I'm gonna hold your hand while I say this, but there is enough time. And I know as a high achieving type A woman, you want to blame the fact that you never have enough time on your schedule or your team that can't function without you or the pool of building an empire while raising tiny humans. But I'm here to stop the violin playing and reveal three brutal truths about why you never have enough time.
And before you leave thinking, "She doesn't understand my complicated, busy life," you should know this. I'm a neurossychologist who has helped dozens of high achieving powerhouse women reclaim their time using systems. And I would love to help you do the same. So, to start, let me show you how to fix a mistake that's killing your productivity before you even get started.
So, imagine you're at the gun range, ready to shoot at your target. Do you think you'd be more successful hitting your target in scenario A or scenario B? Scenario A, you step up to the plate to shoot, but you love a good goal, so you've added three other bullse eyes around your main one. You can't decide the best strategy, so you also decide to shoot a bow and arrow and throw an axe at the same time. And instead of focusing and aiming, you put on some Beyonce and spin around and just let it rip. That's scenario A.
Scenario B. You step up to the plate in complete silence. You pull out your rifle. You focus squarely on one target. You ground yourself. And you intentionally shoot with clarity and knowhow. Which scenario do you think you'd be more likely to hit your target? Well, scenario B, of course. The problem is most high achieving women are doing the same thing from scenario A with their goals and with their time. They're stepping up to the plate with way too much on their plate and then they're wondering why. Why do I never have enough time to do it all?
The first brutal truth of why you don't have enough time is because you are scattered. So for the type A women that I serve, this scatterness is fueled by a few things. The first thing is perfectionism. So you're majoring in the minors instead of what actually matters. You're getting caught up in the little nuances of making everything perfect. And so you're adding a lot to your plate or you're spending too much time in one thing kind of all over the place because of this perfectionism.
Another piece of this scatteredness is just not slowing down to be intentional. You're in go go go mode and you don't value the idea and you're not leaning into the belief that you can slow down to speed up and you're not taking that time to be intentional. And then another thing that is common that fuels this scatterness is just putting way too much on your plate. fueled by the limiting belief that you're not doing enough and ultimately under that is that I'm not enough. So, you're constantly adding more to prove your worth in some unconscious way and also adding more to try to feed this limiting belief that I'm not doing enough. It's not enough. I got to do more. I got to do more. If you kind of tied your identity to your achievements and your busyiness.
So, in my program, Systemize Your Goals Accelerator, I teach my clients a goal system that they can reliably use to go from scattered to streamlined in their personalized and also in their work. So, here's how it works. I teach them to create a goal system, one first for themselves. And that consists of getting really clear on their vision, their mission, their values, what's most important for this season of life so they can prioritize. And then once they have their priorities and they're clear on that, they're going to come up with a strategy. And then the last piece of their goal system is their reverse goal plan. And once they have that in place, I have them create a similar thing for either their business or their career so they can be more even more intentional. Because once you have a proper goal system in place, you can prioritize for your season of life and for your day-to-day life as well. And it's going to save you time and create more time for actually what matters because you're operating from an intentional streamline.
By the way, I just opened doors to my systemize your goals accelerator. If you like to work with me and steal my systems that I teach my clients, click the link below to apply. And even if you're just a little bit interested, click that link and book your call because spots are limited before doors open again. I know I get emails on the daily basis on how to work with me. Here is finally a chance. So, don't miss out. Be sure to click the link below.
Okay, let's move on cuz this next brutal truth can be such a game changer for you. So, have you ever read a really good book, you've taken lots of notes, highlighted almost on every page, but when it came time to actually use those notes from the book, they were nowhere to be found, or you didn't have the time to go back and scour them. Or worse, when you really could have used that information from the book, you didn't even remember the knowledge existed and couldn't apply it. That's what it's like when you don't have a structure or a system designed for action. You might be storing things here and there, scheduling things by the seat of your pants or duct taping your business together. But when it's time to actually sit down and do the work, you're completely disorganized even though you've stored a lot of things, they're everywhere.
So, the second brutal truth of why you never have enough time is because you're disorganized. So, let me show you how to create organization systems that give you the structure you need to reclaim your time so you can do less and achieve more. I teach my clients to get organized with four crucial systems to reclaim their time. These are really robust systems on their own, but I want to touch base on a core tenant so you can start using them today.
So the first one is going to be a task management system. More specifically, you want to create a second brain system so you can organize all your things for actionability. I have tons of videos on my channel about the book building a second brain. Uh, I have my productive boss notion system that has a built out second brain, very robust notion system for you. But the idea is to have a place where you can capture all your things and organize them in a way for actionability. So, you're going to have a task, a running to-do list, you're going to have a projects area, you're going to have a life area, and you're going to have your resources and archive. So, it uses the parah method, and you're going to organize. So, when you sit down, you can just pull information very easily. Again, I have other videos that explain that. The main thing that you can start doing today if you don't want to get started with a whole second brain is creating that running to-do list and developing this capture habit. So, every time something comes into your brain, I want you to have the the habit of capturing it in your running to-do list and in your [music] second brain. And that's going to start to get all your things organized so they're all in one place of all your to-dos.
The next thing that I recommend is having a time management system. So come up with a way that you stick with how you organize your time. I teach my clients my BBB method which includes first time blocking out your non-negotiables. So things like your weekly routines and your must dos like appointments. And then once you have those in your weekly plan, planning around them your to-do items based on batch days. So you set your batch days and then you time block your to-do items around your non-negotiables for each batch days. If you want more details on that, I have videos on my channel about the BBB method that I use. And the main habit that you want to take away from your time management system, whatever you decide to use to organize your time, is incorporating hybrid planning. So, I really don't recommend doing all your time blocking in your digital calendar. Things get lost in translation, your brain gets tired of looking at it and starts to over gloss it, and it can become too overwhelming to have everything in a digital calendar. So, I really recommend only keeping your non-negotiables in your digital calendar and then planning your weeks and your days in your paper planner. And I've taught this system to many powerhouse women of all levels of income. So, it can really be flexible depending on your life. And some of the most successful women that I know use this sort of hybrid planning. And then the other habit that's going to be important for your time management system is your weekly review habit. So taking time at the end of your week to review your week and plan the upcoming week. That's going to make sure you keep that organization system of your time going and working for you.
Then the third organization system that I teach is having a boss operating system using my rocket launch framework. So I teach this to business owners or highlevel career women to come up with the operating system for either their business or their career so that they have one hub, one place that they can go to for all their workflows, for all their business flows. Have an operating system where they know where everything is when they need to sit down to work or collaborating with your team or other people in the workplace. So getting all your business or career stuff organized is going to also help you save time. And the main thing that you're going to be organizing there are your processes and your procedures for either your business or your career. And then the main habit that you want to keep up with there to make sure you're continuously saving time and not wasting time is your SOP habit. So just getting in the habit or having a routine where you update your SOPs. Those are living documents. They're not set it and forget it. And also taking the time when you have something that you're having to constantly reexplain to someone or someone on your team is messing up a lot. you're having to troubleshoot a lot of fires or you yourself just keep forgetting how to do stuff, taking time in the moment, your SOP habit of documenting what you're doing so that the next time you have to do it or [clears throat] someone else has to do it, it's much easier.
And then finally is your home management system. Definitely having a system to upkeep your home. I teach my divine home management system which is particularly formatted for high achieving working women. having a system of routines and structures and processes and systems that keep your house running on autopilot essentially. And the main two habits that I really emphasize to my clients with your home management system are pieces of my divine home management system. One I call your daily bread. Those are like your daily routines or your daily rituals. And I call the second one weekly church which are just your weekly routines that you do. Making sure that you have set things that you do daily and weekly in your home to keep it going. things like clutter checks, your morning routines, your evening routines, those sorts of things, and things that you do on a weekly basis just to keep you and your family taken care of because that is the foundation of your productivity.
Now, getting organized is going to save you massive amounts of time and give you the structure to put things on autopilot. But there's another brutal truth that I need to show you next. And this one doesn't save you time only, it also saves you energy. So, have you ever been cooking a really important dinner with multiple dishes? And the dishes you don't want to mess up. Those go on the front burners. They're familiar. They're visible. You can watch those two front burners closely to make sure that they go well. And then the back burners, that's where you put the less important stuff usually, the readymade sauce, the the veggies that maybe you're just heating up. But those back burners never cook things right. You don't watch them as closely. And what gets pushed back there often burns or never finishes cooking actually at all. And the brutal truth is many ambitious women are doing the same thing with the foundation of their productivity. They put it on the back burner.
So the third brutal truth of why you never have enough time is because instead of prioritizing making your hustle sustainable, you've actually put it on the back burner and it's leaving you depleted. So unlike many productivity gurus, the system I teach inside systemize your goals accelerator helps women build a true foundation for productivity, taking them from depleted to flowing. And yes, we talk about discipline and consistency within my productivity system that I teach. But the two things I want to focus on today are going to help you create more time by prioritizing your joy and your self-care so you actually have the energy to manage your time well. So, let me show you how to put your joy and your self-care on autopilot and stop putting it on the back burner.
Starting with self-care, I want you to create a daily routine using what I call the energy trifecta. Let me draw this out for you. So, when it comes to self-care, I teach my clients what I call the energy trifecta. And it consists of three components, hence the trifecta. So let's do those one, two, three. Okay. Okay. So the first one here is going to be to prioritize sleep. Okay. And this is because sleep is so important, not only for our well-being, but of course for our productivity. And if we want to make the most of our time and you can prioritize sleep in a couple of ways. The first thing you can think about is using a reverse alarm clock. So, instead of setting a time to wake up, which of course you're going to do, but also setting an alarm of when you want to go to bed, especially if you're getting in the habit of developing your evening routine, setting a reverse alarm clock is going to be really helpful to remind you to start winding down and that it's time to go to bed. So, you might have one to wind down and you might have another one to say, "Okay, that's it. Take your butt to sleep." Okay? And a lot of this energy trifecta is informed by Dr. Dr. Amy Shaw has the book, I'm so effing tired. So, I just want to give credit where credit is due.
Second piece is from Dr. Amy Shaw specifically, and it's called a sunlight sandwich. And this is really using the power of sunlight to regulate your circadium rhythm so you get better sleep. to starting the day and ending the day with going out and getting sunlight, going outside, sitting by the window if you can't go outside and getting sunlight to reinforce your natural circadian rhythms. And then the third piece here, speaking of rhythms, is just to protect your rhythms. And so you want to go to bed at the same time each night if possible and wake up the same time each day. the more you can get into that, the higher quality of sleep you'll get because you'll be falling asleep much easier and you'll be able to go into a deeper sleep much quicker. So, that's the first piece is just prioritizing your sleep.
The second piece is nutrition when it comes to self-care, specifically nutrition for energy. And these are prescribed again by Dr. Amy Shaw, who I respect a lot and have used her tenants. So I just kind of have formulated them in a way to fit these systems and work for my clients. So the nutrition for energy that she prescribes is to do what's called power plate planning. And so what you're going to do just as a brief overview is for every meal you want to include protein, fiber, color. So you want to get a variety of vegetables and fruits. Get a color on your plate and fat. And if you can incorporate these things at every meal, that's going to help support you obviously be more healthy, but also have nutrition for energy.
And then the last piece of this energy trifecta is movement. So, we definitely want movement to be a part of your self-care. And before I touch base more on the movement piece, I should say in her book, Dr. Amy Shaw's book, I'm so effing tired. She has lots of recipe ideas that I love for meal ideas on how to do the power plate planning. Give you some ideas of recipes that you can use if you're just totally confused of where to get started. I'll link that for you below. Okay, so back to movement. Movement isn't about aesthetics. It's about turning your brain on. So when you move, your brain releases something called BDNF, and it's a growth factor that boosts memory and focus. So, here's how to make this type of movement doable in your busy life. Step one is to just shrink the goal. Don't aim for an hour workout every day if that's not possible for you. Instead, you can use movement snacks. These are 5 to 10 minute bursts between your focus blocks of working. So, walk after a meeting, stretch before your next call, dance to one song while you're cooking dinner. Okay, movement snacks. Step two is to match your movement to your energy. So if you're in your follicular phase, you can go heavier, your ludial or your period phase. You might have lighter options like yoga or walking. Both count and both keep your energy flowing. You're just matching your movement for the energy that you're in and the phase that you're in as a woman.
So, another piece of reclaiming your time is also prioritizing your joy. So, here's the joy system that I teach my clients. You're going to start with your behaviors. So, my maps method, which is mindfulness, appreciation, pleasure, and self-compassion. These are tiny daily choices that rewire your brain for calm, confidence instead of constant stress. Next are going to be your boundaries as a part of this joy system. So joy can't survive when you're overcommitted, overextended, or under rested. You're going to learn to protect your time with boundaries without guilt. So peace becomes your new productivity tool. And then finally for your joy system are your beliefs. So because no system, no schedule can outwork a mindset that says I have to earn my rest or I'm only valuable when I'm producing. You are going to work on your beliefs. I want you to do the conscious work to break those beliefs and reconnect with the ones that let success feel good again.
Now, as a bonus brutal truth, as a neurosychologist, I have to point out that you may never have enough time because you're neurospicy, aka neurode divergent. And because this so closely impacts one's productivity, I have an entire bonus module in my program called Neurospicy and Productive where I teach specific coping strategies to help my clients compensate for how neurode divergence may impact your time management and your productivity. I talk about things like time blindness, poor focus, and task switching. But for the purposes of this video, I do want to highlight some pretty common time wasters related to being neurospicy.
So the first one can apply to those that are neurospicy, but it can also apply to many other types of folks, neurotypical folks as well, and that is [music] doom scrolling. So many of us are guilty of it. And if you took the time to actually audit how much time you spend doing unwanted doom scrolling, you may be surprised, shocked, appalled, all of the things. In fact, in my program, another bonus that I give my students is the buy back your time blueprint. And I have my students do a quick and dirty time audit within that module. And it's been so eyeopening for so many of my clients to realize how much time they're actually spending on devices. So just being able to become aware of that is the first step in taking back your agency and coming up with a plan for a digital detox.
Another way you might be wasting time if you're neurode divergent is due to poor initiation commonly associated with dopamine imbalances similar to doom scrolling where you just have a poor initiation is where you just have a hard time getting started with tasks. So yes, once you get started, you may even hyperfocus, but sometimes that initiation can be complex if you have an imbalance of dopamine, which is the motivation and pleasure neurotransmitter. So a quick and easy way that you can start overcoming problems with poor initiation, is to just start small. Start small by telling yourself you're just going to do 5 or 10 minutes and then just doing the bare minimum to get started and then taking it from there if you can.
And then for this video, the third time waster that I want to point out that's related to neurode diversions and is pretty common is impulsivity. So just not taking a beat before jumping into something to really decide if it's the best use of your time. that type of impulsive just going with it for the current moment or even on the larger scale type of impulsivity like being impulsive with new projects, new tasks, new ideas instead of really taking that time to reflect and really decide is this the best use of my time right now can cause you to waste a lot of time. So a good place to get started if you are struggling with impulsivity that's hijacking your time is to just start the habit of pausing before you act. Start to ask yourself to pause before you make decisions or add anything to your plate and then track that habit so that you can see how you're doing with it so it stays top of mind of pausing before you act.
Now, if you are watching this video and made it this far, you're likely a high achieving woman that has big goals for 2026. And stopping wasting time is just a little piece of the puzzle when it comes to reaching those larger than life 2026 goals. I actually recently did a free challenge called the Elite 12-week year challenge to help high achieving women like yourself reach their goals faster and easier. You can watch that video here next if you're interested. I hope to see you over there. And then until next time, cheers to planning, manifesting, and enjoying your dream life. The God within me honors and worships the God within you. Namaste. [music]
