If you have no views and no subscribers, it's because you don't have this YouTube setting turned off. I'm going to show you what this setting is so you don't continue to waste your time making videos that get less than a,000 views.
Now, these analytics are for my YouTube channel that you're on right now, Belmont, where I just blew it up and I'm already up to $60 a day. But this channel is where I've made $2 million called Serum. And then here's another one of my channels with half a billion views and 500,000 subscribers.
Now, the biggest thing I see small YouTubers struggle with is this right here. Go to YouTube Studio and click on any one of your videos. Then go ahead and scroll down. It's going to be very, very far because it's hidden called category. This is very important. I'm sure you've wondered what category should you make your video. I'll tell you that this is super important and can determine if your video gets a million views or none. You have to choose correctly. And look at how many options there are. So, the big question is which category should you pick for your specific video?
Now, first thing to know, you should be using the same category for every single video on your channel. You just need to choose one. Now, YouTube automatically chooses people and blogs, so this is always going to be a safe choice. But what if you post gaming or what if you post music? Well, should you just choose that instead? And the answer is yes, cuz that's very specific. However, when it gets to entertainment or education, it gets iffy because this video is technically an educational video, right? How to grow on YouTube, how to get better. I'm giving out tips and tricks, but I should not choose education because it's going to limit my amount of views.
There's a secret trick I like to use to figure out which category will get you the most amount of views for your video. First off, you want to go to the most successful person in your niche and go to one of their most popular videos. From here, all you have to do is copy the link to it. Then go to Google and type in YouTube metadata viewer. You want to choose the top option, MW metadata. From there, you want to post the link to the YouTube video and submit it. Then scroll down and it's going to give you all the metadata from that video, which is extremely important because not only can you see the tags forever because not only can you see every single tag, you can see what's more important, which is the category. And this is in how to in style, which wow, I did not expect that. I was thinking people and blogs. And because this video has 350,000 views, I know that how to and style is going to work for a video in the how to grow on YouTube niche.
Now, now the setting you need to turn on is in YouTube Studio. Go in the bottom left hand side to settings. Then go to channel and advanced settings. Now here you have to scroll halfway down until you see don't show potentially inappropriate words. This box should absolutely be checked because YouTube generates a transcript for every single video you have, meaning there will be automatic captions. And if I say duck, they may mistake it for YouTube makes mistakes. So, if you're saying words that sound like bad words, but they're not, the algorithm is going to think, "Oh, this video is not friendly for kids and your views will literally be cut in half to make sure this doesn't happen, check don't show potentially inappropriate words." This is going to solve that problem for you.
Now, the next setting is conveniently located right below that, and it's right here under clips. Allow viewers to clip my content. This should be checked. If it's not, make sure you check it. this is something you should have on because it's going to allow other people viewers to share your video which is going to drive a ton more views to it. So, if you have this unchecked, you're essentially opting to get less views, which doesn't make any sense. So, make sure you have this setting checked on.
For the next setting, go to upload defaults. Now, here is really important because you can set the defaults you do for every video, meaning you can save a bunch of time. Like, I have the tags here. So every time I upload a video, I don't have to type all four of these in every single time. It saves me hours over the course of months and years. The next thing you should have here is visibility as unlisted. Now, you can also do private, but default will be public. YouTube will have this as public for you, meaning every time you upload a video, it instantly gets posted, which you do not want. I personally have it unlisted. That way, I can have the video in my YouTube dashboard for a few hours so it can process to get up to good quality. I can make any final changes I need to and make sure the video is perfect with the title and thumbnail. And lastly, YouTube needs a couple hours to analyze a video so it knows exactly who to promote it to. So don't post a video right after uploading it. You're going to get way more views if you wait a few hours making it unlisted.
From here, go to advanced settings. Automatic chapters is going to be at the very top. And this is going to be checked. You want to uncheck this. And the reason why is because automatic chapters are bad in most cases. I'll quickly explain. If you're in an entertainment channel, don't use it because people are watching for entertainment. They don't want to be spoiled what's to come. So, you're going to get higher watch time if you turn this off. Additionally, even if you're an education channel and you're doing top 10 things and people want to bounce around, it could help you increase your watch time, but only if you do manual chapters. YouTube messes up automatic chapters all the time. So, if you're going to do chapters, just do them manually because it's so much more accurate and YouTube won't sabotage your video. So, uncheck this. So, turn this setting off.
The next setting is under community moderation. Go to defaults and your moderation should be basic, but it should never be unknown because inappropriate comments could get through. And if your comment section is filled with bad words, YouTube is going to deem the video not suitable for people under 18, YouTube is going to deem the video not suitable for any kids and your views will be cut in half.
Now, there's actually a secret area in YouTube Studio. If you go to community and you go to comments right here under published, if you click on it, you can actually choose on held. And here you can see what comments were held by YouTube moderation, which they're going to be bad. So, if you have the guts to do it, go ahead and click on apply. Now, sometimes YouTube will make a mistake and these comments won't even be inappropriate. Like, as you see here, it says potentially inappropriate, but honestly, it's not even bad. So, you can manually approve them if you choose to. I mean, honestly, scrolling through, most of these comments are really good. So, it looks like YouTube is making a huge mistake here.
The next setting you need to have on, just go to any video in your YouTube studio. Then scroll down until you see shorts remixing. Make sure you have allow video and audio remixing. You're going to get more views. It's as simple as that.
For the last setting in the bottom lefthand side, go into the master settings for your channel. Then go to advanced settings. From here, you want to scroll all the way down until you see third-party training. This is a new one that YouTube has added. And for new channels, they have been selecting this box, which you do not want this to be selected. They specifically say if you select this option, this is going to have no benefit to you. and it's really just going to be exposing and leaking your own data. So, make sure you have this off.
