In today's video, we are going to talk about transport. The first question is, what transport do you usually use? I usually use my car to go to work. It is very far, so I can't ride my bike to work, and it rains often in England, so it's dangerous to use a motorbike.
How often do you use public transport? I use public transport when I go on holiday or when I visit a city in England. I live in the countryside in England, so there aren't a lot of buses or trains, and of course, there isn't an underground.
How often do you take a taxi? I take a taxi when I go on holiday. I live in the countryside, so when I need to go to the airport, I have to take a taxi. It normally costs about £60. It's very expensive, but it's cheaper than parking my car at the airport, especially if I go on holiday for 2 weeks. I don't like to take a taxi because it's very expensive, so if I can, I ask my family or my friends to take me to the airport.
What is your favorite form of transport and why? My favorite form of transport is a train. You can travel short and long distances on a train, and it's very comfortable. When you go on an airplane, you need to go to the airport, go through security, and it's more stressful. But on a train, the journey is comfortable; you don't have to prepare for the travel so much, and you can travel long distances quite quickly. For example, I can travel to London by train, and it takes about 2 or 3 hours.
Have you ever ridden a motorcycle or motorbike? No, I haven't. I don't think that I would like to ride a motorbike. I think that cars are safer, and I am scared of falling off the motorbike.
Have you ever ridden a horse or a camel? I have ridden a camel when I was on holiday, not in England, but I have ridden a horse in England. There are quite a lot of horses in this country and a lot of horse-riding schools, but it is quite expensive to ride a horse, so I don't do it very often.
What makes of car are popular in your country? I think that the most popular brands are Audi, BMW, Ford, Mini, Mercedes, Land Rovers. But you also see Honda, Tesla, Jaguar, Nissan. There are some British car brands that you don't see often, for example, Bentley, Aston Martin, or Jaguar, because they are very expensive. But you often see Mini and Land Rovers.
What do you think is the safest kind of transport and why? Well, people always say that planes are the safest kind of transport. There are thousands of flights every day around the world, and there are not many accidents. So this is a reason why I think it's the safest kind of transport. Although when I'm traveling on a plane, I don't feel like it is. I get quite nervous and a little bit scared when the plane takes off. I think this is quite common; there are a lot of people who are scared of flying, but not a lot of people who are scared of getting in a car or in a taxi or on a train. So it's not just me.
Is petrol expensive where you live? Yes, petrol is quite expensive where I live. At the moment, the petrol costs £1.57 per liter; that's €1.79.
How can we use less petrol? Well, I think that it's difficult to use less petrol if you have to go to work. If you work from home, then obviously you don't use so much. But if you have to go to work and you don't have the option of using public transport, then it's quite hard. If you live in a city and you can use the underground or a train or a bus, then it's easier. There are more and more electric cars on the road as well, so they use less petrol. But the problem is that they are very expensive, so the people that don't have enough money to buy an electric car can't reduce the amount of petrol that they use. For example, in my case, I live in the countryside, and I have to drive to work, but electric cars are too expensive for me to buy.
Have you ever been on a boat? Yes, I have been on small boats and on ferries, but I have never been on a cruise ship. I would love to go on a holiday on a cruise because you can visit different countries, and also you can do many fun things on the ship, like swimming in the pool, watching shows in the evenings, practicing different types of sports, and just relaxing. I like to watch videos of cruise ships on YouTube because the new modern cruise ships are amazing; they have so many things to do, and I don't know if you would have time to do all of the things that they offer in just one week.
