[Music] Glad to see you're back for session number eight. We're in the home stretch now, so I've got to ask, how was your assignment? Did you do it? I'm sure you did.

Now, today we're moving into step six of the seven master steps: condition the new thought, emotion, decision, or action. But let me ask you, do you remember the first five steps? Step number one: understand and appreciate their world. Step number two: obtain leverage. Step number four: define the problem in solvable terms. Step five: create new empowering alternatives. And today is step six: condition the new thought, emotion, decision, or action.

When creating change, we want to make sure that any positive change will last beyond the moment and will stick in the future. A pattern won't stick just because you had a conversation. You have to condition the pattern and create reinforcement. What it all comes down to is what Tony said in an earlier session: any thought, feeling, emotion, behavior, or belief that is consistently reinforced will become conditioned.

So today, we're going to focus on two simple yet powerful skills of conditioning. The first skill is a process called anchoring, which is a way to create and condition a specific emotion, action, or behavior. In fact, you can anchor anything. You can anchor feelings, emotions, behaviors, thoughts. Trust me, anything. In this session, Tony will explain to you the process of anchoring, so when you're finished, you can go out and do it right away. By the way, you might hear some noise like this during this session. That's just Tony striking his body to set an anchor, and you'll understand more about that as you get into the session.

The second skill that you will learn today is another great way to condition any thought, emotion, decision, or action through the use of what are called incantations. So let's get started and learn about anchoring.

[Music] What's an anchor? Let me give you a little definition. Anchor, if you'll jot out your notes. An anchor is a created association between a specific stimulus and a specific state. Now, what the heck do those words mean? Well, let me give you an idea. A stimulus, what's the stimulus? Anything unique could be a stimulus. Can someone give you a weird look and that be considered a stimulus? Yes or no? A touch can be a stimulus. A sound can be a stimulus. An emotional state, you know what those are? Fear is an emotional state. Excitement is an emotional state. So anytime you learn to associate an emotional state with a particular trigger, something you see, something specific you hear, something you feel, whatever, you've learned to associate those together. Then, in the future, all you do is have to take out the trigger, and you'll feel the state. So that's literally what an anchor is. And the key word here is a created association. Notice it isn't natural. You have learned to do it. How many of you have a song that when you hear it, wham, you're back there remembering a time you're with somebody you really have strong feelings for, right? Or maybe you have, for example, a touch anchor. By the way, what is a kiss? It's an anchor, isn't it? It's a specific kind of touch that you anchor certain feelings to. But it's not the same for everybody because you learn to anchor certain feelings to some people's gifts different than other people's, okay? So anchors are happening all the time.

How is an anchor created? Let me show you how it's created. So simple, in fact, I do not have to teach you how to anchor. I have to teach you that you are anchoring, because many of you unknowingly, without meaning to, are creating negative anchors. Quite often when you're trying to help somebody, and as a result, it does not work out well. Here's how an anchor is created. Anytime, I repeat, any time, yes, any time, any time a person is in what we call an intense state. Now, by definition, an intense state would be one where you are fully what? That's right. Any time a person is in a fully associated state with their intent. Now, would ecstasy fall in that category? Yes or no? Would depression also fall in that category? Would frustration fall in that category? Would anger fall in that category? Would love fall in this category? Yes, as long as you're fully associated, your whole body's involved. Anytime someone's feeling really intense feelings, either positive or negative, doesn't matter which one it is, as long as it's intense. If, while they're at the peak of that state, while they're at the peak, someone consistently, those are the key words, while they're at the peak, someone consistently does anything unique. Anything. So let me say it again. Anytime somebody's in an intense state, fully associated, positive, negative, if during the peak of that state, someone consistently does anything unique. Now, anything might be a certain kind of look they give you over and over again while you're in that peak state, consistently. Or it could be a sound they make while you're doing it. It can be a certain kind of touch, or it could be a combination. These, anything that they do unique while you're at the peak, consistently, will get linked neurologically. So that now, when this thing happens again, this sound or this look or whatever the case may be, wham, you finish it off by going in the same state again. You trigger, you go back in the state. How many follow it? That's all anchoring is.

So when I say you're being anchored, I don't have to teach you how to anchor. You're already doing it. Anytime you're around somebody in an intense state and you do anything consistently, it'll get linked up. And sometimes people are in negative states, and you get anchored to their negative states, and you've done nothing wrong. How many people have this happen? When somebody's all mad about something, you try to cheer them up, and pretty soon they're mad at you, and then you don't link up later on why they pick a fight with you. It's because they've linked to your face. This thing. Let's say somebody comes home from work four or five times in a really lousy state. They see their spouse's face. They're not even mad at their spouse. Anger, see the spouse, angers with the spouse, angers through the spouse. One day they have a great day, they come home, they see their spouse. Guess how they feel? Angry. They pick a fight. They wonder what's going on. Interesting, huh?

I'll give you another example. Let's say John has just lost his father. Father's duck. Is John likely to be in an intense state? Yes or no? Yes. Let's say at the funeral, he's very sad, which is natural, right? And at the funeral, somebody comes by while John's in this really depressed state. Somebody comes by and goes, "Hey John, it'll be okay, man. Hang in there." If it doesn't interrupt his pattern, if he stays in this intense state while this unique touch is happening, what may have just occurred? A negative anchor. If somebody comes by and goes, "It'll be okay, John." If that's not bad enough, guess what somebody right next to them will probably do? You'll probably go, "Yeah, John, it'll be okay." Now, John is definitely negatively anchored. So now what happens? Let's say six months have gone by, and John's okay now about his father passing on, because, you know, it was time for him to go. He was 210. It was about time to do it, you know. So what happens? He's at a party, he's in a great state. Somebody comes by and goes, "Hey John, how's it going?" It hits him like this. What happens? Within 30 seconds, max, he feels totally what? Totally what? Depressed. And he doesn't even know why. How many have you ever had something like this where something happened, you don't even know what it was, but suddenly, man, you're just totally depressed, and you weren't even depressed a few minutes before? He said, "But Tony, no one touched me." Is touch the only kind of anchor you could get? Yes or no? Absolutely not. You can get anchored by a voice. There could be a piece of music playing in the background that you're not consciously noticing, but it was playing when you're really in this depressed state, and now when you hear it in the background, unconsciously, it fires off the anchor, and you go back to the state of feeling depressed. How do you follow this? It could be a smell. Smell is the most powerful anchor of all, by the way. Olfactory is the strongest state inducer we have.

Now, how do you do an anchor consciously then? If you want to do it consciously, well, anytime somebody's in a peak positive state, I anchor them. If you watch me with people on stage, I anchor people sometimes in a lousy state so that I can then get rid of it. I'm going to show you how to do that. But you've also seen every time there are peaks, that you'll see me touching the shoulder or saying, "Just as intense as you were then," or touching them on the knee. I'm creating an anchor so that when I want to, I can put them right back on that state anytime I need to. So anytime, my friends, on a great day, I'm always anchoring them with a look or the smile or something that I'll do differently, right? Just to lock in that same feeling. That's anchoring and doing it all the time.

But here's how to do it. All it takes to anchor is two steps, and then two steps to test it. Step number one to create an anchor. Here's all you got to do. Either one. Either catch the person in a peak state, either catch the person in a peak state or put the person in a peak state. That's step one. How could you put a person in a peak state? You could get them to what? Remember a time when they're in a peak state? Remember a time when you're really motivated? Remember a time when you felt really confident? Or you could say, "Show me how you stand when you're confident. Show me how you breathe when you're confident. Say something in a confident voice." Okay, right. You get them to change their body, and that'll change their state. Or change their focus, and it'll change their state. Does that make sense? So either catch the mistake, like if somebody's laughing hysterically, while they're laughing, it's a great time to anchor them because they're in a positive state and it's intense, okay? Or put them in states. That's step one. Step two: At the peak of the state, at the peak of their state, consistently do something unique. That's all it takes. Now you set an anchor.

Now, how do you know if it works? Simple. Step three. I said there are two steps to set, one and two, and two steps to check it. Step three is a checking stage. Step three is interrupt your pattern. How would you do that? You would either distract them, change their focus, or you would change their way physiology. Very good. And then finally, step four, you test it by re-firing the trigger. Re-fire the trigger. If it works, then you obviously have an anchor that works. If it doesn't, then you're obviously off. That's all it takes. Put them in state or catch them in state. At the peak of the state, right, consistently do something unique. And change their pattern so they're in a neutral state. And then fire the anchor and see if they go back into the state. That's simple. It's all it takes.

Now, if it didn't work, it's because of one of four things was off. And these are the four things that you must do well for an anchor to work. Drop them down. Number one, for an anchor to work, most important element is the intensity of the state. The intensity of the state. People often ask me, "How long will an anchor last? Can an anchor last a lifetime?" Yes or no? Can an anchor last a week? Let me tell you the difference. The amount of emotional intensity the person was having when you anchored them. If a person's like in a very intense state, you anchored them, then that anchor could be a lifetime. If they're laughing hysterically, you come back 10 years from now, and you fire the anchor, it'll work. But if they go, but if you laugh with a person's barely laughing, anchor, then that anchor might not even last a minute. You follow me? You've got to get the person fully associated in an intense state. So intensity of the state's the most important thing. And when people try to do an anchor and it doesn't work, almost always they just didn't get the person really in state. They said, "Remember Tom, when you're really motivated?" The person went, "Yep." They went, "Okay." They weren't fully what? Yeah. They didn't have their body in safe. They weren't breathing that way. "Show me how you stand when you're motivated." Then anchor. "How do you breathe? What do you say? Yes. What's your face like?" Hmm. Right. That's how you build an anchor. All right. Don't just say the whole time when you felt like sexy. Sure. You know, that won't do it. Okay. All right.

Step two, for an anchor to work, it must be done at the what of the experience? Peak. Must be at the peak. So the key secret here is timing. Key number two is timing. Peak timing. Now, you might say, "But Tony, how am I going to know where the peak is?" Trust your unconscious. So this thing about trusting your unconscious, it's not just a bunch of psycho babble, it's real. You trust your unconscious every time you get out of your chair and try and walk across the room because most of you don't think about, "Okay, now how will I rotate my right femur at this moment as I turn here?" But a part of you does ask that question, and it handles things for you. Your unconscious is more powerful than your conscious mind ever dreamed of being. Trusted. It has the answers.

Three, uniqueness. Third key is the uniqueness of the trigger. This is real important. If an anchor is going to work, it's ideal that you have a trigger that is unique. So, for example, if you want to anchor somebody and you're going to anchor them in a particular state, could you, for example, like anchor somebody laughing and do it in a state where you got them laughing, and then you shook their hand while they're laughing? Could that work? Yes or no? The answer is yes. You could, but let me tell you, here's the challenge. So let's say I get Annette here laughing hysterically, and then I shake her hand. Could I anchor her laughing hysterically and shake her hand? And the answer is yes. I could anchor her when she's laughing stoked and shake her hand. But then the problem is, someone else can might shake her hand in a totally serious situation, start laughing hysterically, and freak everything out, right? So what would happen is, I'd shake her hand, or someone else could shake her hand, she laughed hysterically, and I'm doing that three or four times. Her brain would go, "This is insane." And it would create more pain than pleasure. I could, she would not be embarrassed or be inappropriate. So she'd probably then interrupt her own pattern. Does that make sense? Plus, the other problem is, it's not a very unique anchor. Now, with me, it is because she's never squeezed the hand this large in her lifetime. The secret is uniqueness.

And then, four, you must replicate the anchor effectively. So it's not going to fire off unless you replicate it identically. What if you anchor somebody like this? You get on the peak state, and you reach out and anchor them here. And now you come and try and fire it off here. Is it going to work? It actually will not. But it could. You know why? Because when the person sees your hand coming, part of the anchor, since they're in a peak state, may have been seeing it coming towards them. But the point is, if you anchor somebody here and they see your hand coming, that could become the anchor. So it's possible. How many of you have ever had somebody going to tickle you, and they haven't even tickled you yet, but you're already freaking out? How many of that happened? Okay. That's because the visual anchor of it's starting to make you crack up already. You haven't even touched, but you can already feel it. Okay. So it's possible. But if you anchor something like this, whack, and you try and fire it off by going like this, is it going to work unless they fire it off visually? The answer is no, because this feeling has a different feeling. This feeling. And vice versa. If you said it this way, you can't hit it this way and expecting to stay and stay. Well, some people want to put something like a laughter anchor, making them feel good. They go, "Keep more time. You really felt love." And they go, "Yeah." Okay. You know, probably not the most appropriate anchor. Okay. You're doing something that may knock them out of state. So when you do an anchor, you might want to do something that's somewhat consistent with the kind of state you want them to be in, otherwise the stimulus you're using may knock them out. Okay. So you've got to replicate the anchor effectively. Very, very important. Those are the four keys.

Now, question: Can you anchor yourself? Yes or no? There's no question. You can anchor yourself. In fact, you've been doing it your whole life, right? You've been in peak states and done certain things. But the problem is, many of you have anchored yourself in lousy states. Now, what if you have this negative anchor over here? Let's use John as the example. John, who was depressed because his father died, right? Got touched on the shoulder here. How do you get rid of a negative anchor? The way you do it is by doing a process we call collapsing an anchor. And to collapse an anchor, you have to anchor, create a positive anchor, and learn how to deal with the negative. So let me show you how to do it real quick. Collapsing an anchor, how to get rid of a negative. I'll give you a simple example. Here's what you do. Let's say John knows he's got this negative anchor over here on his shoulder for depression. What does he do? Create a series of positive anchors that are much more powerful than the negative. Does someone else have to do this to you, or can you do it to yourself? Which one? Can you do it to yourself? Yes or no? Absolutely. Let me show you how. Let's say I got this negative anchor. I'm John. I got this negative anchor over here. I want to create a series of positive anchors. So here's what I do. I need to put myself in a peak state. And at the peak of the state, I need to do something unique. So, okay. I close my eyes and I got to get fully wet. So I think of a time in my life I was really in a peak state. Really in a peak state. There we go. There it is. Yes. All right. I do something unique. That's rather unique. You think of something else. Yes. Yes. No. Yes. One more. Yes. One more. Yes. Now you got that state. A little neutral. Think about something else. Change your physiology. The floor. Do something else. And now you fire off the anchor. Yes. See how it creates the same feelings? And it does. So now what I've created a series of positive anchors. I got a negative. Now what do you do? You fire both anchors off simultaneously. You go, "Yes!" That's about what happens, right? First thing happens is steam comes out of a person's ears. Why does that happen? Literally, on some people's faces, one side of the face will go up and the other one goes down. It goes asymmetrical. It scares some people when they're first doing it to someone. It's nothing to be scared of. It doesn't last. It's not permanent. It lasts for like five seconds max, usually maybe ten. But what's happening is you're firing in the brain two different neural pathways that are radically different, firing of the brain simultaneously. Does that make sense? So when they hit the brain together, the one that is stronger collapses the one that is weaker, or another way forward is neutralizes it, or it takes it over. So you go, "Yes!" All of a sudden, you hold just for a few seconds, and you'll see that person's pupils dilate, or you'll see them just look straight ahead like nothing's happened. And all of a sudden, they'll take a breath in, or you literally see one side of the face go up and the other one come down slightly, and then it'll balance out within like five seconds. You let go. And now, guess what you do? You go here, and they feel good. You go here, and they feel good, or they feel neutral, at the very least. Then you decide. Now, why do you do a series of really positive anchors? What if you do a weak anchor, an anchor that's not very strong? So you think of a time you felt really good, you go, "Yeah, yeah, yeah." Then you go, "This hand." Guess what? Now you'd be depressed on both sides. Literally. That's why you've got to make sure when you do this anchor collapse, the other side is stronger. And that's why you do a series of these as opposed to one on this hot. Does that make sense?

Now, some of you might say, "Well, Tony, that sounds great, but what if I don't know where the negative anchor is? What if I don't know what's on my shoulder?" How many were thinking that? Good. See, I have the answer. The answer is, you don't have to know. Let's say every time your boss walks in the room, you feel these really intense feelings of fear or anger. Okay? You don't know if it's the way they looked at you, or a touch, or whatever. All you've got to do is create your positive anchors. And then when you think about your boss, it opens up the whole file in your brain about your boss. Anytime you've been touched, anytime they've looked at you a certain way, any voice, that's all in that same file. So all you do is create a series of positive anchors. What do you do? You think about your boss. Think about your boss. Think about your boss. Right? Put yourself in a peak state. What do you think about your boss? And when you think about your boss, pretty soon, whenever you think about your boss, you'll feel what? You'll feel these pleasurable feelings. And also, your boss is around, you'll be neutral or positive. Okay? So that's how you collapse an anchor.

Now, let's not talk about this stuff anymore. Let's do it.

[Music] So, what's an anchor? An anchor is when you create a link between an emotional state and a trigger. So in the future, all you have to do is set the trigger, and you will feel the state. But as Tony just said, let's not talk about anchoring anymore. Let's do it. Here's what I want you to do. Within the next 24 hours, I want you to find a person and create an anchor for them. Maybe a co-worker wants to have more courage to ask for a raise, or your spouse wants more patience with the kids, or your friend wants to be motivated to lose some weight. Anything goes. Whatever it is, practice anchoring. That's how you're going to become a master at it. So remember, when you set an anchor, you first catch or put the person in a peak state. Second, at the height of the peak state, do something unique. Third, interrupt their pattern. And finally, fourth, test the anchor. Refire it. If it doesn't work the first time, don't worry. Do it again. Most likely, the person was not at the height of their peak state, or maybe the trigger needs to be more truly unique, or it was not replicated effectively. And you can have lots of fun with it. It might take you a few tries to get it right the first time, but that's why this is your assignment, so you can go out and practice it.

Now, let's move on to our next and final skill of the day: incantations.

[Music] How powerful are belief systems to shape your life? What do they control? What do they shape? Just about everything. So here's a question: Which do you think is more powerful, a belief system or an incantation? Say quickly whatever you think it is. Quick. Most of you said beliefs. Wrong. Let me explain to you. You have many beliefs inside of you, don't you? You have many beliefs that are actually in conflict. Some of your beliefs that say, "Look before you leap," and some of you say, "Who hesitates is lost." And opposing beliefs are inside of you. How many have ever noticed that you have different beliefs that actually conflict inside you? Before we have to notice this, your beliefs are incredibly powerful. They shape all your behavior. But the big question is, which belief is being activated right now is going to determine what you do right now.

So, an incantation is when you speak aloud with absolute what? Certainty. Something. Now, when you say something out loud with absolute certainty, and you repeat it again and again and again, you begin to believe it, and you become certain about it just by the repetition of it. That's how your old beliefs came about. But here's the difference: When you're speaking an incantation with total certainty, out loud, and your body engaged, a belief is in resident memory. It's like stored back here. When you're encamping something, when you're saying an incantation, you're engaging your entire nervous system with the full force of your focus, your emotion, your body, everything. So it's an activated belief structure. And its power, it far surpasses any other belief you once had before. If you repeat it with enough emotion, it will more than presuppose or more than collapse the old belief structures that don't belong there. The consequences of incantations are more powerful than what beliefs, because incantations are an active use of your neurology and physiology, whereas beliefs are passive, resonant memory. Beliefs are stored, while incantations are active physiological events.

Now, here's the danger. Often, people realize that they don't really believe what they're saying, but they keep saying it. They make it okay by rationalizing. "Well, you know, I know better." Here's what you've got to know: Knowing better will not make you better. Speak that what you wish to become. Remember, you can't get rid of an incantation, you must replace it with a positive one, one that consistently causes you to feel and experience and be your best. What you consistently speak with emotional intensity, you will experience, you will create, and you will become. The words that you speak with enough emotional conviction become the life you live. This is your heaven. This is your hell.

Let me tell you why I feel so passionately about this. I'm just a little boy from Azusa, California. I have no role models within the range of my family or friends that ever did anything of any significant size or scope in their life. I have plenty of alcoholics. I have plenty of extremely unhappy people. I have no role models. If you see me within my family, there is no one like me in my family, even slightly. My sister is a love and that way, she's like me. That's about it, period. Everybody in my family, they're proud of me, but I'm a freaking nature. As you might guess, there's no one like me, no place, nowhere, no role models. How did I end up here, having the privilege to be with you? Incantations. I decided what I wanted, and I conditioned myself to become who I am. I did not walk around with a sense of certainty and this that didn't come like me just waking up. I didn't feel that way. I wasn't that way. I became that way by sculpting myself. And I did it since I was so tall and so high mentally and emotionally by deciding what I needed to create. I can remember specifically, I started reading about the idea of affirmations, and when I do them, they just didn't feel strong enough. And something inside of me told me, "I can't just say this. I gotta embody it. And I gotta embody it so much that I believe it, and the deepest resonance of my soul."

And I had one experience. I was working as a janitor. I was in high school. And in order to survive, my mom kicked my father out, and my dad went back east, and I was on my own. I figured how to survive. My mom thought I was on his side, so she kicked me out. Next, she kept my 1960 Volkswagen. I earned making $40 a week as a janitor, so I had nothing. I could figure out how I was going to survive. So I slept on this little mountain top next day. I slept in somebody's laundry room. And I went out, and the first personal development book I ever read and bought was called "The Magic of Believing" by Claude M. Bristol. And in it, he talked about this idea of writing what you want and seeing it and visualizing it. Real basic stuff. And then saying it over and over again to yourself, writing it on your mirror, and staring into your mirror and saying it over and over again as you looked into your own eyes, literally hypnotize yourself into that place. I had no resources, no choices. You would not have picked me to be most likely to succeed in any way, shape, or form. But what I did different than most people is I didn't just read this, I did it. I trained myself. I trained and conditioned my mind and my emotions every day. I had all these crazy posters. I didn't have any money, so I scribbled the stuff on the wall. It's horrible. I think it's like, "Only a loser gets depressed." Because I was depressed all the time. That was not what I was going to be. I remember one time, about six months later, I was extremely successful, and I was only 17 years old, economically successful, because that was what I thought success was at that point. And I had a gentleman that used to make fun of me, that was about five, six years my senior. He came to my house and he saw this written on the mirrors and goals and crap everywhere, right? And these incantations that I was speaking. And he made fun of me. And then about another six months later, I was off the charts at my level of success, the only thing he ever dreamed of, totally surpassed where he'd been working for six years. And one day I went to his house, and I looked, and there's all these posters on the walls, written in soap on the mirror, and all the things doing these pieces, right? Complete change.

I remember one night I was working as a janitor, and I was taking buses because my mom took my car. So I'm on my own. She called and told my uncle I was associated with not to assist me in any way. So I had no cash, no anything. So I would take these buses, and it was about 15 miles from where I live. So literally, it was three different buses, and you had to hook up at the right time. Then I clean these banks all night till two or three in the morning, come home, get up on four hours sleep, and go to high school. It's not an easy experience. So I love cleaning the banks because you could do it at your own. I had music cranking. I was thinking, I was doing crazy stuff. I wrote people little messages. I was even connecting in those days, all the bank tellers who never met me, just in my little messages from cleaning their place. And I come outside at 2:30 in the morning, and I'm standing at the bus stop for an hour, you know, buses are sometimes late, but an hour. And I'm freaking. There should be another bus by now. No bus. Finally, around 3:45 in the morning, so one guy comes by, goes, "Man, what are you doing standing there?" "I'm waiting for the bus, man." "Did you hear?" He points to the newspaper stand. I go over and look, and it says, "Bus strike." I have 14 miles to be home. I don't have anybody caught of any money. So, you know what I did? I ran. I'd never run three miles. I was not a runner. But while I was running, I just started doing these incantations. In the beginning, frankly, it was anger that got me going because like, "I'll show her. I'll show her. My mother kicked me out, took my dad, and I'll show her." That gave me a lot of juice. But after a while, you burn out on just anger, right? So then I just started doing these old things I remember reading from those old books. "Every day and in every way, I'm getting stronger and stronger." "Every day and in every way, I'm getting stronger." And I do that for like 10 minutes. And "Every day and in every way, I'm getting happier and happier." And I do that for 10 minutes. And I would do this forever. And the amount of energy that you generate when you're not just exercising, but your emotions are being exercised, is unbelievable. Emotions, the right emotions, are energy generators. I ran the full amount. I got to the end of this piece. To this day, that determination, courage, faith, thing, compassion, the determination one, I ignited in body in that day, and it's never gone away because the intensity of what I pushed through was so forceful. To this day, I can feel what happened when I was 17, that potent, because I did it for what? Two hours continuously in my body.

So then I wanted to be able to generate more financial freedom because I'm so financially stressed. I had nothing. So I came up with this incantation. I kept saying it, so I can memorize it. Still use it to this day. "God's wealth is circulating in my life. His wealth flows to me in avalanches of abundance. All my needs, desires, and goals are met instantaneously by infinite intelligence, for I am one with God, and God is everything. Amen." And I would do that for hours. For hours and hours. After an hour of doing that, you have no idea how your body is vibrating. You have no idea the energy that's just coming out of you. Have no idea the certainty you have, the playfulness you have. And you know that there's no question. A year later, I made a million dollars. I've never even made $38,000 in a year. Everywhere around was like, "How do you do it?" I told them, like, "Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I know that affirmation." Yeah. Every day, every seminar, I've gotten up to ask anybody what they see me do backstage. I've never gone on stage without doing my incantation. "Now I command my subconscious mind to direct me in helping as many people as possible today by giving me the strength, the emotion, the humor, the brevity, whatever it takes to get these people to change their lives now." And then I make my moves. And then I step out calmly, quietly, or intensely, because every part of me is wired and ready. And I come out. You use a lot of energy. You see that tip of the iceberg. So when somebody steps up, and they're kind of like certain about something, certainly needs certainty. I'm ready to deliver and serve for you. Now, could I walk here without doing that? Do I know enough? Of course I do. But I don't do it just to be okay. I do it to be my best. And I turn on every possible cell, nerve of my body to be ready to serve every time. And the reason I do it every time is I have to think about it. I have a specific place and location. I do it every time. That's the secret to incantations, not just to create one, but to schedule it. So that every time you get in the shower, you do two minutes of it, or every time you're going to go have lunch, or for me, right before I go on stage, every single time. Do I think about it? No. It's like tying your shoes. But what it does is ignite a more powerful part of you than you'll ever get by thinking. You don't have to have an incantation rhyme. It doesn't have to make any sense. Sometimes when I run, I'll just run and say, "Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, God. Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, God." Overnight. It doesn't matter. All that matters is you say it consistently, and that you feel it in your soul. Enough times, and you will own it. You won't have to try and convince yourself. You don't have to remember this. It'll happen.

And I've given you some references. Joseph, my friend, is a great songwriter. So I gave him some subjects and said, "Would you write a few?" So he wrote this one: "And last, at last, the past has passed. I've broken free and won. And now it's time to love myself and really have some fun. A bolder world is on the rise for all of us, and I'm the one. Yes, I'm the one, the beacon that lights the path." Joseph's God's wealth. "One. All I need is within me now." Say that one. Just the first part. "All I need is within me now." Say it again. "All I need is within me now." Don't look at it. Just look up and say it. Feel it stronger. Enjoy it. Keep saying it. That's it. Keep going. Now, the way you drive it deeper is emphasize one word. Just the first word. "Now." "All I need is within me now." Go. Again. Again. And you can do that for three or four minutes. Now emphasize the second word. "All I need is within me now." Go. Emphasize "need." "All I need is within me now." Go. "Is within." "All I need is within me now." "Me." "Is within me now." "All I need is within me now." "All I need is within me now." "All I need is within me." "All I need is within." Does it feel different in each one? It goes to a different place, doesn't it? And you'll never get bored. Plus, if you do these things over and over again, you'll get addicted to them. Even when you're not thinking about it, they'll start to drive what's going on. But the point is, you must control your incantations.

So I'll give you an example. True story. I do a lot with mentoring. I've been involved in mentoring movement for years. But I've been mentoring a group of kids since the fifth grade for eight years. I mentor them, and I promised in the fifth grade, if they stayed in school, kept the B average, and in addition to that, if they went out and gave me 25 hours of community service every year, I'd pay their college education. I want to change these kids' belief about themselves. So I give them a reason, a goal, a reason to keep their standards up. But also, they live in one of the toughest parts of Houston, Texas. I give you an idea how bad it was. These kids all thought they needed help, right? I wanted them to go and help others so it would change their belief about themselves, their identity, so they would not help each other. The first day I gave an assignment. An assignment was, "Write what you're really grateful for in an essay." And this one little girl wrote, told a true story, "I'm really grateful that Mommy shot the dog instead of Daddy last night when she got upset because our first day in my mentoring with her is kind of an interesting first day, right?" But anyway, the reason I tell you that is because I have mentoring projects all over the place. And there's one girl up in San Jose who was a straight-A student. She was in the alternative high school, addicted heroin, Latino girl, and Latino gang. And she kept saying, "But I can't get out. I can't get out." And one day she was in a part of a drive-by shooting, and her best friend was shot, and she died in her arms. That made changing out of the gang from a should to a what? But then she still couldn't do it because her belief said she couldn't get out. She kept saying, "I keep hear their voices saying, 'We're your only family.' I keep going to say, 'You're not going to live to be 30 anyway.'" She kept saying, "I can't do it because I keep hearing these voices. I don't believe is what she was saying." And I said to her, "I said, honey, you've got to change the conditioned voice inside your head because that's what's controlling you. Even though you're not trying to raise your standard, the belief is pulling you down. And the only way to change it is to drill it into your nervous system consciously." As a leader, because what this voice is, there is no voice. I said, "Say this now: 'I am the voice. You.'" And now, "I am the voice." I said, "No, an incantation. Your whole body." So she went, "Now I am the voice." You can just watch her shoulders come back, and her face change. It's like, wham, in her nervous system. And so I wrote this out for her. I said, "Now write down this: 'I will lead, not follow.'" I said, "You're following right now. You say you're a leader. You're following all these girls. Just 'I will lead, not follow.'" And I gotta say it's strong. So I've got inner body. "I believe, not doubt." Because she kept saying, "But I'm not sure." I said, "I believe if you doubt your beliefs and believe your doubts, you're in trouble." "I believe, not death." "I create, not destroy." So you've been destructive. It's time to create. "I'm a force for good." What does it feel like when you're a force for good? When you do something simple, kind for someone who you just know what you did makes a difference? How does that make you feel about your own life? And I got her to think about that. I said, "Say that and mean it: 'I'm a force for good. I'm a leader.'" And then three last phrases. I said, "Your job is not saying 'Oh, just say no to the gang.' Just say no to drugs." That's so wimpy. You're getting a state of total defiance. Have you ever been to that place where you defy the odds? Because she's saying, "Well, the odds are against me. Everybody says I'm at risk." I said, "Did you ever do that in the fight? The odds are against me." She was no. "Jew in this state." I would. That's the state you want. Only you want to direct that defiance against the odds, against limitations. Defy your fears. Defy everybody who says you can't make it. Defy it. Don't just try and set a new standard. How does it feel when it becomes your standard? It's here instead of here. And I said, "The final thing is, you gotta learn to step up. Step up. Step up." So we wrote this out, and she said it. She did it over and over and over again. And all I had to do is, I had her do it for literally 20 minutes. And then I had to do some music where she clapped in rhythm and kept saying, "Yes, yes." Imagine yourself leading. And what it did is literally condition your nervous system. Postscript: One year later, first of all, golf heroin immediately. Got out of the gang immediately. Got two other girls out. They don't let you out of these Latino gangs in San Jose easily. They come out you with a baseball bat. She got out. But the other girls out. Became a straight-A student. She's now in college. All by changing her belief structures. That's all it takes. Yeah, give her a hand for sure.

[Music] So here's what I want you to do right now. Put yourself in that center strong state. In a moment, we're going to go in that peak state again. We're going to do "yes." But then we'll have you get centered, and we're going to do this incantation. You don't have to use this afterwards. I just want you to feel what it feels like to encamp something. The first of all is repetitive. Your job every time is do it more powerfully. Don't just say it. Use your whole body. When you stay up, let's see what it feels like because then later you can change this to whatever you want.

[Music] Okay, this is Andy again. Now, let's get into this. Are you in peak state? I want you to get to a level 10 in peak state. Do whatever it takes to get there. We're going to do the same incantation Tony did with the girl in the gang in San Jose. I want you to repeat after me. Are you ready? Okay. Now, "I am the voice." Now, "I am the voice." "I will lead, not follow." "I will create, not destroy." "I am a force for good." "I am a leader." "Step up. Step up. Step up." Now, "I am the voice." "I will lead, not follow." "I will create, not destroy." "I am a force for good." "I am a leader."

[Music] Step up. Step up. Step up. Come on. Now, "I am the voice." "I will lead, not follow." "I will create, not destroy." "I am a force for good." "I am a leader." Step up. Step up. Step up. Wow. Okay, how did that feel? Can you sense the power of incantations? Remember, they don't have to be this long. They can be a single sentence or even a word. You just want to make sure that you say it with the right emotional intensity.

Now, we already have the assignment to create an anchor in someone. But if you want some bonus points, I'm sure you do, yes, you can do some extra credit and create an incantation for yourself. What about that? Are you up for the challenge? All right. We're at the end of today's session. Tomorrow, we will move on to our final step: relate to a higher purpose, connect to an empowering environment. You will learn about the importance of peer group identity and creating an empowering environment to help make change last. I look forward to joining you on our next to last session. See you tomorrow.
