Good day everyone. Welcome to our video tutorial about Desmos and how you will use Desmos for your math quiz activity. In your math quiz activity, you are going to observe the graph of each type of conic section. So, whatever gadget you are using, be it a laptop, computer, or phone, you will do the same thing.
On this part of your Desmos, we have some formulas here. And on these formulas, you do not have to change anything. You are not allowed to replace anything in the formulas; they are as is, okay? So, if you double-click on the formula part, you can edit it, but again, no, you are not allowed to edit the given formulas or equations.
So, in this example, I will use the standard form of an ellipse or the graph of an ellipse so that you can learn or know how to use Desmos. Okay, so on this part, we have here the color red, and this shows the graph of our conic section. So, if you uncheck this part, the graph will disappear. So, make sure that it is checked. This is for the graph of our conic section.
Next, we have these variables: h, k, A, and B. So, these are the important variables for graphing an ellipse. So, all you have to do here is to move them from left to right. Just move them from left to right, and you will observe what happens to our graph once the value of h changes. Same with k. Move it from left to right or from positive to negative, and you will observe again what happens. Same with A and B. So, this is how you will do it for this activity.
Okay, so if you double-click the part of h, k, a, or b, it will appear again that you can edit the given formula, but again, no, you will not change anything in the formula. All you need to do is to move the parts of our graph, the h, k, and A.
Next, for our h, k, we know that h, k is the center. If you uncheck this part, the point where the center is will disappear. If you unclick it, the label or the coordinates of our center will disappear. So, make sure that you do not change anything in this part, okay? Do not remove anything.
So, for all types of conic sections, there are different links for Desmos. So, you are going to open all those links to observe them. So, that's all for this video. If you have any questions or clarifications on how you will do the activity, please just message for clarifications or questions. That's all for this video, and have a nice day.
