They separated. Uhoh, I'm talking good now. So I told you last week you had God's Mission, which is to save the people from their sins. God's mission is to save the people from their sins. Amen. I, I don't care what you claim you're called to, if the end result is not to fulfill the will of God, and that is the result of people ending up saved, then you have come short. Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, you come short. Amen.
If, if you go in the kitchen all day long, I'm telling you, using every spice you got on the rack, amen. You got the meat slow cooking all day long, you know, you know what I'm talking about, cooking, all the house smelling all like food, smelling like, oh we, and then you have no dinner at the end of it. Something's wrong. Praise the Lord, praise the Lord. I know what I'm talking about.
You know, I, one time I, I worked for a job and, um, I, I worked two weeks and then, uh, I said, "Where's my check at?" And the guy said, "What check?" I said, "Oh no, this wasn't volunteer work. This was supposed to pay." Praise the Lord. So I told him, I said, "I need my check, check. I didn't do all this for nothing." Praise the Lord.
The, the bottom line for the mission is that God, his mission is the salvation of souls. Praise the Lord. Now all this other stuff that people running after, uh, it has its place, but if it doesn't end with the salvation of the soul, what good is it to have a well body and a sick soul? Oh, I'm talking good now.
Satan's mission, well, of course, his ultimate mission is to make sure that you stay lost. Make sure. Can I tell y'all? I don't know if I ever told y'all this story. The week I got the Holy Ghost, the week, this was the week I got on the metro to go to work and a guy walks up to me and starts talking what I thought was scripture. And he handed me a book and said, "You need to read this." And I said, "Um, I do." He said, "Yeah." And then he opened it up and it, it had a lot of "thee" and "thou"s in it, so it kind of looked like a, like the scripture to me. And I, I was a new convert. I didn't know nothing, you know. So I took it. I said, "God's gonna give me a book for free of the scriptures. Surely this, this must be God." Praise the Lord.
Well, a couple of days later, it was time to go to church and I didn't own a Bible. So you couldn't, you could have quizzed me. Brother Jaylen asked me, "How many books in the Bible?" I said, "One." Praise the Lord. "What's the Old Testament?" "I don't know." "What's the New Testament?" "I don't know." You could have quizzed me, I would have known nothing. But I came to Bible class. When I got to Bible class, one of the elders was there and I said to the elder, I said, "Hey, I said, um, look what God blessed me with." Praise the Lord. "I just got the Holy Ghost, man. I'm excited. I'm hucking and bucking and shouting and talking in tongues. I mean, I'm just all, every day of the week I'm just going off. I'm so happy. I'm, I'm yelling it to the rooftop. I'm saved, you know." And I told the elder, I said, "The Lord blessed me with a Bible." And so I took that Bible and put it in his hands. I said, "Look at." And he looked at it. It was all new and shiny and leathery looking. Praise the Lord. He looked at it. He said, "Mm-hmm." He said, "Let me take this and check this out for you." And I, I said, "Well, go ahead, take it. I said, you can bring it back Sunday." Praise the Lord. You can bring it. You know, I have my little pocket-sized Bible. I said, "You can take it and bring it back Sunday. You're surely going to enjoy it, 'cause you're an elder." Praise the Lord.
And, uh, Sunday came. He didn't say nothing about my new shiny Bible. So I said to somebody else, I said, "The elder stole my Bible. Just stole my Bible. Somebody gave, the Lord blessed me with a Bible and the elder's done stole my Bible." Said, "A thieving elder." Praise the Lord.
Well, the next week came. You know, I'm looking at him. I'm like, uh, "Did you forget my Bible?" He said, "Oh, you don't need that." I said, "Huh? I don't need the Bible? What you talking about? I don't need the Bible?" He said, "Oh, that's not a Bible. That's a Book of Mormons." You see that? The first week I was saved, the devil was trying to kill my soul. Lord, and that had enough gumption to steal my Bible. That's why I tell new converts, you need to read your Bible. You don't need no specialized book by some false doctrine pusher. Praise the Lord. I know, I know y'all know this is an aid to the Bible. No, you need the Bible first. Praise the Lord. Amen. Hey man, you don't need nothing generic. You need John's interpretation of the Bible. And John may be a good, good guy. He may be a good guy, but if John don't refer you to the book first, there's something wrong with John. Something wrong with John.
Well, Satan, he don't care how saved you are. Guess what? His mission is to get you unsaved. Praise the Lord, praise the Lord. That's his mission. Listen, all the trials that he brings, and I have to say it like that, 'cause some of the trials we have, we bought them. We bought them. Mhm. For whom the Lord loveth, he chasteneth. And the only time you need chasing is when you done something wrong. Praise the Lord. And then he said, "Despise not the chasing of the Lord." 'Cause you know when it, when it was time, now I'm just going to tell on myself. When it was time to get, get the chasing in from my mother, every, she just looked at me. I fall on the floor, I roll and scream and holler. And then when she, she, when she hit me, "Oh, I, you poked out my eye. You broke my leg. You busted my back. My skull is fractured." I exaggerated 'cause I wanted it to stop. And then afterward, she do something really crazy. She put me on her lap and said, "Now tell Mama you love her." Like you just whooped my behind, you telling me to tell you I love you? Well, guess what? She was doing it so I wouldn't get in trouble later. Lord, but guess what? That devil, oh, that devil, his mission is to wreck your soul.
And then the church's mission is to carry out the work of Christ until he returns. You know, you work for a job. Your job has you there to do what they would do. You do understand that, right? You're working on behalf of the boss, for the boss. And the moment you stop working for the boss, on behalf of the boss, you're going to be gone. Praise the Lord. They don't have you there 'cause you're so smart. They, they have you there because you can do the job. 'Cause there's plenty of smart people who can't do the job. Praise the Lord. That's, that's what I found out. And so the mission of the church is to carry on and do what Jesus would have done. You know, a few years ago, they used to say, "What would Jesus do?" Well, whatever he would do, that's what we're supposed to do. "The works that I do shall you do also." Ain't great? Ain't that what's in the Bible in John? So, so my work is his work. And if, if your work doesn't look like his work, then you're not working. Praise the Lord. I'm talking good now. Praise the Lord. We got to make sure, we got to make sure we understand that because sometimes we get so caught up in what's going on around us that we forget and stop working.
