> No, whenever you read it.
>> Oh. You want me to read it out loud? Oh.
>> I want you to show it off.
>> Guys, uh, Guys, Wayden is... Another birthday, another $100 bill and a card. You're silly. Oh. Look at this card. You're silly. Sorry to disappoint you, but I hope you enjoy...
>> Oh.
>> [laughter] [gasps]
>> I forgot. I forgot that I said what it was in the card. Oops.
>> [clears throat]
>> Now you got to open the whole thing.
>> [laughter]
>> No, now I feel bad.
>> You got to open the whole thing now.
>> Now I feel bad.
>> You got to open the whole thing, Paige.
>> You did not.
>> Yeah.
>> You did not.
>> Paige, open up the box or finish reading the card first.
>> I love you so much, sweet girl. You make me the happiest man in the world. Happy 24th birthday, Paige. I hope it's the best one yet.
>> You're not allowed to cry.
>> Paige. We can't get in a wreck and you start crying.
>> [clears throat]
>> Why did you do that? That's really funny.
>> [screaming]
>> See how good you are at tearing open a box.
>> You got this very well.
>> Yeah, I'm an expert.
>> Yeah, you are. Get out of here. It's safe. Oh my goodness. It's safe. Wow. But listen, when there's a will, there's a way. Am I right?
>> Am I right? You're right.
>> Am I right? With my big arm.
>> And I'm like changing lanes and everything in this bug.
>> Brilliant.
>> Okay, I'll cry. [laughter]
>> Stop laughing at me.
>> Do that other box back there. Chaotic.
>> [laughter]
>> Guys, Braden is really sneaky. We were literally talking about boots, I don't know when, like a month ago.
>> Braden brought me a really cute dress recently. He was like, "You know what would be really cute with those? Some white boots." Wade. Wade, I'm freezing.
>> What do you think?
>> I think you're the most amazing man ever. Like, that literally never existed. Thank you.
>> I love you.
>> I love you, Wade. Thank you. Turn off the camera so I can kiss you.
There she is, the birthday girl. Come see. Come see, birthday girl. Paige, how's your birthday been?
>> It has been the best because Wade has been here.
>> Paige, what would make this birthday even better?
>> Nothing. I'm just kidding.
>> What were you going to say?
>> Nothing.
>> What were you going to say? Say it. Say it.
>> No.
>> Say it.
>> Nothing.
>> What does that mean? What does that mean, huh? Paige, use your words.
>> Nothing.
All right, I'm going to try and film this for the third time. Paige keeps running in this room. But, so far things are going great. Paige got all her presents. She's had a great time. We've all had a great time. But, she has absolutely zero idea that there's one more big present coming. So, the game plan is tomorrow, I'm going to treat it like every other Saturday. I'm going to go to Bible study in the morning with my mentors at like 7:00 a.m. Then, I'm going to get breakfast. During that time, she's going to be getting her nails done with her mom. And then the plan is I'm going to go pick her up in the afternoon to go to dinner before we head back to Dallas because she's got work, which sucks.
>> [gasps]
Little does she know that before we go to dinner I'm going to be taking her to see the areas that I used to go around whenever we lived here. We'll be taking her to my old apartment and then this is really smart. We'll be coming down and there's this little mountain area where we'll come down. I'll play it off super cool. Hopefully it's not raining. If it's not raining, I'll bring you up on that mountain and my twin brother and his wife will be hiding in the trees. They'll set up everything that we need with the ring and pictures and everything and they'll take pictures in the trees and then come out and we'll celebrate everything. So, hopefully everything works out. I'm going to knock out this Bible study and, uh, yeah. We'll see what happens.
The author closes this chapter by answering the question that's sitting underneath everything that these Jews would have. If I come to Christ, can I actually trust that God will keep his word to me? Right? Is Jesus even real? Am I actually going to get saved? Am I really going to heaven? Is any of this stuff real? That's what they're wondering. And the author's answer is pointing to Abraham. Abraham is the example the writer teaches, uh, for us to prove that beyond a shadow of a question of a doubt that God's promises do not fail.
>> But I wanted to prove to Jesus that I was a real Christian Christian because I remember growing up, um, I was that fake Christian. Like I just went to church, and I had my cross, and I thought I was doing the damn thing. And, um, well and behold that, you know, just by that belief alone, even when, um, you know, I started my journey, that I still was a fake Christian, you know? But it's only by grace and faith alone. That's all Jesus wants us to do is just to believe in him, right? And so that was, I don't know, that was crucial in this, uh, that was really important for me to hear. Um, and that kind of really changed, uh, my perspective just to kind of get a little bit closer to him and get more connected to him. So, that was big for me.
Happy birthday, dear Paige.
>> [singing]
>> Happy birthday to you.
>> Wait, did I light my wish? Nobody guessed what I WAS WISHING FOR.
>> [cheering]
>> WHAT DID YOU WISH FOR?
>> I CAN'T TELL YOU OR IT won't come true.
All right, so it is Saturday morning, the morning of the proposal, and I am currently headed to Austin to go see one of my mentors. This guy has literally changed my life. One of my first mentors whenever we moved over here, and he spent years like teaching me and my twin brother how to be better Christian men, how to study the Bible, how to love our future wives well, and I really look up to this guy. So, we used to do this all the time. I would go to Bible study at 7:00 a.m. on Saturdays with my twin, and then after we would get mentored by this guy, and we would go to Chick-fil-A basically every Saturday. And we would come with a pen and paper, and we would just ask questions about life. And this guy is just incredible. So, headed to go see him. We're going to get breakfast together, talk about the big day, and after that I'm going to give one of my clients a call on the way back. I'm going to get home, get ready, and, uh, bring Paige to go get engaged. So, stay tuned.
All right, so we're at Chick-fil-A right now. I got my boy Brendan here, and, uh, sitting in front of my mentor for the last, what, 4 years?
>> It seems like 4.
Brian here is going to be giving me some words of encouragement on the big day. So, uh, Brian, what you got for the entire internet and for me in particular? What, what words of wisdom would you give me going in to today's big event?
>> Don't screw it up.
>> [laughter]
>> How do I not screw it up though?
>> Uh, I would recommend keeping your mouth shut as much as possible. [laughter]
>> Well, I got to kind of got to use my mouth a little bit at certain points today, right?
>> Yes. Yes. Yes. No, you got it. Um, you got her all psyched out. You got it all planned except what you're going to say. So, I've, I've got a little question mark in my mind.
>> Yeah. Well, I'll, I'll figure that out later. But, uh,
>> He's going to wing it.
>> He's going to wing it.
This old man has, uh, completely changed my life in all reality. And, uh, yeah, when we decided to move from Austin, he said it was the worst decision we ever made.
>> [laughter]
>> But, uh, it all worked out so far.
>> Genius move.
>> I'm going to move from Austin to Dallas and I'm going to find a girl there. That's a great reason to move.
>> Yeah, incredible reason. Like, leave your church, leave your community, leave Bible study to find a girl, but...
>> Great move.
>> [laughter]
>> Genius move.
>> But,
>> Yeah.
It's worked out well so far, and who knows? We'll probably end up back in Austin. But, yeah, we're just getting together, and, uh, Brian's spitting some wisdom, and, uh, probably go hang out with another mentor before I get back to, uh, Paige, but it's been a great morning so far. You sure of it?
>> Yeah.
>> You sure?
>> Yeah.
Okay. So, we are currently on the way to go get dinner to finish off the celebration of Paige's birthday. Paige, you had a good birthday?
>> I've had the best birthday ever.
Why has it been the best birthday ever?
>> Um, so many reasons that it's the best birthday [laughter] ever. But one, because it was just so sweet getting to be with my best friend and my family. I wouldn't have wanted anything else.
Where are we going right now, Paige?
>> We're going to dinner at a place called Jack Allen's.
>> Mhm.
Place called Jack Allen's in Austin, Texas. We like never go to do anything fancy 'cuz I'm a bum.
>> No, you're not. It's so fun.
We normally go to like Chipotle or Cava or we cook at home, but because it was Paige's birthday, we wanted to finish it off with a bang and get a nice dinner.
>> You're not a bum. We're just creatures of habit.
>> We are very simple.
Well, we're going to get dinner and then we're going to get Paige back home 'cuz she's got to work tomorrow. Boo. But I think we've had a pretty good weekend.
>> Yeah, it's been a great weekend.
>> Yeah.
And my mom surprised me and took me to get a pedicure this morning and that was really sweet. So it's just been the best. So we'll probably have like one more clip in here maybe of us getting dinner and that'll probably be it. So subscribe if you're not subscribed already. We love you.
>> Oh my lord.
Paige. Come on. It's so magic. I'm going to get you.
>> Woo!
>> Woo!
>> I want to inspect this, huh?
>> Oh my god.
>> I guess I got to put this on here.
>> I'm literally shaking. Look at this ring. Oh my god.
>> Hm.
>> Thank you.
>> Thanks, buddy. You can, you can stop now.
>> So funny. Also, your necklace matches your ring band. Oh my...
>> Everything.
>> [laughter]
>> I got you. Yay! Woo!
>> I had literally no idea.
>> I know.
>> I would not have expected you to do it this way.
Guys, get back for a second. I want to get a good shot of y'all.
>> Your ring is beautiful.
>> Look how pretty that is.
>> I'm like literally shaking.
>> Okay, let me hold your keys for you so it's not...
>> What kind of shot do you want? No, just some more.
>> Yeah. We're going to get married.
>> We are going to get married. How does that make you feel, girl?
>> I'm like, I think I'm like in like shock. Like actually.
>> Bro.
>> It's also really hot out.
>> I know.
>> This is...
Um, I probably won't be able to open my eyes.
>> You want to go the other way?
>> 'Cuz the sun is so bright.
>> It's so bright. You just want a picture of us like...
>> Yeah, y'all just hanging out.
>> Oh, let me get these people out of here. Excuse me. Is it okay if they take some photos right now with my fiance?
>> Sorry about that.
>> Thank you.
>> We're getting married.
>> I was literally...
>> Bam, bam,
>> [screaming]
>> Paige, show them the ring.
>> [gasps]
>> Don't look at my nails. I was a silly goose, and my mom tried to take me to get a manicure today, and I said no.
Paige, were you expecting that at all?
>> No. No. Not literally not at all. I would have gotten my nails done if I was expecting it.
Bro, there were people walking literally everywhere. And we were walking up there, like where I was on this little mountain area. Like I said, everything went perfect. It didn't rain. It wasn't disgusting. It was great. But, there were just people everywhere. And we walk up, and I'm expecting Tristan and Haley to be where we're at whenever we first walk up, and they're nowhere. Did you notice how I'm like looking at my phone? Did you notice that?
>> Well, you just said you were like seeing if some of your clients were...
>> Yeah, I just like made up some...
>> [laughter]
He played everything out so well. I went to the wrong mountain first, and I get out, and I'm like, "All right, Paige, we're going up on this mountain. Do you care?" And she's like, "No." And we get out of the car, and I look at my phone to text and confirm with Tristan, like, "Where are you? You ready for us?" And he's like, "Yeah, we're ready." And I look at his location just to check, and he's 20 minutes away. He's at a different [laughter] mountain. I'm like, "What are you doing, dude?" And so, I had [clears throat] to play it off like, "Oh, I just picked the wrong mountain." And she doesn't even ask any questions [laughter] at all. I, I, I'm like, "Paige, get back in the car. We went to the wrong mountain." Yeah, she's like, "My ring's off." So, [clears throat] we just drove over here. We went up, but it went great. And, uh, she was shocked. Hopefully, Tristan, I don't know. I haven't seen the footage, but hopefully Tristan caught the angle of her [laughter] face. Like, the shock on her face, but it was perfect. So, we're going to go get some dinner and have a great night.
>> Yeah, we're going to celebrate the fact that we're going to be married.
All right, vlog, first vlog on the channel is probably done, but I forget how I finish these videos. I love you, bro. Hope you have a great day. God bless.
