Chad Hongren finished the game seven loss with four points on one for two shooting from the field and he's only two shots coming in the first quarter and here's his postgame interview.
You tend to sort of put the team first and we have seen emotion from you at different points but there I mean there's times where like Wendy is like bumping you on the way to the huddle like there were times he clearly tried you did you feel at any point that you almost went out of your way to like not make it about you and him like almost to a a degree you hadn't before?
Um, I mean, at the end of the day, it's always about, uh, us trying to win the basketball game. Um, you know, us as a collective, the the Thunder team trying to win the basketball game. Um, you know, and that's that's what it's always going to be.
>> For you guys. Looking forward to who knows what'll happen, but you guys are both young teams. San Antonio's a young team. They're in the same conference. You're going to play a lot potentially. How much will you use this series specifically as you kind of evaluate what you need to do, what you I'm sorry, what you what you need to get better at how you can improve.
>> I mean, uh, a lot uh, you know, you you can always learn from the tape, good or bad. And, um, you know, it it hurts a lot more, stings a lot more when, um, you know, it it culminates in in a loss, obviously. So, um, you know, the there's, uh, you know, there's no kind of, uh, you know, running from improvement. Um, you know, that's, uh, you know, I always look at it as no matter what, good, bad, win, loss, whatever it might be, you know, you have to continue to improve. So, that's the mindset.
>> It was a double digit game with about 4 minutes left. You guys cut it to eight. You tried to keep calling back. What prevented you all from getting over that hump late?
Um, you know, I feel like, uh, down the stretch, we gave ourselves a chance. Uh, we fought really hard. We just, uh, weren't able to put enough plays together, uh, to make it happen. Um, you know, a couple of those shots didn't go down, but, um, you know, we, uh, we, um, you know, just weren't able to convert enough.
>> What do you see as like the biggest challenges for you offensively tonight?
Um, uh, you know, I'm going to have to go back and watch, uh, the tape on that, but, um, you know, I feel like we were able to, you know, get to a lot of really good spots. Um, and, uh, you know, we moved the ball well and, uh, you know, found guys with advantages. Um, we just weren't able to convert enough of them into points.
Chad, there's there's sort of this concept out there of a a bad matchup. I don't know if you subscribe to that, but what about this matchup and that team sort of changes what you're asked to do?
>> Yeah. Um, you know, I'd say, uh, you know, they're a unique team, um, in terms ter terms of, uh, personnel, what their personnel do. Um, you know, I don't think there's, uh, you know, another team, um, that, uh, has the same kind of play style, I guess. Um and uh yeah, so it's it's just it's different than uh kind of the normal.
