This is what Irish people actually mean when they say certain words. I got sent this list. I'll tell you if it's accurate.
I know what you're thinking. Grand is looking very [ __ ] complicated. Don't worry, I'll help you. So, grand is just something you say when somebody asks how you are. It's the law. You're not allowed to say anything else.
"How you doing?"
"I'm grand."
It can mean anything from "this is the greatest day ever" to "my life is burning down right in front of my [ __ ] eyes. Please hold me."
I know what you're thinking. It's how you say it, isn't it? So I'll show you. So here it is. If I'm very good, I'm grand. And here it is. If I'm very bad, I'm grand. There's no difference. And that's what's so [ __ ] beautiful about this country. We don't burden you with our stupid [ __ ] feelings.
The Irish people are so resistant to talking to each other. We've come up with slang that nobody's actually supposed to know the meaning of cuz it's none of your [ __ ] business. I know in America you love [ __ ] sharing all the time. "Oh, how are you doing?" "Oh my gosh, it's been a day." Who gives a [ __ ]? Everybody's had a [ __ ] day. I woke up this morning and there was no milk in the house. And I'm not putting that stress on you.
