I am here in California and just drove about 1 hour and two of the Anne Wallenberg Wildlife Overpass, which is behind me. As you can see, this is an active construction site. This is so ridiculous.
The original plan was that they were going to spend 90 to 93 million dollars to complete this wildlife overpass. A wildlife overpass is a vegetated bridge that allows animals to cross over busy highways safely. This is how this one looks like on the Hollywood Freeway as we're driving underneath it.
So, the project began, they broke ground in April of 2022. It is currently June of 2026 and still it completely cuts off at both ends. So, that was the original budget, 90 to 93 million. Well, now it is estimated that it is going to cost 114 million dollars.
Wow, this is nuts. Gavin Newsom got some explaining to do.
