It's Okay To Be The Fat Guy This Summer

Hey, man. I just wanted to let you know that it's totally fine for you to be the fat guy this summer. You don't have to go on a diet or try to get your summer bod. You're just being authentic. You're just being yourself. And the group, the crew, us guys, we really like having you around because you actually make us feel better about ourselves. And you know, you're going to be running around on the beach all jiggly and we'll probably poke you every once in a while, but overall it just lightens the mood. You know, you really compliment the friend group and I don't think that other people should be telling you that you should try to change because you're just being who you are as a person. Like you shouldn't get uncomfortable. You should enjoy your life. You should eat whatever you want to eat. Like just genuinely focus on being yourself and the right people are going to find you.

How crazy is it that advice like that is considered caring advice in our society? In our day and age, people are surrounding themselves with people that are unwilling to give them the cold, hard truth. That are unwilling to give them tough love because the truth itself stings and so many people find themselves being lied to by the people that are around them and they also find themselves staying stuck. And you wonder why? Well, it's because these people around you are lying to you. These people around you are not being honest. They are taking the easy way out in telling you what you want to hear instead of telling you what you actually need to hear.

Now, in today's society, tough love is really looked down upon. Like it's considered abusive. It's considered um mean and the people that ultimately actually give you the best advice are the ones who are often very critical of you. They're often the ones that are very critical of the things that you do with your life and they want to hold you to a higher standard, but a lot of people are just they're too comfortable to actually let those words resonate with them and change their life. How strange is it that we live in a world where you can give somebody the truth and you will be scoffed at. You will be made fun of. You will be told that you're an asshole. But if you lie directly to somebody's face, you'll be elevated. You'll be put on a pedestal. You'll be told that you're a great human being and that you have a lot of virtue. It's this environment around you that's keeping you stuck.

And it's almost insulting when I sit here and I say this because you guys know the message of what I preach. You guys know that I'm constantly encouraging men to get into shape. Get your act together. And people will call me mean for that. People will say, "Brandon, your videos are just too harsh. Brandon, I disagree with the energy in these videos. You need to be a lot more accommodating. You need to be a lot more loving to your audience. I feel like you're constantly screaming at the people that are watching your videos. You need to lower your tone. Maybe don't use as many cuss words." All of these different things to try to get me to water down my message and make it more palatable. But I'm telling you guys that this tough love is exactly what most men need. It's exactly what they need.

As a man, when you are born, there is a load that is immediately placed onto your shoulders. And that load, that burden is your potential. What you could become and the things that you could accomplish. And as a man, you can either choose to try to escape from it and a lot of people will chase quick dopamine in order to distract themselves from this potential or you can learn to accept the journey that you have ahead of you. Understand that you don't need to make all of the progress that you're going to make in your life all in the span of one day or one hour or one week or one year even. That you have years to do it. And you can look at the journey and realize, "Hey, I've got my whole life to work towards this. I've got every single day to get better. I am going to learn to bear the load. I am going to become stronger through the stress and I am going to learn to squat the burden that has been placed upon my shoulders."

If that is not the energy that you have going in the life as a man, you are going to fail. And you are going to look back 10, 20, 30 years from now and wish that you had taken an alternate route. Wish that you had surrounded yourself with the people that decided to tell you the truth instead of lying to you. Surrounded yourself with people that actually pushed you to be more rather than surrounding yourself with yes-men. Surrounding yourself with people that unequivocally decided to support anything that you would do. Because you can find those people anywhere. The people that offer true value are the people who are willing to stand up and tell you what you actually need to hear. Hold those people close and cherish that wisdom.
