Who would have thought? Matthew Jones. Who knew?
I showed that you are currently taking kinesiology 4165. Is that right?
I believe so. In the summer. Yeah. Yes, I'm taking a health class in the summer. And then uh the other one that I'm taking uh I actually have my I'm actually on my dashboard right here. Let me double check. Uh so yeah, survey of school health safety and then educational tech foundations. Educational what? Uh, educational tech foundations. Oh. Oh, okay. Edit 4170. Okay, cool. Yes. All right.
So, I showed that you've got child development done. Perfect. You're taking edit 4170, 4310 in the fall, 4100 in the fall, 4870 in the fall. Okay. And 4165 in the summer. Yeah. Okay, cool. Yes, you are. You're good. You've got it. Okay. Good. You're You're set. You're set. Okay. All right. Let's call this official intern advising, shall we?
Let's do it. Okay. All right. So, I'm going to I'm going to encourage you to take some notes.
I definitely will. We are theater current. Okay. Current current. I have the CP. Okay. do needs needs EPA. Okay, I'm just taking some notes from me.
Sure. No, no, absolutely. Um letter. Okay. So, what I will do is um actually, you know, this is a good time because I just finished writing your letter. So, I will send it to you as soon as we're done. Okay. Um, I'm going to I'm going to copy several different people on there. One, I'm going to copy Dr. Heather Dean. She is the field placement coordinator. She needs to know that you are going this route. Um, so it's important that you know you can she knows and you've communicated with her that you you do have a job. You are not going to be needing a cooperating teacher. field services. They're going to also be on this on this email um because they need to be aware of that as well. So that you're not going to have a cooperating teacher, but you will have a university supervisor that only is going to do virtual observations with you because you are in LA. Okay. Um the other PE people are doctors Leona Caukins and Drs. Uh Arlington. Okay. So, they are the co-cordinators of the single subject credential program. They're going to be in the in the note as well. Um, but two people I need you to make note right now is one Ivonne Snider. She is my assistant in teacher education. How do you uh spell her name? Um, I'm going to have so Y V O N E, but I'm going to have her copied on the email so you'll see her also. But um what's important is that she will um you so when you do pass your TPA and you have official scores, you need to send those official scores into her for tracking. Okay, that kind of helps us figure out, all right, you're making progress towards you completing the program and all of, you know, all of the uh necessary material that you need in order to get your credential, but also helps me advise you if I need to advise you further on down the road.
Sure. And that that'll be further down the road, right? Uh advising uh TPA like uh Oh, TPA. Yeah. As soon as you start clinical practice in the fall, you're gonna you're going to have those conversations in those courses. Yeah. Okay. Um the other person is Lupita Venturro. Okay. So, she is my credential analyst um working with us to take care of all the interns and the intern paperwork. So, she's the person you're going to be ping ponging back and forth, okay, on email. So, I'm going to encourage you to make sure that you copy, okay? send the email that I send you with the letter to your HR person who whomever you are working with closely to complete the intern paperwork and then I'm also going to encourage you to um make sure that you get that person copied on all correspondence you have with Lupita and our credential services so that there is clear lines of communication that there is no you know no question that this is happening and what the possible timelines are. Does that make sense?
Yes. So, um, when you say HR, that's the same thing as my contract specialist, right?
Yeah. Whoever you're going to work with to to complete the paperwork is who you should know that this is happening. Okay.
Sure. For sure. Okay. And it's up to you who else you need to copy. Okay. Um, so you'll do that and that's going to get so the letter of intern eligibility today will get that paperwork started. Okay. Now, um, have you already received a contract or a letter of employment for next academic year?
I have not yet, but I know they're renewing it because they they told me that they were. Um, I think that once I get this sent over. Um, so just to be clear. Yes. So, Yavon Leita. Um, and then, uh, I would send that over to Cindy, who's my HR contract specialist. So, those three, and then I guess I should probably put my, uh, principal who employed me on the email, too.
Yeah. I mean, I think that would be that would be helpful. Yeah. So, okay. So, Cindy is going to be your contact person in your HR, right? So, um there's but so you're going to have um either they're going to draft you a letter of employment, okay? Or a a copy or like a contract for next academic year. Whatever they send you, you know, whatever you can one of those two would be sufficient for Lupita. However, it you must have several different things indicated on either your offer letter or your assigned contract. So e both of those should be either signed. Okay. All right. But one you have to have the district name indicated. It has to be visible on this document for Lupita to move forward. So, your district name, the name of the school where you are going to be placed, the content you are teaching, the grades you are teaching, and the start date of your internship. So, all five of those pieces need to be indicated on either your signed offer letter or signed contract for next academic year. Okay? Once you and that toita kupita will then send you back an internou that's memorandum of understanding. Basically it means that um standstate and your district are going into a contract over you to support you um equally um throughout this whole process. It is a actual contract. So, it's a contract. Please make sure you you take a look at it and read through it. Okay. Um that you and your HR will need to complete that. Okay. It's also going to let me know if you need me to stop.
Okay. Uh I think I've got it. Yeah. Okay. Okay. I type very fast. Uh, you have the same face when I'm like really like intently like concentrating and taking notes. Tom Cruz face. Very intense. Yeah, it's very like intense, you know. Um, okay. So, the intern you and your and your HR will need to complete the intern application that she's also going to send you. You need to complete that in its entirety as well. Okay. You're going to send both those pieces back to Lupita with um a certificate of completion for a comprehensive CPR including infant, child, and adult. In the digital folder materials I sent you, there is a flyer for um American Red Cross or American Heart Association. Either of those would work. You may already have one.
Yeah, I took one uh right around um the holiday in December. So, so you can send that, too. But please send all three of those pieces in one email to Lupita. Do not send them separately. That only um that only like lengthens the processing time. Okay.
Sure. So So the um the the things that you told me, the paperwork from from my school with all all the things that you listed, um the CPR and then um the other one was the CPR intern. Oh, yeah. Yeah. intern application. Okay. Okay. Once you send that to Lupita, you will then have 20 days to process. Please let your HR know that this is not going to happen overnight. So, it is going to be a process. A sometime within those 20 days, okay, you're going to hear from the CTC. So the CTC will email you possibly requesting more information but they will definitely ask you to pay for your intern credential. Once you take care of that with them then they will send you a confirmation email and you are now being recommended for the intern credential. Upon receipt of that, you can then look yourself up on the CTC website and note that the date of issuance of the support of the intern credential. That's important to date because that starts your 2-year clock. Okay. What that means is Dan State and the state of California will provide you up to two years of support under the intern credential while you complete all requirements leading to your SP 2042 preliminary teaching credential. We will not extend beyond two years. Please note that. Okay. Um, now what's also important that you have this conversation with your HR is while we are going to give you two years, they're not required to do the same. They could say, "Oh, no, Matt, we want you to get it done all in one year." And they're within their rights to do so. So, please make sure that you have that conversation. Ask them, "Are you going to support me for the full two years of the intern credential as I'm getting from Stan State?" Okay. If not, then let's kind of rethink about how you're going to get it all done. Okay.
Sure. Right. Um, question so far?
I don't think so. I think I'm on the pathway to according to Dr. Riddle, it should be done in a year.
I believe you should. Okay. But again, so you do have two more semesters of methods and clinical practice. Okay. within that time. So next, so for fall 25, typically you would then work on cycle one of your TPA. Okay? In spring of 26, you would work on cycle two of your TPA while you're taking your second methods and your clinical practice. Okay? If you complete program and you've passed both of your TPAs, then that's when you would actually apply for your preliminary teaching credential in the end. And so for fall of 26, you won't have to worry about us because you will have your preliminary credential.
Sure. Sure. Okay. If you don't pass TPAs or you don't take care of that, then you still have time. You're covered under the intern credential to be in the classroom legally as you are working to complete that. So if you do extend and you still have TPA left for in fall of 26, then that's when you will then take another intern support class, but focusing on whichever TPA you want have left to take. Does that make sense?
Yes, it does. It does. Okay. All right. Um Okay. So I hope I answered that.
I think so. Yeah. Okay. All right. Um Okay. So, in the in the digital folder material, you will have seen that there's a welcome back letter. Please take a look at that because I that was for my spring um interns. I'm going to have one for my fall interns as well where it's basically the same thing. But if you really want to know like, oh,
