Starship flight 10 take three. Well, they do say third times a charm. So, let's see if that pans out for this situation as well. Um, yeah, should be quite nice.

Weather favorability. It says again 55%. We'll see. Yeah, I chose a uh I chose a time that is like uh 25 minutes in advance, assuming they haven't changed the time last I checked and I literally just woke up. So yeah, it crashed pretty hard. So yeah, we we we back, baby.

Um, in 10 minutes their live web pass. That's what they announced on the page 10 minutes ago. So, all right. Excellent. Speaking of weather, it's actually quite rainy down here at the moment. It's really it's really something, man.

Yeah, pretty nice. Brian, well, yeah, the the the moist the moist moist season is beginning again. Also, as I like to call the wet season, I like to call it the moist season. It's quite moist at the moment, but it's heading into the wetness part. So, if anybody's down there at Starbase um taking videos or anywhere near Starbase and is able to take really awesome footage of the launch or perhaps somebody is near the Indian Ocean, whichever happens to be, not sure that you'll be anywhere close to where the rocket will uh come down, but I'm pretty sure that with lenses things can be achieved even though it would be quite quite quite difficult to do because you'd have to really go the the not sorry go edge along the uh at uh aerospace because you know restrictions right so.

Yep yep and then we can use them in a in an edit if anyone has some good ones he good.

These would have to be uh nice stabilized shots um because if they're not it's going to look really weird and not something that one can uh include in the edit needs to be of high quality, you know. The booster at a higher angle of attack. That's probably another reason there's like added stress on it. They're going previous uh the malfunction. Cool looking plasma.

I'll try to go over the details for people who are not following. So, um the booster um is plan um they're planning to um they're not we're not uh they're not going to use the uh catch tower today or uh um to avoid any kind of damage because uh the launch today is mainly to test um the ship and the booster and their well act and their u failure mode um.

Profiles different flight profiles.

Yeah. collect data from it. So, the booster is is planned, it's going to splash down in um the Gulf of Mexico, the Gulf of America, sorry.

Of America.

Yeah.

And then the ship um is going to uh splash down in the Indian Ocean.

Landing.

Yeah. And they're doing a hover test before landing. So, that's going to be kind of interesting to watch. See if they can actually hover it.

Yeah. Booster goes into Gulf of America. Booster goes into Gulf of America. Uh ship goes into the Indian Ocean. Excellent. And for the booster, uh this is going to be the first time they're going to test the failure mode where only three uh sorry, so usually they have three um Raptor engine on for landing and this time it's going to be only two to test the case where one of the engine um malfunctions basically.

Taking the middle one out. Yeah.

Yeah. And for the ship, they're testing different tiles. So, heat shield tiles. Um, there is a passive.

Uh passive shielding. What are they made of, Adrian? Ceramic. And.

Yes.

The the the one the black ones. Yeah, they're made out of ceramic.

So.

A special type of ceramics like a.

Yeah. So those they're going to test the different geometry and also the edge and uh and they're going to collect data and compare it to the other um type of shielding which is going to be active heat shielding.

Um.

I think it's active cooling is that the metallic one is it?

Yes. What they have a metallic one too? Yeah.

And how do they cool it? Do they what do they use for that? Gas they use the propellant.

Gas. So oxygen, liquid oxygen and midane.

Right. Use it.

And then.

That makes sense.

If you actually zoom in on their ship, you're going to see a lot of missing tiles.

That's also done on purpose because they want to.

Uh collect data for the uncovered part of the ship. This is mainly like testing really bad case scenarios.

Mhm. Yeah. So, we're going to see uh we're going to see some spectacles likely. That's that's a thing. Um so.

That is all within spec, so to say. So, if there's like.

I wonder if the booster is going to start spinning out, it would make sense, but I guess that's not going to happen. So, we'll see.

Yep. And the last thing, the upper stage is going to deploy eight Starlink simulators. That's their payload in space and perform the inspace Raptor engine relight.

Yeah. So, this is the first time that um um they're going to have a payload on a Starship. Usually.

Um usually it was empty.

Deploying a payload.

Deploying. Yeah, exactly.

They've had payloads before. Yeah.

Deploying. Yeah. Deploying the payload.

They had a banana.

That was their payload. Um.

It used to they used it for like a gravity indicator like when it was floating.

They were Yeah. The the the other times they were testing the door, right?

And now they have.

The door jammed last time.

And this time around they're going to have uh these props, Starlink props. Basically, they have the same mass, weight, and all that. and just the hardware for them to be um deployed, but nothing valuable. I think it's um because the real uh Starling satellites are expensive to make and they can't risk it in a mission like this. They're between 750,000 and a million each. So, all eight of them are um just props, functional props. And again, they're going to collect the data. And if that works today, it's going to be a pretty big deal because it's going to confirm that Starship can be used to deploy like bigger bigger payloads of satellites because the existing um the Falcon can only release 60 no between 29 and 60 satellites at a time and Starship has the potential to release like 180 to 200 at a time.

Damn. I didn't know that.

So, basically, if that works, um the price uh the cost for uh uh deploying like satellites is going to be 10 time five to 10 time cheaper.

Really? So, they would just only use Starship, you think, deploy them after that or Yeah. Okay.

Whatever you do out there is like hunting effectively. it it processes that as hunting. It's like, oh, it goes out to grind, so to speak, but like it's hunting, right? And there's no guarantee of returning. That's how it processes the event. And you come back and like it just sees you as a really weird hunter that brings back weird types of sustenance that it then transforms into stuff that the cat can eat. Like that's its that's its weird like perception of you. It's like, wow, this is a really weird cat, but it's feeding me, so we're good, right? It's like.

Imagine how weird it must be for the cat. You go out like for 8 hours, come back and just got a bunch of stuff on you the whole time and like so it's really excited obviously and then you know you you make it food. So it's like h.

I live in a I live in a wilderness, so rules are a little different. just a little bit. We handle things a little bit differently here. Like if there are relations at all, like you hardly go over to your neighbor's house and then if you do, it's like probably cuz like there's some sort of there's some sort of landesque thing going on. Like you have some land related stuff or some people related stuff. Like for instance, you're trying to figure out if somebody tried to steal something or like you're going there because you're you you're like employed by them or you have one of theirs employed. It's usually a thing like that or you want to like strike some sort of deal with them, you know, like cuz because there's like lots of villages here, right? And if you wanted to like operate on their like land, then you have to like kind of strike a deal with them. And so going there and talking to them directly is like what you do. And so it's like, yeah, you hardly ever interact with those people. And then what do you do? It's like sometimes a year or so. And like there's the time gap of about a year or two. You check in occasionally and you do things. Yeah. I usually bring them like food. That's the first thing I do is like bring them food and like their local drink. They really appreciate that. And then we have like a discussion, a respectful discussion. I you you can't be like a podcaster bro and go to TSMC and go like hey I want $7 trillion worth of like you know chips right that's not going to fly you know you got to be like realistic in your expectations making a troll on sama here cuz that's actually what he [ __ ] did like Samma went to like TSMC and said hey I would like this much like he just wants to say hey $7 trillion in like [ __ ] chips it's like what are you talking about like what what did I mean look I know your upper limit is like supposedly compute but like this your your architecture is ass. No, I I I I I don't even want to begin to break down why that just doesn't make any sense. Like I just so many vectors and clearly you don't know what the [ __ ] you're talking about cuz you don't work in hardware. It's like not not only like where are you going to put them uh but not not only where the [ __ ] are you going to get the money from? Um because your your product doesn't even generate anywhere close to that amount of money and you you assume that AGI is going to be real. So it's like okay so I guess you think all the money is going to be worthless which clearly is the vibe that you're approaching this with. So what the [ __ ] Huh? I I don't understand. So so so your bargaining chip is no bargaining chip. Then when you do go there let's assume that that's just not a thing that deprecates. Okay. Let's just assume that in a world which is you know where the cat is is a cube or or a sphere. We're going to like assume that that's like that your your your bargaining chip your bargaining chip that's unrealistic is real. Okay, let's assume that. And then we go over there and we go, okay, uh where are you going to put all those chips? First of all, it's a lot of chips, right? Um and then on top of that, where are you going to get the energy? On top of that, where are you going to get the workforce to even do that? And on top of that, how are you going to do that within the next like four years? Because because you're not gonna, first of all, it's just not going to happen. And and who's going to like who's going to make them? TSMC has the ability to make them, but they're probably going to take 4 to 5 years to make them. It's going to take you approximately 4 to 5 years to install all of them. It's probably going to also take you uh if you want to like do that at the same time a whole bunch of years to try and get the power, which by the way, most of the infrastructure is not suited for. You're going to need to basically create your new uh new nuclear power plants. At which point you have to like kind of understand to yourself like understand for yourself again like imagine if you're in the US and you want to build up massive amounts of of of this then you will need more power that doesn't exist and you probably want a nuclear power plant at some point because it's the best thing.

Yeah. Uh, and and if you don't have that, which you're not going to, then you're kind of [ __ ] Which is also why the US needs to get back into nuclear power, fision, and fusion, and needs to strike a deal with the [ __ ] Chinese instead of pissing them off more so that they can give you the goddamn fast reactors cuz you got a lot of waste in your ground. You may want to make use of that waste. And you can. A fast reactor allows you to take the nuclear waste and make use of it. Again, that's a thing, by the way. Like if if people like there's an interesting thing that like always confuses me and that is that a history is not is is not um is not clarified. History is not clarified. It's not that history needs to be modified. It needs to be clarified because the problem is we used to believe that nuclear waste is an actual problem.

It's not right. It used to be a problem. Yes, it definitely was. That's why we have like so we have salt mines full of tons of this stuff that is radiating away over the next like you know millions of years. Right. That is a problem. Right. The thing is today we have a solution for this. Today we can take that same waste and use it again via fast reactor. So So now we don't have a problem actually. So now literally like all of that stuff it took us insane amounts to like mine this right. And so now we're just like remmining it effectively except with no effort other than just logistical how the [ __ ] do I take radiation stuff and put it in somewhere where radiation stuff doesn't like radiate to other places and then take that radiation stuff and put it inside the reactor again. So it's like that that's that's your only effort there which ironically enough is going to cost you less than mining it I think. I mean it depends depends you know but still pretty good. Isn't that awesome? I I think that's awesome. I think that's really [ __ ] awesome. Like this is a really cool time. Like damn. But still, you know, you probably want to get get to doing that. If you want to have like, you know, the world's biggest brain and tons of chips, you probably want a better power source and like fuel and all that is not going to be it. I'm sorry. It's not like I I know that these things are great and they are really good at propelling forward last like but you know it's not going to be the play. Just saying.

Yeah. Basically, what they're going to be doing is well, you missed that part. Um, what they're going to be doing is they're going to splash down both of them. Um, as for the booster, they're going to bring that down the Gulf of America. Um, they're going to bring it down with two thrusters instead of three. Uh, just to kind of test whether or not this could work in a failure scenario, right? And with the Starship, which is going to be landing in the Indian Ocean, they're going to try a little bit of a hover thing just to see if that works and then let that splash down and then I guess retrieve it at some point.

No. So, they're trying to figure out how to [ __ ] up the most gracefully. Correct.

Normally this is what you see when uh an engine is properly optimized like just one. It happens for each and every single one of them. But because of the way that they basically are able to have these engines work together in sync, you can actually see this happen for all of them at the same time where it's like you don't see any one of the engines have like the mock diamond individually as much, but like it's heavily pronounced for all of them together. What is that? I don't know. That looks cool though. Whatever that is. Were you talking about hit it hitting the high or higher levels of the atmosphere?

Looks interesting. We're having [Music] splash down in the Gulf. As we mentioned earlier, the hot stage will be jettisoned for this flight and that should occur just after the boost back burn. Uh, so we're about to shut down the first stage and perform hot staging. So let's just watch and listen.

We have seen all ship. I wonder if they're still doing like high angle of attack cuz last time they did that with the booster. You heard them report ship chamber pressure is nominal. So that chamber pressure just that expected thrust level in those Raptor engines on the ship. Three vacuum optimized three C level. Nice.

There's a view into the business end from the ship. Is that the relight? They're doing. Oh, no. That was something else. At this point, we finished our boost back burn. So, that was shut down. So, that's the the first of the two burns after a launch that the booster is going to do today. So, now it's headed towards the Gulf. It's not going to be quite as an aggressive of a flight down. We relax that angle of attack a little bit, but we are then going to be looking for it to do its engine tests for the landing burn. And those are going to be a little unique this time.

Yeah. Typically, we start with all 13 center inner engines lit for that landing burn and bring that down to just the center three. Uh, but one of our test objectives for today is to simulate what an engine out situation would look like. So, we're going to be intentionally turning off one of those center three and instead lighting one of the engines from the middle 10 ring.

Yeah, we did see one of those engines in the middle ring shut down during the initial asset. Oh, looks like we have hot stage jettison. You can see it floating away there. Oh, they were doing the booster. Interesting.

They did that for. See one of those middle engines shut down during the ascent. Again, we are resilient to engine out on Super Heavy. That's why we're able to get through our ascent. Starship flying on the expected path. There's still a chance that engine could be back in the mix for the very start of the landing burn. So, we'll see if we light up all 13. But we've I mean we've even done a landing burn at the tower with an engine out. So very resilient. We'll see how it does on its way down to the Gulf though.

Right. So we got a couple of minutes. That landing burn start should be uh just about 40 seconds away. That's always rad to see the The boost is dropping. Boost cloom itself in the background as it was coming in.

Oh no, you do not want to have that. 9 minutes north, right? That chip engine cutoff is slated for 8 minutes and 57 seconds. We are going to see those three ARVAC, the Raptor vacuum engines. Those are the bigger circles in that little indicator on the bottom right of your screen. Those will shut down first and we continue burning for a couple seconds longer on those inner three. That's beautiful. Before we hit SECO.

Second engine cut off. That was beautiful, man. That was beautiful. Perfection. I hope that somebody caught that on camera. I really hope that somebody caught that on camera like the. Thanks to Starlink for getting us these views. It's just incredible. And we just heard the sound from booster. It's like we just we just got a a late boom from the booster.

Hell, it's Chase. Bro. Yeah, we have ship engine cutoff coming up here just shortly. And as we mentioned, today's flight test is not an orbital flight, but rather one that demonstrates Starship's orbital capability. Starship in terminal guidance. Hasn't made it all the way to space. It's only 140 km of this burn.

So, it can still boom. Under 30 seconds to go. It happens. It's just a funny sounding boom at that altitude as it travels a little bit different through the air than it does when you're about 100 kilometers closer. Yeah. All right, shut down the vacuum engines. Ship engine cut off. We shut down the center three. Successful ship engine cut off. Seco, baby. Here we go. That's what we want.

Nominal orbit insertion. Yeah. Yeah. All right. We just heard the call out for nominal orbital insertion. Nice. I like when the camera's like. It's one of my favorite words. Nominal orbital insertion.

All right. So, ship is sentences. It's just so good. I don't know why. There we go. We're seeing the flash to move to a stowed position. That's why it looks like your camera's moving. Yeah, exciting to see Starship safely in space and super pumped to see all the team's hard work in action here today. And of course, as guaranteed, it's been an exciting day so far. We successfully lifted off right on time at 6:30 p.m. Central time. Uh, thankfully, our weather was looking good today. Um, yeah, and and booster we had our soft splash down in in the Gulf. So ship continues on.

Yeah. Ship able to complete its asscent burn all the way in. You can see some of the shadows start to creep as it's going to be eventually flying into an orbital nighttime. So we'll see some daylight start to go away. Uh, but ship is burn. I mean, that's just the beginning. Now, we've got a whole bunch more to go. So, we've got some exciting demonstrations planned while we're on orbit. That right there, we just saved the FTS, the flight termination system. That's that automatic flight safety system we have on the vehicle. So, that is now turned off while ship starts its coast period. We are coming up. Our next milestone is going to be the deployment of those Starlink simulators. We've got some payload inside of Starship that we're hoping to deploy into space for the very first time. That deploy is supposed to start at about 18 minutes.

This will be your Starlink satellite simulation. Just about 7 minutes from now. Uh, that deploy will take place over a couple of minutes. It'll it'll go about one satellite a minute. Um, so we'll be spread out over that. It might get a little dark, but a couple of views that we can show you to see that deploy in action. After that, we're also looking to do a relight of a single Raptor engine while we are in space. We've done this before.

They reinforced it. This is not necessary to do as we are in a suborbital trajectory. But this is essentially a chance to test out what we need to be able to do. I think what's coming off the ship is doing that a little bit later in the flight. Probably not looking to get that light show and more importantly get that really critical data. I mean, if you look at the night in 5 minutes we'll be having again running those experiments with the tiles. We're going to be doing missing tiles, metallic tiles and also intentionally loading those vehicles flaps. Um, hopefully we'll also see a splash down in the Indian Ocean today.

Yeah, we were able to get to a re-entry last time, but we didn't have full attitude control, so we weren't able to go in control that attitude. Were designed to end up losing contact with the ship before we could make it all the way. The attitude was you spin me right around really fast. You're not really getting the data that we want to make sure we're kind of stress testing the vehicle. As Amanda just said, we removed a bunch of tiles and we do this in some intentionally scary places on the vehicle because we're really looking are there spots that were vulnerable to this.

Yeah. So that just looks like ice. If you look at the outside of that looks like ice to then do re-entries a little bit later on. So really really critical to get that data. Really looking forward to a controlled re-entry.

Yeah, for sure. As we always say, our main payload is data. Uh, but today we also have some actual payload on board and those simulators that Starship will be deploying. Um, we'll see coming up here in just a few minutes. These are dummy satellites that are about the same size as our V3 Starlinks. Uh, we have eight in the Starship PEZ dispenser and expect to deploy at a rate of about one per minute. As Dan mentioned earlier, uh, Starlink is critical in all of our flights on Starship to get our main payload data, as we always say. And in fact, it's Starlink that's currently providing these views you see as Starship cruises a couple hundred kilometers above our home planet and provides real-time telemetry through every phase of flight.

Yeah, we took a peek inside of the Starship payload bay there for a second. So, there's eight of them. They're they kind of look just big steel plates essentially. They're roughly the same size as those V3 satellites. Um, when we do get that view inside of the payload bay, the the payload door will kind of be on your right. Um, and we'll start to see them go out like a PEZ dispenser. Um, yeah, here's a look inside. So, those are down there in the center. They're kind of two steps on either side.

Those are full of PEZ. Is that what he's saying? To their right. Yeah, basically the PEZ is a is a fake Sterling sat. So I want you to like Yeah, it's it's basically a giant PES satellite. It's candy. Yeah. Instead of candy this time, it's a satellite, but it's not even a satellite. It's a thing that looks like that's look that looks is shaped like a satellite. The pressure instead. It's made of candy, right?

Basically too high for the actuator of the door to open. That's why we weren't able to get the door open that time. Um, we have not seen anything like that on this flight. Everything's looking good with our fuel tank uh and our fuel press system. So, we are hopefully just a couple of minutes away from seeing that payload door open and getting to our first ever payload. It's not the first payload we've ever carried, but it's the first one we're going to try and shoot off into space.

That looks cool. I don't know what's happening in there, but it's kind of like it's charging up for an attack. All right, so. Oh, yeah. By the way, that that stuff that you see there, that's like moisture and air, like all that stuff. You actually could you will likely see density a little bit of residual gas and. We opened the door once I want to say it was back on flight three uh when we were able to make it up into space. You'll kind of see that gas into the vacuum of space over um after we've already vented it down.

So kind of a cool light show. Um, and then we'll get ready to deploy those payloads out. There's actually a time where there was a bit of gas that was still left inside of the like there was when the um that when that door opened up and you could see the density for like change. So it was this really cool lensing effect that you saw, you know, where like the the light was warped. That was so [ __ ] epic.

And as we mentioned, so we have crossed over now at this point into an orbital nighttime. So views from the outside will get pretty dark. Um, but we'll see what we can see. We do this we do this by design. We've been launching these uh later in the day here in Texas to try and get daytime views when we splash down. So, it's daytime over in the Indian Ocean where we are currently headed. Neat.

Just a few seconds until we expect those payload doors to. Just got to semi circumn the Earth real quick. BRB.

There's a view kind of behind the PEZ. You're looking out into the vacuum of space. About 15 seconds until payload deploy. Chip has transition to payload deploy. How can you tell?

Math. I think it just jettisoned its thingies. No. Nope. It It did not blow its load. Yeah, it was just buffering things. It didn't blow its load. What the deep cut? Deep cut. What else is the spaceship going to do? It's clearly going to blow its load.

Yeah. Well, not blow a little. Oh, yeah. It's It's releasing it. It's releasing it. Yep. Yep. One one is coming out. One's coming out. One's coming out. Uh, it seems kind of stuck. Is it being pushed out all the way? Wait too long to do that. There we go.

And this is this is just kind of a dress rehearsal for when we're going to do be deploying the V3 satellites. And these are just a a massive massive increase to Starlink's capability. Each one of them has it's 60 terabits per second of capacity that's going to get added to the network per launch. That's 20 times more than what we're adding with every single Falcon 9 launch today, which you know, step increase in capability. There goes another one. This is the most applause I've ever heard for literally.

It's scientific literal, but it is still literally. All right. So, as we said, we've got eight total that we're going to go through today. It's about a minute for each one, but good on deploy. Yeah. So, eventually you're probably going to see that the entire like length of the shaft here is going to be filled full of like these Starlink satellites and they're going to be able to deploy way more than like 24 each. That's beautiful. Take a while to deploy them all. Excuse me.

All right. So, we're about halfway through when we actually start launching the V3 Starlinks on on Starship. We're going to be flying about 60 each time. So, it'll be about. Damn, 60 each time. It's just going to be increase. 60 60s per launch. That is up like what are they doing? They're doing current like 24. [Applause] And for us. That's like two and a half that's like that's like roughly about two and a half launches. Yeah, absolutely. Always getting us that data.

Actually, a little bit more than half, but yeah, that's like two and a half like rocket launches. Amazing views we have on the vehicle today. But like as one rocket. Yeah, views brought like. We discussed yesterday. It's like deploying Starlink simulator. This is pretty good. 60 60 man. 60. That's crazy. How deep does it go? All right, another one firing out. Let's do some research while I was watching the stream. That is looking smooth today.

Yeah. It's going well. It's nice one. H wonder if they have somebody controlling it or if the whole thing is just automated. I would assume automated because. Yeah, I would assume automated, but maybe since it's like a test. They deployed them a little low to avoid them becoming like space debris. Yeah, you got one remaining. So, seven of the eight have been deployed, one more to go.

Does that mean they will fall ever? So, it's temporary trajectory, they're going to. But if they are deploying a little higher. Obviously. The last one has been deployed. Basically got to make sure that these things which is effectively space junk actually burns up so that it doesn't end up being junk in space which is what can cause. I'm not sure how many people are familiar with the Kesler syndrome. Does anybody know what that is?

Nope. It's like this uh this chain reaction of [ __ ] up events where what happens is you'll have so much like space junk that you can't actually go anywhere and then eventually like what ends up happening is that if one like part of that space junk collides with a bunch of other stuff in space then that whole thing will then create a whole bunch of more space junk to the point where there will be so much junk in space then literally all the space infrastructure will be pelted by the junk that just keeps getting created as this stuff. It's like a whole chain reaction. Just imagine like just imagine nuclear fision but with infrastructure in space and like that the infrastructure is being pulled apart into like very small little chunks and then that is just like you know kind of orbiting all around the earth destroying [ __ ] everything. So yeah, we just want to avoid that as much as possible.

Eventually form a ring. Uh, like Saturn and all them other things due to the centrifugal force, the rotation of the gravitational pole. Like that seems like a basic calculation that would prevent that from happening. If at all if at all it would happen if at all it would happen in an unacceptably large time frame.

We get about 120 megabits per second that's split between our high definition video and realtime telemetry. We get that every phase of flight including re-entry. So it's not just giving us views of re-entry, but we're getting all of that engineering data in real time through phases that it used to be impossible to get that in real time. So just really incredible.

Yeah, Starlink affords us all this capability. And reminder, it's the world's largest satellite constellations. What he just said wasn't accurate, but okay. Low latency broadband. This provides internet access. Because it's not a matter of whether or not you can get it. It's a matter of data pipeline. Connectivity before. It was possible to get that but they were prioritizing other data. Territories and other markets with over 6 million active customers and counting to meet the growing global demand for highspeeded internet SpaceX expanded its fact. So why the [ __ ] didn't you say that?

And also introduce. Probably because it's very technical and not actually information that most people would parse the way people who have dealt with network code would. Say we couldn't get it before. Towards the Indian Ocean. Sorry, I'm. Technically we couldn't get it because we had more important information again.

So the video is a luxury like followed by atmospheric entry hell of a light show. So basically what you're saying is we now have more pipelines open and before we couldn't get it because we only had a single pipeline and that single pipeline is not reserved for the luxury of viewing what the [ __ ] is going on but actually being able to know what is going on via data. Yes.

Pretty much. Yes. The [ __ ] Why couldn't they just say that? This sounds really [ __ ] easy. I don't notice that. Well, it took him like 1 second to say his thing and it took like 30 seconds for us to get through our spiel. So, it makes sense.

I mean, they are comment they are literally just sports commentators, but for the for the starship, right? Like, all of those people actually have a history being like sports commentators. So we just like kind of go tangentially off the thing. So like while music is happening for instance, we're just like having this discussion like a very meta commentary. Adrian and VR meta commentary as like the the starship is floating around up there and you get to view the inside of like the empty starship right now after deployment. I like the fact that it put a light bulb there and like a bunch of other lights so you can actually see what's going on.

It's basically violently intersecting the air. It stabs you real hard.

Yeah. At probably like I don't know the 26,000 kilometers per hour. Is that six or an eight? 6,500. That's the current speed here. Of what? So, it's basically Sonic booming its way through every air multiple times over. They're expecting the relight. So, they're doing that relight.

Look at that. You can start seeing the plasma. Of a single raptor that should be coming up just a little under. And you're going to see the relight happening soon. The repositioning is definitely adding. Levels in the middle there. Not a de-orbit burn. It's a demonstration of what we'll have to do for de-orbit burns.

You can fit a Tesla Semi in there and it'll still have a lot of space. The Tesla Semi is what, six, seven meters in length. So, two more meters around it. 630 6 m 30 cm. So, two and a half more meters around it. That's a massive payload.

Yeah. They did say somewhere it's it can be 180 uh satellites fit in there. What was the number the last set? 60. On Starship. Really? Yeah. It was two and a half times what they were currently doing, which was 24, which is 60. Yeah. Yeah. But these satellites are massive. That's why it's like each. Yeah. Yeah. So that's why that's why I was saying Tesla semi in terms of like not like vertically, but like horizontally. It'll just sit there on the like the same way the satellites were flat. Tesla semi will sit there and will still have space in front and behind it.

That's impressive. Looks like we got re-entry activity with the flaps. Yeah, flipless. Cool. The PL. By the way. Yeah, that the the hardware looks so clean on this one. Yes. Yeah. Look at the um what I what I found was really interesting is look at the reinforcement. Do you see that right there where the flap is attached? There's something there. Exactly where it burned. Yep. Where it burned last time. Yeah. Yeah. It wasn't that wasn't there before. Like even you look at the reinforcement, it kind of branches out like a radially. Also, they seem to be holding quite well. Like look at the plasma right there. Dude, that is [ __ ] good.

Awesome. That's what I mean. Like compared to the previously ones, this feels like a generation up. You know, it's the same one. Second generation like this was remarkable. Oh, tiles falling apart. It might have been. It's the same. That's the same thing that happened like with uh started re-entry. It might have been planned cuz they had a few that were loose. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. They're trying like a few places as well. We're about to start barreling through the Earth's atmosphere and head for a splash. that uh flap here looks. Plan to recover the spacecraft today. But if we do make it all the way down to the water, who knows? But the goal of this part of the flight is to learn as much as we can about the ship's heat shield. A fully reusable, rapidly reusable heat shield for spacecraft has never been done before. It's one of kind of the hardest engineering challenges still out there for us. And so this is a time to really dig in and get that data.

Yeah, absolutely. And re-entry is a critical phase of flight. So we'll need information on how the ship's system end up performing. And Starlink will also help us gather as much data as possible, which is. By the way, Andrew, did you did you catch the hover? Starink provides us with. No, I did not. I'll look up the SpaceX video that I saw. What about it? Well, it was basically, wasn't it, wasn't it just like um that they were doing this with two engines instead instead of three, wasn't it? Yeah, two engines. So, two engines says instead of three. And they just it was just hovering there like the the booster cuz like they splashed it down in the Gulf. And so, they just let it hover there for like a good 3 4 seconds and then let it splash. It was real [ __ ] cool looking. It was so awesome.

I clipped it. I'm looking at it right now. Yeah, usually they do two cuz three. Oh, look at that. All that all the uh debris there. Woo. That's a That's a That's a blow. Something just blew up. Hold up. But what was there? Attitude. What's the attitude look like? Still looks It's getting out of control now. I It looks fine for now. The ship as we go through this. So, it is not down to the Indian Ocean. We've removed a bunch of tiles and kind of critical places across the vehicle. So, seeing stuff like that is still valuable to us. We are trying to kind of push this vehicle to the limits to learn what its limits are as we design our next version of Starship. So, 47 minutes 45 seconds into the.

Flight. Excitement ticking up a little bit on re-entry already. Uh, but the light show is continuing. Um, this re-entry uh is going to take about 20 minutes or so uh until our planned splashdown. We were trying to splash down about 1 hour and 6 minutes into the flight.

It's almost like they're aiming for a 69 minute video. Obviously no runways to help us out. So we are doing propulsive landing instead of more traditional.

Am I wrong? And propulsive landing enables us to have more rapid reusability with these vehicles.

I don't know. We're going to splash down at 1 hour and 6 minutes. About three three minutes of wrap-up commentary, I'm guessing. And they're down in that. That's cool.

All right. So, at this point, the flaps have control. That means we're getting into a dense enough part of the atmosphere that the flaps can start controlling us. We're not only relying on those kind of reaction control system thrusters.

We're going to continue hearing some call outs as the ship makes its way back to Earth. So, when we hear entry max heating and entry max Q, that will mean the ship has made it through the maximum heating and aerodynamic loads it will experience as it returns. So, if it makes it through those, uh, you can say we're doing pretty well.

I will say I'm happy re-entry cleaned off this camera for us. It was a little dirty from the weather, so view as we start coming down. cracking.

Yeah, this is beautiful. Um, it looks like the skirt's lining pop. I get two different pieces of metal, but there's nothing. Yeah, nothing there.

We were intentionally removing them only at the skirt is that, you know, that explains it. Yeah. So, they were they left off they left left off a few tiles at the skirt. That's why it ruptured like together that obviously exposes your engines. different.

It looks like the layer of the metal popped based on the pictures before and after minutes since launch.

See what is that start to build up a little bit. We are at the point where it's evaporating enough atmosphere that the flaps have control like the cooling about 74 km.

Oh, dude. Look at the heat. Look at that heat, man. So, we intentionally protect from daylight. Sun should actually come up over the horizon starship in about 3 minutes.

It's kind of interesting. So, like if when the when the starship comes down and they have the metal, right? Like, how does one how does one assure that the metal is actually still, you know, usable, properly usable because the stresses will change a little bit because you're heating it and then letting it cool off again. And that flap is getting torched. Look at that.

Yeah, it's Oh, look at that. It's melting, dude. Look at that. Did you see? Look at that. Looking directly at the flaps. Not just I mean this is this is not like what's supposed to happen, but like it still looks pretty damn interesting.

Yeah, but it's better than that other time the flap noted and it still survives through. Oh yeah, that was impressive. Yeah. We're We're trying to We're kind of being I mean, it's still it's still it's still attached, right? It's still attached.

Right there. Yeah. You got to be a little over. It looks like there's an inner inner part of the skirt that ripped. We're really trying to see what are our limits.

That's probably the one. It's still hanging around. It's just a little floppy. It's fine. Yeah, it's still good. It's still good. That's probably the part that's uncovered. Funny that I was yesterday talking about floppiness that one can't control. Synchronicities are hitting again. to give it a couple more flops, guys.

Yeah, the real flops were prego. The plate was going too perfect. Everything had done. So, they needed some kind of like things to mess up a bit to know where to fix next. Yeah, really exciting.

We're about 10 minutes until we're probably going to start hearing some of the other big milestones coming up. Yep. In about 10 minutes, like Dan said, Starship will be transic. Uh this is going to be the period of flight where the velocities of air flow and past the vehicle are concurrently below at and above the speed of sound. So several Does that mean the spaceship is going to turn into Sonic the Hedgehog?

I mean, it's kind of doing that right now, not going to lie. Look at the the Earth. Look at the Earth. So, that's 480. I don't think that's the Earth. That is just the plasma. 930. You can see the movement, the clouds or whatever. Oh [ __ ] that is the Earth. Yeah, it's [ __ ] cool. Morning. What am I saying? It's day in Australia. True. Down. There we go. There's that sunlight.

Damn, bro. That is a picture right there, man. One of the other things we're doing during this and you're going to see Starship kind of pitch in some pretty not extreme ways um but a little ext [Laughter] [Applause] just just in this structure hold up we are I mean we are pushing it beyond essentially what we think we'll have to fly at to do something like a return.

Oh, dude, look at the reflection of the flap there. It looks so epic. May not be a very smooth ride down. I am amazed by the camera. There's literally no damage to the camera and it feels like it's right on the edge of the flat cuz it moves down below. A look at those clouds, man. That is that is a [ __ ] that is a money shot.

Transonic and then subsonic. Once we hit sub sonic, we're basically just belly flopping. It's actually amazing to see how long it's holding out. I'll hold my tongue on that one. I know. I know what you're thinking. I know what you're thinking. I'm thinking it, too. Okay. Don't know. That is a money shot right there. Mhm. [Laughter] Oh boy. Chaos agents at work, eh? Pretty much. Damn, look at that. Some be beautiful weather down there. I should know. Could he close by it? All right, so about 55 and a half minutes in. You can see the sun is up. Again, we intentionally designed these flights to lift off in the evening here so we get these daylight views so we can get as good a video as possible on the ship, assuming we make it all the way down. Got at least one buoy powered by Starlink that's out there in the landing zone in the Indian Ocean. Hopefully giving us a view. Again, if you see any live views uh not from the ship itself, that means we nailed our landing target. ship is past peak heating.

All right, we just heard the call out that we're past peak heating. So things are looking good so far. Looking good. It kind of looks like it's still heading right again. The flaps are controlled. So this movement you're seeing is that forward flap uh moving to try and just maintain maintain control, maintain attitude of the of the vehicle as we're coming down. checking in on one of our flaps. All four of the flaps. Two in the front, two in the back.

Dude, look at how it's glowing there, man. Crazy. as we're we're amazing. Obviously don't have a camera that can see the entire heat shield. Uh that's these give us kind of the best that we can do. Um but looking at those flaps is really those are just you know super critical for controlling the ship.

Dude, if they actually make it all the way down properly then cuz the attitude controls looking pretty good right now. So as you're as you're coming in you can see you can see in that indicia, right? Not after. It's the Indian Ocean, right? That depends on which rotation you're coming from. That corner looks like we got a little bit of burn. What is me? The very bottom part of it. Everything's still looking good. Maintaining control.

Wait, I'm just sending you one of the dumbest jokes I've ever written. I know. I know. That's what I was like. I was like, what? What the What did they mean by this? [Laughter] Dude, look at the flap, man. Look at how that's how that's actually just like molten. Like, wow. That looks I mean, it looks cool. Let's just say that. It does look It does look pretty cool. I think it's coming off. Chunks of it are coming off. Yeah, but I think it was coming off. But man, does it look cool? A little bit toasty on the skirt. So transitioning between this is like the first time we're seeing the plasma like this with the daytime clouds behind it. Beautiful. Such a beautiful shot. Look at that. Lot of forward momentum, a lot of forward velocity. And then eventually by the time we hit subsonic, right, here we go. So this is what we've been talking about where we are.

That is so much deceleration. Try to fully deploy those a flaps and really stress them out. So again, this is meant to test the extremes for the vehicle. Oh yeah, they're they're testing something. Oh, well that was a cool camera transition. That's Yeah, that's toasted right there. Look, burnt burnt, dude. Swim. All right, they're just wiggling it. They're literally wiggling the ship. Swinging out again. We are through the ringer on this flight. Put it through the wiggle maneuver. Two tiles down. Wiggle. Wiggling intensifies. Yes, wiggling intensifies. It's like we're still maintaining control. Man, this flap is perfect. It is. It is. Look at that. It's pristine almost, man. When you get your [ __ ] Yeah. Heat treated AK. Flaps earning their paycheck today. Definitely things looking good so far. We're about 2 minutes out now from Starship becoming transic. One thing to note as we get some of those views length of the ship. One of the changes to flight six was to No, it's not. uh changed the timing a little bit. So we had kind of scaled back the number of tiles significantly is when we go to catch these ships, you don't want to I think as Zeon said, you don't want to shuck the the ship as you catch it and knock all those tiles off. So we knew we were going to have to kind of peel back that layer a little bit. And the first time we did it was on flight six and we saw kind of wrinkling and dimples almost in the ship as we were creating these hot spots in the uneven parts of the heat shield. And so we tried that on flight six and uh kind of addressed that. We smoothed it out. That's why you've got that nice smooth out black line. Now remember looking at it, we can see kind of a little bit of hot spot, a little bit of warping almost near the payload. You can see a little bit of colored patina up above it, but we don't see those kind of deep uh almost, you know, they almost look like gouges on that. So, it looks like that's that's been pretty successful. So, all right, we are less than a minute away from from hitting transic again. Pretty soon our our kind of our forward velocity is going to look like it's kind of falling off a cliff and Starship will look like it's falling off a cliff as we our belly flop. If you watch He's not wrong. Yeah, it's it's going to be very cartod. No, this is current. Can this thing actually fly? All the shots are current. We were able to prove that out with that suborbital campaign. Yeah, correct. That's what we're about to see shortly here. You know, like Q3 and Q4 is all about the Q4 part being the most mimetic. And if you can't make that happen, it's been kind of like a boring year of prep, which means if you have a boring year, the next year after that would have to be insane, right? So like 2026, for instance, is going to be full on mimemetic warfare. Like that's all all I'm going to say. Like 2026 is going to be [ __ ] insane. Like this year was just was not even like was it was not as ridiculous as 2024. Not even close. It almost felt like 2023 in a sense, right? But even less than that. It felt like the most normal year that we've had in a very long period of time but more so like a calm before the storm because a lot of promises were made and almost none of them are kept. Now bit of normaly has returned in some ways you know there's not as much political pressure while there is more political pressure in other regions. It's kind of like weird what has happened. It's like we're entering this age of like, you know, where the truth of stuff comes out at the same time. And now we're actually starting to see how ugly things really look like for the first time and where the previous like the the previous positionings just kind of shift around and now everybody if you were to take somebody from like today's positioning and put them into the past, then that was like to be seen as a lib even though like supposedly they were right and like all that shit's going to happen. So you're going to see refactoring of all positions to the point where there will be so much confusion that nobody cares about anything other than the economy which is the only thing you should be caring about, right? Cuz everything else is fake. Politics is not real. It's fake religion which is heathen like heathenistic in a sense. Like I don't like that. I hate politics. It's just a fake religion. This is disgusting. But like that that's that's a thing. So since this entire year was all about like confronting the reality of the situation in a sense 2026 is going to be a continuation of that but it's going to be more insane because we're going to start to see aspects of that reality which needs which needs to be confronted which are very ugly. And so we're going to see what that looks like. Um but yeah so like at the moment nothing much is happening. It's kind of like a we're kind of stagnant. We're in a stagnant period. So things need to be wilder towards the end of the year that then eventually slips into, you know, the crazy period which is then 2026 and then after that maybe a stable period again. Uh I I don't think there will ever be a year as crazy as 2024. Like that was that was peak crazy I think. Like it was just insane. Even like the crossover from 24 to 25 was just insane. Like straight up that was just wild. Yeah. Really? Everything after that was kind of boring, not gonna lie. I found the the terror shenanigans kind of fun. Yeah. Yeah. But that was like nothing, man. That was just undone in like three days. It was a kuruffle. Like then you had the then you had the Iran thing where everybody was like, you know, going against each other there. And I was just okay now I guess we have to learn about Middle Eastern history and everybody's got to like talk about that. So like we we're premining like what's India and Pakistan were like uh I mean they do that a lot but it was a little bit more than usual this year. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Then Trump had to step in and then everybody like started to dislike Trump because they just like where the articles were all about sympathy. He's like oh you got to be careful otherwise mutually like mutually destroy one another. And then everybody in the west was like no [ __ ] it. we don't care about these guys. They're like, "Bro, what the fuck?" The same thing with the meteorite. Remember when they wanted to like try all those uh like they wanted to premine all of those scenarios? Like each and every single one of them and just everybody just not cared about it. That's where they stopped doing it. Have you noticed that like all that [ __ ] just fell off the cliff and they didn't attempt anything like that again afterwards because if you did they were just like you would show how little everybody actually cares about this [ __ ] So stay at that. When they found out that the asteroid might hit China, they stopped caring about it. Yes. Yeah. Cuz like they saw the the probability the the the cone of uncertainty as as to where it was going to land and it was it was densest around the India part. They were like, "Oh no, we're actually fine with the asteroid now." I'm like, "Bruh, that was crazy. That was an that was a wicked premine." Yeah. And it was always these regions. So I guess it felt like a test. If anything, it felt like a test on whether or not people actually cared. And I think that the sentiment around these these regions of the world is taking a turn for the worse, like a lot. And mind you, by the way, I will say this now, it's actually going to get a lot worse. Like you're going to see sentiment for those regions of the planet go down dramatically over the next like over the next 3 or 4 years. It's going to be insane. Maybe even the years after that, especially the years after that because right now you're going to see a slowing down of that a little bit, right? But some of the some of these regions, it's like it's not going to slow down. It's actually going to get faster and worse. So, you get to see a lot more of that. Ironically enough, the ones who are going to come out on top of all of this, I would predict is probably just going to be China. And most of the Asian subp parts because they they did one thing successfully that they've been telling everybody about for decades now, and that would be seizing the means of production. They did that successfully. It's finished. Right? So, and now the US wants its production back, but they don't know how Why don't we just produce it? You could produce production, right? I mean, if they were serious about like bringing production back, they would put they would put Jared Isaacman in the position, right, for like NASA, you know, that's what they would do, but they they would be doing that.
