Today we are watching as the Putin regime continues to struggle with the war that it started. Today that war has come home and has put pressure across the country. And nowhere do we see that like in Moscow. The fact that today Moscow is having to change how airplanes fly, closed down its airports is all a sign that this war has gone terribly off course from what was originally planned.
In fact, what we're watching is something that is nothing less than incredible. Russia today is under such frequent attack that has put the entire country into defensive overload. We see that evidenced by the fuel outages across the nation. Most especially in places like occupied Crimea that's causing a great deal of concern because a lot of Russians, they're worried that next comes the full liberation of Crimea. Uh but that's all leading something else. It's leading to what the elites inside of Russia see. They today are worried that this war, it's not just that they're losing. It's not just that things are about to get worse. It's that there's no reason to hope for a better future. Today, they're realizing that those years of praising Putin didn't pay off. It's led to a disaster that at this point is beginning to spiral.
But even worse than that is what we see with the common people in Russia today. They realize there's no hope and they realize that mobilization is coming. And we see evidence of that through what is going on right now across the country and the reaction of common Russians who are refusing to go to a war that they see no hope in winning. But Vlad Putin, he's unable to quickly respond to these challenges. He simply doesn't have the capacity. He doesn't have the team that he would need. As you know, he has filled his team for years with political appointees, with friends, with corrupt people who are there to make money, not to actually do their job. That's why today this decay that we see across Russia is leading to a disaster that is making the whole regime unstable. That's why today we can be absolutely sure of one thing. Vladimir Putin did not build a fortress. He built a house of cards that's quickly starting to come undone.
My name is Dr. Jason Smart. I'm a ke special correspondent and a national security adviser. Today the Russians though are in such a complicated position they simply don't know what to do. Look at what's happening right now in Moscow, the Russian capital. Incredibly enough, Moscow today has less direct international flights than they had during the Soviet Union. But keep in mind, during the Iron Curtain, there are more direct flights to Moscow than there are today. When you look at a list of flights where they're currently flying, it's mostly holiday destinations where Russians historically have gone on vacation. There's very few other countries, but very few people probably are going to be wanting to fly to Russia with what's going on now with civilian airliners.
Incredibly enough, over Moscow, they're going to put new restrictions. Now, of course, the restrictions will not affect government aircraft, but it will affect all the airliners. And that is how low can they can fly over the capital. In fact, today they're going to say that they cannot fly lower than about 5,100 m. That's 16,732 ft. That's about half of normal cruising altitude. But why is it today? Why is it they can't fly lower? Well, that's because the Russians, they want to be able to shoot down drones at the lower altitude. They want to keep flights on schedule to keep them flying while there are incoming drones. The idea being that then they could shoot down those drones. But just imagine the inherent risk of that, the potential for complete disaster trying to shoot down aircraft while at the same time there's other aircraft above it. What could possibly go wrong?
Let's remember what could go wrong. In 1978, the Soviet Union shot down with its air defense Korean Airlines 902. Remember also when they shot down 1983, Korean Airlines 007. Remember once again when they shot down in 2014, MH17 with their air defense? Remember again when their air defense shot down its Azerbaijan Airlines 8243, which they just admitted to a couple weeks ago. Time and again we've seen that Russian air defense has a tendency of shooting down airliners. You would think that lessons might have been learned from this history but in Russia they have not. They continue to think that it's a good idea to play with air defense and play with civilian airliners. This is a very bad idea.
But it's unlikely that Vladimir Putin is getting this opinion from those around him. Those around him, they prefer to tell him the myth that everything's fine. that today Russia's winning its 3-day special military operation that of course is on day 1,551. But let's look further. Let's look further how today the Putin regime has driven itself into a ditch. A ditch from which it clearly cannot pull itself out of. And we see that across the country. It's not limited to the fact that they've decided to take these incredible risk with civilian lives. We see that though across the country, not just with airlines.
Consider this. When you look at frequently the air attacks inside of Russia, there's a big difference from the Ukrainian ones. When there's attacks within Ukraine, you could typically hear in the background, not just air defense, but also the air raid warnings. They keep the population aware of the fact that there's an attack ongoing so the population can be prepared. But in Russia, they don't do that. Very frequently. They do not turn on the alarms. They don't wish for the public to become alarmed, per se. But there's a huge problem with that. That means that you're putting your population inherently at disadvantage. You're putting them into a great risk of thereby being killed by the attack. Would it make more sense to protect them to prepare them?
We just saw there was a massive attack inside of Kiev. The attack was one of the largest the entire war and damage was significant, but still it didn't strike anything of great government value. And though there was a loss of life, it was not very high. Ukraine was very fortunate as because of good air defense, but also because the population prepares itself. It doesn't just take risk. Russia doesn't even give its population the warning necessary to prepare itself because their lives, it doesn't really matter. They are all just drops in the bucket in the larger special military operation.
But across Russia, we see the disastrous war playing out day after day. Look at the attacks on the refineries. There's a reason we keep talking about this today. It is not just simply that Ukraine is attacking it. It's that today they're feeling it across Russia. Today they're feeling the reverberations of this because these attacks today have knocked out the ability for Russia to keep it society running. In fact, they've taken away the ability to fuel about 4.4 million cars per day. That's a huge amount. Today, more than 30% of gasoline output is down. 25% of diesel output is down. Today in Moscow there is a regulation saying that gasoline cannot be exported to other regions of the country. Across Russia we are seeing outages. We're seeing it in places like occupy Korea. Now occupy Korea as today is highly at risk. It's very hard for the Russians to keep sending goods there. We saw just a few weeks ago the Ukraine successfully struck the ferry that was used to keep sending supplies there. But today we've also seen routinely that Ukraine is striking airports there. It's hitting the air defense there. Recently, it tried to take out the bridge yet again. And that bridge, it stays numbered. We all see that's coming.
But aside from that, there's something else very important that right now the attacks Ukraine is carrying out all have a plan. We all see this leading up to something very big. Just look what we see in southeast Ukraine. Now, obviously, President Zilinski gave a signal just a couple days ago that it looks like a big push is about to happen in the Marupople direction. And that seems quite likely because right now Ukraine has capacity to do it. We see that now the roads that are used to supply southeast occupied Ukraine are being routinely struck by Ukraine. Time and again we watch as Russian equipment goes up in flames. The Russians are wholly unable to respond. But it's probably not surprising because we see that same thing on the battlefield today. In fact, today a minority of the Russian goods, the Russian soldiers are even able to reach the front lines before they're simply eliminated. With that sort of math, how does Russia get ahead?
Now, keep in mind, Russia historically was able to get ahead simply it had a bigger population and that bigger population meant they could thereby overwhelm its opponents. Simply its mass would push across and that would allow it to dominate. But if your mass never gets the front, that certainly means you're not pushing that forward. In fact, you're not going anywhere. That's why today Putin is struggling. But he's struggling with an elite. They realize this is all bad sign that today when you open the news time and again you see that everybody is saying the same thing. Ukraine today has taken initiative. It is working in its favor. Vlad Putin's regime they're no longer looking so steady. They're not looking like they're on top. And the elites today though they see that the refineries are burning. They see that the airspace is being closed. They see that the internet is being turned down.
And within the Kremlin there's a fight between the different groups. There are those who want more restrictions on internet. There are those who want to have a very Stalinistic approach to close down all the opponents to hunt out those who don't fully support Putin and his war. But the other part, they realize it's a path to full destruction. If Vlad Putin does choose to go that route, then it would actually take more resources. So publicly people would not be able to criticize him as much. The reality is it could very well destabilize his regime far worse than it's ever been before. That's why today though, it's going to be interesting to see what happens. And ultimately, it'll be what decides this war.
If Vladimir Putin listens to the voices close to him, the voices who are telling him to not worry about the mobilization that he's just starting, that would probably be a mistake. His inner circle, they realize that this is disaster. In fact, recently I was reading analysis talking to Russians in Russia, those in the elite, asking what it is about this war that so concerns them, what they think the big disaster is. What was so interesting about it was the fact that it's not simply the war. They themselves seem sort of indifferent as to what happens. They don't really care about it. They don't support it, but it's not what keeps them up at night. What keeps them up at night is that there's no longer a hope. They perceive Vladimir Putin in a positive light just a few weeks ago because they thought still he would win this war. There would be a breakthrough and Russia would get what he wanted and this would all end and life would go back to normal. But Vladimir Putin going the other direction, playing hard, refusing to negotiate, saying that they still intend to take all of Ukraine. That's created a massive depression in society. If that's the case, well, why should they hope? Why should they think possibly that things are about to get better? Well, they probably shouldn't.
That's why today we see in things like Yandex, which is like the Russian Google, more people are searching for information about the impending mobilization, the conscription. We see more people being called up for the medical exams to enter the military. But as all this is happening, we see underneath the cover something else. More people are taking out cash. And as more people are taking out cash, the banks become more unstable. And all of this is circular. All of this ties back together to a central problem. The Putin regime today is not stable. Is in a position that's becoming increasingly unstable, which despite what many people in the world think where they think that Russia is winning, it could not be further from the truth. So, let's look at all this though. When you see this together, when you see this combined, I think it's very clear, as I'm sure you do if you've been watching this channel for a while of what's happening here today. Vladimir Putin is isolated. He's in a bobble. He's cut off from common people, cut off from the realities of what's going on the ground. That's why when there's scandals like the ones that we're seeing right now for the Russian military, he has no response. He doesn't even know what to say. He simply hopes that things are going to get better because it's Russia.
But today we're watching is just one scandal after another. In fact, one of the top people in the Russian Orthodox Church known to be in charge of doing things like foreign influence working in places like Hungary with the Orban government. Well, he was just arrested. He was arrested for holding narcotics when he was in Czech Republic. Now, what's interesting about him is that he's a very close friend of the current patriarch of the Russian Orthodox Church. And I wish to bring him up for a very specific reason. As you know, the head of the Russian Orthodox Church was a career KGB officer. This is a known fact. This is something that was picked up by Swiss intelligence more than 40 years ago. It was also reported by other European intelligence in declassified records.
Today, Vladimir Putin sees that network, that network that makes up people like the current head of Russia foreign intelligence. Well, today it's corrupted. It's broken. That's why today it's creating one disaster after another. People like Shyu have provided things like total incompetence and executing this war. And all this is leading to a system that is not able to function. It seems just appointing people your friends and that sort of cronyism. It doesn't work out well for a state. In fact, it works out pretty poorly and you can make it worse for the Russian state.

Today there's a war going on inside of Russia and that war is spreading across the country as people are becoming more alarmed, more afraid, more nervous and the elites are starting to decide what they will do next.
Just imagine yourself, what do you do in a position when you're in a country where the leader is subtly devoid of any sort of reality. He has no idea of how bad the situation is, but continues to press forward. And as he continues to press forward, the country becomes further destabilized. The banks are truly in a crisis and nobody's willing to talk about it. That means it's not far away. They will see a lot of depositors lose all their money. You'll see state institutions stop being solvent. Today, the Putin regime is a very difficult position. But the best part is it's about to get much worse. Check out this video to see why.
